It seems Blizzard has heard the community on this one, and gave a sick/cool name for the amount of HKs one person must attain to get this far. "Of the ___" is a noble title to me, while this is downright for the beasts of PvP. I do not want to mess with the people who get this.

Fun Fact: This achievement is marked as the most points out of all Achievements in the game in the Achievement UI (as of Cataclysm launch at least) I think the Seeker gives more all up at 120

This is an impressive accomplishment for any1 who puts forth the time and effort to reach such a high number. BUT, i only feel that this is impressive if you have actually EARNED it. Trolling around the bg's on ur mount for HK's doesnt count, and having a level 1 toon with this just shows that you have nothing useful to do with ur time other than kill other lowbies. I guess for some ppl, it is too difficult to do with their mains, as that requires a little bit more skill than what a level 1 toon can do. I am well on my way with my warlock to getting this achievement, but still have a ways to go b4 i join that elite group of killers. To all that have earned this or very close to getting it already, CONGRATULATIONS! To the ones that are uselessly doing it on there level 1 toons, you disgust me and bring disgrace to this acheivement, get ur level up and come join the big dogs up here. BARK BARK!

Now that Cataclysm, and more people have come aware of this title. I am sure there, are lots of people grinding for this title, including myself.

I was just interested, in hearing you people out on how you plan or how you currently are grinding for this achievement.
Obviously you are doing Tol Barad every time its available, and obviously you are doing Battlegrounds in between, but in which Battleground and with what tactic have you found the most efficient?

To ease the grind out, I may suggest that you should be trying for the other PvP achievements as well, and group up with you friends as often as possible, as it improves the game experience by 200% at the least!
So start working on your Battlemaster title, if you already havn't and your Justicar / Conquerer, if you havn't done that as well.

Anyways, this is my experience.

Before Cataclysm hit, there was a bug in IoC on the European realms which had put the hangar out of service, and thus made alot more pvp going on in-between the fortresses, and made it easily possible to gain 100 HKs per game you lost, and about 200 Hks per game you won, this bug has been fixed since then, but those slow games may still occur for me.

- Turling in AV is also pretty efficient, if you can make it happen. IT will give you a few hundred honor kills.
- Premade a good group and corpse camp at a BG graveyard for hours.
- "Defend" at Blacksmith in AB
- Make a gank squad and run around, killing people in Tol Barad Peninsoulia ( may not be as effective on low servers, or as fast as battlegrounds, but sure is fun )

But on the negative side.
- I havn't found Strand of The Ancients very fun, and it hardly gives me any HKs now that it has been turned into a race, with super fast vehicles ( Patch 4.0.3a )
- AV sucks, if its all about the "RUSH" and not about doing PvP ( turtling )

...well, I just wanted to hear out on your experiences, your tactic and how you go about it.
Its gonna be a long grind, and I wouldn't do it, if I didn't enjoy it. I just like to switch around on my gameplay once in a while, but I would like to be doing AVs where I only get 7-15 HKs per round, if you understand me :)

This title is awesome, but I wonder why the "The" in the title is capitalized. It looks out of place. Compared to other titles that don't have it capitalized (the Diplomat, the Insane, ect). Hmm.

The Honor System is screwed, imo. I would be much more interested in 5000 Killing Blows or something; obviously farming Honor can be done with no skill, or even with no PVP really at all. One of the people above now has 1.2 million HKs, and only a 700 rating in Arena, with some horrible gear choices. (The Rogue from EU) He obviously could have gotten it legitimately, but I have no immediate "fear" or "respect" simply because someone has this.

Give me a Killing Blow stat, Achieve, and title!

(And no offense to anyone who does have this, or is working toward it; it's all game mechanics, and it's your toon and your fun! I just think the Honor Kill system is a bit screwy)

Killing blows themselves are meaningless. I can get a player down to 10% only to see my kill ninjad by someone else.

For the 100k WG was awesome. Sadly TB is not near as good for raw HK farming. Long since Battlemaster so it's currently just grinding the two new BGs for nerd points.

I try to set myself a goal. Current goal is 500hk a day. Sure that's a 200day grind... But is it much more realistic to take it one day at a time.

This achievement is a complete nightmare for achievement point farmers who hate pvp.

Even if you love pvp, going from 100,000 hk to 250,000 hk for only 10 achievement points isn't the best use of time.

Most of what you've said is true. I'm working on it right now and I just passed 226k. TB is relatively dead on my server but I make sure to get in for the defensive games as I tend to get a lot more HKs there than I do on O. If there are others around to BG I'll just do randoms unless there's a good BG weekend. If I'm alone(which I am a lot :x) I just q for AVs. While you do end up getting some %^&*ty games, a lot of the time you can also get some really good HK games. Just last night I only got to play for like 4 hours and made around 800hks for the day. Had one AV turtle that yielded 290hks.

It does help being a rogue and being able to stealth around huge fights and not die in the middle of nowhere.

I'm shooting for 5k HKs a week, so I should have my title by some time in July :D

By far the most time consuming achievement of any in the game. I was sad the day they announced that RBG would re-use the old school PvP titles. I always loved my Grand Marshal but lately its so common, its almost the new Challenger. Now I finally got a worthy replacement.

Here I am hoping for a 500 000 achievement to spend the next 6 years working on. As previous mentioned something like "The Genocider" would be fitting.

He has gotten this nearly 5 and a half times. Since Hk's werent tracked in wow until a while after its initial release, then that means that he has gotten roughly (very roughly) 700 honorable kills a day since around 2005.

Here's a tidbit of relevant empirical trials in farming this.

I farmed AB for approximately 60 hours over the last week (I am a Rogue). When we had BS, I was at BS. When they had BS, I was at BS in stealth attempting to ninja it whenever I could. When we had ST and were farming their GY, I was in the water between BS and ST. I got #1 HK's almost every game. I won roughly 50% of the games, maybe more. In the process, of the ~60 hours, I got roughly ~7.5k HK's. That's nearly 125HK's/hour.

Today I tried something new, IoC, only because others told me about it. I was reluctant at first, and didn't think it was very likely going to be any good, but here's the comparison:

Games usually last about ~10 minutes (AB's usually last ~20, sometimes even as many as 25).
Each game gives a range of ~35-90 HK's, depending on whether or not Alliance attempts for WS in the beginning or we confront them over Docks. (Vs AB's usual 30-90)
Losses vs wins don't seem to change the amount of HK's received (Unlike AB):
--When you lose an AB, they are probably flat-out outmuscling you and more likely than not, you'll see Alliance with 50+ HK's each and Horde with stuff like 9s. Yeah, sucks. But when you lose an IoC, it's much more likely they're just playing the BG better than you -- they've got glaives with good protection -- and your pockets of 30v20 are still netting you huge HK gains in your favor despite the loss.
Easier to idle in -- I'm sure I'll get a lot of ^&*! here, but if someone idles in an AB while eating a sandwich, it's noticeable. That's 1/15 of the team -- but if you idle in IoC, you're a 1/40 nobody. Not only doesn't anyone notice, but you also make less of a negative impact on the team -- that's a win-win. Or at least a win-lesser loss.

My strategy: Stick with the cluster$%^&. I run to WS in the beginning with everyone. If they double back to fight for Docks, so do I. If they go straight to the base, I do, too. I check back to the HK list often (~1x/minute) to see if anyone is topping HK's (And isn't me or near me). If someone is, I check where they are on the map. This is a good indicator that, say, D has more alliance fights than O, and to ensure I switch accordingly.

Near the end of the match (After we break into their base) I make sure their base is cleared, and if they have no reinforcements streaming in, I try to quickly run back to D my guy. 2 smoke bombs is 10 seconds, which is a good attempt to try to make them wipe (hint hint rogues) or just stop their raid DPS (10 seconds * ~100k raid dps is a million hp -- ever lose an IoC by less than a million? Then you'll know this can make a difference).

After ~10 hours of IoC, I have gained roughly 3k HKs. That's a huge improvement over AB. Although I like AB significantly more (favorite BG by far), since it's currently IoC weekend I should at least devote this weekend to farming it for the HKs.

And remember, just because people say you can't "grind" this, doesn't mean you can't grind it. There's no reason you can't get HKs efficiently. Just be wary -- don't flat-out idle in BGs or contribute nothing, or you'll possibly deal with losses that will make you lose HKs anyway.

I'm working on the 250k achievement. Here's my thoughts from a Horde perspective.

-- Tol Barad (especially defense) during peak hours is great.

-- Eye of the Storm. Camp out in the middle of the battlefield. You get honorable kills from the T-intersections and from near the 4 nodes as well. I routinely camp in the middle and come out at top for honorable kills with 40-50+ per game. (Bonus: I'm a priest. Lots of opportunities to fling people off the edge.)

-- Isle of Conquest. Follow initial advance to hanger or workshop, then head on to their base. Kill what you can near their base (I always like mind controlling Allies off their towers so I can take out the guns). You'll get honorable kills from nearby fighting. If not a lot of fighting is going on there, look for the top HK-getter on the battlefield and head to his position.

-- Alterac Valley. Cause a turtle. Not easy to do solo. Cap Snowfall, and start heading south regrabbing stuff along the way. You'll need a group of people to force them out of the towers, but you can always elect to regrab graveyards and hope others get the towers. Graveyards are key, as it sends anyone who dies north until they can formally "own" something.

-- Arathi Basin is okay for grinding honorable kills, especially if you run with a zerg offense team slaughtering anything in your path. Blacksmith sees a lot more action than any of the other four nodes does, and can "snipe" honorable kills from the nearway road intersections.

-- Twin Peaks and Warsong Gulch are not so good for honorable kills unless you manage to overwhelm the other team and farm them.

I'm "soon" done with this and I wanted to share my way of doing this, maybe one of you find something helpful.

First of all, don't set your goals too high in the beginning if you're going to farm this. This achievement is done over a large period of time, especially if you're not close to at least 150k kills.

Some general hints:
-- ask friends to do some battlegrounds with you. It increases fun by 200%
-- avoid looking at your HKs too often
-- queue random BG. There is no BG that gives a lot of kills reliably which is worth the increased waiting time
-- don't play BG 24/7 or you will get tired of this very soon
-- don't choose the worst pvp spec! Survivability and/or self healing specs and talents are a plus. Learn to play your class well in an pvp environment. For example learn to juke - getting kicked in every cast isn't fun.

What could be bad?
-- Sometimes I had quite long queue times as horde. Most times it was about 1-2 minutes but I also had weeks were I had to wait 10 minutes or longer. That makes "HK farming" quite impossible. I think there is no solution for this.
-- Find something what you can do in queue times. Dailies, fishing or other achievements are a welcome change.
-- Tol Barad is great for HKs in peak times on a well populated realm. However, the chance for an invite is quite low if you're the dominant faction on your realm.
-- You will have days which are really really bad

What could be great?
-- You get a lot of honor which can be spend for enchanting materials. Sell those in auction house, it's a nice gold boost.
-- You will get one of the greatest titles ingame (imo)

What should I do now in BGs?
Please keep this always in mind: you sometimes need to play lamely. No one can win all fights, but please, don't play like an idiot and just stand there doing nothing. Watching your teammates die isn't helpul at all. On the other side, don't overestimate yourself. Know which fights you can win and when you better run. You can still ask for help or wait for others.
I'm now listing spots where you get most kills - but remember my last sentences!
-- Arathi: "defending" the blacksmith is the best thing you can do.
-- Eye: you will get the kills from all towers if you're in the middle
-- Isle: suprisingly, this was the "best" BG for HKs. There is no general spot, but if you play the BG as you are supposed to play it, you will get the most kills.
-- Strand: ?
-- AV: defend Balinda/Galvangar, then retap. After this, go offensive.
-- Gilneas: between 2 bases, switching to the base which gets attacked.
-- Twin Peaks & WS: it depends heavily on the group. No general advice.

EDIT: the newest trend are preform groups for Isle or AV (mainly Isle, more HK/hour than AV). In EU there are at least 2 alliance groups, one english and one german and at least 2 german horde groups (never met an english one).
40 men queue with Preform AV Enabler (addon), wait until a graveyard in a good spot is tapped and kill the opponents at their graveyard when they respawn. "Good spot" in this case describes a place where they cannot escape easily, for example Stonehearth graveyard in AV, or in their own bases.
I'm not going to rate this way of farming kills. It's really frustrating if your opponents are premades, there is absolutely no chance of winning. The best way is to leave (15 min deserteur is faster than getting killed 20-30mins) or to die many times. Hiding somewhere doesn't help, it just makes the game longer.
However, Blizzard announced that there won't be a way to queue with more than 5 ppl in MoP.
One Isle game takes about 20-30 mins and gives ~350HK. AV depends on the opponent's playstyle, if they hide somewhere in AV it takes long, if they accept their fate and die a lot at their graveyard, it's faster. I would say ~45-60 mins for 600-800HK (also depends if they take the mines).
It's the fastest but lamest way to get HK.

EDIT 2: Blizzard announced that all your character's kills will count for this achievement:
A very few achievements are account-only.

There are two categories of account-only achievements. One is achievements that are not possible to earn on one character. If we made an achievement to level every class to level 90, it would be account-only. (I'm not sure we will, but it's a good example.) The other category are achievements that are just brutal to complete on one character (and you’d never want to do for multiples), such as 2500 daily quests or 250K honorable kills. In these cases, the cumulative work of all your characters on those criteria will count.
If you are far away from 250k kills and have multiple characters with some kills, you can also wait for MoP.

To earn an Honorable Kill, you must be flagged for PvP and in the area/ taking part in killing a member of the oppostie faction (healers need not worry about tagging a player to still recieve creit for the honorable kill). Regardless of server type (PvP/RP) you can flag for PvP with the /pvp command. Honorable Kill achievements can be earned while out in the world or in PvP "zones" such as battlegrounds. For each Kill achievement, the appropriate number of kills will be needed: 1, 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000, 25000, 50000, 100000, 250000.

This achievement will be account wide in MoP (along with most other achievements) making it more accessible to those who have the honour kills over several characters.

Some might argue that makes it less punishing, but if you've got the kills to show for it, it doesn't make the guy or girl behind the character any less bloodthirsty!

With HK's come honor points. What to do with so many excess honor points once you have all the gear you need?

Well, here's what: buy blue level 60 capes / trinkets at PvP quatermasters in major cities and DE them!
They only cost 55 honor which is laughable but disenchanting each one yields Large Brilliant Shard (often two of these with guildperk), worth 20-25 gold on average in AH. That makes around 40-50 silver per each honor point spent, almost the rate of point exchange on new patches! These shards have some use for some BiS twink enchants so they sell relatively fast, no problem selling 100+ per day on decent pop server.

Old world enchanting mats have held high value ever since because the ilevel bracket of these items is so narrow that people go lvl in Outland by the time they can find these items.

Anyone doing these HK farm premades, people grinding Battlemaster or this achievement should do this. It will make you hundreds of thousands in the long run when you count all that honor you will get over the course of 250k HK's.

Even with the progress being shared among all of your characters this one takes dedication to achive. The 250,000 Honorable Kills will take awhile to amass.

I got lucky right after my server transfer and found a super-efficient farming group (Alliance side) that runs 12/hours a day 365 days a year. We farm IoC and get about 300 HKs in 15-20 minutes depending on the cooperation (or interference) of any random pugs who queued in with our premade. Everything is organized and smoothly run in vent, so there are no in-game invites or cross-realm groups. Everyone is super-nice and you don't even need to be geared. Google "The Bloodthirsty." For the Horde, I'm told there's a group called Cupcake Cartel. Happy hunting!

It is disgustingly easy to farm this in Ashran when your team is defending.

When your team is on offense, you will average roughly 3 HKs per minute -- 60 HKs per 20 -- which is on-par with most BGs.

When your team is on defense, however, and I'm talking Bridge Defense, it's another matter. Your captain will AoE to wipe out the other team by the dozen. You will average closer to 10-20 HKs per minute, with me having averaged 15 HKs per minute for over 40 minutes straight before.

That is closer to 300 HKs per 20 minutes, which beats out every single BG by a significant margin.
