Omg.. please don't say they changed the design of this. The avatar first looked like the Pulsing Spellshield . Now the avatar looks like the Shield of Assimilation.
As a elemental shaman, I can't say how much I hate using Shield of assimilation, trying so hard to get Pulsing spellshield from ulduar, or just any other shield to replace it.

The design, and way Shield of Assimilation sits on the back is just ugly, and poorly designed, and I hate having to look at it every day.

God blizzard, please don't just make another version of this!

40...the exact number of boss kills according to my statistics that could have dropped a shield upgrade for me (from Protective Barricade of Light) and yet I have never had 1 drop.

9...the number of months I have had to use Protective Barricade of Light and unequip when out of an instance to avoid embarrassment.

3,481...the number of tears I've shed as I cry myself to sleep because I don't have a new shield...still.

Shame there's no HC version but this will be a welcome upgrade to many I'm sure. Now maybe I'll start to QQ that the Frozen Halls HCs seem to drop every type of weapon (including 2 different 1H Tank weapons) and yet nothing for Holy Palas.

What's that? The drop rate for Battered Hilt has been lowered? /sigh

I would like to confirm that this does indeed drop, although it appears to be extremely low compared to the other items I have seen off of the last boss. This took me 20 attempts to actually see this shield drop and thankfully I won it.

Well, after a couple of days farming the Pit, Finally got it dropped: 18 runs, 2 drops.
Lost one drop to another holy pally who was healing that one, I was selected as dps for that run.
It looks not as a pally or shaman shield, but its obtainable. I got other people in the run that had this one and got it on their first, second or third drop.
So: keep at it. it WILL drop.

I am running into the same problem as others have posted, so i suspect the droprate really is low for this item. Been running this instance 2 times a day since patch day and I haven't seen it drop even once.

Shaman who are after this may also want to look into Shriveled Heart from heroic HoR. Getting that turned out to be way less of a hassle for me.

Quite disturbing that it drops in normal mode imo. Noone does normal runs, even if you ask them nicely. And besides, why can't they just implement a shield thats rewarded from badges instead? Im drowning in emblems and theres nothing (outside raids) I can upgrade my Protective Barrier of The Light with since... I mean... CMON!

For a resto shaman it is very nice to see them finally add a shield for us. Like an above poster I also have way to many boss kills with no upgrade for my very very embarrassing shield. (2/5 T10, with the rest of my gear being mostly 251 a few 245 and one 200 shield lol)

However, I would still much higher recommend the Shriveled Heart caster offhand from HoR over this shield. Haste is much more preferable to mp5 which is the least concern for anyone geared for ICC. Still hoping for a shield of even close quality to the easy to get offhands out there.

Edit: Great point Razor, I don't PvP very much (not any good :P). For PvP I can see how this shield would be a fantastic addition and much better than Shriveled Heart. Now if they would have a heroic shield similar to the Shriveled Heart stats, I'm sure both pvpers and raiders would rejoice!

I had run Pit of Saron several times and never saw this drop. I had been carrying Aegis of Damnation for quite awhile, and was bothered because all the upgrades were from raids for which I wasn't geared. However, I helped run a couple of guildies through the three new ICC dungeons last night and this dropped; it's definitely a nice upgrade.

Really bad tbh, I've soon done 40 runs in there to try get that shield, hasn't even dropped once! WTB higher drop rate, sick of that instance now tbh.. :'(

You have to rememeber that with https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=50309, the int is quite a lot less, even without the enchant so, as a holy pally i would take this over the off hand any day. Just my opinion though.

Ok so no joke, I have ran normal PoS 14 times now and still have yet to even see this drop for my resto shammy. I must have the worst luck ever or the drop rate is much lower then what Wowhead shows

Has anybody else noticed that this shield is rotated 45 degrees clockwise? Looks kinda silly when it's on your back or on your arm.

Of course I'm still glad I got this shield. :P

Tyrannus sometimes bugs out in the current build, in my experience it has happened in 5 runs of the 25 normal I have done (he does it in heroic too). That is, in 5 of the runs he bugged out, sometimes it happened multiple times after resetting him (wiping), once 3 times in a row before I dropped group to get ported out while in combat to avoid another repair bill. All up about 9 times it's happened to me.

From the World of Warcraft Client Patch 3.3.3 Known Issues post:

Pit of Saron - Scourgelord Tyrannus can remount Rimefang during the encounter.

From what I've seen, debuffing him while he is mounted seems to be a possible offender in causing this. Things like Faerie Fire, Hunter's Mark etc. If you are having issues with him resetting constantly, tell your party to let him land and attack the tank before doing anything to him, damage or debuffs.

Considering how annoying it can be to get this shield to drop, this bug can make a person want to punch kittens.

This probabky has the lowest drop rate, ever. Everytime I run this on my resto Shaman it never drops. Even the items that drop from Scourgelord Tyrannus that have a lower drop rate come up more. This should be coming up as much as Shroud of Rime because that thing always drops when i run Pit of Saron regular.

Absolutely dumbfounded. Shaman DPS are queuing up with the intention to ninja this off the healer because, "There's nothing better until ICC." This is the sort of thing that should be on emblem vendors.

This seems to have a much lower drop rate than all of his other loot, just finished my 16th run to see it drop for the first time and lose out on it to a Shaman dps, because Mp5 is so great for an elemental Shaman right? On a plus if your a Hunter the 霜禍步槍 seems to have a 75% drop rate, it's dropped on 12/13 times on my 16 runs.

I saw this drop the first time I went to PoS and lost it to an ele shaman. Haven't seen it drop since and at this rate it looks like I'm going to complete my tier set with badges and then buy the lvl 200 badge shield before I can replace my stupid lvl 187 shield. :( This is the main reason I hardly play my holy pally anymore.
