Sometimes the flying mobs will pick up NPC's and try to take them away. If they escape or the mob gets killed, the NPC is dropped from the air. Therefore they need parachutes. You can help them, by throwing parachutes at them while they are on the ground.

Any of them can receive it, but there's a non-visible cooldown timer on each NPC that makes them only be able to receive one every so many seconds.

This quest led to one of the most amusing bugs I've ever seen in WoW.

The Gargoyles that pick up the Argent Crusaders can be attacked, and by accident my Whirlwind hit one right as it was swooping towards a Tauren Crusader. Well both mobs bugged, and instead of the Tauren being picked up and dropped, he just hovered a few inches above the ground with a Gargoyle stuck to his back.

What resulted from this unholy union is effectively a Tauren with a jet pack. He zoomed around the battlefield, still in control of his movements, but all the while supported by his Gargoyle strapped to his back Banjo-Kazooie style.

I about died laughing.

A very quick strategy for this quest is to look out for Argent Defenders that are about to be abducted by Sky Terrors. Throw them a parachute for quest credit and they'll survive being carried up and dropped by the Sky Terror and you can then immediately throw them another when they come back down for double quest credit, as they'll have already used the first one that you gave them in parachuting down from the Sky Terror.

You can do this with the scourge costume equipped. Makes it easier if you've already killed your 10 scourge.

Easiest way for 77+ druids to do this is to fly above the battlefield, and hunt out the NPCs. Fly a decent distance above the ground, but in range to throw the parachutes.

Throw parachute, then click flightform just after (don't need to wait for quest credit).

Scout out another NPC, and repeat.

this can glitch in favor of you.. sometimes the npcs kinda float there and u can throw them the parachute over and over again

You can easily tell if the NPC already has a parachute because it shows up as a buff on his character window. Easy quest.
The scourge tend to mob so this is also a great farming ground for Frostweave Cloth.

Multi-box friendly quest. Hotkey the parachute item, have all your alts target the same mob and hit your hotkey. You'll get credit for each alt you have, so if you are two-boxing, you only need to 'equip' 5 guys with parachutes. 5-boxers only need to do 2 guys. Etc.

1. Set the parachute to a hotkey on your action bar.
2. Hang around the part of the field closest to Argent Stand, where the semi-circle of guards are stationed.
3. Keep an eye out for a sky terror swooping down. Click the guard under it asap and throw the parachute.

You have to be quick. If they're too far away from you, don't bother, as you won't have time to get there before the guard is dropped to his death.

I was able to throw all ten to the same npc a couple yards away from the questgiver that wasn't falling he was just standing there. Possibly the easiest quest I've done in a long time

You can just keep throwing the parachutes to the same NPC over and over again.. at least I think I did it 6 or 7 times. Dunno if that was a bug.

just done this quest a second ago I was lucky enough to come across a bug which enabled me to use the parachute on just one NPC. She was floating in the air slightly and had around half health did this quest in a matter of seconds

You can throw the parachutes on Crusaders who have been abducted, but are not yet out of range. I did several times and I felt like a hero.

Ahaha it's bugged on my server.... All the Argent Crusaders are just standing idle not attacking the scourge and they've all got the parachute buff....

The gargoyles fly down... hover over them and just fly off...

I can't complete the quest! ahaha i should probably be &*!@ed but i find it funny >.>

After tossing 3 parachutes and killing 3 scourge. It stopped giving me credit. It wouldnt count any more scourge I killed or parachutes, I dropped the quest and started again....still no credit for anything.

You can make a macro /target Argent Shieldman so you don't have to click the targets

Really annoying. I gave away 9 parachutes, but whatever I did, and however long I waited, I just got a red "You can't do that yet" message when trying to give away the last parachute. Grrr.

I've run this quest many times on my Alliance characters with no problem. Tried it today with my Horde DK and it was bugged. Almost all of the crusaders already had the parachute buff and they were standing around not fighting.

One or two of them would eventually reset so I could throw the parachutes again. There was one toon (in the left corner near the quest giver) that would be picked up by a sky terror and parachute back down. When he landed, the parachute buff was gone, so I could keep throwing to him. The rest were just standing there doing nothing.

I don't know if it's possible for the quest to be bugged for horde only. I just know that I never ran into it on my alliance characters. Just this time on my horde dk. Maybe it's coincidence, but it seems odd.

Still bugged as of Patch 6.2. Argent mobs stand around idle, stuck under the parachute buff.

They don't engage the scourge and the scourge ignores them, so they don't easily die and it takes forever for them to reset so they can be killed off by the gargoyles.

Reported on the bug forum.

This is seriously creating a huge bottleneck in this quest hub.

Took forever to do this quest because the crusaders took too long for the buff to reset. I gave up the first day but when I came back to it the next day it was just as bad. This has been reported numerous times don't know why they haven't fixed it yet.

If you aggro the mobs and run them near a crusader then fly out of aggro range they sometimes aggro onto the crusader which can make them respawn without the parachute buff if they die

must be still bugged I tried giving them the parachutes all I got was a message saying Can't do that yet... so i just abandoned the quest and moved on.

You'll save yourself some pain if you check to see if they already have the parachute buff. You need to find one that either just parachuted safely or resurrected. The ones closest to the quest giver aren't being attacked or killed.

Found a solution to this perma-bugged quest today. Just say f**k it, I don't need this XP.

Never seemed to be a problem during WotLK. Even later when took longer cause always seemed 2/3 of the soldiers wouldn't take the parachutes. Tonight watched multiple gargoyles swoop down to grab a soldier then fly back up and ignore him. Which means he didn't want your parachute. Seems like you need to find the 2 or 3 guys who need 'chutes and wait patiently while they get taken up and you can re-fit them.

There are better uses of your time.

Where's the quest giver there is a ladder. The ones that need parachutes are the ones that are fighting the gargoyles, down that stairway. Some have (you'll see the parachute buff). Put those who don't have.

as others seem to report. this quest is bugged.

also super annoying.

i got some of it to work two guys got their chutes........... but then when i tried to do it some others it would not let me said "was not ready yet"

on top of that . you get ambushed by a ton of the mobs and its super annoying

so i just said f-k it . and abandoned the quest.

i can see why some people can get so frustrated with blizz at times
some of these quests need rework and are bugged.

but considering it WOTLK stuff i imagine its not on a high priority to fix of late as few people likely actually do it anymore lol

Commander Falstaav at The Argent Stand has asked you to equip 10 Argent Crusaders or Argent Shieldmen out in the courtyard with parachutes.

Those sky terrors are destroying my men and women! Dying from falling is a horrible way to go.
