Iron Chef: A Guide to Collecting All of Azeroth's, Outlands' and Northrend's Cooking Recipes

Iron Chef requires to learn 200 cooking recipes. Here is a listing of all of World of Warcraft's pre-MOP recipes, and how to get them!

This guide is not planned on being updated to include MOP or WOD content at this time but this guide is still accurate for collecting all pre-MOP recipes and has been updated to reflect some MOP and WOD changes.

There should now be a total of 254 recipes (as per Wowhead Profiler), but only the 202 pre-MOP recipes are listed in this guide. Due to some additional changes in MOP and WOD, a few more recipes are no longer available. This guide is now a few recipes short of Iron Chef. You will still need to collect many, if not all pre-MOP recipes for Iron Chef so this guide is still valid. However, you will now need to supplement a few MOP recipes to bring yourself to 200 recipes to unlock Iron Chef.
Check out this guide by mishii which covers cooking achievements and is MOP updated. It appears that many MOP recipes do not count towards this achievement.This guide assumes that you have maxed out your cooking skill and does not explain how to level up cooking, only how to collect recipes.

The first option is to buy the recipes from the auction house. You may or may not find the recipe you need. You can expect the prices to be expensive for easy profits by the sellers. Not recommended.

The second option, which will cost you much less, is to have or make a character of the opposite faction. With your own character in the opposite faction, buy the recipes or complete the appropriate quests and put them up on the neutral auction house for buyout. Have a friend that is in the same faction as your intended recipient purchase them from the neutral auction house from you as soon you put them for sale. It is very important for your friend to be quick to make sure no one buys the recipe before he or she does at that price! Once they are all put up and purchased by your friend, switch back to the character on your original faction and have your friend trade to you directly all the recipes you just sold him or her.

Remember that you cannot buy your own auctions on the neutral auction house, even when you log into a different character that is on the opposite faction.This means that without this epic and now rare recipe, for every class other than a rogue, there are exactly 200 recipes obtainable from playing the game, the exact amount required for this achievement.Henry SternGoldthorn Teathis new guide

Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops - Recipe: Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops is no longer available since the Cataclysm. The only way to obtain Recipe: Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops is from another player, via trade or auction house. This recipe is likely extremely expensive, or no longer exists if all copies have all been used. Chimaerok Tenderloin was added back into the game as a drop from Prince Lakma who was added in patch 4.3. Those who have learned this epic quality recipe can now make chops again!

This is very comprehensive and to-the-point about each recipe. But I have a suggestion/issue about the formatting.

If someone is missing say, a couple recipes, they could come here knowing the names of the recipes they need, maybe from Ackis Recpie List or the Wowhead Profiler (assuming they don't just click through Wowhead at that point). But coming here knowing the names, they may have no idea where those recipes drop, and searching the page for text does not work within the tabs in a guide.

So perhaps put a \ at the end saying "Entire List of Recipes Alphabetically" or something which can be expanded and searched visually.

This is a good guide for someone who perhaps has gotten to 525 doing the dailies alone and never actually buying recipes, but for anyone missing a couple things wanting to cap out their list, they may have to do a bunch of clicking and looking before they can find the info they need, and at that point it's probably faster to just look through Wowhead's database. What you want, is for them to come here, toggle the entire list, BAM there's the answer, and they're happy and on about the task ahead! :)

I feel a good addition to this guide would be a breakdown of where each vendor is located, perhaps a route laid out for people to follow so they can efficiently fly around and pick everything up.

Westfall Stew and Cooked Crab Claw are still soulbound recipes....so Horde cannot learn these

Undermine Clam Chowder is NOT listed in there. So you will miss that one recipe if you are relying solely on Ackis at this time. My wife had that problem and we went through every single of the above recipes to find the one she needed.

I dont care about the epic, way to expansive and i cant get it msyelf anymore. so -1

Leaves exactly 200.
I dont have one from day of the dead, which it will be soon then i will get it. So i should be able to get to 199 (since i have all other event ones:P)

However, i manually, YES MANNUALLY check all the recipes and i have all of them. Yet i have 198.

So even with the DotD one i will not make it..... HOW?
Check everything twice...

Oh and my WHL thing isnt working properly since it wont show me the recipes..
(nor mounts/pets/titles or anything for that matter >.<)

The four Northrend recipes for mammoth, cupcakes, clams and herring don't seem to have a low drop rate. I got three of the four in the first night of LK level pugs on one of my 'toons.

I know it doesn't have it on the 'Contained in' tab for Recipe: Delicious Chocolate Cake, but it does also drop from Bag of Fishing Treasures from the Dalaran fishing dailies too.

I created a Wowhead character just to post on this guide. I can confirm that Delicious Chocolate Cake drops from Bag of Fishing Treasures, as I saw my BF get it. Also the Northrend mood recipes aren't rare, the percentages are low simply because once you have got the recipe, it will never drop again. If someone in your party still needs it, then it may drop, but else, never. :)

Both Recipe: Westfall Stew and Recipe: Cooked Crab Claw are sold by Kendor Kabonka but only to the Alliance, Horde characters will have to grind for the drop.

Level is the key of learning and it starts with daily quests, firstly i made bread than some spring water with crab meats so learn egg and fish recipes. Fishing and hunting, some time trades...
Best example of reasons are at outland from daily quest givers and vendors, but with dalaran you can get more aditional cooking points and make them by buy cooking recips so than at pandaria you can be a iron chef by learning all recips .

Personal Sentences (P.S.) You can also get recipes from any NPC, buying from allies or your dead targets.

Mists of Pandaria has added a large number of recipes to learn. The ones for the 1-525 powerleveling, plus 2 from tillers exalted (+300 hit/+300 expertise), plus 2 from the anglers, plus 30 total from all ways. There should be about 240 recipes now; should be at least enough to not need to get the opposite faction recipes.

Prince Lakma, a rare Level 87 Elite enemy in the mountains between Silithus and Feralas still drops huge quantities of Chimaerok Tenderloin.

So, it isn't entirely unobtainable. However, only people with the recipe will know how to cook it.

Patch 7.0.3 eliminates cross-faction recipes from your list of learned recipes. Per a statement from WoW support, Alliance recipes like "Moongraze Tenderloin" can no longer be learned by Horde, and will be removed, if you already know them.
