I'm currently farming these for frost pots to bring to Kharazan, and after having tried Arathi Highlands, I highly recommend the Lesser Water Elementals of Stranglethorn Vale. No, the droprate isn't higher pound per pound, but the mobs are a lot more plentiful. If you're a lvl 70 and you're gonna farm these, you will be spending at least 5 minutes waiting in between spawns in Arathi, whereas the waiting time in Stranglethorn is shorter, and the action more plentiful. A more pleasant and productive grind.

Currently I'm getting between 1-6 elemental waters per "spawn wave" (No pun intended) with an average waiting time of about 2 minutes. Very fast.

I farmed these at the camp of Cresting Exiles in Arathi for about 45 minutes and came out with 12. I found that each time you clear the camp you get about one drop. So one Elemental Water every four or five minutes.

Best place is definitely at STV. they keep respawning fairly quickly once you're done clearing it. It is an island located northwest of STV. (20,23). About 10% drop rate.

Also the western coast of Feralas, loads of fast spawning elementals there, but these are also the target of a quest picked up in the area, so depending on the time of day, could get a bit crowded.

this may sound a bit ulikely, but i got 2 of the right after each other in 1K needles. doing the "sacred flame" quest i killed alot of the water elementals. now im gonna try push the pricing for them as high ass i can get them :P

I've found that the fastest way to obtain a few of these is actually through fishing the patches of elemental water in Azshara. If nobody else happens to be fishing in this area, which is pretty often considering how few people fish for profit (especially in lower level areas), you'll probably catch 10-20 elemental waters in 45 minutes or so. I got really lucky and picked up 21 in half an hour, but I was on a 70 druid for added swimming speed.

There is a slight problem with the comments on this item...Elemental Water...these do not drop from STV....those are Enchanted Water, not Elemental water, which this page is about. Elemental Waters drop from either Arathi Highlands as mentioned above or they drop from fishing in Azshara. Enchanted water drops frequently in STV on that island but not elemental water.

If your planning on leveling Jewlcrafting, its a good Idea to farm the water elementals in Arathi while doing your iron mining cycle.

By the time I got to mithril I already had plenty of these to not have to worry about farming them.

as a feral druid, all I can say is booooring! I've taken to fairie firing them into the water to kill them in seal ... or sometimes i'll use up all my mana and just hurricane them all. just lately i've been killing them in travel form. anything to not have to wait for the respawn. bring a friend...get a beer or have a tv close by. you'll need it if you don't want your brain to turn to mush.

I farmed those on my 76 unholy DK for leveling Jewelcrafting.

Killing all the mobs the island in STV (~20 mobs) yielded 1, maybe 2 flasks of elemental water. It took me about an hour to farm the 20 bottles I needed.

Contrary to the above posts, I had difficulties looting Elemental Waters from the STV Water Elementals (maybe bad luck). Tried Arathi, a bit better, but still dissapointing.

Then it came to my mind to try out the Water Elementals at Feralas beach. Well, that worked much better for me. So, if you are level 47+ you could try Feralas as well.

I was farming the STV location, and I know you could say "Unlucky" but it seems to be really common among others that farm this. Don't know why it is like this : /

STV is a good area but at lvl 80 I wiped out the whole island and was waiting just as long for them to respawn, not to mention the droprate for me was low, though RNG never agreed with this toon.

Also, these things drop pretty nicely at the Circle of East Binding just a touch northwest of Hammerfall in the Hinterlands.

It's easier to do it there than Gnomeregan since they respawn nicely.

Absolute terrible droprate. Somewhere around 20 mobs I started counting I am currently on 127, yes no exaggeration and I still haven't gotten one, I was getting 2-4 every wave, then it just stopped. They are like 20g each on my server since everyone and their mother seems to be leveling J/C.

From my experience it is pointless fishing for these. As other users say the island off The Savage Coast in Stranglethorn Vale is full of Lesser Water Elementals that give you them much faster. Although I haven't tried the west coast of Feralas yet.

I was able to collect 6 Elemental Waters on the island northwest of the coast in Stranglethorn Vale - also got a locked box (need to find someone to pick the lock for me so can't say at this time what's in it, but it was a nice surprise anyway) and more Enchanted Water than I'd ever expected to find; just shy of 100 Enchanted Waters. I spent a little over an hour taking down the Water Elementals to get these results with my level 46 pally. Of note: Gasdan is also on this island & he transforms into a larger level 40 water Elemental. Not once did he drop Elemental Water in the time I was farming. I also spent the time getting up my 2-handed mace skills with the new mace I'd bought in the AH earlier; went from 60 to 228 for 2-handed mace skill. Bonus! ;0)

I've found fishing in Azshara to be my preferred way of gathering these.

There are 6 spawns of the elemental water, sadly I don't have a co-ords addon, however gathermate should be able to import the nodes in for you if you have that.

And of course it was much quicker for me because i was a shaman, mounted water walking is ftw for getting between the nodes lol.

I see people recommend STV instead of Arathi, but I took around 20 waves on the island northwest in STV. Got 12 elemental water bottles. Not very high drop-rate there measured up to how many mobs it is over there. I had more luck in arathi at the circle of east binding. In two waves i gathered 8 bottles. Pretty much what i needed. It could be just good luck for once.

Although I think it all depends on your luck..

No way the drop rate is ~4% on the Scalding Elementals in Thousand Needles. I've experienced a lot more, at least 15-20%.

After patch 2.1 the drop rate of the low-level elements like this has increased ALOT.

Water elementals in Stranglethorn Vale around 21,23 drop Elemental Water at around 15-20% droprate now.

Expect the prices to drop like stones from an airplane.

Ok....so I went to the exile place in Arathi. I slaughtered the entire place (which is pretty easy for an SPriest) and I only got one elemental water... I continued the masacre for awhile. Then I went to STV. I killed three and one dropped. I killed three more. Another dropped. STV is the way to go.

The best place to farm Elemental Water is easily STV.The Lesser Water Elementals on the island in northwestern STV drop the water much more than the cresting exiles in arathi. Also, there are much more elementals at stv.

I haven't tried farming in Arathi but in STV the droprate is a consistent 9% average. As with all drops they seem to come in groups... you get a couple then you don't get any. The average rate though is right at 9%. I killed 130 and received 12 (also 2 greens and a blue).

Update: farmed another 100 or so elementals; the drop-rate has increased to about 10%. Also many more greens.

70 hunter, farmed at The ring for an hour, killed countless elementals, i think the droprate is completely random, first 4 mobs i got 3 elemental waters, about 10, nothing, then 2 from 5 or 6, then 15 and nothing, dunno about STV but per hour i'd probably have 20 pretty easy - just needed 30 for my JC and got them all in 2 hours

The lesser elementals on the aforementioned island at 20,22, or the island off the northwest coast of Stranglethorn Vale, by Grom'gol, do indeed do the trick.

As a lvl 63 mage farming for Elemental Water I wasted the entire island and recieved 5 EW's for the trouble.

needed 10 for my jc, when i saw price on ah was unreasonably high (about 6g each)i went farming for it in STV(island at 20,22).got 20 of them less than a hour.i've put rest on ah for 1g each.so my advice is to go farm if price is too high and help lower the price

and if u find that theres ele water beeing sold to cheap on your server just buy them up and sell them at a higher price,,,just force the market with higher priced elemental waters.

Stranglethorn Vale (Island off of the northwest coast) is definitely the way to go on farming ELEMENTAL WATER.

I am a level 66 Shadow Priest using Mind Flay, I can usually farm about 25-30 ELEMENTAL WATER in an hour.

Each 10 stack are selling for 100g in Alliance Auction Houses.

I have made approximately 852g in one week farming ELEMENTAL WATER.

Arathi Basin drop is no where near this rate.

On Malfurion, cheapest I saw on AH was 11g. Ouch!

For my JC, it is easier and cheaper than buying from AH. STV was the best I found with a drop rate of nearly 20-25%. Not the greatest drop rate, but the best I have found so far.

I cleared entire STV island with my mage and got 0 elemental waters.

Went with my DK in Arathi, cleared it once, got 4.

Best strategy is actually to position toons in multiple grinding spots, so you can grind effectively/ if one spot is bad for some reason, log on the other toon.

I recommend for this easily relocatable classes like mages and dks.

i regularly go to vile reef lil isle, some days drop rate good some days not, easy way to make gold from peeps in northrend.

average for me after 5-6 trips, every 6-10 killed 1 drop might be lucky an get moe but this is purely an avg

STV 11 in about 40 minutes today so not bad. But level 80 dk able to clear fast and they are quick rezzers. They also drop enchanted waters for mana users at a good rate.

Man, I'd love to have the drop rates in STV that you guys are talking about. I cleared the island 3 times and got 1 elemental water. Got about 200 stupid enchanted water total tonight. I decided that I'd rather go someplace with a lower drop rate, but that I'd at least be leveling up my guy. 53 shaman. Kills me that people charge 12 gold per elemental water. I of course need about 20 to level up my JC. I almost think I should just grind out levels and make the gold elsewhere and just buy em. Between there and the coast of Feralas, I got 2 in about 1 to 1.5 hours. I bet I had about a 2% drop rate between both places.

Ok, I'm starting the grind at STV at 3:30 PM EST. Let's see how long it takes me to get a stack of 20 Elemental Water. They sell for about 12.5 gold each on my server (Lightninghoof), so this will also be a measure of how long it takes me to make 250 gold. I'm a level 40 priest, by the way.

I got 4 elemental water out of 13 lesser elementals killed. I only got 1 when I cleared all the water elementals at a single spawn in Arathi, plus in STV the island pretty much only has elementals on it. In Arathi, you've got a lot more wandering mobs that might join in. The tactic of working your way around the island so the first ones you fought have respawned by the time you get back around is a good one. I've done that to good effect when farming elemental water for my crafting friends.

Tried this again last night.
I cleared the island 15 times (meaning I went counterclockwise from the south, killing all the elementals on the island 15 times).
I got:
17 Elemental Water
94 Azuredeep Shards (gray vendor trash worth about 80 cp each)
191 Enchanted Water
Chief Brigadier Cloak
Sentinel Boots of the Monkey
- I got a magic item about every fifth time around the island (horrible drop rate for mediocre items).
- I was on my 3rd time around when the first elemental water dropped. I didn't always get one per trip around (sometimes got none one time and two the next). Makes me think only about one elemental on the island actually has an elemntal water at a time (there are 13-20 elementals on the island at any one time by my count).
- A lot of the elementals drop nothing. I only saw one Azuredeep Shards drop per mob. Only 1 elemental water per mob (when it did drop). You can get up to 5 enchanted waters at one time (that's the most I got at one time). You can get all three items from a single kill sometimes (what I call a "juicy" mob).
- May be a coincidence but 15 of the 17 elemental waters I got were from elementals on the southern/southeastern part of the island.
- The elementals swimming in the water off the northwest part of the island almost never had any loot at all and when they did it was 1 Azuredeep Shards or 1 Enchanted Water.

(Sent the Elemental Waters to a tailoring friend, sold the shards to a vendor, still don't know if I should bother AHing the Enchanted Water. Also, on my way back to Booty Bay I stopped to mine some iron and had to kill a Cold Eye Basilisk nearby. It dropped the Cold Basilisk Eye trinket. Woot!)

These can now be fished .. similiar to the pools of random fish .. there are "patches of elemental water". I found several pools in the Bay of Storms in Azshara. Note that you can also fish Essence of Water and Globes of Water from these patches as well.

I killed over 100 cresting exiles yesterday and received 75 enchanted water, 35 crests and only 1 elemental water. Based on this drop rate I should have gotten approximately 10 elemental waters.

Saying that the droprate is wrong cause you got 2 elementals out of 44 kills is just lame. If you look really close you see that allakhazam got it's droprate out of 58.000 kills, and if you knew just a tiny bit about statistics, you would know that such a large source is more reliable.
What you just said is like me saying that I got no elemental waters out of 1 kill, thus the droprate is 0%

I know the stats disagree, but I've been taking turns grinding the Lesser Water Elementals in STV and Cresting Exiles in Arathi and I've been getting a lot more Elemental Water drops in STV...

Also, if you start at one end of that island in STV and work your way to the other side (lengthways) the first mobs will be freshly respawned again by the time you reach the end; rinse repeat. Cresting Exiles on the other hand are a smaller pop so you'll always have downtime waiting for respawn. Obviously your server load will alter any respawn rates, so there may be times when Arathi grinding is desirable... I doubt it though.

In short; stick with Lesser Water Elementals in STV if you want Elemental Water.

Feralas. Sea spray and Sea Elementals, on the coastline by the boat to Feathermoon Stronghold. Killed all the mobs on the entire coastline, twice, not a single drop. Would not recommend.

As of late 2024 (Nov) the price of Elemental Water has plumetted below 2G per unit, while the drop rate is the same. Not worth the grind.
