Very, very easy to do with a few people. Get a little AoE, clear to the rookery.

Clear the MANY WHELPS and succeed where Leeroy failed.

You have a 32.33, repeating of course, percent chance of completing this achievement.

sooooo i just did this on the PTR admist a server reset and thank the lucky stars that lag saved us because when the lag stopped bout 20 SoC blew up killing almost the whole room at once getting us all the achivment

Party/raid achievement. Even at level 80, this would be pretty difficult for most classes to solo.
Impossible to solo, actually. It requires 3 to click the Altar to activate the Pyroguard fight - and killing him is required to access the Rookery.

Edit (3.0.8): Not true now, 3.0.8 lifts the requirement for 3 people to click the altar. Soloable now, if you really want to.

I believe the 15 second counter starts when the first one dies, and you have to kill 49 others within 15 seconds, is this correct?

This would mean you can open all the eggs and start killing when there is 50 in the room.
You can go in with 10 people, have (preferably) Paladin gather 'em up, and have some AoE classes bombard the crap out of them.

This is easier than you think, I went in with my prot warrior, I had an active moonkin and feral druid on autofollow (to activate the pyroguard).

Between thunderclap, shockwave and whatever it is moonkin do that does AoE, we got them down in a few seconds. As long as you have some sort of AoE tank, it wont be particularly challenging.

The 15 second timer starts as soon as the first whelp dies, so hold off on AoEing them until you've rounded them all up.

There'll be a few large Dragonkin wandering around the room. Kill them BEFORE you attempt this achievement. The whelps hit like girls and will drop after only a few AoEs, but the larger mobs will throw a serious monkey wrench into your plans.

Whelps hang around their eggs for about ~2 seconds before they aggro on people from proximity/social aggro, so be sure to hit them with something so they don't run off and go for your group.

The eggs also respawn very fast. If you AoE a whole bunch of whelps down but didn't quite do it fast enough for the achievement, go back to the entrance of the room and wait 5 minutes for the eggs to respawn.

Attained last night, 10/14/08 on Spinebreaker (and this can be confirmed by going into my profile and checking my armory). Prot paladin, 2 hunters, 2 warlocks. No heals besides Seal of Light.

It's impossible to solo this achievement as you need 2 other people to start the Pyroguard Emberseer event and open the door to the Rookery.

this achievement is much easier if you have a lock in your party. i just did this today with 9 others. tank and healer went into room to gather all the whelp. once they had them all, the brought them outside and everyone went AoE crazy. as a 70 lock with 900 spell damage, i did http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27243 and http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=27209 which killed the seeded whelp and instantly caused the seed to ignite killing all the remaining whelp... and it caused my framerate to drop to about 5fps lol...

Did this yesterday with a 5m group.

Setup was Prot Warrior, Prot Pally, Retri Pally, Holy Priest and Me as a Mutilate rogue.

We figured "Rather get to many than to few whelps" so the 2 tanks ran around hatching everything possible.
Pulled them all together, Warrior went Serkstance for whirlwinds, Both Pallys did Concentration and the Retri did the new whirlwind thingy. As a Mutilaterogue I had a hard time here, so I threw a Fel Iron Grenade, and just tabbed like a crazyperson to get a few hits on mobs. The Priest did HolyNova and those heals where enough to keep all 5 of us alive.

Got the achievement done when half our bunsh of whelps where still alive, guess we pulled a few to many huh ;)

We where all ~T5 geared, so with 2 tanks and some "Propper" AoE this should be doable at almost any gearlevel I think, just dont let that healer get aggro :)

I got the achievement, but I can't remove the title from my character pane... Is this a bug? Is there an alternate way of removing it other than the pulldown menu in the character pane?

As much as I like the title, I'm not sure I want it on 100% of the time. :)

thats the only way. and you may have to relog for the title to work properly.

Not sure if this is a bug, but once we completed the achievement, spell power was doubled for the healers. Doubled. I was landing 17-22k Holy Lights regularly. >.<
We did break UBRS slightly though, we pulled so many whelps that as soon as we did our AoE, the whole raid DC'd hehe. Very funny achievement.

I got this today. Me (tankadin) and 2 fire mages in the live version at lvl 70.

The trick is to have one guy gather all the whelps while the others wait far away so they don't aggro. Run around the room and break the eggs. You will find that they don't always aggro to anyone but hover in place. So run to the far end of the room and then back, aggroing the whelps as you return to the group. It's fairly simple then to aoe them all.

We tried a few times to run around breaking them and killing them but that doesn't work. They die, but they just don't spawn fast enough.

just got this today, for all who are wondering the room with the whelps are just past the 1st boss and they have a very fast respawn timer, so even if you kill them all first time and dont get it, you can try again in about 2 mins

I think that best tactic is open eggs with somebody who has stealth and after run to end of hall an pull all whelps.After this aoe them.

Be careful u can make any dmg during the pull because u start achievement time (15sec)

Best puller is druid.In stealth cross to end of hall and change to bear and on back way pull all whelps.

just by looking to the date you can say it's pre-wotlk since it's not released yet.

Any recommended party setup and recommended number of players?
a good tank and healer, rest preferred as aoe damagers but single target works as well. we did with 1 tankadin, 1 resto druid, 1 mage (frost), 1 warlock (aff) and 1 shammy (ench)... we were all in epic gears. tank gathered like 70-80 whelps (i can say this because although we got the achievement complete message i was still spamming seed of corruption to the mobs that are left behind) but still it was pretty easy...

And, most importantly, does it give title to anyone who participated in event, or only to the one who killed the whelps? whole party...

If there is any doubt about the difficulty of this achievement, just look and see how many people have this title (if your server is anything like mine).

70 hunter, mage and shadow priest did this last night (though I'm not sure if the shadow priest was DPS or heals--I was too busy gathering whelps as the hunter). My only point in this is you don't need a tank if you don't have one handy.

Real easy, let your tank, or anyone with a shield/lots of health round them all up, and AoE. We bought 10 people, but after a living bomb and a flamestrike they were dead, and doing 8k dps I think you can do it with 1 half decent AoE class.

Just completed this with myself (fury spec in ~kara prot gear), arcane mage, holy paladin.
I started by pulling lots of whelps, then mage started aoe'ing, when he was low on hp I did channeling shout and died before the mage finished them off.

It took us 3 tries to get enough whelps and not to die in the process.

Solo'd this achievement tonight as a 70 BM hunter. Level 70 Gorilla pet w/ Last Stand, 15k+ armor, 10k HPs, 7 sec Thunderstomp. 2 piece T5 and the amazing new Volley. Pretty much impossible if Last Stand isn't up since you'll need that extra few seconds to gather up enough whelps. Took quite a few tries but I finally got it. Used 2 alt accounts to summon the fire dude/rez after attempts. Pentaclis of Spirestone

Ok this is a long guide on how to get this from the VERY start .

Finding Blackrock Spire
Blackrock spire is where blackrock depths is: the place between searing gorge and burning steppes. Go there first. From the entrance to the mountain from searing gorge, turn left and find the chain that heads down to blackrock depths. Go up the chains, and turn LEFT (away from brd). For some computers, it might be easier to see if you raise your gamma, which can be found in the video options. Turn left and get off the chain, go past the hand that’s holding the chain, and go straight until you can jump onto a little balcony. You should see the portal into blackrock spire.

Getting into UBRS

note: as of 3.0.8, the door is now opened, so doing everything below is totally optional. you also no longer need 3 people, so its also very soloable.

When you get into brs, around 20 yards ahead there’s going to be a small bridge. On the ends of the bridge, the left end is the entrance to upper blackrock spire, and to the right is the entrance to lower brs. In order to open the door to ubrs, you need to get Seal of Ascension, which involves a quest chain. The door is not targetable (no gear icon when scrolling over), which means lockpicking or seaforium charges wont work.
The chain starts when you get an item called Unadorned Seal of Ascension, which is a random drop from any of the mobs in lower blackrock spire. You must get this item before you begin, so start grinding =). It dropped for me after around 25 minutes of killing as a rogue…for some of you it will drop within 2 mobs for others maybe even longer.
Once you get the seal, you have to go to an npc named Vaelan…theres a good video on how to find him posted by Lieandra on Vaelan’s page.
If you have the unadorned seal in your inventory, he will give you a quest which involves killing the 1st, 3rd, and last boss of lower brs.
Although LBRS may seem like a maze, just explore wherever you can explore WITHOUT FALLING OFF RANDOM CLIFFS (like i did), and you can eventually find all the bosses. For players who cannot stealth or aren't above level 65, getting a group is the best way to do this. For level 80's, this should be easy.
Anyways so after getting each of the above mentioned bosses' drop, return to Vaelan and he will give you a second quest.

For the second quest, you need to almost kill a mob in dustwallow marsh named Emberstrife who is about as hard as the the last boss of lbrs (who you should have killed anyways). He is in dustwallow marsh, south of wyrmbog inside a cave thats visible on the map.
Go there, and inside the cave you will find nothing but Emberstrife. In your inventory you should find Vaelan's Gift. There are 2 items inside: One that releases the Unforged Seal and one that mind controls Emberstrife. Before/while you engage him, use the unforged seal and it should release a small item labeled unforged seal of ascension. Whether you are soloing him or not, DO NOT KILL HIM. Burn him down to around 10% and use the mind control item. While controlling Emberstrife, use Flames of the Black Flight (not flame breath) towards the unforged seal. Although the quest log says your mind control time is very limited, its around 10 seconds, which is more than enough. This should all be very easy if you are level 80...the only thing you have to be careful with is not to kill Emberstrife, meaning don't overload on dot's and be careful with auto attack for melee.

After this, your unforged seal should read forged seal. Release the mc and kill emberstrife. Head back to Vaelan.

Once at Vaelan, hand in the quest and he should award you with the Seal of Ascension.

Now go to the door to UBRS with the ring in your inventory and the closed door should open.

Doing the achievement
Sorry for the wall of text above, tried to be as clear as possible. When you go in, you should see small rooms with orcs inside. At the end of the large room, there is a closed door. In order to open it, you must kill ALL mobs inside EVERY SINGLE ROOM. Once done, the door will open.
In the next room, you will see Pyroguard Emberseer with some non elites casting at him. At this point, you will need ~~THREE PEOPLE~~ one person (as of 3.0.8). To the left, there is an altar...you must click and cast, and soon the non elites will aggro. Kill them, and after using the altar again (not sure if using it is again is required), Pyroguard should be killable. Kill him, and the door to the rookery whelps should be open. Inside that room you will see a few elite dragons and around a hundred rookery eggs. Have someone pull the elites out and kill them...its ok to aggro a few eggs but just try to aggro as few as possible.
How the eggs work is this: once you get very near them, even while stealthed, they will hatch and spawn a rookery whelp, which dies after 2 minutes. The whelps that spawn will aggro if you dont walk away fast enough. If you are stealthed, you wont aggro the whelps. There should be a huge number of eggs here.

Sorry for wall of text, but there didnt seem to be any full guides so I just wrote one myself. Hope this helps =), and gluck all of you with your titles.

at level 70, it is soloable but much easier to bring a group like I did.
at level 80, this should be easy. its even soloable as of 3.0.8 since there is no longer a key and only one person is needed to activate pyroguard.

Very easy to solo as a Protection Paladin. I typed /who searing to find nearby lower level players to help me get passed that stupid first boss. I planed on just getting my UBRS achievement but on the way back I tried to solo it. Just run around with devotion aura, aggro like 60-75, and use concentrate, be sure not to hit any of them with your weapon, as killing one too early will start the 15 second timer.

They started to die for me at the end of the 2nd, beginning of the 3rd AoE.

Note that if you fail on your first attempt, all the eggs respawn after a few moments, meaning you won't have to reset the instance and clear the first areas again.

Some more facts:

If you die, DO NOT release your spirit, you will still get the achievement.
AoE is a must for this achievement
The 15 second timer starts as soon as one whelp dies
The Whelps are located in UBRS, meaning you or a party member must have the Seal of Ascension to gain access to this.
In order to get to the Whelps once in UBRS, you need 3 or more people to summon the first boss and kill him in order to progress.
Once you have the achievement, go to your character panel to turn the title on or off.

It's in Upper Blackrock Spire, which requires one member of your raid to have a key to enter.

The achievement itself is pretty basic. Send a tank in to hatch as many eggs as possible and shift-click the achievement to track your progress. Once there's a huge mob of whelps, have your tank return to the group and start attacking and AoEing the heck out of em.

Have fun with your title.

Be sure not to aggro too many... im a 71 dk and i aggro'd WELL OVER the amounted needed and killed me and the other dk in my party, luckily we are unholy spec'd so we went into ghoul form and were around long enough to lag out right after 50 whelps died :P, just a warning... if you take on too many....your gunna die...possibly cause someone else to die along with you.

we didn't bother with a healer wich was a bad move, its not needed but its recommended in case you go overboard on aggro's

the seal take quite a bit of time to get... it did for me anyway... im going to suggest you get it yourself though.. not sure about other servers but on my server there are never groups forming for this achievement so you should just get the seal yourself and form a group yourself if thats how it is on your server.

Am I the only person alive who thinks this is the stupidest achivement in the game?

Don't get me wrong, I like Leeroy and I thought the rest of his guild (based on what I saw in the video) were a bunch of over-anally retentive poindexters, but I mean, really... An achivement? And with a title yet? Jenkins?

What's next? If you can cap the flag in WSG while wearing the Twill cloth set, you get to have the title "Cranius" after your name? Please...

Color me clueless, because I just don't get the attraction to this one...

Since you don't need to be three persons to summon the first boss anymore: Easily soloed as a level 80 Death Knight. Just run over all the eggs and keep a distance, the whelps won't be mad at you unless you bump into them. Just hatch a lot of them and pull them all.

Very easy to do as a resto shaman at level 80.

Kill the dragonkin mobs in the room to clear up some space.
Put Earth Shield on yourself.
Run around the room running over eggs to hatch them.
Heal yourself as necessary (Riptide helps).
Keep healing yourself for about 10-15 seconds to build sufficient threat.
Drop Magma Totem and watch them die nearly all at once after a few tics.

You will be taking more damage than you might think with 50 of these little guys hitting on you, so be prepared. If you don't have the anti-pushback talent you'll probably get overwhelmed.

As a rogue, you can stealth through to open all the eggs so they won't aggro immediately.
This way, you can line up all that you need, sprint through to collect 'em all, evasion, then spam Fan of Knives 'til you get the achievement.
Just solo'd as an 80 rogue.

Absurdly easy to solo as a feral druid now after 3.0.8. Stealth hatch as many as you think you need. Once you have enough, gather them and hit Cat Swipe. Have a Tiger's Fury ready and pop it if you need to. A few swipes and I was done before I realized it.

Soloing as a Level 80 Mage

Spec: Full Frost
Status: Retired Raider
Gear Minimum: Did it in old T6, but threw on full Frostweave (Tailored PvP set) for another clear just to see if gear is really needed or not. Nax/Heroic Gear isn't required to do this achievement.

Since the patch change, you can now take out the fire elemental boss and open the door by yourself, and it is possible to solo for the achievement. As mentioned before, if you fail or need to restart the eggs/welps can respawn for more attempts.

I used a reasonable strat that is good as frost. Take out the elite hatchers on the ground floor where the eggs are before hatching anything. Then, procede up the ramp and kill more elite drakekin and a patting orc or two where you have the upper platform overlooking the egg room to yourself. Once cleared, go back down and start hatching the eggs around the room by running and hopping over eggs, never stopping or attacking. The goal here is to hatch eggs but not aggro or kill a single welp. The 15 second timer for the Achievement begins as soon as a hatchling is killed. We want some peace right now.

Once you feel you have 50 hatched and you are out of combat and free. Go back up to the ramp, easily dodging grey leveled freshly-hatched welps along the way. After the ramp to the second level, stay on the platform overlooking the egg room and go as far down as you can. Summon a water elemental. We are now gonna bring all those welps up to your platform.

To bring the welps to your platform, you now have to use some coordination with your frost pet. As if you are staring at the far side of the room that is away from the platform, have your pet attack a welp group on the opposite side of the room, while you attack a welp group that is directly underneath the platform you are standing on. If you attack the farthest left groups in the room (near the event-starting glowing crystal), the aggroed welps will pull the other groups you hatched while they make their way to the ramp that leads to your platform. Note: As soon as your elemental gets a shot off, stop his attacks/put him on passive immediately so he wont kill a welp early and mess up your 15 second time!

If you did it right, you should have a wave of welps coming up the ramp and toward you and onto your platform. Don't panic. You could just spam blizzard now as they climb your ramp, but if the spawns are spread out too much when coming up, you could risk missing your achievement time. Just use your good judgement. If you got them pretty well grouped, get your achievement now on the platform by spamming Blizzard on the approaching wave. Here's the Safe/Gaurenteed Way: Let them get close, and if needed use your pet's nova on the first part of the wave to get them grouped better (something like an early pet nova on the front few welps as soon as they turn onto your platform from the ramp). As soon as they get close, hop down into the egg room.

If you hopped down you should have a cleaner egg room. The good news is the welps will now turn around and go back down the ramp instead of hopping down after you. You should all of a sudden see a ton of red above you along with your elemental pet coming toward the ramp in front of you. Now the easy part: Spam Blizzard. Spam it on the ramp and the base below it, keeping it in front of the welp group. After 3 solid Blizzards (maybe a few more if lag allowed a welp to go passed your first blizzard) you got your achievement.

Sorry for the wall of text. I am sure there are better strats for a mage, but this one had less risk and killed all the welps at the same time.

Easily soloable as a DK. Kill all the elites first, aggro a bunch of whelps. Then, lay down a Death & Decay, make your ghoul cast Corpse Explosion, and then you're done.

This can be soloed as a shadowpriest in Naxx10/EoH/rep/crafted gear. It took a couple tries to work out the right way to do it, and to get a feel for the right "mass" of whelps to make 50. As others have mentioned, it's possible to open the door solo, so that no longer is an issue.

Once in the room, run to each pile of eggs and hatch all of them. For each group, be sure to move clear before aggroing the whelps. There's a moment after they spawn where they won't aggro, and you have a very small aggro radius for them at level 80. Moving from group to group to group and ending up in a clear area on the far side of the room works. Now take out the non-whelp dragonkin in the room. You don't want to be taking any extra damage from them once you start pulling the whelps.

Now it's time for the pull. Make sure you're buffed with Fort. Put a renew on yourself, and cast PW:S. Then, once again move from group to group to group, this time aggroing the whelps. Because they already have been spawned, they will aggro immediately, which is what you want. Do this until you think you have 50 whelps. You want them collected as fast as possible because you won't start attacking them until you have all 50. It takes between half and 2/3 of the main floor of the room to get 50. When you think you have about 20 or so, cast Dispersion for the 90% damage reduction. This will give you time to get all 50 rounded up without taking much damage. Even though individually they don't do much damage, the sheer number of them will mean you're taking significant damage without Dispersion.

Once you have all 50 rounded up, your Dispersion should be just about done. The instant that it wears off, just spam Holy Nova. Spam your heart out. It's a race to kill the 50+ whelps on your before they kill you.

Note that it took me a couple tries to work this out. In my first try, I used Mind Sear instead of Holy Nova. Unfortunately, the whelps' combined damage killed me when they all were at about 10-15% health. Holy Nova does some self-healing and that turns the tide in your favor. Maybe the Mind Sear approach could be done with all BiS gear, but Holy Nova definitely works with less than perfect gear, so I figure it's the superior strategy.

I haven't tried it, but I expect a Discipline priest could achieve this too by replacing the use of Dispersion with Pain Suppression while gathering the whelps. Pain Suppression and their more powerful PW:S probably would have effectiveness very similar to Dispersion.

I'm not sure about a holy priest. Perhaps Guardian Spirit cast just before the first pull of whelps would boost the effectiveness of the Renew and Holy Nova enough to keep the priest alive long enough. Or perhaps saving it until late in the fight and getting the big heal when it sacrificed itself would work.

As of patch 3.0.8 death knights should find it really simple to solo this.

I did this on my first try, though you might get some hellish lag spikes:/

Would advise to equip tanking gear if possible, 2 Death and Decays were enough to kill all of them.

Just solo'd this as a rogue, here's how:

Kill the dragon's wandering around in the room. Then just walk over all the eggs on the room to spawn the whelps, don't kill them yet.

When you have spawned enough whelps, stand somewhere safe, make sure your cooldowns are up, hit sprint, run around the room to gather all whelps, hit Blade Flurry, hit Evasion and spam FoK. When you have 0 energy hit Adreniline Rush so you can spam more FoK's.

Easy!

Hi all. Just done: keep the left once entered, go straight until the summoning stone and enter. As patch 3.0.8 u don't have to complete any quest or chain, Ubrs doors could be opened clearing all mobs in the related room. Enter, defeat the boss in the next room (easy soled as 80 prot war) and proceed in room where the whelps are: aggro them and aoe (or refer to the previous post to better understand the simple tactics).

Definitely soloable as a lvl 80 paladin (ret at least) with some 16k hp, though I'm sure no one expected otherwise. ;)

The key is to survive the collection of +50 whelps and the duration of two consecrations; Sacred Shield helps a bit, but it's pretty much just a matter of:
1 - Pick up +50 whelps with retribution aura off; you should be almost dead so use DS at the end.
2 - Apply retribution aura.
3 - Use consecration.
4 - Heal up.
5 - Use consecration.
6 - Collect achievement.

I waited with applying ret aura in order to get all the kills as close together as possible, but I suspect that was unnecessary.

Accomplished with a level 70 prot pally and priest, my pally ran around collecting all of the rookery eggs, halfway through I cast my bubble, and lay on hands on myself, then when I was certain we got them all, I activated my retribution aura, then consecrate level 6. The priest then spammed Holy Nova, while my pally threw down a Fel Iron Bomb (used instead of Adamantite Grenade because the Bomb has a wider range), got achievement in 10 seconds. Really fun.

As of 3.09, this can only be accomplished as part of a party. Not because of the altar opening part (you can attack the priest in front of the door to start the event) but because whelps killed solo are NOT counted towards your total. I cleared out the room solo and ended up with 0/50. I then grouped with a friend who was outside the instance, retried and got it in a few seconds.

Just did this tonight. One lock and four DKs. Lock and one DK were 70, the other three DK's were around 62. Cleared to the room, pulled out the first two dragon pulls, then all ran as a group thru the welp eggs, piled up on the opposite wall with just enough life left to cast D&D x4, get the title and die. lol.

Good times were had by all. Grats to my brethren in Dead Poets Society of Durotan! I love you Moo!

Soloed this with my arena s1/s2 lvl 70 demon warlock. Rushed in, broke some eggs and then let my voidwalker pull as many of the whelps as possible before I got aggro. Then I simply ran to my void, went into metamorphosis, used demonic empowered, immolation aura, healthstone + healing pot and casted two seed of corruption.

Easily soloable as an 80 rogue. Just stealth and walk over all the eggs and when all the whelps are up, pop evasion and sprint, aggro em all into the middle and fan of knives. I'm mutilate spec so I have cold blood as well, so I popped that too. Ended up at 41k dps on the pull, fun achievement.

Fist of all find the instance which is located at burning steppes, go
to the Blackrock Mountain.. All you have to do to find it is follow the way up,
and when you notice a big statue holding up a chain then pass over the chains
and continue straight.. When you find a crossroad choose the right way..
Follow that way and you will find the instance to the Upper Blackrock spire

To open the first gate you dont have to quest or somethin', you just have to
kill the mobs around.. To do this faster you should better first kill the summoners

To open the second gate you have to activate the altar near the boss and kill the non-elite
mobs around the boss.. After killing activate the altar again and after about 20sec. the boss
will attack you ! Soloable at 65lvl+ easy - 24k hp.

A few meters away lie down a lot of eggs.. You cant right-click to the eggs. To let the whelps
spawn you just have to stand near the eggs and wait till you get aggro. Start running until you gather
almost all eggs in the room at the 2nd corner start doing all of your AoE spells.. The whelps have about
2700hp. It should be easy to kill them within 15 seconds..
Personaly i used Howling Blast twice and Death and Decay and killed them in less than 10sec.

But care ! : in the same room there are 2 elites. You can aggro them without loosing many eggs
but better be careful. The counter of Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy! starts after killing the first Whelp.
If you die be sure that you can try again as many times you want.
Once after completing the achievement you will immidiately recieve the title of " Jenkins "

I think that it is the easiest title to obtain and also looks nice.
I easily completed it with at DK tank ( 29k hp, 530 DR )
My Jenkins Char is at Tarren Mill " Runor "

Advise : If you are high lever better get some friend of yours who would like the title too :D

Easily soloed as a 80 unholy DK, I recommend you to have specced in Shadow of Death before you try.
First of all I ended off the adds/mobs around the eggs.
Do this without aggroing the egg.
After that do a Leeroy aggro and run straight for the eggs(Try running for the biggest groups of eggs)
I didn't really count but when you got about 50 whelps in your back put up an AoE.
For an example: Death and Decay.
After some seconds you'll hopefully be dead, when you then spawn as a ghoul.
Immediately use Explode.
Not hard at all^^
Oh and don't spawn your "ghoul pet" before you've got 50 whelps after you.

Incredibly easy to solo as a Frost DK(either dps or tank, doesnt matter)
Just run in aggro them all, I was in tank gear and tank spec at the time so I took very little damage.
Use hungering cold (so you can get your frost fever on all of them) then cast deathchill (so your next howling blast will crit on everything) after that just use howling blast and bask in the glory, I was tank spec at the time and my Howling blast crits for about 4-5k each so it was a 1 shot to all the little whelps.
EDIT: I am Lvl 80 and in mostly heroic epics with some blues. Also I dont know how to hyperlink(yes I know, fail)

This achievement is solo'able indeed... At least by a level 80 feral druid.

I went to UBRS to help a guildie (resto druid) kill the last boss, and when done we passed the room with the whelps. As he didn't have the achievement, we decided to try if we could get it for him, just the two of us.

As we were running around gathering whelps, he died while still in the opposite end of the room from me. "Damn-damn-damn" I though, as I had a huge amount of whelps on me at the time and was sure I'd drop dead as well.
-But then I started using swipe... and suddenly he got the achievement and all the whelps were dead - so I could happily bounce over and rez him while we laughed at the craziness of it all :)

It wasn't hard at all really - if you wanna try it just make sure to get rid of thorns before you start, not to start the kill count too early. -Oh, and be in bear form ofc... The whelps doesn't hit hard and they miss a lot, but with 50+ of them beating on you, extra armor and dodge is useful anyway ;-)

Solo'd this just now on my 78 retri paladin.
The trick is to first hatch 50 whelps without agroing them. When you have hatched 50, quickly round them up, consecrate and pop Divine Protection. Then start spamming Holy Light (or use Lay on Hands if you're very low on hp already) and renew consecrate while still spamming Holy Light. 2 Consecrates is all it should take for the whelps to die. I have just done this achievement preety easily with me(lvl 54 holy paladin), a lvl 57 warrior tank and a lvl 55 MM hunter. Warrior just went in aggroed some eggs i used consecration and spammed flash of light and the hunter just volleyed them down. I was first wondering how come I cant get into the room where the Fire Boss was.

As far as I know after patch 3.0.9 you no longer need the key to get to the Fire Boss and also to get to the whelps and get this Title.

1.You need to clear the room before the fire boss and then you will be able to get to the boss. You need 1-4 people to go to the stone and start the summoning. I am not sure about how much people but we had about 4 at the boss summoning not the trash summoning.
2. After you have killed the boss then you can get the door unlocked to the room with all the whelps.
3. Send someone running down that whole room and agrooing everything.
4. Everyone AoE's the whelps.

The reason for running down the whole room is that whelps dont come out of the eggs unless you run pass them go over them or touch them. These whelps have about 2k-3k health. Be sure to have a lot of good AoErs for that 15 seconds!

Ez. I can't believe my eyes when I see someones LFG group for this achievement. Before "nerf" you needed atleast 2 guys (+ you) that you can get pass that one boss, but now you can do it alone and you don't need the key either. For some classes, depends gear and skills, it can be suicide mission. When I did that for my DK just right after ding lvl 80 I died, but still managed to get that awesome title.

Just did it solo as a level 75 ret paladin without using my lay on hands

Prep:

1. Use a shield and wear all your gear that gives stamina. I had 14.7k armor and 13.2k health.
2. Use dev aura, seal of light, judgement of light
3. Glyph of consecration helps, mine lasts 10 seconds and does 1511 damage.

Go in and clear the room of all mobs, don't worry if a few eggs hatch. Wait outside until they respawn, then run two laps through the room. At the end of the second lap

1. Consecration
2. Move so you are facing the whelps, you want them in front of you
3. Bubble when your health falls to 20%
4. Bandage and heal to 100%
5. Refresh consecration
-bubble expires-
6. Judge, pray for a crit so art of war goes off and you can instant cast flash of light
7. Lay on hands or health pot

I burned my lay on hands in a prior attempt, so I drank a runic healing pot instead. Ended the fight with 380hp.

The only reason I succeeded was I have pursuit of justice, which let me stay ahead of the swarm of whelps, so I was at 95% health when I layed down the first consecration.

Don't bother attacking until after you come out of your bubble. The two concescrations should kill all the whelps, your only reason to attack is to get some health back.

Soloed after a few tries with my warlock. The strategy isn't that hard to figure out:

1. Clear the balcony above.
2. Crack most of the eggs in the room, spawning the whelps.
3. Walk up the ramp, stand in the middle of the balcony.
3. Send in your Voidwalker to aggro about 50 whelps.
4. Spam Seed of Corruption. By the time your voidwalker dies you should have gotten about 4 or 5 seeds off, enough to safely kill all the whelps.

It may be a good idea to be at full health before attempting this otherwise the health ticks from fel armor will be enough to aggro the whelps.

ok, to "Spell it out" - all you have to do is round up 50 of the Rookery Whelps, and it's difficult to know exactly how many you have - you DO NOT have to round them up AND kill them within 15 seconds, but you DO have to kill 50 of them within 15 seconds.

I did it solo as a 80 Holy Pally, and once I thought I had enough eggs popped, I turned on Retribution aura and then Consecrate and killed them within 15 seconds. For those who have not done it, and are currently doing it, you'll know when you got it when the acheivement flashes on your screen.

Your name will instantly be modified after that.

Me and a friend of mine tried it with only the 2 of us, me (lvl 73 ret palladin) and Fuseland (lvl 70 prot warrior), what we did was:

-use retribution arua
-shield fuseland + myself and both run in
-hatch and aggro ALL the whelps (didn't read the guide rofl)
-i used consecration and divine storm
-i died first, but i could use consecration once more just before i died
-fuseland was left with 200 hp when he stunned them all and used shockwave
-46 whelps where down when fuseland died, but thanks to my consecration 4 more died

i know it was stupid to aggro all the whelps, but we got our title :D

Solo'd this with a 72 Elemental Shaman (Elemental is necessary because of the Thunderstorm AoE and the knock back and also the Storm, Earth and Fire talent because of the "rooting" you get for Earthbind Totem, though this is probably not a necessity, it does help). My Shaman was also a Draenei, which helped (because of Gift of the Naruu) but I don't think it was necessary either. I also had a Glyph of Stoneclaw Totem, which gives you a shield of protection, which helps out with rounding them up and with the final bring down. Here is what I did -

First, you want to count out your eggs, so that you get enough without getting too many. I found that making a path around the pillar on the left of the entrance up and around the ramp up to the next level and back down around the pillar on the right of the entrance was a good fit, but either way, just make sure you get the right amount. After you have your path marked out, go around and hatch the eggs by running over them and then continue your path around from where you first started, back and around to aggro them all. When I start my path to aggro them, I cast a Stoneclaw Totem, for the shield, and somewhere around the ramp part, when they are all close by and packed together, I throw down an Earthbind Totem and continue down to where I started my path. I continue running into the previous room, where you fight Pyroguard Emberseer, you will have enough time to cast some heals if you need them, but when they are all in range, cast your Thunderstorm. They will get knocked back and you will again have a brief second to heal if need be, as soon as you can, throw an Earthbind Totem again and continue to run around the platform in the middle of the room (where Pyroguard Emberseer starts out) but not too fast or they will come at you from both sides and you want them following you on one side or the other, not both. What you are basically doing is buying time for your Thunderstorm to cooldown (you can use a Glyph to reduce the cooldown by 10 secs, though it is not necessary, as I did not use it either). When you see your Thunderstorm is about ready, then throw down a Stoneclaw Totem to help absorb the damage and also a Magma Totem to help burn them down since your Thunderstorm will probably be just shy of finishing them off after two casts (though this will obviously depend on your Spell Power). As soon as they are all within range again, cast Thunderstorm and then get ready to spam Lesser Healing Wave while the Magma Totem finishes them off.

Now you can apply this to other classes and essentially do the same thing, at least for any class that has an AoE spell. Just AoE, snare buy time for cooldown or heals, then AoE again.

Easiest title in the game if you ask me.

Since it is no longer required to have the seal or X number of people at the altar to summon the boss, you could do this with a tank and a mage (I would say 75+ would be easiest). I would take a paladin or a blood dk, since they're the only tank classes that can self-heal (druids would have to go out of form, which is dangerous). Track the achievement - it helps see how far away you are when you start burning down the enemies.

Once the door is open, the tank runs in and hatches every egg in the room, all the way to the back. If it's a paladin, Seal of Light would probably be best to negate as much damage as you can (with a good defense and dodge rating this won't be tough). Then, drag them all back to the door. The mage should now go all out with whatever AoE they have. If they're not a fire mage, I would stick with Blizzard, but if otherwise then Dragon's Breath would be great, maybe blast wave, though it gives a knockback.

I soloed this achievement last night using my level 72 Blood Elf Death Knight (frost specialization). I'm sure there are as many different ways to gain this achievement as there are Rookery Whelps, but this is how I did it.

1. I entered Blackrock Spires, ran past the elite orcs in the first room. and turned left into the room with the dragonkin.

2. You must kill all the mobs in the room; I would estimate about fifty of them. Be sure to kill the Blackhand Summoner's first in each side room as you go because they summon Blackhand Veterans to fight for them. Once everyone is dead, the large gold door in the back of the area will open. Go through it.

3. Once you pass through the doorway, turn left up a ramp and you will be greeted by roughly 4-5 more Blackhand soldiers. Kill them and keep moving.

4. You should now be in the large room with a dozen or so Blackhand Incarcerators who are casting spells at Pyroguard Emberseer in the center of the room. There is a stone altar off to the left. It only takes one person to right-click on the altar, which causes the Blackhand Incarcerators to aggro on you. Obviously, you must kill them. Once most of them are dead (or all of them depending on how quickly you slaughter them), Pyroguard Emberseer will give his little thanks for doing my dirty work speech, then attack you. Kill him and the door to the Rookery will open.

5. Peek inside and pull the two closest Rookery Hatchers (elite) from the doorway, kill them, then go further inside the rookery, but DO NOT get too close to the eggs or they will hatch and you don't want that to happen yet. Peer around the stone pillar to the left and pull a third dragonkin elite to you using a range attack of your choosing. The object is to pull and kill the elites without disturbing the eggs. Once the third elite is dead, it's time to hatch the eggs (There is a fourth elite on the far side of the room, but he never aggroed on me and I never needed to get close to him anyway).

6. Run around the eggs now and just by your mere presence they will start to hatch. You want fifty, so you'll definitely need to run by as many eggs as possible. Be sure to avoid that fourth dragonkin elite if you didn't kill him. When I was running on the eggs I kept getting stuck, so I just jumped all over the place as I ran. A good portion of the hatched Rookery Whelps didn't aggro on me after coming out of their shells, so I had to run back through and get their attention. I don't know if this will happen to you or not. Once you have fifty or more it's time to kill them all.

7. The fifteen second timer for the achievement does NOT begin until the first Rookery Whelp dies. If you have a pet, I would suggest setting it to passive or risk it killing one of the whelps too soon. Now that the whelps are circling around you, start smacking them with AoE spells until they are dead. Voila! You are ________ Jenkins. As a DK, I switched on Unbreakable Armor, then Deathchill (to make Howling Blast crit), followed by Howling Blast, Death and Decay, healed myself, Blood Boil, then finished them off with a second Howling Blast.

This was my first attempt at the achievement and I soloed it, so I must have done something right. =)

Just soloed as a 80 restoration druid. This is how I did it:

Started in catform and stealthed through all the eggs just to hatch them, and when I had over 50 hatchlings up, I went to a corner, HoTed up, changed to bear quickly and ran and picked up all the whelps. Changed to Tree of Life when I had gathered all, reHoTed, put up 3 stacks of lifebloom and made sure it would go off before I died ---> Barkskin, Hurricane.

Lots of dead whelps and a happy druid :)

This was easily done solo as a low to average geared 80 warrior with the new dual spec and shockwave.

Prot spec and Defensive stance with dps gear, endless rage flask, 40 str or 80 ap food and scroll of strength VIII.
With battle shout my shockwave was doing 4,000 dmg to ALL mobs in a 10yrd frontal cone, and my gear is not even raid gear. After pulling the ground lvl elites seperataly or clearing and waiting for the eggs to respawn just follow these simple steps. Bloodrage then Battle shout and run through the eggs making use of the pulling power of demo shout, hatch out loads of whelps then recover your steps using demo shout to pick up strays. Once you have a good crowd hit Challenging shout and back off into a corner. Now hit T clap followed by shockwave and hello achievment, if you havent quite got 50 then cleave followed by another T clap or stance dance and WW should do it. Look out for if you are almost there but not quite, a charge into any strays can cap it off. Easy solo

absolutely simple as a 11/55/5 Frost spec DK just run thorough to the other side grabing as many eggs as you can. let the eggs hatch but done agro any yet. Then get a good bunch up till your sure you have at least 50 turn & look at them all, pop your horn unbreakable armor & lichborn run through them all. Once your back at the entrance to to room throw down DnD get off an IT & Pestilence & spam BB till they are all dead. still had 90% health by doing this with no pots. Granted many failed attempts in the past due to lag I had no trouble this time, only have Heroic dungeon gear. hope this helps, gl!

to solo as a Death Knight:

Run around and crack all the eggs. At level 80 you will not pick up any agro if you're careful. Stand up on the balcony next to a dragonspawn and have your pet run around grabbing agro on all the whelps. He'll probably die, and all the whelps will agro to you. Hit the dragonspawn with Icy Touch, Plague Strike, Pestilence. Spam Blood boil.

Using frost presence, rune tap, lifeblood, icebound fortitude, bone shield, and a little luck, hopefully the whelps will die before you do. heh.

I don't know if it's been said, but if you die and stilll have AoE going, wait a bit before releasing. Just got this on my level 80 ret paladin(barely geared for heroics) and even though i was dead my Consecration lasted just long enough after to kill them all off and i got the achievement.

This is a solo guide for a warrior.

Probably the hardest to solo... maybe. Pain in the butt compared to others for sure. Since warriors do not have a spammable AOE and what we have doesn't exactly do much damage.

I did this at 78.

Unbuffed stats:
17438 HP
~2k AP
~13% dodge, block, parry
-50% damage from armor
466 defense

This is just a crappy set of stam and defense gear I grabbed off the AH. None of them are ilevel 200. Obviously better geared folks will have a much easier time... but I couldn't wait.

Talents:
Shockwave, Improved Thunderclap, and Piercing Howl. Take whatever survivability talents you can.

Pretty sure Shockwave and Thunderclap are the only warrior abilities that aren't target capped. After 2 tries as fury and arms using only thunderclap I chose to go prot and take shockwave since the last 2 attempts left me ~10 or so whelps short and thunderclap on cooldown... or dead.

Strategy:
Clear the area of the dragonkin. And pick a spot where you want to start. I counted ~50 eggs I wanted to break. You don't want to break too much or else you might die.

Now start breaking your eggs by running near/over them. Start spamming piercing howl as they hit you and move to the next set of eggs. You should be kiting most of the whelps. This should really help reduce the damage you take while herding them.

Once you got enough, put your back to a wall (this is important for shockwave, since you don't want to miss some whelps if some end up behind you). Start using thunderclap until the first whelp or so dies... this will begin the 15s timer and most of the whelps should be really low on health. At that point use your shockwave to finish off and possibly a thunderclap afterwards (shouldn't need it).

I used enraged regeneration+commanding shout+shield wall+shield block to keep my health up through all this. I also used the herbalism's lifeblood (rank 6). I had potions, but didn't need it. My thunderclaps hit for about ~600 and shockwave ~1400. I didn't use the shockwave early since it can crit and 1 shot some whelps and you don't want a bunch of half dead whelps after the timer begins.

Actually IT IS completely soloable from the start to the end.Not easy to kill all the welps by yourself (depending on gear/class) but the altar part CAN be soloed.IF you look at the altar at the corners it has some mouths that open when you click it.If you click it multiple times without letting the mouths close completely the boss will be summoned.Just did on my hunter.

took me 2 times to get this. if you have a pet, turn it to passive otherwise yiur pet will go after the first whelp that attacks you. You only have 15 seconds to kill 50, and the first hit starts the clock. kill the 3 eilte dragons before going in.
Once ytou kill the 3 elites (2 at door and one patroling in the entry), then run around hatching the eggs (just get close to them). some whelps might attack right away, but don't hit it until you are sure you have at least 50 hatched.
Once you have at least 50, then hit your AOE then turn on your pet to protect you. It goes quick.

I read everyone's comments and figured it'd be pretty easy with my Prot Warrior. Though it took a couple tries this is how I did it and what I learned.
I thought with my damage shield talent that I would cause damage while rounding up the whelps - not true
After I realized that I just ran around til I gathered up 50 or so and Thunderclap and Shockwaved them enough to kill 50. Took about 2-3 Thunderclaps and 1 Shockwave.
So in conclusion for Prot Warriors:
Run around, gather 50, Thunderclap, Shockwave, Thunderclap = Jenkins title
560 Def, 27k HP, 21% dodge and 2577 AP

Did this easely as a lvl 80 mage.

1. Get to the whelp room.
2. Kill the elites.
3. Go back to the door you came inn.
4. Go to the back and open as many eggs as posible.
5. Use Molten Armor and Mana Shield. (heal and get mana back up)
6. Run to the entrance while using Arcane Explosion, and collect as many welps as needed.
7. Grats on your new title.

Meh this is easy as a Prot Warrior. As noted timer doesn't start until first one dies. Just open all the eggs in the room (you won't die), then back into a corner so they don't attack your front. Then pop Shield Block, Thunderclap, Shockwave, anything that damages all of them..and you're done.

Just got this as a Destruction Warlock. What I did was put on Demon Armor for extra armor, put my Demonic Teleport on the ramp above the room, and I summoned my Voidwalker.

I started on the bottom room, ran across, aggroing many whelps. I used my Sacrifice ability to absorb ~8k damage. Once I had enough Whelps, I teleported up to the top ramp, which made the Whelps all head up the ramp to me. This grouped them up nicely. Then I used my Voidwalker's Suffering ability to aggro them all at once. Once they were grouped up on him, I Shadowfury'd them (to stun them), ran up close, Shadowflamed them (with Glyph, so they are slowed), then Rain of Fire'd until they all died.

Incidentally, this was my PVP spec, which explains the Shadowflame glyph.

With the new AoE nerf, it does make this a bit more difficult, but not impossible.

I was able to solo this on my Rogue yesterday. I just used sprint to round them up, popped Evasion, used Adrenaline Rush, and Fan of Knives them down.

My Fan of Knives usually hits for 800-1200 damage, but when hitting 50+ Wealps, I was doing about 200-250 damage.

In patch 3.3 they nerfed AOE a bit for numerous mobs on alot of the characters. My priest's mind sear, for example, used to be able to easily solo this achievement, but with the nerf it has made it much harder. Used to be that for any number of mobs on me over 10 I could hit for 1.5k-3k per tick which in the case of these welps, knocked them out in one to two ticks each. But now, if the whole room is aggro'd I do about 100 to 200 dmg to each one because of the nerf. Makes this Achievement harder to solo, not impossible if you lay your aoe down progressively across the room though.

At 80 you can run around the whole room and get all of the whelps to pop out of their eggs without aggroing them (well maybe not all of them but a large majority). When I do this I generally start at the door (pulling and killing the mobs in the room first of course) run back to the Father Flame crystal, then back up and up the ramp the second level balcony. I already pre-cleared the balcony and then I run to the far end of the balcony looking down on the Father Flame crystal.

Then I target any Whelp below and quickly cast mind sear on them but immediately break it. I don't want it to actually tick once I just want to aggro one of the whelps. He will start to run for the ramp up to the balcony and aggro a ton of whelps along the way. While this is happening I immediately run to the other end of the balcony and quickly click a whelp below and lay down mind sear on him. This time I let it start to tick and keep mind sear up as he heads up the ramp to the balcony (don't forget to bubble yourself first). Keeping mind sear active I pull up the whelps in more of a string spread out as they come into the nova range of the mind sear spell. This keeps the number that you are killing generally under 10 which is where the nerf begins, and the ticks are about 1.5-3k each.

If at the very end I am swarmed then I switch to Holy Nova and just start spamming it. Generally you should have all 50 killed within the 15 seconds. If you are about 7 seconds to finish and it says (track the achievement if you don't know to do that) that you have a few left to kill and the balcony is clear, then quickly jump down and holy nova any that are still popped on the bottom. But if you do it right and with practice you should get the achievement with the nerf, solo, as a priest, in the first try.

Don't know how it is for mages or other AOE damage classes. But if they also have problems because of the nerf to AOE damage, then they can use a similar principle (mage maybe can aggro and then cast a blizzard on the ramp up to the balcony letting the whelps run into it or something).

information from a girl for girls who want to find eggs and whelps: (I play a disc priest lv 80)

* 1st of all you must enter Blackrock Spire (BRS), not Blackrock Depths, in posts above you find some nice posts with guidelines how to find the ENTRANCE (chain, balcony, etc)
* after you enter BRS, find the 1st big room on the left, there are some smaller rooms in it, in order to go further you must kill all mobs in these small rooms, after you kill them the secret door will open at the end of the big room,
* then you will find next room with a fire boss Pyroguard Emberseer, click on the altar on left side, kill guards and boss
* next room you will see your longed for eggs
* GL with Leeeeeeroy
(btw. I couldnt do it solo on my 1st time, but I still think is workable).

Just wanted to say that this is very do-able. I got the title at lvl 45-48 before the WoTLK, with the help of a very good player by the name of Badaz, second only to Ssandmaan (who is busy playing his DK now lol) on Boulderfist. Wanted to be able to do this with my own guildies so I set out to solo last night cuz I was bored. I was curious if you could still get in at my earlier lvl so I looked it up and found this guide posted by Mandu which is right on as of last night February 19, with the edits given. After... and I do mean AFTER I killed the protector's in the room (without using any aoe as it starts the timer if you kill/damage a hatchling I believe and after a few seconds they aggro to you after the eggs open)... It was easy to open the the eggs with Holy Nova as I just ran down the first corridor on left as you enter, then from one end of the room to the other then in the second corridor and Mind Seared the whole room! at the far end of the room on the right is the way to the upper floors from that area. not easy to see if you are not really looking for it. Or of course you follow Leeeeeroy and just run into the room and fail lol ... Also there is a scene in the movie Year One in the special features you NEED to watch about this. And as of this point I still have not found the minimum level requirement to see if it has changed from BC days? If I find it I will post it here at some future date. Jac

Easily soloable as an 80 Paladin with no raiding gear. Just put Seal of Light up, cast Sacred Shield, run over half of the eggs in the room, go back to pick up the adds, and AoE them to death.

Just got the achievment, myself a level 70 prot dwarf warrior, a 74 draenei DK and a 69 human rogue killed about 200 of them in 15 seconds, they don't have a big agro radius so we cracked all the eggs and pulled them together and aoe'd their faces in. First title, super easy :)

Solo'd this as 80 boomkin and as a 80 prot pally on two different occasions. Boom: just walk around the room in cat stealth then put a few HoT's on and used dash to gather them all. Went to boom and put on barkskin and popped starfall and hurricane. Had this chiev within 2 seconds, very easy. Prot pally was easy also. Just break a ton of eggs and put up your sacred shield and gather. Once they are piled on you, put on ret aura, holy shield, and divine plea (if you have the glyph). Throw down a consecration and putting in a avenger's shield or hammer of righteous doesnt hurt. Should get the chiev within a few seconds, pretty easy. Hope this helps anyone thinking its terribly hard to solo

Okay, since noone has posted it, and it's already a middle of Brewfest, for those who are interested - there is a hint to get this title very easy. Just use the DF to get a group for Coren, kill him and die somehow. Ressurect at Thorium Point in SG and head back to Blackrock. That will save you all the running time. Since you are doing it at 80, by the time you reach the instance and rune trash-packs, you should have less than 5 mins of the debuff and you normally wont aggro anything on the way. If you are reckless - start clearing. Else drink some coffee before the sweet part. I wont describe the actual achievement part, as it was already heavily spammed that ANY class at 80 can do it even without heroic blues...Good luck!

I did this yesterday as Ret, fresh 80.
It's not that hard, but I died a couple of times until I figured out how to do it.

My strategy was to break eggs around the room (after clearing the room, of course) with Devotion Aura, aggroed whelps, popped Divine Protection, turned on Ret Aura, built up 1HPW with CS, bubbled, got the rest of the HPW, popped Zealotry with wings and spammed CS to get 3HPW and then I used DS. Keep doing this until they are dead.

I would recommend you to get the attunement quest for BWL while you're still in Blackrock Caverns.

I got the title when my prot pally was at 64, going through with my wife's 80 hunter and a friend's 80 death knight. I ran around in the eggs, got a ton of whelps after me, my wife dropped volley on them, and I died just as the achievement dinged.

Then our DK friend, who was drunk at the time (in real life, not in character) started wandering around on the respawned eggs, wondering where all these annoying little whelps were still coming from. I add this detail not just because I thought it was funny, but to emphasize that if at first you don't break enough eggs, wait a couple minutes and try again.

This is my advice, and an alternate approach you can do. One with endless attempts and re-spawning eggs.

Shortly after the whelp room, there will be the Rend, and Gyth fight room

You will jump down, starting the event and the ranting in /y of Nefarian.

Soon after the larger gate will open, Run inside quickly!
(if you do miss it, Kill the mobs that run out and wait it will open again)

Inside the gate are 65 eggs. 3 groups (of 5 eggs) you will not need to pull. (unless you go hard or go home)

Kill the 50eggs, or fail, but they will respawn. Allowing you to attempt it once more.

If your hearth is not up, there is a chance you can not be trapped in there.

Wait for another group of drakes or blackhand-humanoids to spawn inside the whelp cage, and soon they gate me arise.

Did you come to Wowhead to find out where is this Rookery instead of old, outdated e-peening? Then read further. I don't care about the rest of the instance for purposes of this guide, just getting the Jenkins title then getting the heck out.

1) GO TO BLACKROCK MOUNTAIN: In order to locate the entrance to Blackrock Spire, you must go to the large zone between Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes called "Blackrock Mountain." The closest flight path to IF is now no longer Thorium Point but Iron Summit, Searing Gorge. The closest flight path to SW is now Flamestar Post, Burning Steppes (help me out, hordies, on where your closest FP's are).

2) FINDING THE INSTANCE PORTAL: So once you enter Blackrock Mountain, you locate the chain bridge and instead of going down the bridge toward the Summoning Stone for Blackrock Depths and Molten Core, you go up the bridge between the legs of a sculpture of a Dark Iron humanoid on the upper wall, until you cannot go any more. It is a little dim, but if you turn to your right along the rim of this narrow ledge you are standing on, you will see it dead ends right before a little balcony. Just jump down onto that balcony, walking, otherwise you just fall a bit and you have to go up the chain bridge again, no biggie.

After you get onto the little balcony, just turn inward and you might see a few mobs. You don't need to worry about any attunements or quests or anything just for the title at this point in the game, just zone in down the stairs and you'll see the whirly gate.

First of all, UBRS and LBRS is in the same instance. Nothing I've read is completely clear on this point, but it's true. The terms just refer to different parts in Blackrock Spire, so don't worry when you zone in and the dungeon just says "Blackrock Spire." You are in the right place. Just to point out the difference, UBRS is going to be up the left ramp at the beginning of the instance and LBRS is going to be somewhere to the right.

3) INSIDE THE INSTANCE, THE FIRST ROOM: You walk in the portal, and go up a short ramp. Have a look around at this point. On the right, there is an orc NPC who gives you a quest if you are big enough, and there are 2 groups of mobs and 2 small rooms on either side, about 56 elite. Just past these rooms of orcs are 2 short ramps leading upward to a long crosswise walkway. One ramp is on the right and one ramp is on the left. There's some other stuff in the first room which you can ignore, notably a huge ramp leading down to more mobs and corridors. Kill whatever you want in this first room, and go up the LEFT ramp, then you will turn left inside the next room.

(Be advised there are a few pats on that crosswise walkway and possibly some coming up the ramp in the middle of the first room, which you may have to kill.)

4) THE NEXT ROOM: Now that you've gone inside, up and left into the next room, you really don't need to worry about getting lost, as there are no more forks in the road. Anyway, this next room has a few orc mob groups contained in small rooms, and wandering smaller dragonkin just patting around. Kill everyone inside, one small room at a time, and when everyone is dead, a set of twin doors will open at the far end of the room. ETA: killing everything is not optional. The doors will not open unless every mob in this room is dead.

5) FIRST BOSS, PYROGUARD EMBERSEER: Enter those double doors, and you go inside a room with maybe four to six orcs casting some kind of ray beam at a fire elemental, Pyroguard Emberseer. They will ignore you until you click a little altar on the left side of the room (supposedly this can be soloed... in my group of two, we both had to click the altar). When the altar is clicked, the orcs will start rushing at you. Kill them down. Wait a few moments and engage the fire elemental (this was slow, no dialog just go to Emberseer and wait until you can target him to kill him), and then the next set of double doors open at the back of the room.

At this point, you're almost home free!

6) INSIDE THE ROOKERY: Once you enter this set of double doors you're now in the Rookery, as a big notice will announce. There will be a few of these dragon mobs (the smaller ones, I forget the name) guarding their eggs, and you must single-target DPS two of the dragon mobs down, when entering the Rookery. You will also see a few of these dragons patting around in the fairly large U-shaped Rookery. Also, you will see these eggs all over the ground in groups of 4-6. When you walk over them, one Whelp will spawn from each egg with a squirting sound. Try to avoid the eggs, if possible, when you are working on the bigger dragons. If you do spawn whelps, just leave them flapping and attacking you, as they do not do much damage. Do not touch whelps with any spells or AOE until you have at least 50 up. That's basically about 10 groups of 5 if you happen to notice them in groups of 5 on the ground.

Once you have 50 up, begin your AOE and in a few seconds you should get the title. (FYI it took about 14 Holy Nova from hubby's 83 priest as I was on my lvl 48 squishy.)

NOTE: From what I understand if you do come short of 50, just stay alive, as the eggs will respawn. However, it is my guess that you need to leave at least one of the dragon mobs alive for eggs to respawn, as I've been through this instance when the Rookery was empty, and killing the dragons would seem the most likely guess as to why no eggs would be left on the ground for the title.

It's probably a bad idea to solo this unless you're a beast at World of Warcraft.

I tried soloing this on my mage and I died after I got cornered by a *!@# load of them.
Then an hour later I had a Holy paladin and a Feral druid helping me and we all died when the druid tried to bring them towards us so we can use our AoE spells in our tiny group.

So then she changed her spec to Restoration, healed as she gathered the whelps, and we successfully used our AoE.
...I'm not sure if the pally did anything though.. do paladins have any AoEs?
As long as you have someone healing then you'll be fine achieving this.

Oh and you'll have to open two doors prior to getting into The Rookery. One room, you have to kill all the mobs in the tiny purple rooms to turn off the orange fumes. I think there's about 8 small rooms and with 5-6 orcs in each.

After you kill ALL the mobs in the room, the door will open, which will lead you a hallway. After you enter the hallway, you'll be in a room with 8-10 orcs that are, I guess, trying to summon or power up the tiny fire elemental.
You can't attack at first until you set off this stone block... I don't even know what it is. But after you set it off they're all attackable and after you attack one, they all come at you.

After you kill them, the fire elemental will grow if you click the stone block thingy. After you kill him, the door to The Rookery will open.
Get rid of ALL the dragons before you run over the eggs. After you kill EVERY dragon in the room, gather up the rookery whelps and then use a ^&*! load of AoEs and healing yourself or other group members.

I just solo'd this as an 85 Frost mage. I had 111k hp. All I did was clear the room of non whelp mobs, then dismissed pet. I used invisibility to go to the back of the room without aggroing. Right-click Invisibility off, put Ice Barrier on, then ran on the eggs from there to the beginning of room, and back to the back. As I got to the back, I summoned my elemental and used its freeze ability on the whelps, then I turned around and AoE'd them dead. Instant Achievement. Didn't even lose any hp. On the run back to the back, you will need to reapply Ice Barrier.

Solo'd as Level 85 BM Hunter, with a 317 gear score. Took four tries but I got it.

Preparing;
1. Take down fire boss in previous room to gain access to the Rookery.
2. Kill all dragon mobs inside the Rookery before starting, except the ones on the upper ledge. You don't have to worry about them.
3. Have Aspect of the Hawk active. (you might be able to do this with Aspect of the Fox, but.. I like the boost in DPS)

Starting;
1. Gather up whelps by walking on eggs, with pet following, on Passive. Make sure whelps chase you around the room
2. Once you feel you got enough whelps, put pet in Defensive to generate aggro, then back in Passive.
3. Tell pet to stay put, and Feign Death to lose aggro and have whelps attack the pet instead.

Finishing;
1. Get up, run back as far as you can, and use Multi-Shot. Whelps will fly after you.
2. Continue using Multi-Shot, being careful not to use up too much Focus. Use Fevor if needed for the quick 50 Focus boost.
3. Begin to dance and frolic once you get the achievement. Brag to your friends. :-)

Some people still don't believe I, Benie, the worst 85 hunter (in their opinions) on my server, could solo a hard to get achievement.
Not sure if this will still work once Patch 4.2 hits and Multi-Shot gets nerfed.

Solo'd as a level 85 fury warrior with 107k HP (they had me down to about 10% health by the time I got the achievement). I just ran around The Rookery breaking open the eggs and kiting the Whelps until I was sure I had fifty of them and then unleashed Whirlwind upon them three times, which did the trick quite nicely.

Elemental Shaman - I had some difficulty at level 85 but persistence payed off.

1. Turn lightning shield off. Lightning Shield can readily kill the whelps. You do not want them dieing while you are trying to round up 50+ Whelps.
2. At the door of the Rookery, you can see two Rage Talon Dragon Spawn, pull and kill them before entering the Rookery. There are two more of them deeper inside the room. Try killing those without hatching any eggs.
3. You only need to stand next to the eggs to hatch them. If you run you will leave some Whelps behind (they fail to aggro). So, walk ... do not run ... to Collecting your 50+ Whelps.
4. Watch your health as you walk around collecting whelps. If it drops noticeably, heal yourself. You do not want to find yourself having to heal while killing.
5. Kill your 50+ Whelps by dropping your Magma Totem. You can increase your damage by casting Chain Lightning and Shock Spells.

I have mentioned 50+ Whelps a number of times, the extra Whelps will give you some margin of error, minimizing having to start all over again.

The reason I had trouble was because I fixated on using Fire Nova because I had recently learned of its importance in my attack rotation. (Thanks Elitist Jerks!) However, the problem I had with this approach was that casting Flame Shock on the Whelps would kill them, and the two guards were only good for one Fire Nova.

Very easy to solo on my 85 Hunter as Survival. I simply rounded up every egg in sight, and after at least 50 were open, I gathered them all up using Deterrence to prevent any damage taken. After I had 50 of the little buggers beating on me, I laid an Explosive Trap, happily Disengaged away and with one Multi Shot, well, there weren't any more whelps, and I was feeling slightly more Jenkins.

Just a little note...I just solo'd this on my lvl 84 Disc Priest. I just rounded up all the eggs (like ya do), bubbled, gathered up the whelps and spammed Holy Nova until I got it. Another helpful note, I tracked this achievement with the Achievement feature and it counted for me how many I killed. Very useful for those "I TOTALLY had 50!1!" moments.

Hey everyone! 4.3 just came out on the PTR, so I went to UBRS to try the chiev.

Failed on first attempt because I didn't round up enough in the time limit.

Failed on second attempt, but I realized that if you do not attack the Whelps when you aggro them, the timer won't trigger, meaning you can round up all the ones you need, then kill em.

Failed on third attempt just because I didn't get enough whelps rounded up to AOE.

Success on fourth attempt.

Just to say i solo'ed this at lvl 76 as a protadin - its doable, especially with the divine shields and shizz -

- walk over the eggs, then aggro what ya need, pop the bubble and go to the corner
- consecration + Holy wrath then spam the hell out of hammer of the righteous.
- Pop avenging wrath when healing and use divine protection + Holy shield and ya should be alright. I dont know if Holy Shield makes a difference but i popped it anyways :)

Edit: forgot to add, took me 3 attempts as i pulled too little the first time, got the "target must be in front of you" + took too long the second time. So the 3rd i made sure my back was to a wall that way there was no targeting errors. Also the tracker helps immensely - 6 secs left and my keyboard was being spammed like no other haha!

You do not have to have the quest to attain this achieve. If you have a computer that could use some more resources to deal with heavy on-line gaming, you are likely to experience some major lag with this one.

Solo'd this as a lvl 85 fire mage today (moderately well geared, ilvl of 360).

Here are my tips that can also be used for anyone (just switch out some of the spells for your more class specific ones)

1. It's easy to avoid activating any of the whelps as a lvl 85, so just skirt around them to kill the three larger dragonkin in the area.
2. go ahead and count how many eggs you're going to need and find the path to activate them, because trust me, it won't be the whole room. (it was around less than half for me)
3. After I had an idea of my path, I used Mana Shield and let the c/d come back up (lasts for a minute, 12-sec c/d).
4. Start running over every single one of the eggs you counted out. At lvl 85, it's easy to /not/ activate them if you're not trying.
5. I popped Mana Shield every time it was up (Priests could use their shield, so forth).
6. Once I had the whelps I needed (that I had counted out earlier to be sure!) I stopped running and tossed down two Blizzards (had to do two since I was fire spec).

Got it first try. Basically, plan ahead and think about the best way to utilize your class for this: what aoe do I have? how can I mitigate damage while I'm rounding them up? will my aoe be quick enough? is there anything in my class list that can help me?

For me, it seemed simple enough, Frost Armor for more damage resist and slowing (not that it worked, i don't think), Mana Shield for more damage absorption, best aoe I had to take'em down fast.

So just be aware of your class and go ahead and look over all your abilities before you do it just in case there's a really useful skill for this that you never use otherwise! =D GL!

Don't get confused by all the comments here; this achievement actually can be solo'd very easily if you are doing it at lvl85, no matter how bad your gear is.
The 15sec countdown doesn't start when you break the first egg; it starts when you kill the first whelp. So just make sure you have enough whelps on you before you start killing them. Easy.

Soloed easily with my Hunter (lvl 85). Ran over all (or most) of the eggs, caught aggro of every single whelp, then feigned death and left pet to get the aggro before moving backwards and releasing a couple of Multi-shots, and then DONE! Got the achievement easy as that! :)

Just solo'd this on my 85 frost mage with garbage gear, nothing difficult. Forgot to dismiss my water elemental the first time, but I reset and got it easily the second time. Put on my ice barrier while I collected all the whelps, popped it again and just let it run out while using blizzard on all the mobs. Super easy nowadays :)

Just did this as a lvl 85 hunter. Two tips.

1. Put pet on passive.
2. At 85, my aggro radius is so small I needed to walk directly over the eggs to get them to pop.

Did this on my 85 Holy Priest. In other words, you no longer need a guide to do anything. Just do it. Hatch as many as you want, then aoe. Thats pretty much it. Just be careful of the lag.

I did this with my 80 DK, eons ago. very simple. Just open the Upper door and there are the whelps. Run around collecting as many as you can, and then nuke away with AoE's and Army. Took me all of 5 seconds once I had a bunch collected and Army up.

I already have this achievement on another alt, but I did try to do it with my level 90 shaman (Enhancement). It doesn't seem possible to do. As far as I know, enhancement shaman have just two AoE's available to them, Magma Totem, and combo of Flameshock and Fire Nova. Magma totem gives diminishing returns the more enemies that are surrounding it. It was only pulsing at less than 300 points per whelp and since whelps have 5000+ hit points, that was taking longer than 15 seconds. The other AoE requires Flameshock to be on at least one target. But since it does initial damage of 7k+ it'd kill the target before I could use Fire Nova...

If anyone has another idea for how a level 90 Enhance Shaman could accomplish this I'm all ears. Otherwise, I'd suggest that if you want to do this on an enhance shaman, try doing it at a lower level.

Edited: I apparently didn't scroll far enough. Obeahshamman's solution shown further down worked very well. I'd add that since the whelps can't possibly kill a level 90, you have time to actually count how many eggs you're opening. Get it to about 60, have 50 on you. I only say this because the more you, the more the diminishing returns and it's hard to get them down to 50%. In fact I don't think I even waited for it to get to 50% cause it was taking too long. I Flame Shocked one of the non-aggro Whelps, then lava lashed, then spammed Fire Nova. I had to do that rotation a couple of times, but it worked out great. Got achievement on first try following these tips.

I finally decided to go and get this title today with my level 90 Hunter, and it is so easy to do at lvl 90 that there is really nothing to it. Once you find your way to the instance and into The Rookery, put your pet in passive mode and just run around the room... walking over the eggs causes them to hatch, then you double-back to get the whelps to start attacking you. Feel free to aggro every whelp in the room if you like, all of their attacks miss anyway so the only danger you might face is lag.

Once I had collected up nearly all of them I just took a couple steps backwards and fired off two Multi-Shot, killing them all and earning myself what has to be the easiest title any level 90 could shoot for. Title is account-wide, available on all your toons.

It is worth noting that this was, I believe, intended for a 10 man group, not the 5 man in a dungeon queue. If you wish to complete the achievement in a group in queue level range, it is easy when done properly. Clear the room of any non-whelps and do not touch any eggs. Have everyone get on a crashed pillar towards the middle of the room, as whelps will struggle to reach you. Have the healer, preferably a druid, cast Healing over Time(HoT) abilities on the tank and have him aggro from the entrance to the pillar. By that time, he should have enough whelps. A warrior and warlock at this point are useful, as a Berserk Warrior and a Warlock can easily do enough DPS to the group, as well as a good druid using Astral Storm/Hurricane during the relevant eclipse. Once the tank reaches the pillar everyone is on, have the healer spam every heal he has and the tank every mass taunt he has. All your DPS' should attack and it becomes relatively easy at that point. The only difficulties my group had was we had a rogue which can't really do much to a group of 50+ whelps.

This achievement will become a Legacy achievement in Warlords Of Draenor (unobtainable), but the title won't go away as a new achievement will be available where you assist leeroy to recover his devout shoulders, in the Warlords Of Draenor version of the dungeon.

Just did this on my Lvl 90 Monk, don't have AOE, so tried to figure out how to get this solo, then I tried Fists of Fury, went around gathered a bunch of welps, went back to door and hit a cpl to get 3 chi and hit Fists, and bam, then just killed the rest.

You can no longer attain Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy! since the Warlords of Draenor Pre-Patch replaced the old Upper Blackrock Spire with the Draenor version.

The new leeroy achievement Leeeeeeeeeeeeeroy...? grants the same title and the Leeroy Jenkins as a follower.

THIS ACHIEVE IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE SINCE 6.0.3 (WOD Pre-patch).

They revamped the dungeon and its level 100+ only. The achieve has been taken out of the game as well and they will apparently do another LJ one.

So don't bother wasting your time trying to get this one like we did.
