What has added greatly to the confusion is a post by one of the Blizzard moderators several weeks before the expansion. The post made a specific comment about the Tome of Dalaran Intelligence and Brilliance calling them the top level for the arcane brilliance and Intellect spells. I think most including myself read that as the books were required to reach top level. Searching back I found the post again and noticed it had been edited and the wording changed making it much clearer what the books were. It's unfortunate however that that poorly worded post by a Blizzard moderator is going to result in people forking out a lot of gold for something that they don't need.

I want to try to clarify all of the confusion.

This is not needed in order to have the best level of Arcane Intellect, which you learn at a mage trainer like normal. The effects of learning this tome are purely for looks, and looks alone.

This is the same for Arcane Brilliance, Tome of Dalaran Brilliance is not needed in order to have the best level of this spell.

I can't get a straight answer. One person in trade said its the same buff just different icon. Not paying 400g for a different icon.

What, if any, is the difference between this and the regular Arcane Intellect? Same goes for the Brilliance tome.
