Soloable as an arcane/frost spec mage (40-0-21) - Kill the pack of dogs right next to him, and arcane blast him down (in the corner where the dogs were so he cant pull adds). at about 70% after you stacked all the "Debuffs" of arcane blast, blow arcane power and icy veins and continue to arcane blast, pom a blast in there if you so choose. You MAY have to blow a potion, but i didnt, at about 7% i was able to just use fire blast and arcane explostion or cone of cold (your choice how you get him down from there).

Way harder than you would want it to be, but im not too sure any other spec mage could take this one down. He's hard...Died quite a few times before getting him down.

Easily soloable by a Mage or any ranged class.

As you face the boss from the entrance, see the cliff to the right of him? Clear the pack of non elites, then pull the guard up and just jump on and off the cliff.

If you are killing him for the key another alternate you might like to try is a seaforium Charge. I have yet to try it but later on today i'm going to investiagte the effects on Elemental Seaforium Charge on The inner door.

Despite what it says in the quick facts section he is not friendly to the Horde. Until you get the King of the Gordok buff that is.

You need to kill this guy first, to obtain the Gordok Inner Door Key (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=11501) to open the door so you can kill King Gordok, (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/npc=11501), as one third of the bosses you need for the DM dungeon achievement.

To punish higher levels for farming Dire Maul, Blizzard has reduced the drop rate for the Gordok Shackle Key (to open the cache) on the bosses to be equal to any of the other ogres. You must kill all to get a chance to get the key.

yes he is in dm north.
we farmed him alot after a dm tribune run,where not even the stave was droped.but we found myrdiams signet or how its spelled.
and this guard,hmm he just dropped the axe and a ring

Word is moldar got nerfed to not drop a single trinket book. People are reporting hundreds of kills with no drops.

Priest is able to solo this guy. Just go around right after entrace, put some agro range reduce puffs on ogres , aoe 3 packs of spiders and bugs.

There is a cliff and a little hill beside the wall jump on it and back to make guardian and one pack of dogs run up and down stairs. Dot the guardian to death (i sometimes kill the dogs by dotting them all too for green drops). Loot and DE and reset the instance for second go.

! ! There is a little patrol: one ogre and 2 dogs passing u usuallly while u are dooing this... just make sure u keep ur agroed dogs and guardian close the hill at the time they are passing by so they dont get agroed ! !

Since 1.5 you cant kill him and skip out and still have the key... it disappears

a) can he be pickpocketed?
b) what else can open the door? Rogue, Blacksmithing, Engineering?

You just have to kill 1 ogre and 1 pack of dogs (the ones to the right) to pull him without any problem.

Unless u suck at pulling... :P

Today he dropped an epic Paladin and Warrior Quest book. Turned it in to the guy in Atheneus and I was given the Onyxia Sword quest. "The Forging of Quel'Serrar". The sword is, from what I was told, a 51dps 1H sword.

the posts saying this guy can be pulled after only 1 mob, or pulled single without clearing the field, are wrong. he has huge aggro range for friends, and you either have to clear dogs on right, or ogre camp on the left to get him single. alternatly, you could go all the way around and pull him from the back, but that would require even more time, to get there.

The other way to pop any door in Dire Maul is to strip naked and aggro an Ogre and die next to a Door - rez on the other side and hit the Torch.

As of 16/10/2019. He has no pockets to be picked. So if you can't skip you'll have to kill and loot the key. Hope they fix it
