This is currently the highest level dragonhawk available for hunters to tame. It's colors are nice, a sort of yellowy-cream with a crimson tail and wing tips, as opposed to the pink and purple ones (approximately level 68) that can be found in Shadowmoon Valley.
When tamed it already knows flame breath 2, a cone fire effect that damages enemies for 2 seconds. After taming it seems to maintain most of it's original size too.

The Falconer/Bloodfalcon pulls in Botanica are best handled by crowd controlling the falconer.
If you don't he will command the Bloodfalcons to attack a random party member. Things can get very hairy if it happens to be the healer...

This was by far the most fun I had taming a pet. It looks cool at it is a challenge to tame, being that it is elite and if CC on the falconer breaks it gets way fun. I wish blizzard would make more pets that are worth taming and a challenge to tame like this one.

Ever wondered why the most important hunter Aspect is named after Dragonhawks? Well, this beauty right here is your answer - even at level 80,
Bloodfalcons remain the hardest tame in the game
if you want to do it without a group. Heres why:
- You can only find Bloodfalcons in groups of 3 in Botanica, controlled by +1 falconer. The group is impossible to separate, pull one and the whole bunch is on you. Killing all but one and running out of the instance doesn't work either, the whole group will respawn.
- Even if you're decked out in epics, you will still definitely feel the punches, so unless you're a world recorder at jump-shot-kiting, I'd suggest having a pet with you to suck up some damage. Of course having to abandon your temporary pet mid-fight complicates things, so have your Freezing Trap ready.
- You should also know that the falconer lady doesn't fall for the usual hunter threat-trick, she has a short fuse ability to make the falcons ignore your pet, and send them at you - so kill her first or suffer the consequences.
- Once you killed but one of the falcons you can begin the taming process... umm, provided you manage to perfectly time another Freezing Trap. The Bloodfalcon at this point has the ability to knock you back which stops the taming, and you definitely won't have enough mana and health at that point to try again... so no ice block, no cookie.
Is it worth it then? Hell yeah! The Bloodfalcon is without a doubt one of the prettiest pets in the game. And like every other self respecting beast of the Dragonhawk family it BREATHES FIRE. Yep, Fire Breath, 20 yard range, 7 sec CD. :) Now how's that for epic?

This mob is hard enough where help may be needed. I tried to do this at 77 thinking I could plow through it. However, it is a bit tricky.
Getting to them, starting from the entrance
There is two
Bloodwarder Protectors
with a walking
Tempest-Forge Peacekeeper
. Kill those. The
Bloodwarder Protectors
will come together, but the
Tempest-Forge Peacekeeper
can be taken alone and it hits hard so that may be a good idea. I tried running and then FD (impatience), but that proved to be a mistake.
Next is two more
Bloodwarder Protectors
and another walking
Tempest-Forge Peacekeeper
. Same as before.
Next is a room with 3 mobs front, 3-4 mobs each side, 2
Bloodwarder Protectors
at the end and a
Tempest-Forge Peacekeeper
(walking right side). Take the 3 front, then the right group preferably without the walker, the walker and then the two
Bloodwarder Protectors
. If low level, the other left group may agro also.. otherwise they can be skipped.
Next is a group of 2-3 mobs directly past the opening, but I was able to keep left and skip them.
Keep left and hug the wall/rail, you will see
Bloodwarder Falconer
and 3
Bloodfalcons
. Take a couple minutes and watch them. The falcons will occasionally patrol both paths.
Round 1: Taming
Once agro'd all will fight and it is unlikely any hunter can survive all 3 elite attackers while taming the other. I foolishly tried this.
Also tried sleeping the
Bloodwarder Falconer
while taming one in an icetrap while two hit on me. My health could not sustain enough damage.
Also tried killing the
Bloodwarder Falconer
and then FD so I could maybe pull one alone. FAIL, the moment you FD, a new
Bloodwarder Falconer
appears. That is more than unfair.
Round 2: Taming (Called in an 80 DK to help)
First attempt was to kill all but one and then tame, but the DK held agro and the tame could not even start.
Instance reset...
Ice trapped and started tame, DK agro'd and killed the rest. SUCCESS! The tame itself was cake.
Happy hunting....

To tame one of these you have to polymorph/sap the falconer so they wont command the bloodfalcons then ice trap + tame

I've had a dragon hawk for a few days now, and I like it, looks awesome and its nice to have a pet that can AOE, so i use (carefully) in group work and instances. Quite good to hunt with too but again, have to be careful with that aoe, even though it seems less risky than my owl was with screech. Okay I'm MM (8/43/10) hunter so I dont have some of the issues that the previous BM commenter has and I always prefer dash and dive, as I main damage dealer and I just want my pet there fast.
Not sure whats the deal with level 69/70 pets w.r.t training, im not sure if you can get it to loyalty level 6 if it cant gain exp.. hope someone can advise here, the dragonhawk I took was one of the level 67 ones in SMV...
Bangalash is the only pet still with something special, cobra reflexes still stands him head and shoulders above all other pets for damage and caster interrupts. Apparently Blizz is gonna make this trainable to all cats.. IMO cat is the only pet that ALL hunters should def have.. with cobra.. if for nothing else but pvp. (Unless your a boar-charge fan)
Hope this is of use to you..

Is it Possible to solo tame one?

is it true you need a flying mount to reach this instance? This is the instance in Netherstorm right? Cuz if you do theres no way im taming one of these any time soon

You can't solo tame because you have to go through groups and they are lvls 68-70 to get to them then the hawks are 68and there is about 4 of then then the lvl 69-70 falconier...and yes you need your flyer to get to it...but i think you can prob get a lock to summon you onto the platform but you need to be in a group to walk into the instance

I thought I'd leave a note here about my own Bloodfalcon from The Botanica. Her name is Akeah (named after the two friends who helped me get in and tame her) and she's a fantastic pet, particularly in instances like Black Morass when an AOE attack like fire breath helps quite a lot if you're dealing with the adds.
Her DPS is pretty average so a lot of the time I'll use my cat, a Spotted Nightsaber from Teldrassil named Karma. However, I've had Akeah for a couple of months now, and I haven't yet seen another Dragonhawk as a hunter's pet, so she always gets a couple of (admiring) comments when I do bring her out.
She's able to hold her own in 70 instances fine, and can even offtank for a bit (with buffs, ideally) if the group needs more CC. She's too squishy for much, but then again, I don't think many people would expect a fluttery thing that looks like it's made of paper to tank a lot. She can cope with your average 2-3 grinding/dailies mobs fine.
So, in short, I'd recommend this stunning pet for the hunter who wants a unique, pretty pet that's able to cope in most situations. The AOE attack is a great bonus as long as it's used carefully, and overall I'm very happy with my girl. :)

The "caster pets" weaknesses remarks no longer applies for tbc classic. Or the differences are negligible.
A short quote from petopedia:
Pets with "Caster" Attributes: Do they exist in BC Classic?
Short answer: Not really. You don't need to worry about this bug in BC Classic!
source:
https://www.wow-petopia.com/classic_bc/casterpets.php
In other words the "caster bug" has not been reproduced in classic tbc by blizzard. Or is fixed you could say.
