Just fly around and when you see an egg, fly to it and click scavenge. You can use swoop to get there faster to beat any patrolling matriarchs or competing players. I didn't have any problems avoiding the patrolling birds. When I was done, I intentionally aggro'd a matriarch to try out Escape, then flew back to my player. It brought the matriarch and when I right-clicked the pet buff, my bird disappeared and the matriarch aggro'd me. It was like a normal mob and dropped grey stuff.

When facing the lift with your back to the camp, the Roost is to your right at 76.8, 67.6.

Just to clarify, it's not "North" it's "East" , basically don't over complicate it. When you turn into the bird it's over the cliff along the edges, you'll see just go over the cliff and look down.

I have found out that your falcon has quite a large range. After i finished the quest, i went sightseeing so i can get a slight preview of what the area would be like until i get high enough to buy the cold weather flying skill.

If your hawk dies for whatever reason, that's fine. Just release it again, as many times as you need to.

P.S. Is anyone else disappointed that you don't get to keep the Hawk as a pet?

Don't take the lift down, the roost is at the top, close to lift area.

The Shoveltusk roam close to where you will be channeling, so be on the lookout for Stags that can agro to you while your hawk is scavenging for eggs. Also, when you have all your eggs you can just click Cancel and the eggs will be in your inventory, no need to fly back up. Same thing if you are under attack and not finished, if you hit Cancel you will still have the eggs you collected already.

The exact location of the roost is at 76.7,67.7. You get close to it and use to
take control over a Falcon (acts like a vehivcle).

Once you take control over the Falcon, you are given 3 abilities (only usable on the quest involved Hawks):

Scavenge - Steal eggs. You need to be close by the egg and use this ability. Make sure you got inventory space!
Soar - A small (300%) speed boost for 4 seconds.
Escape - A disorient effect, lasts for 6 seconds on the target. Meanwhile, Soar away!

You basically roam around along the mountain wall and steal eggs using Scavenge! If you get in trouble you can get
away by using the Escape ability on the mob that is after you. The Soar can help go from one egg to the other much
faster or just to get away more easier.

Here is a screenshot over the roost and the location of the eggs (if you are confused).

It is a really easy quest and not bad for a ending of the chain, neat rewards too. :)

If you stay at "back" side of the Roost, you should have low problem with Shoveltusk Stag while you explore the zones :) Don't fell from the rocks!

Yes, you can fly pretty far, and cast time is also long with 300 seconds.
The flying range is around to almost above the tower of Utgarde Keep, but i cannot touch the tower building.
That means you can only explore Valgarde, Nifflevar, a burning ship by entrance, entrance path, long part of east coast included boats, swim into lake by Valgarde (doh!), and showing to players in Valgarde...

But it's limited fun because you can only summon it by Roost. You cannot fly very far.
Too bad, it's really free exploring chance. You get only aggro from normal mobs on the ground, but the Storm Giant ignores your bird so you can look him better or fly through him.

This was a fun quest. Before you begin, kill the shoveltusk stag
and it will take some time to re-spawn.
I was able to get all of the eggs before it did.
But I had done this quest with my hunter, so I knew to fly down and then across the cliff to gather the eggs.
The bird does have a lot of range and time. I took it sight seeing and flew all over after I'd finished the quest. I don't know how far you could go with it; because just about the time my bar got to 10% left, the stag must have
re-spawned and that brought me back quick!

I don't know what the deal is with this quest. I've been trying to do this for months now, and no one besides me (and my husband) seem to have this problem: When I use the cage (provided by the quest giver) at the roost, it only gives me two buttons: 'Hawk Hunting' (which does absolutely nothing) and 'Cancel' (which obviously cancels it and returns me to my body). I do not get the 'Scavange', 'Soar' and 'Escape' buttons at all. Anyone know what the problem could be?

I suspect that you are still using the old cage from the earlier quests in this chain. You need to use the new cage (no grubs required) that should be in your bag. Hope that helps.

Night elves can Shadowmeld while their hawk is out hunting. After you get yourself into position, summon your hawk and open your Spellbook (P). Just click on Shadowmeld from the General pane and *poof*! You're relatively safe from Shoveltusks.

If your a Druid with Flight Form or have a Flying mount & Cold Weather Flying, just fly at the matriachs and then go to a ledge to kill them. Makes the quest a lot easier and quicker without having to dodge them.

In my opinion, the best way to do this quest is to avoid the birds as much as possible. If you take your time and sneak by them you won't get you falcon killed and have a much easier time.

people who are only seeing the 2 buttons - move your eyes down one bar. the other 3 are in the proper action bar!

The eggs are in nests on the side of the cliffs. You can still be attacked by mobs wandering at the top of the cliff next to the roost. If you're also in combat with a matriarch while flying the hawk, you may not get a warning, other than seeing your own health bar go down. So watch both your hawks and your health bars.

Had the worst time with this! I got the quest finished, but then it wouldn't let me "Leave Vehicle" and my toon was being attacked by the Stag. Couldn't even get the Matriarchs to attack now, lol.

Then, of course, I died. Bugger them all.

Go E to 76,67, let ur falcon go and direct it down to the nests.
U have Scavenge to pick eggs, and soar and escape if attacked.
Does not work with Bongos or Dominos, dissable it.

I had some problems with this one at first. I cleared all the mobs around the stone but channeling took a few minutes and had to "exit vehicle" when I got attacked by a big bull. Tried again and found out that the channeling bar was actually a timer for the amount of time you have to fly around. When it was up, my character appeared at the stone and before I could start the process over, I was attacked by the big bull again. Completed the quest on the second try. As was suggested previously, I stayed low, away from the cliffs, and though I some some birds I was never attacked.

Apparently using Soar will allow you to move fast enough to trigger some anti-hack disconnect mechanism that will disconnect you from the game.
Also a Shoveltusk Stag is able to aggro to you while you are controlling the falcon.

Bonus note, I got disconnected while the shoveltusk was attacking me, so when I logged back in, I couldn't attack it and it had infinite melee range when I moved, I had to kill it with aoe spell then log out to reset myself.

I just want to make a shout-out to those dev who put agressive mob in the area where you have to call the bird. I know this is one of the essence of classic, but this part of the past I am willing to let go of.

If you have addons which have modified action bars, you may not see the buttons. Just hit 1 to gather and 2 to move quickly.
