This is one of the few early quests that provides a weapon useful for tanking. Not only is the amount of Stamina much higher than the average early quest reward in WotLK, but there is also dodge on this, making it a must-have for any aspiring tank.

Avoidance stats are hard enough to come by early on (there is a spectacular dearth of tanking gear to begin with) so every bit helps.

He's apparently one resilient little dude. I got sick of waiting, left him for dead and finished exploring the caverns. As I was exiting, I saw him killing the last murloc at the cavern entrance. I escorted him the rest of the way to the water and completed it rather unintentionally. I was wearing https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=34620, if that makes any difference.

To people leveling with flying mounts now since 3.2, when he says "This is far enough, I can make it on my own from here." Don't instantly mount up. You don't get quest credit until about 5 seconds later, had you mounted up and flown off the quest will fail and you will have to spend another 10 minutes escorting him again.

Worst. escort. ever!

Slow running escort. - Check
The fact that it is an escort. - Check
Murlocs. - Check
Stand still for ~5 seconds after every mob engaged (even with full mana/health). - Check
Murlocs. - Check

Note to Blizzard: Make escorts run ~5% slower then you, they don't have to WALK (They're running away from a cave full of enemies, and they're going slower then a turtle). People these times don't have downtime while levelling, people kill mobs in about 5-10 seconds. There's no need to regen health/mana after every single mob.

Incredibly slow quest.
Seems he takes 15 seconds to just "rest" everytime he resets when you kill a mob.
He also walks slow the whole way through.
