Drop rate shouldnt be too bad, a lot of rogues seem to have looted this already and Wrath hasn't even been out for 2 weeks yet.
Went out for about 2 hours before server went down and got around 150 boxes maybe but no luck although i did get a green ring and a blue gem along with almost 20 stacks a runic healing pots and about 200g just from pickpocketing 0o. Icecrown seems to be a nice place.

Edit: Scratch off icecrown. "The Avalanche" in Sholazar Basin has to be the best place to pick the boxes, 100's of undead mobs there all pickable.

Probably a world drop from higher levels (76-80). And lockboxes stolen from mobs around that level.

That is, if you compare it with Krol blade.

I can verify that this drops out of lockboxes. I have always pickpocketed everything I can, and it finally paid off when I looted this beast out of a box I picked off a lvl 71 non-elite. So I got my first lvl 80 epic at lvl 73... I imagine that the drop rate is unbelievably low, however, as they don't want to allow people to just farm out Naxx lvl loot.

The second i saw this on Wowhead i knew i was gonna farm it til i´d eventually get it...

Right now im at about 400 Junkboxes, as well as ~300 Runic Healing Potions and 2x Spare Hands, and 4 greens rings so far (lvl 73-77) :/

Thqruiz you lucky bastard... been at it for hours now, over 600 junkboxes if memory serves right. One green item, two blue gems but that's about it. Tonnes of gold and pots naturally but that's really not what I'm after. Good luck to all of you in the same position as I am.

Well farmed for five days now, over 300 boxes and nothing dropped (well besides 1k or so gold and 120 pots); still am not giving up though :). Anyway, I'm on Skullcrusher, character name Jóhny (the code for the "ó" is ALT+0243 ;p) so if anybody has this and does not need it, I'm paying 5000 gold for it, so just whisp me :). Thx in advance

Just checking in to see if the drop rate had changed or if it was removed from boxes altogether. I've had 2 drop in December/January (equipped one, sold the other for 2200) and also picked up https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=43613#comments:id=605362 which sold for much less (1500).

I am happy to see that someone had the drop recently... would hate to think the time spent on the Avalanche is a waste... although my guild loves that I can produce more runic healing pots than our alchemist in a short period of time.

If you're not the kind of person who likes to farm the junkboxes separately, I recommend that you lockpick every humanoid you encounter in WOTLK while leveling to 80 . That way you most likely will come across something desirable, like Krol Cleaver or The Dusk Blade, and make quite a lot of money as well.

For everyone whos trying to farm it via Pick Pocket theres a macro that i've written

Just run through the mobs at The Avalanche in Scholazar Basin and spam it or better bind it to your Mousewheel and Pickpocketing gets alot faster.

EDIT: dont forget to use the Pick Pocket Glyph

When picking locks. Do you notice the difference that when you pick them at lvl 70 they drop lower lvl poisons as at lvl 80?

The level you pick this box might effect the krol cleaver droprate.

For those of you looking for epics pickpocketing here is my experience:

If you go to your Achievement window, look at the Statistics tab (on the bottom) and go to the Character screen (Left Side Nav) under "Wealth" it will tel you the "Number of Items Pickpocketed". (Note: this is total "Items" pickpocketed, mobs that result in coin only do not count).

Here are a few of my personal stats:

I got my first epic (Spineslicer) when I had Pickpocketed 3312 items.
I got my second epic (Krol Cleaver) when I had Pickpocketed 5977 items.
I got my third epic (Spineslicer again) when I had Pickpocketed 13686 items. --quite a gap there. I had begun to think epics didn't drop anymore.

I have currently pickpocketed 15465 items. Still only the 3 epics.

just under 1k lockboxes in a little under a week of farming. I got pretty lucky judging from the numbers and accounts from others.

Just some questions on pick pocket farming.

1) Do you have to kill the mob after picking his pocket?

2)Considering the previous question, how much would the junkboxes/hour rate considering 40% chance.

3) would it be worth it to kill them (if you didn't have to kill them for their pockets to respawn) for the loot, trash and cloth?

1. No, you don't have to kill mobs. They're often killed as part of the Titan quest, and pockets actually refil after about 15 min anyway.

2. I think this will depend on how many mobs you're hitting/hr. I average about a box a minute some nights, others only 30-40 boxes/hr.

3. It's not worth it to kill. They have no loot after killing. They do however, drop Runic Healing Pots when pickpocketing, so depending on your server, you can sell a stack for 20-25g... I average about 4 stacks an hour... sometimes better, sometimes worse.

Mostly the challenge is to stay awake, lol. I've pulled several epics out of there. Kept one Krol Cleaver for myself and sold 2 others and a Dusk Blade. Of course, Now I can't get a thing, so the idea of farming it is a waste.

Got this last night with no prior knowledge that it even existed. Didn't do anything crazy, just dinged 76 so I grabbed five boxed out of my bank to get my 5 Lockpicking points.

It's on par with other Naxx (N) swords - and it's damn near the ugliest sword in the game imo. Looks like the giant scimitar from that 3 Stooges episode.

Won't complain though... free BOE sword. Good times.

I farmed these epic itens for a week, and gathered so much money with it that I could buy two Avool's Sword of Jin. I think this is an item to use when you are lucky to find one as a rogue or lucky to find it at the AH at a reasonable price.

Farm at the avalanche to gather money, and pehaps you´ll find one. I farmed a thousand boxes and got two greens and one blue gem.

They fixed the pick pocketing thing in Sholazar. For everyone who didn't know you could set-up a macro to multi-pick one guy, thus giving you x3 the drops from one guy. Well they fixed it as of 3.2.

I got it very to much lucky after like 200 picks just to level.. and yes it is simple desigen, and yes it is awsome they keep old stories alice by bring them back. for us who started in beta mode. we love old fashion wow.
Dont go farm for it thats just waste of time, most likely you get 5 k gold faster doing else.. but if you get it then just smile and feel lucky.. sidenote, i got it as lvl 73 pickpocket a 74 mob. with my rogue i had not touch since sunwell 5 months ago. Enjoy the game in YOUR way!

picked this up from a 350 junkbox, about 1000 junkboxes later, the dusk blade dropped. both nice. still getting some blue gems from junkboxes also but no where near the frequency from pre wotlk.

For lore purposes, the word Krol is a reference to an ogre named Krol who was a ogre guard captain, who allied with The Horde in the very early stages on their development while under the control of Kil'jaeden. He and those he commanded helped in the fall of Shattrath City

I just read that today in the book entitled "Rise of the Horde" by Christie Golden. I would recommend it to anyone interested in WoW lore or just in a good book nonetheless
