So you'd need 238,000 fragments to get all the stuff.
The event gives around 900 or so every hour if you show up to do stuff, with a weekly 5000.
So if you came back each week to get 6000 shards, it would take you 40 weeks to buy all the cosmetics.

Small tip for earning more fragments during each dig. Roughly 150-200more was my average, depending on group activity.

The dig piles around the camp award a small amount of fragments (~3-7) when the pile completes that you interacted with. You must contribute 1% to the pile completion to get credit and the fragments, meaning, you can't click-and-run. Stay for 2-3seconds each time.

Knowing this, all you have to do is click a pile, contribute, then run to another active pile, contribute, and another, etc etc, in between your task assignments. Standing at a single pile until 100% earns you the least amount possible during the event. Rotate between piles!

I'm wondering if there's a soft cap on the amount you can get per week? At least from world quests. I had two WQ that would each reward some amount of mysterious fragments, but when I went to do them later they had turned into a gold reward instead. Has anyone else run into this? I'm not sure how many fragments I had before they turned into gold WQ instead, but I have about 6.7k afterwards.

Edited to add: Just as an update, I still haven't seen a WQ with Mysterious Fragments as a reward again since. Even at the beginning of the week before I've done any Big Dig events, all of the Research world quests are a gold reward.

Edit: I know it's been a few weeks since it's been fixed, I just wanted to update this to reflect that! Lazey below is correct, along with some other comments. The Azerothian Archive WQ now properly give a Mysterious Fragment reward, including on alts that have not completed the Azerothian Archive quest chain.

If you're using alts, to generate for your main (or vice versa), you'll be purchasing
Priceless Artifacts.

Make this macro (make it with the blank / question mark, ideally) and put it on an action bar.

It just smashes them where you stand, which means you don't have to aim them, so it speeds up the process.
If you're able to spam a key to activate the macro, it makes that process VERY fast.

For those wondering if it is per character or per account, I received this response from a GM to confirm you may only do the quest that awards 5,000 Mysterious Fragments once a week per account!

As you thought may be the case, this quest awards 5000 Mysterious Fragments once per week to your *account*. Your first completion by the first character of the week to complete it blocks your account from receiving more.

As of the newest WQ reset Friday night, 2/9/2024 US Servers, not only do the 3 Azerothian Archives WQ reward 550-650 myserious fragments instead of gold, all 3 are available on alts that have not done the quest chain. No idea if they show up regardless if you have done the chain at all, as I have done it on my account once. This essentially provides ~3600 more mysterious fragments per week (2 WQ cycles) you can farm per alt.

This week and last week I got zero fragments from the weekly Big Dig quest, and I'm not sure why. I put in a ticket, but haven't heard back; does anyone have a clue as to what I might be doing wrong? I only complete the weekly quest on one toon each week.

As of 11.2 some people are not getting the 5000 Mysterious Fragments from the weekly reward. I have personally had this happen twice now. I have put a ticket in and no response.

I'll update this post if or when I hear anything.
