The main strategy here is to kill all the adds, even when Dr. Terrible has already appeared. You may try to burst damage him down, but it didn't work for me. The adds made too much damage.

So generally you just keep switching between the AE knockback attack (2) and AE stun (Stomp, 3). The best way is to keep their cooldown so that when the one is half ready the other skill can be used. Also note that you might want to use Stomp as the first attack as it makes a lot of damage. Additionally, you may want to use 1 or 2 seconds until there are more mobs close enough to get affected by Stomp.
Rotate the two skills until Dr. Terrible shows which is the point when there are no more waves. By now you are probably at around 50% HP but you should be fine. Just keep rotating and ignore Dr. Terrible until all the other mobs are killed.

I don't know if the mobs get fall damage from the AE knockback though I thought I saw some of them die fairly back in the room.

What can go wrong (if you're unlucky) is when

you get stunned by Dr. Terrible while there are still too many mobs around => you get too much damage
the timing is a bit off and the adds give you too much damage
Dr. Terrible heals himself and you have cooldown on both the knockback and stun skills (or he is out of range)

Other than that it should be quite doable.

I cannot for the life of me complete this. After 4 consecutive failures and subsequent deaths, I just gave up. This does start a big quest chain, though, so I may come back to it later.

Just be warned that this thing is pretty tough.

It turns out you can get credit for killing Dr. Terrible even if you lose Nergeld before the end of the fight. After the good doctor got a heal off, the giant just oouldn't outlast the damage, and I had to finish the rest of the battle by myself. In some respects my protection paladin was better equipped to withstand the assault than Nergeld was, though I wouldn't have wanted to do the entire fight that way. In any case, if you lose Nergeld and you've got Dr. Terrible's health down some, keep fighting. Just make sure you interrupt his heals!

I finaly got this one after I started making sure the bot was autoattacking, while also taking some of those mobs that came back to me after knockback and hitting them down with the 1 option.

Try and hit those with the most health individually, then hit with aoe and knockback. WOW, this was hard, but also awesome when you finaly get it.

OK, here's how I did it fairly easily:

Do as focus a enemy down spamming (1) until he's dead or until your AoE knock back is active
Use the AoE knock back whenever it's up

Repeat #3 until he's killed.

What a horrible quest!

I finallly did it after about 4 shots,

I spammed 1 and then did the aoe knock back every time it was up.

Then focus fired the doc.

Use the two AOE moves until ALL the adds are killed. THEN use the punching move to beat the crap out of the Doctor. Memorize how much energy it takes for the 80 moves. 50 for shout 70 for stomp.

This seemed pretty easy. I think you guys over stretched how difficult it was. Just attack the little mobs a little, and keep pushing two to throw them back. you might get a few killed before he arrives, just try to preserve your health. And when the Dr. shows you, you might try to grapple him to get him closer sooner before the rest of the mobs. Key is,y ou want him next to you, and the rest of the mobs pushed back so you can dps just him. When u beat on him for a while, he'll heal, just keep smashing 1. When the little guys get close again, push 2. Done! Didn't even worry about stun or anything. Just 1 and 2 did the trick.

When I jumped into Nergeld he wouldn't move - seemed to be bugged in some way, because I could turn from side to side but could not go forwards, backwards or strafe. When the waves of mobs appeared they immediately despawned so I couldn't complete the quest.
Has anyone else seen anything like this?

This is indeed a bug and has been reported through beta and live, though his immobility is a planned quest mechanic (intended). I encountered this problem and could not get the quest to work though I lingered around killing mobs and retrying every 10-15 minutes. Finally I left and came back the next day and it worked fine. I have no idea why this bug is here or what causes it but doing it at a later time seems to work out the issue.

The issue with him not being able to move is supposed to be like that. Check the buff. Also i found it very useful to use roar and the footsmash ability. Fend the adds off and keep using the smash then once the dr comes in you can down him with a few punches. Pretty easy but kind of tricky the first time.

aoe until adds are down
after that- only focus on interupting his heal-
if he is at melee interupt heal with 2 or 3
if he is at range interupt heal with 4

when he is on his own he cannot even hit you much- just foucs on interupting the heal and your fine.

not interupting his heal immediatly also buys you CD time. its a 2.5 or 3 sec cast- so clip him at about 1.5/2 secs.

This is the easiest of these quests i have ever done.

Keep using the stun and AOE on the adds until the Doc arrvies.
Let the doc get close...TARGET him, do another knockback when all mobs are back on you.

use the chain-pull to pull the doc towards you while he is mid-air...

Use the first petbar key on Mr.Doc...just spam it....hits him really hard...
When mobs get close,

This quest was "bugged" for me. I could not complete it.

Turns out I was actually getting out of him according to other people even though it showed me as still inside the guy on my screen. The mobs would spawn, run to me, and then despawn or be invalid targets.

Disabling all addons allowed me to complete this quest. So if you're having despawning or invalid target issues, disable your addons.

This quest seems a bit bugged, but in a good way.
When i tried this on my 80 blood death knight i had no idea what i was doing, just spamming punch on stuff until Dr. T came, then focused on him. When the giant died Dr. T was still there so i started to attack him as normal till i realised he hurt quite a bit, luckily the giant spawned and i jumped back on and punched Dr. T to finish the quest.

I did this as a L80 shadow priest - a couple of kinda interesting things.

It took me three times to get through the quest. What worked was finally getting coordinated enough to chain and punch the Doc (as suggested above, thanks) and that took practice - but when the abomination I was riding died early, I had to run, and making sure my cooldown for Divine Hymn was not expired made this process easy provided I'd killed most of the adds, which I had. I'd cast and run around the corner to the right, out of the room in the direction of the apprentice's room. First time no mobs came. Second time two almost dead mobs came after I'd had time to heal up, and they were easily disposed of. Even though Divine Hymn has a 5 min cooldown, it was better to wait than to die because the mobs chased you, IMHO. Cheaper, anyway, and probably take 5 min to run back and in through the castle.

The point is that when these fights where I had to run away were done there were several mobs to loot in the fight room, and when I killed the doc there were no mobs to loot. There were two greens on the mobs I looted including a nice dagger.

This is a great place to use Divine Hymn - I felt like a Rogue who had vanished - the mobs stopped attacking and I could run away!

I had to DISABLE both "Quest Helper" and "Bartender"

after they were disabled this quest worked like a charm, i got it in one try but it is tough...

Quite easy for a prot warrior, even if Nergeld dies you will be still able to kill Dr. Terrible. He Was 40k+ when my Nergeld collapsed and i took him down loosing less then half of my hitpoints (~25k atm). Dont forget to use shield bash when hes goint to heal.

lol funny thing happened while i was doing this quest...

a member of the opposite faction (wont say which one) was attacking him already... they cleared the adds and were on to Dr Terrible... he was down to about 40% health. I hit him a few times and then the other guy must have run out of HP cause he died... at which point Dr Terrible turned to me and became my target (as in went from grey to red). I killed him easy (BM hunter) using my pet to tank and got the quest completed without ever having to mount the big fella.

So if you find yourself waiting for someone else to complete this quest then just put a DOT or a few hits on the boss in the hopes that the other person will die and you can inherit the mobb.

I suggest, just killing all the mobs you can untill Dr. Terrible comes, and then focus on him, even if you dont manage to kill him while in Nergald, you should be able to finish him with your abilities, i got him down to 8k hp, then I lost Nergald, but I did kill Dr. Terrible, but died.

But dying doesn't matter, so long you you can get the quest done.

this quest is too easy, i dont know why people are having such a hard time with it...just use spells 2 and 3 thats it...i finished with over 15k health on my first try...just knock back and the stomp...you all are n00bs if you cant get this done on the first attempt

Just for the record, here's how I did it - the first time, I failed, and the second time, I got stunned two or three times by the Doc. (Didn't happen at all the first time around.)

Wait for a wave of mobs to gather around you. When they are in range, use Stomp (3), then Roar (2). Repeat until Dr. Terrible shows up.

When he does, use Chained Grip (4) to pull him toward you and start spamming Punch (1). When the other mobs get too close, use Roar (2) again, and follow with (4), (1).

I saved (3) - the knockback - for in case Dr. Terrible started to cast Heal, but ended up only using it when I got stunned and needed some breathing room.

This quest was harsh bugged for me.

All the mobs would crawl out of the ground then disappear, then the Doctor and his adds show up, run up to me and fade away. Very disappointed.

Heres how i did it.

1) WAIT for pack to get to you. Stomp (3), then knockback(2). If a rondom mobs gets to you before the rest, feel free to pound him (1)

2) repeat till boss comes.
3) Pull in boss, spam (1)
4) AE knockback (2) once all get there.
5) Repeat

I finished with 20k health.

Anodora's advice worked just fine for me. Kept alternating between 2 and 3 until all the mobs except one were gone, then focused on the good doctor and gave him a beatdown. Ended up with about 10K health.

1.) To find Nergeld just turn around and walk to the end of the room the apprentice is, opposite the stairs is the halls of horror
2.) When the fighting begins, spam stuns and knockbacks and punch (1) on the dogs and they seem to do more damage
3.) When Dr.Terrible spawns, bugger all and just spam 1 on him, the instant he dies, all mobs despawn

Just AoE. Ignore the Punch button (number 1). Even when the Doc is up. Just AoE him down. Use the Chain (number 4) to interupt his heals.

watch out. someone in the room can tag the doctor. I had to do this quest 2 times because some !@#$%^& tagged the doctor, I wound up killing him and didn't get the credit.

with that being said, it wasn't hard at all. I was able to repeat it without a problem.

I'm getting a bug with this quest where the waves of adds show up and then disappear and I can't target them. When the doctor shows up, he and his adds run up and I can't target them. Then they disappear and I just stand there. Anyone know what's causing this? I know if I put in a ticket, blizz will just say to reset my interface and delete all my add ons.

Don't waste your time on the adds there are to much.

Concentrate on the adds first and when the docter spawns focus everything you have on him but watch out that you don't attract to many adds if so use the pushback and keep hitting the dokter

He will attempt to heal himself @ 20% hp. When he does that use 4 to grip him to you , stomp + 1 and he should be down. If you keep using 2&3 constantly you shouldn't have any problem with adds. Had 45% hp left when he died.

With respect to all the above posts I have found a way to do this that is probably a little different. I tried all the suggestions and died several times. Did every combination of button pressing yet still died. On my last attempt I tried to make the fight last as long as possible with maybe the chance of taking the Doctor down without Nergeld.

Nergeld died and I quickly used a Runic Healing Pot. My health went up slightly and suddenly Nergeld rezzed so I jumped on for another go at 100% health. This time only one wave and the Doctor went down with Nergeld still at about 80%. I didnt die but I went down to about 20% before the respawn. The secret is to try to drag the fight out as long as possible if you are reduced to direct combat.

Thank goodness for fast respawns. By the way, I am retired and not at the peak of fitness and my reactions are not as good as the majority of players but if I can do it then so can you and I didnt disable any of my addons. Good luck to you all.

OK, So I'm a noob.

After reading all the strats and failing at them 6 times I finally did it easily. Here's the trick:

1. Its all about ENERGY. Don't spam 3 and 2.
2. Wait till the adds come to you - all of then STOMP (3) once then wait until ROAR (2) is lit then ROAR THEM
3. Continue until The Doctor Shows

Once the Doc Shows

-Chain him (4)
-Punch the crap outta him (1)
-Launch Adds away with (2) while liberally Chaining him (4) and Punching him (1).

Once he's dead, they all die.

i tried this quest once using the strategy listed, and died. quest rewards are not worth time invested. whoever said this is the easiest vehicle quest is smoking something. Most of the vehicle quests I've done were a breeze. this one, I'm near death before dr. terrible spawned.

This isn't such a tough one if you know how to do it.

The first key is patience. While it may seem like dumb advice to let mobs attack you by the twos while you have knockback ready, it's worth it. Wait for a good amount of mobs (such as, all the mobs currently in the room) to approach you. Then, STUN them, spam the melee button until they start attacking again, and knockback. Repeat.

NEVER stop attacking. When you aren't using a special ability, spam your melee button to do extra damage.

This way, by the time the Dr. comes in the room, most of the mobs will be dead or dying. You can then focus on killing the Doc, once all but one or so of the mobs are gone.

EDIT: It's actually not that hard of a quest, Dave. You just gotta learn to spam the melee and use the abilities on time. It's not the EASIEST vehicle quest there is, but it's possible. I wiped it twice, came back a third time and learned to wait for mobs to gather, stomp, wait, then knockback. That's all there is to it.

And if you don't do this quest, you can't do the followups which lead to the Battle at Valhalas, which is worth it as it is one of the prominent quest chains in Northrend.

The first tactic is good...only i was unlucky and a ^&*!ing horde idiot came and watched all the event, When the doctor spawned he tagged him and then stayed still..i used the aoe and aggroed him and only when he was 50% did i notice he was gray xD i stood still till the druid aggroed, got killed but nergeld died too. I finished the boss off. Then as i was still ^&*!ed off at the druid i did the same thing to him. only beying a Nelf i tagged boss + shadowmeld. Event despawned and nergeld fell to peaces. Teaches him right!

If your controlled pet dies at the end, just try to stay alive untill he respawns. (only takes a minute or so). If you remount him in mid fight everything will reset and you can start all over without dying.

Just did this on my feral druid. failed twice then came here and read comment. so here's what I did.

Blow cooldowns every chance there is when all the mobs are close.

I got unlucky and Terrible managed to get a heal off, but after the giant died I popped bear form and took out the last 10k health he had IIRC.

This actually bugged the first time I did it. Dr. Terrible came in and disappeared immediately, like a deaggro. If it happens just do it again. I almost died the second time, but it worked out fine. Once you get his adds off you just chain pull and punch him to death. Stomp on the heals.

Don't worry if you die as the golem, you can still kill Dr Terrible. In fact, he's quite easy, with only 50k hitpoints. I made a mistake and pulled the doctor behind me so I couldn't deal with him, and ended up dpsing him down from 40k without the golem. Still pretty easy.

The trick is:

* Focus on one add, hitting it with <1> till it have around 3k hp
* Focus on another add, hitting it with <1> till it have around 3k hp
* Keep them away with <2> (doing around 3k hp damage), killing the one
* Select an add with full hp and use <4> on it.
* Repeat till everyone is dead except Dr Terrible

* Kill all the adds before focus on Dr Terrible

Avoid Dr Terrible to heal self (using <2> or <3>)

There is only so much an addon can do, like mess up your user interface or crash your client. It cannot make mobs despawn.

Unless the mod is causing problems with the vehicle.

I am awful with vehicle quests and this was no exception. By the time the Doc came I had about 20% HP and half a dozen of those drooling dog-monsters on me. The monster went down and I was surrounded.

Now, thankfully I'm a BM Hunter. My Bear appeared, thunderstomped to get their attention. The regular mobs were actually fairly easy to take down and with Mend Pet healing 5k over time it was easy to keep my pet alive. The Doc was actually not that hard to take down, the trick is that he has a Heal spell that he can cast about three or four times and every time he gets it off he'll be near full health again.

So if you DO lose your mosnter don't give up hope. Just be prepared to interrupt his healing spells or drain his mana somehow - unless you want to take his health down three times in a row!

Important warning here.
The first time I tried the quest, just after engaging Terrible my ability bar went black. I couldn't do anything anymore and died. Also, sometimes when you spam click the Roar and Stomp, they do nothing at all and you waste a cooldown, so I would advise to wait about half a second after the cooldown has finished. After a while I figured out that Terrible had somehow ended up behind me, after which it was cake.

When I changed my view from first person view to birdseye, I was able to keep Terrible in front of me and finished with 38691 hp left.

just did the first strategy it worked quite well. when the adds get close just stomp them, then as soon as roar is up use it. after this there should be about 1/2 of the adds left and they should be at 1/2 HP. just keep using the 2 combos and if there is only one of the hounds left u can just go ahead and start punching the Doctor

I noticed one issue with bugs, in that I was trying to "help" another hunter do the quest and started attacking the mobs from far back. When the elite spawned, I got attacked and used FD. When that happened, combat dropped and he had to restart the event.

I felt like an idiot. Don't try to "help" people, and if you pull aggro, die.

People usually forget in those quests that there also is auto attack. With this you'll do much more damage.
I died 3 times because i used only abilities without auto attack.

ATTN MAGES.......I've yet to kill the Dr. using either of the 2 strategies. The first one (highest rated) got me killed twice. The second has yet to result in success however i've gotten closer. Mages, here is something i did learn. Be prepared for failure and live by having your frost armor on. As soon as the vehicle is destroyed start to run for the door, as soon as you are in front of what's after you, cast frost nova. As soon as frost nova is down, use blink to get ahead and then hit invisibility. I made it out alive and undamaged SEVERAL times. Believe me, it's worth it. The 2 deaths I encountered the first 2 tries turned all my armor blood red and cost me 68g in repairs! Though your nerves will be shot, there's no reason to drain your gold. Good luck.

When I lost on the giant, it dismounted me with the good doctor and two cats alive.

I found out, you can kill him normal. It takes the giant to spawn them, staying on the giant til the doctor arrives, but once he's there, he's vulnerable to everything (silence, stun), hits superweak. His poison effect will tick a little hard but it's nothing too hard.

If you get back on the giant when the giant spawns again, the mob will despawn.

@50 or 33% health, he'll heal, so have your stuns/silences saved for that if need be.

It really is all about energy management... just be smart the quest is annoying but what u gonna do

Just an FYI in the unlikely event that there is someone else in the area when you start the quest. The Doc needs to attack you before anyone else for you to get the credit. There was an AFK pally in the the room and the first two times I downed the Doc, no credit simply because he hit the pally before I chained him.

I hopped on Nergeld and using the overcomplicated strategy at the top..i failed..then i hopped me off and i actually killed the Dr. by myself...but im also a lvevl 80 geared pally :D so it is possible

I found that hitting roar and stomp on the adds until the Dr shows up keeps them at bay. Once the Dr shows up I just kept punching him to death while I would stomp and roar the adds everytime they cooled down. Worked out well and left me at 30% health by the time the Dr died.

Just spam 3 and 2 and when Dr terrible comes just spam him with 1. I had 20k hp when i was done :P

I lost Nergeld with just Dr T and two of the hounds left and managed to take them down with normal combat ( I notice that Steelsage did the same thing a few days ago too).

If your a leatherworker dont forget that you can harvest any cats that you killed, I was just about to leave when I noticed the skinning icon was working over one of their bodies.

I did it like on of the other commenters. Held off on any punches until the Doc showed up. Just kept stomping and yelling when the mobs would get on me. When Doc gets there, punch him and make sure to interrupt his heal.

When I got dismounted, my normal skill bars didn't come back.
Instead I still had Nergeld's skill bar which didn't work,
I had to just sit there and die

Worst part about this quest (if it's not bugged for one) is that someone else can tag the mob to try and get credit.

A warlock I had just buffed earlier did so and I let them die. The mob turned red to me, then grey... So I killed it and leapt off. Luckily the graveyard must have been far enough away for the warlock not to get credit, so I simply rinsed and repeated before they came back to res.

The Underhalls, Hall of Horrors in the Underhalls ... where the Vahalas vargul are located in .... Vahalas. It may seem like a cave but if your definition of cave is ... rock and stuff. Then this "cave" is a bit more elaborate. And I wouldn't call it a "cave". Anyhoo. Being a bit more specific never hurts, right. :)

I'm not sure if it's the changes they made to vehicle combat, but on my previous characters I don't recall struggling...

I'm on my 79 DK, and I've died three times straight now. One thing I've noticed, is that my #2 Roar, is not doing its knockback. The guy is at like, 15% or less by the time the Doc arrives because the knockback is either missing or failing or bugged, I'm not sure.

3 deaths is enough, 600k to 80, this is a time waster if the changes to vehicle combat are causing this. Come back when geared if so imo.

Probably failed this about 20-25 times now. Strange thing is, I've done it on three plate wearers before and everytime I ended up having to finish him on foot. It's not working as a clothie. Something in the group is stunning or dazing me and I end up dead within a second or two of coming out of the vehicle. Definitely not worth doing.

Much to my amazement, I actually did this one with ease. The second time.

The first time, as soon as I mounted up, I was surrounded by mobs. I had no time to figure out the controls and by the time the Doc showed up, the ugly guy was dead and, within a second, so was I.

I came here, read the above, and went back a few days later.

Here's my advice: don't do it if other are also in the area. What I think happened is someone else had just failed the quest or started and stopped before fail/complete.

Because when I tried last night, there was no one else around and for a good 5-10 seconds after I mounted, there were no mobs. When they did come, it was maybe 5 at a time. I hit stomp then yell when they stood up. When they got back, I punched one until stomp was off CD then stomped and yelled again. Rinse, repeat. There are several waves. There's the geist things (they don't stand upright) and then the dog things. It wasn't long at all before the doc arrived, I selected him, and punched him while stomping whenever the CD was gone. It was over so quick, I thought at first I had failed. I didn't even have a chance to glance at the leftover health of Nergeld.

I almost wish I could do it again 'cause that yell man, whee! They were flying across the room!

I've got the same problem as CalculatorSWC. The AoE isn't pushing back most of the mobs, they're too close or something. So I'm at too low on health when the good doctor arrives. I did this quest a few days on another character and had no problem.

What I did was just abuse the AoE attacks (never using the single target one at all) to get rid of the mobs and then finished the Dr. off after he was the only one left. He killed Nergeld just before I finished him off so I had to briefly fight Dr. Terrible on my own, but that really wasn't very hard. Even better since I'm a DK and I interrupted his heals =D

I tried it a few different ways as described by other posters. The best method was:

Spam #1 on the individual mobs, using the #2 knockback when ever it's available. Repeat until Dr Terrible arrives
When Dr Terrible spawns immediately target him and use #4 to pull him to you, then spam #1 on him until #2 is available. When you knock terrible back, hit #4 to pull him and then continue to spam #1. Repeat. I had a good 20%+ hp left with this method.

I'm having a similar problem with the AOE. I attempted it 3 times, and the Roar knockback effect is simply not working. My Nergeld gets rushed, and dies very quickly. On my 3rd attempt I very nearly killed all the mobs and the Dr. on my own after exiting Nergeld, but to no avail.

On my 4th attempt I did it - here's my strategy: I spammed the Punch button, and single-targeted the mobs down as they spawned. The power cost of the Punch is just low enough that your total energy will slowly increase, and you will eventually have enough to Stomp. Once you do, just go back to single-target Punching. In this manner, enough of them will be dead that by the time Dr. Terrible spawns, you should be able to finish him off yourself once your Nergeld dies.

Very difficult quest to complete until bugfixed.

The machine is pretty noob, i got into it and stomped a couple times, then i just hopped out and pwned dr terrible real quick... easy enough.

I kept spamming 1 and used knockback(2) whenever I could. When Dr.Terrible appeared I chained(4) him towards me and kept spamming 1, also kept using knockback when possible(chain Terrible again) and sometimes 3. It worked.

These strategies I tried over and over again to no avail. Eventually I just thought to try a different approach and if you are like me and if even at level 80 you could not complete this quest follow this advice. Target single mobs from the waves that attack and spam punch them. When you are surrounded, use roar to give your walking flesh giant some breathing room. If you are too swarmed, use stomp. Continue to spam punch focused targets while going through this cycle. Rinse, cycle, and repeat till the good ol' doc shows his undead face. Instantly target him and chain the sob over to you. Do not target other mobs. Spam punch him and continue to use roar to clear the room. The good doctor will still fly across the room with the other baddies so chain him back to you and continue to pummel the sucker with your spam punches. Mmmm spam...This left me with actually about 15-20% health. When you get rid of Dr. Terrible, the mobs will disappear, which is why I have no idea why anyone would tell you to only focus on the mobs. Once you have slain the doctor make sure you picked up the other quest from inside the Underhall from the Vykrul on the second floor. For the Horde!

Since patch 3.3.3 the giant you control seems to be doing more damage then before. My 7th character doing the quest and I never went under 80% HP the entire fight. Dr. Terrible dropped FAST. I can recall in the past barely having any HP left at the end of the fight.

Did as Bumba suggested, but added a little flair, not losing any health either.
punch(1) all the adds down, if too many use roar(2), continue punch (1)
when Dr. appears, should only have 1 or 2 adds, Chain him in and start punching away at him
the Dr. will use his AOE attack, use roar -> chain back before the Dr. uses spell attack and continue punching
very easy, only lost the 1/4 health doing this way.

would like to say. they nerfed this quest into the ground. its very easy now.

you get like a few packs of mobs, that once they are all together in front of you, your punch hits all of them. they die quickly.

also when dr terrible came out, he spawns with 2 dogs, all i did was chain terrible to me then just punched him till he died.

very very easy now.

Stomp and stun when they are all close, keep doing it and you will have most if not all of the mobs, minus the hounds, dead by the time the Doc shows up. When he does you need to target him and use the chain to draw him close then stomp, stun and punch him to Death, when he dies they all die or disappear.

Work on the fighters and dogs until he shows. Use the chain to pull him close. Use the punch, it works. HeHe, I only died once then read the posts.

Okay, I've tried this about 25 times now, and I've died each time. My armor has all gone to red.

I've tried the strategy recommended here, and those on Wowhead and Thottbot as well.

I've not yet been able to kill hardly any of the mobs using either Stomp or Punch. The Roar knockback doesn't seem to work at all.

The Doctor has only shown up about three or four times out of the 25 attempts. Usually I am dead before he gets there.

I've only been able to Chain pull him (#4) twice, but I've never even gotten his health down.

Either this quest is bugged or I am stupid (or both...).

I got Nergeld to work once, and was roaring and stomping and all; the doctor showed up, and I didn't make it. So I came back and rezzed. Now when I mount up, the adds appear for a few moments and then fade away before they attack. If I wait for them to appear and fade a few times, the Doc shows up -- but I "cannot attack that target", either directly with Punch or indirectly with Roar or Stomp. He fades away, and then nobody else ever shows up.

I've tried dismounting and remounting Nergeld, and finally even abandoned the quest (which destroys the book, so you have to go back and kill Osterkilgr again to get another one). On a fresh taking of the quest, the same thing keeps happening.

Okay, relogging seems to have done it; don't know whether disabling addons was necessary, but I suspect it wasn't, since all I run is Auctioneer and TomTom. After my second failure (okay, I stink at vehicle quests), I reenabled addons, and it was fine for my third attempt. Hope this helps somebody else!

Fun Fact: The Grimmr Hounds are skinnable, and tend to persist after the combat. And since it took me a large number of tries to complete this quest (really not sure why), I managed to gain a lot of leather.

And thank heavens for Vanish.

stomp and shout seems to work just fine. Didn't throw a single punch. Remember to target doc when he shows and use chains to pull him in when he tries to heal. May need a punch then if stomp or shout not up

This quest starts from the book you get when you kill Doc Terrible's apprentice, Osterkilgr, for the quest Deep in the Bowels of The Underhalls. In the lowest level of the Underhalls (same level you kill Osterkilgr) you can find Nerglend the Flesh Golem. After accepting the quest, you will be able to mount him and "ride" him into the battle against Doctor Terrible and his minions. Like many of the Northrend quests, upon assuming control of Nergeld, your skillbar UI will be swapped out with his own custom set of skills.

What you've got:

1. Punch (basic melee attack, moderate dmg)
2. Roar (AoE knockback)
3. Stomp (AoE physical attack, good dmg)
4. Chains (pulls enemy to you)

When you assume control of Nergeld you won't be able to move. This is NOT a bug. Read the buff, he's not supposed to move. Few seconds will pass and a bunch of mobs will spawn behind you and start attacking waves. After you've downed enough of them, Terrible will show himself. He's an 80 elite with a self heal, but otherwise he's a pushover.

What you do:

1. Rotate between Roar(2) and Stomp(3) to keep the waves of non-elites at bay. The timing can be tricky at first, but nothing special.
2. Soon as the Doc shows up, hit him with Chains(4) to pull him in close and pummel him with a couple punches.
3. Stomp(3). Scream(2). Chains(4) on Doc to bring him back in ahead of his goons. Pummel with a couple punches.
4. Repeat step 3 until he's dead. Won't take long. If you see him casting his heal, can always interrupt with Chains if ya feel its needed.

Nergeld actually died right before I killed the Doc and I finished him off myself. He's nothing special as I was only lvl 78 and even with a few of the lesser mobs still whacking me I still dropped him with only a couple swings of my axe. As a side note, however, I did notice that sometimes when using Roar for the knockback, some enemies (as well as the Doc) seemed to get "stuck" to the side of me and were unaffected. Probably why he finished off Nergeld just before I was able to finish him.

Sadly, you do need to do this chain to completed the 140 quests achievement, otherwise unless there is a hidden yellow I've missed, you end up seven short as dailies(blue) do not count.

This is another awful set play, many of which infest the WotLK expansion for Warcraft.

Basically, if you have yellow latency as your normal server performance, then dump this quest. Nergeld will not be able to damage the mobs fast enough to survive and you will just end up with an armour repair bill greater than the rewards each time you die.

Not been able to test if you do this as a group to overcome the latency issue, but likely possible as when Nergeld dies, you still have the same mob now tearing down on you.

Dumping this quest doesn't stop you having access to Bone Witch buffs or prohibit you from doing the 140 quests in Ice Crown achievment.
