I wonder if you can manage this as soon as WotLK is released (as a level 70 Hunter for example), off course with a lot of dieing and feigning death you should get a far way, but are there any areas only accesable with a flying mount? I just finished discovering every part in Azeroth and am wondering if it will be worth the time to run around Northrend once WotLK is released or if it will be impossible before level 77.

btw, i unlocked flight form for northrend and yeah, you can't get the achievement until 77+... there are two spots in sholazar basin that you MUST fly up to the shelf to get credit.

icecrown i explored some of pre-77 but seeing as i was *very* low 70's at the time i didn't exactly try to uncover everything, i just ran a big loop around the zone to see if i could find flight paths (which i then learned have to be unlocked through quests, lol). i honestly can't say for sure if it *could* be done (albeit w/lots of deaths) at 70 but i seriously doubt it... same for storm peaks.

It is possible to complete this at 70, albeit painfully. It required a lot of swimming/jumping and corpse running, not sure if its doable without levitate. Rhalan on Bloodscalp if you want to Armory the tabard.

I seen a 70 hunter with the title ..and a warrior in my guild got the Explore Sholazar Basin ...and he said ..you just have to run. I (as a tier 6 pally tank) find it hard to get through the avalanche also to get Master's Overlook and Icecrown finished up.
Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
Then all i have is Storm Peak to worry about.

I am on my way doing this. I have Icecrown, part of Stormy Peaks and the top of the avalanche in Sholazar Basin to finish. I'm only level 70 and I've set my goal very high to get this achievement and level up with the 'explorer' title. Wish me luck as I reach the final stretch of my goal!

Hey,
I was able to do this last night on my level 71 death knight. Had the " pale Horse" talent, mount speed increase by 20%, and it helped a ton. This achievement took me around 8-10 hours to complete =(. So if you're attempting this, be ready for over 90+ deaths, full broken armor, and many hours of time! It was worth it though, i love the tabard. Check out the explore achievements from wowhead for certain zones ur having trouble with. Most people had the same troubles as you and post tips on how to get to certain difficult spots. It's what I did.

The two places I hated most were, Ice crown, and storm peaks. Took FOREVER! Lol, good luck!

wow I hate people who have this achievement at level 80! We need another achievement for getting it at a lower lvl without a flying mount haha. It sucks to see other people at 80 with the achievement I have, and I had spent so much time attempting to get it :(, while they spent like no time. At least blizzard should show the level you did it at in addition to the date!

I found icecrown easy (at 70) lots of deaths but pretty straight forward...that said storm peaks is next!

I should add the ghost gryphons really help!

Oh yeah, took me 2 days but got this at level 70. It took a lot of dieing at some spots, a bit of corpse jumping, and a good pocket book but it feels good to be probably the only person on Cenarion Circle to get this at 70. Eventually it'll be wasted when I hit 80 for you look like all the other lazy ones who did it with a flying mount.

Tips though for some challenges...

Masters' Overlook: ride up The Avalanche till you get to the top of the cliff range, then walk along the basic road side path at the top. It is very obvious this path. when you're above the Overlook just jump down.

Ulduar: all you have to do is find Temple of Wisdom which you jump down the cliff and walk up to the base. You might die.

Temple of Storms: it is a bit of a run with a corpse jump involved. I don't take credit for this cause someone on here did post a video that proved so very helpful.

Icecrown: Be set for death cause you not only will die...but some points you have to. Do not fret about the giant 80 elites that walk around cause the worst you'll get is a 2000 hit but they move painfully slow that your epic ground mount can out run them with ease. Do watch for the ive mage frost bolts and there are some undead that will hit you with an auto 50% speed decrease instantly. Most are kinds harmless. The cliffs require some dieing and spirit resurrection so either go naked and have your stuff in the bank or be rich.

When you get your title and tabard at 70 rejoice and laugh in the faces of those who call you noob, if you get this at 70/71 you got style.

Total XP gain: About 900,000

It is in-fact possible to explore Northrend below level 70. I did it as a druid at level 60, the only advantage I had was feline grace (which didn't actually help that much). So If I can do it, you can too! The comments from all the different "Explore" achievements really did help and work 100%. Sometimes you get lucky, and at other times, you gotta read the comments :)

I had real trouble with Howling Fjord here, for some reason it showed up that I had explored "Nifflevar". In the end I accidentally found it with good ol' Auto-Run on my way to what I thought was my last spot. i should've looked on Wowhead before attempting this anyway ^^

Lovely tabard in my opinion, really kills boredom doing this acheivement :P

I just completed this achievement last night on my level 72 rogue. I ran around with only my engineering googles (for looking into the distance), Rocket Boots Xtreme, and a Parachute Cloak, just to keep repairs to a minimum.

I think it's safe to assume that this was a lot easier to do with a rogue than it would have been with any other class. I was constantly using Sprint and Vanish in Icecrown. Stealth was extremely useful in exploring the upper walkways and down in the fields below Ymirheim.

Easiest way to go about exploring most of the zone was to make a big circle from the Argent Vanguard around the north ridges to the Fleshwerks. I do this route last so you can make your way south from Fleshwerks to the Avalanche in Sholazar. You can go straight south from there to explore the Maker's Overlook (there's no need to actually drop down if you position yourself carefully). I'm not sure if you can make your way back north and then west to get to Stormwright's Shelf on the coast.

I dropped down from the Overlook to explore the Basin. I explored the Shelf by jumping up the southern bank of the waterfall near the Nesingwary camp and then swimming north. I continued north to get the Onslaught discovery in Icecrown before hearthing back to Dalaran. I'm not sure if there is a better way to get these discoveries without having a flyer. If you know of a way please share! :p

Storm Peaks was an utter nightmare. I couldn't find a way to get past the ridge north of K3, so I made my way into the spider cave as far as I could and died. Once I took the spirit rez, I got the Brunnhildar, Dun Niffelem, and Camp Tunka'lo spots. Made my way east to get Thunderfall. I just ran around on my mount for all of this.

Make your way as far west in Terrace of the Makers before you die. You can spirit rez on the other side of the wall and continue on your way. You can pretty much get all the discoveries in the west except for Grom'arsh and Frosthold without too much trouble. I'm not sure when I uncovered the Crash Site, but I believe it came with the Snowdrift Plains discovery.

Frosthold was a weird one to get. It may be easier to get as Alliance if there is a graveyard up there (could use some confirmation on this) but if not, you can just do what I did: die some more, of course.

I made my way south along the dotted trail where all the harpies are. Keep following the arrow on your minimap, which will take you slightly off the trail and onto a snow bank with another ledge about two body-lengths above you. Get a harpy to kill you and then rez on the bank above where you died. You should be able to run up the side of the mountain and get the discovery that way.

I guess I died about ten to fifteen times or so, but that's only because Vanish and Sprint saved my tail the other hundred times I should have died. The total process took about 4 or 5 hours total, and that included stopping to mine. Take into consideration that this is going to be a total headache, so you may want to break it up into 3 or 4 blocks like I did.

This achievement is totally possible without a flyer, but I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you're insanely bored, love doing achievements, or are a glutton for punishment.

I still cry because I can't get the Makers' Overlook and the Maker's Perch discovered. Probably, those are the two most difficult areas of the continent.

The rest was very easy and fun to discover. I was literally stunned with several areas of the continent, specially Zul'Drak, and the beauty of Dalaran.

A totally recommended experience.

I just finished this achievement with my lvl 40 warlock so i'll share my experiance. I went all by myself so no high lvl escorter. Temple of Storms in Storm Peaks was the only place I took help to reach, a warlock summoned me there.

The grind took about 6 hours and I died about 180 times. All discover XP gave me in total 1.5 level (525 xp/discover at 40). All zones except Icecrown and Storm peaks was pretty basic, just run and try to stay alive as far as possible...

A few tips:

Take spirit ress often! Easiest way to travel far.
Use the spectral gryphon to "ressclimb" in Storm Peaks and Icecrown. This may only be possible if you can get yourself killed. I played warlock so I could Life Tap and Hellfire to die.
You can take spirit ress at any graveyard you want as long as you relog right before you take the ress because otherwise you'll be zoned back to first graveyard.
You will almost constantly have 2 minutes ressurection delay at your corpse, I watched a movie on my laptop meanwhile to get the time going.
Get a map over spirit ressers for each zone. I never thought about it until Storm Peaks but it saved me a lot of time so really recommend it for every zone.

I have found a way to get this acheivment without having cold weather flying.
First off, go to K3 in the Storm Peaks. Get the Loaned Grypohn reins from the guy next to the flight master.
Then, u got urself a free flying mount.

Completed as of 5/18/09 level 8 rogue on Illidan with no help, no summons, no haxs or nothing, it is ALL doable by foot I used the video for Temple of Storms and the written guide on thottbot and now on wowhead for Makers' Overlook.

Also when exploring Storm Peaks(I swam to get into the main area of storm peaks from Zul'Drak), I used the logout method so I could rez at any spirit healer but that was the only area I did that in.

If anyone has questions just mostly follow guides on here, the adventure took me from levels 1-8 and halfway to 9 and a sweet tabard to boot. My rogue is named Suprahh going to be twinking 19s.

after the whole ordeal I am left with: 329 deaths and a /played of 16h 12m 23s that includes AFK time and annoying rez timer. started yesterday and got 5/9. If I do decide to do EK, Kalim., and Outlands im going to pay for a taxi through them.

Tips:
Start early ideally level 1. I wouldnt waste my time levels 10-76 but its all personal choice.
You're going to die, alot and often but you'll learn alot on how to avoid aggro and how to escape when you aggro ? mobs.

This achievement is obtainable without a flying mount, as I have just earned the Northrend explorer achievement (Lvl 73 Warrior) I had a very hard time though, and in Storm Peaks, and Icecrown, I died about 25 times total. Good luck to anyone else who tries without flying mounts ^.^

Completed by level 10 on 6/11. Pronaos, Tortheldrin Horde, no summons, no rides, no help, no rezzes from players, one port to Dalaran after finding WG owned by ally and the crystal in Crystalsong not working without a visit from Dalaran first.

It is ALL possible by foot, you'll learn LOTS of tricks and shortcuts!

I'm amazed nobody has commented on just how stunning Northrend actually is.

This has to be one of the largest, most impressively designed and decorated gaming environments I have ever seen in my life. Sure, there are bits of it that aren't so pretty (Borean Tundra, Zul Drak), but mostly, it's quite simply an amazing thing to look at. Especially when you compare it to the rather flat vanilla landscapes.

this is a easy achi if you are in lv 78 just take you mount and fly and expoler all and it is 1 qouest in zul drak wen you fly on a drake (the drak fly it self you cant control it) and then you expoler altmost all of zul drak i did use 2h expoler northrend whit flying mount normal!

i'm actually working on getting this achivement complete tomorrow on my 43 shaman, i have half of the map left to explore. to be honest i thought i would be the first char lower than 50 to do this achivement but obviously i wasn't. It's still awesome being one of few actually completing this at low lvl tho.

"Use the spectral gryphon to "ressclimb" in Storm Peaks and Icecrown." i found this very usefull, took me awhile to figure out how i should get from place A to B but as soon as i discovered this teqniue it gave me alot of help.

Also, you do not have to be ontop of temple of storms or temple of the storms, i don't know, you only have to stand below it just alittle bit away from the horde camp that's nearby.

what i'm worryin' about the most right now is coldarra? is it? anyhow, the snowy place in borean thundra, how the hell am i going to get out there?

Get a flying mount and enjoy the trip. Northrend is stunning, and this achievement is really easy, just go to the covered areas of the map and if you cant uncover a certain part check the name in the achievement and search here for the coordinates.
This kind of achievement has to be the coolest, because exploring is easy and cool xD

Actually it's very easy to obtain if you have more than 60lvl... Just flying everywhere... I think it's free achiev, it takes just about 1,5 hour with 150%...

Even though Explore Northrend itself is now an account level achievement, and thus can only be completed once per account, completing the individual criteria will result in the Tabard of the Explorer being mailed to that character and added to their recoverable tabards at the tabard vendor.

Given that Loremaster's Colors is given to all characters after you have completed The Loremaster, also an account level achievement, i suspect that the Tabard of the Explorer is actually awarded not by completing Explore Northrend or the individual achievements it requires, but by completely filling in a characters Northrend map.

(Tested today with my hunter Brantigg on The Forgotten Coast - US)

Since this Tabard is only sent to the character you earned the achievement on, you can visit a Tabard vendor and collect it on your other characters on the account.

I'm a solo ftp player and managed this as a 20th level N.E. hunter (ships started going there after Pandera for me (they took away the Outland though)). I can't get my Tabard because I can't access a mailbox.... any suggestions (apart from upgrading?)
