If a paladin tank is at or over 102.4% miss + dodge + parry + block with holy shield up, then block rating is completely useless. Most tankadins in Naxx 25 gear easily hit this (My pally is sitting around 104% even after diminishing returns). This necklace is easily just as good for a pally (or a warrior) as it is a death night.

A Paladin sitting Block Capped has no use for Block Rating. This is for any tank.

While I'm on the subject, strength adds to Shield Block Value. 71 strength on a tanking necklace is nothing to sneeze at, add that to the higher stamina than Nexus War Champion Beads and a (debatable) better socket color, this is an extremely good necklace.

its a tank piece. It has good stats for any plate tank class. Both facts indicate that this item shouldn't be given to one class over another. Please save the "<class> should be the only one to get it" for thottbot, as the gentleman above stated.

Being a druid tank would still think very hard about rolling on this has great stats plus the socket the only thing not useful is the parry rating.

Vanir translates into Earth Giant.
Currently the is only one boss in ulduar that fits into the Vanir description that has a hardmode is Freya. This means that there is a very good chance it indeed drops from hardmode Freya

Being a bear tank I would put this as BiS for druid tanks. I say this because the only other real options for bear tanks as upgrades from Boundless Ambition are Bronze Pendant of the Vanir and Shard of the Crystal Forest and the Bronze Pendant only beats the Shard for bears because it has a socket.

Blizzard changed mechanics for druid tanks because they couldn't make items with the same stats that served equally well for all tanking classes. Defense was always a bad stat for druids since bears can't block or parry. Even when druids needed defense to be crit-immune it was a better stat for warriors and paladins. If you see a necklace with dodge or defense, its for warriors, paladins, and DKs. Not for bears.

If you look at how classes have changed over time, the changes have made it easier for Blizzard to create loot by having fewer items to satisfy everyone's needs. It's why shaman can't tank anymore. It's why spirit is now useful to warlocks. It's why shaman get AP from agility. It's why ret paladins don't need intellect. And it's also why druids don't need defense (and why bears have savage defense)

The necklaces you linked would have been great for druid tanks a few patches ago (which is, oddly enough, before these items even existed). Now these items are far from ideal for druid tanks because the itemization is budgeted for plate-wearing tanks, not druids. Choker of the Abyss gives more dodge despite a lower ilvl. This is because the choker is budgeted for druid tanks.

"BiS" means "best in slot", not "better in slot". If you have a terrible necklace this item will be an upgrade. But that's not how you determine which item is best in slot. For example, suppose you have an Ice Encrusted Amulet of the Bear with 49 stamina and 32 strength. The Sapphire Amulet of Renewal would be an upgrade to you since it has 21 more stamina, 35 haste, and a red socket, even though it wasn't designed for druid tanks. That doesn't make it best in slot, it just makes it better than what you have.

That's a slightly more absurd example, but its the exact same reason why this necklace is appealing to druid tanks. Because you have a bad necklace, this item seems amazing even though it's not itemized for your class. Lucky for us, its not likely that the people who still don't understand the druid tanking changes are leading (and master looting) successful 25 man Ulduar raids.
