I found myself flying around it looking what it was... When I noticed it could be attacked I shifted out flightform whilst moonfiring it once... after I fell down I realised I was inside the thing underneath unable to get out of because I was still in combat due to this NPC.

let this be a lesson :P !!! Do not attack it while in the ring underneath it cuz it will keep you in Combat for eternity!

it CAN be attacked but it has to be by range from the bottom

I got stuck in combat as per above, but was able to log out in the middle of the ring. When I logged back in I was out of combat and able to mount up.

Actually, all you have to do is talk to the drake next to the professor. He'll fly you around it and you just use the disruptor until the conduit is out of it's health bar. Takes about 3 hits with the disruptor to complete. Drake is on a set path.

I'm sitting here useing slow fall over and over in attempt to kill it... cant seem to get it to fight back :(

I managed to kill it by landing on a ledge close enough for my frostbolt to hit it, it has this gnarly explosion and the ground shakes for a few seconds and smoke comes pouring out of everywhere, but nothing that really affects anything. It's kind of pointless

you just need to take the netherdrake and launch the phase disruptor when you are near the mana forge

it's right next to the guy.. if you don't see it, get on your own flying mount and do it.
