Gruul's Lair High King Maulgar Gruul the Dragonkiller Council Members Kiggler the Crazed (Shaman) Blindeye the Seer (Priest) Olm the Summoner (Warlock) Krosh Firehand (Mage) High King Maulgar is the lord of the ogre council in Gruul's Lair. He is accompanied by the 4 other members of the ogre council, protecting him. Abilities Melee: Single target damage is around 4000 on plate, up to 12000 crushing. (Spell #39144): Hits all targets in a cone in front of Maulgar, deals 5000 to 12000 damage on plate. (Spell #33238): Hits all nearby targets. Deals 7000 damage on plate. Slows Maulgar by 50%. (Spell #33230): Knocks the target back and deals 6000 to 11000 damage on plate. (Spell #26561): Charges a random player, knocking the player back and dealing some damage. Only cast when Maulgar's health is below 50%. (Spell #16508): Incapacitates the main tank for 8 seconds, and fears all other players within 8 yards for 8 seconds. Only cast when Maulgar's health is below 50%. (Spell #33232): Triggered once Maulgar reaches 50% health. Actually decreases his damage significantly (because he drops his weapon) but increases his attack speed. Strategy Maulgar comes with 4 adds (see Council Members box on the right). The typical kill order is Priest, Warlock, Mage, Shaman, and finally Maulgar. Due to many of the ogres having anti-melee damage, ranged DPS is more of an asset than melee DPS for this specific fight. The pull is the most critical stage of the fight. Use (Spell #34477) to help make this step go smoothly. Maulgar's whirlwind is avoidable by melee since it is on a cooldown. Maulgar deals a substantial amount of melee damage, so his tank will require good tanking gear as well as multiple dedicated healers. (Spell #25203) and (Spell #25264) seem to reduce Maulgar's damage output significantly, so keep these debuffs on him at all times. Once the other ogres are dead, there should be two tanks on Maulgar at all times. This will help keep him under control through the charges and fears. Note that he is tauntable!
