Is Frost resist going to be important for raids? Anyone on Beta that can confirm ? I think the Icecrown would be a great place for needed frost resist, if you think about the zone setting and the fact the Lich King will have some heavy frost attacks..this ring is going to be perfect, just add a +str, agi, or what ever your class needs into socket and WOW look at the stam !

This ring isn't really necessary for capping frost resistance. With the other three pieces and the FR aura, you hit the FR cap of 415:

BP: 115
Belt: 86
Boots: 86
Aura: 130
Total: 417

(I've used the plate pieces for this example, but the same thing applies to cloth, leather and mail).

In fact, you couldn't really substitute this ring for one of the other pieces without dropping below 417.

WOTLK has yet to implement a fight like Mother where you actually need Frost Resistance to complete the encounter at an entry level. Perhaps something more challenging will be implemented in the future that may require these pieces, but right now the frost-related fights are hardly a challenge to healers or the raid as a whole.

This ring does notably have more stamina potential than any other ring in the game. I use it as a feral druid tank just for the 124 stamina increase (100 + 24 stam gem) on my off-spec.

Frost DK with Acclimation and Frost Aura will need only this ring and crafted chest to be _almost_ capped.

Chest: 115, Ring: 68, FA: 80, Acc: 150 = 413

1-3 pieces of FR gear on each person in the 25 man version of Sapphiron will greatly reduce the amount of damage taken by the raid as a whole, even if you aren't fully capped. its not so much of a deal in the 10 man version though...especially with 3 healers.

i'm a healer and i think ill pick up two pieces total...should put me at like 290 with the pally aura...good enough.

is anyone going to mention the bears here? it's not much to most but that's 100*1.59 stamina in bear form not to mention the socket bonus and whatever gem, yes it has frost resist, no there's not many encounters warranting frost resist. but that's just a bonus as i see it.

As a feral druid tank, I use this to main tank Sartharion with three drakes up as, with a solid sky sapphire (+24 stam) or a solid dragon's eye (+41 stam, +9 stam socket bonus) I get 50-75 more stam, or about 600-800 more health than any of my heroics/10 man Naxx rings. I should be picking up one of the 84 stam 25-man rings out there, but this does a very good job of holding it's place because with this, the rest of frost resist gear, and the rest a mix of 10/25 man Naxx gear, and all 24/41 stam gems (+50 stam from mining) I can get well over 50k health without having the best gear in the game. Once I get the some of the better non-polar set pieces, like 7.5 chest, I will be able to replace the wasted gear points to be a little easier on my healers. Until then this will have to do for me to survive the heavy fire breath/the major loss of health debuffs from two of the drakes.

Since this ilvl 213 ring is readily available (mats can be farmed and easily bought on the AH), it can be used to complete the "Epic" achievement. This is rather useful for those of us that keep losing rolls in 25-man raids.

This is a fantastic ring for the new Hodir fight.
My guild just mass produced them and such, so we're all set on FR.
Instead of replace a higher level item slot like chest, belt or feet, replace a ring that's not quite endgame.

Many guilds that are starting to work on heroic hardmode Thorim require that all dps and healers equip themselves with one of these rings. It's a cheap investment (both in terms of stats lost and mats), and gives a good boost of frost resistance that greatly decreases the chance of getting gibbed by Sif's attacks.

A peculiar discovery can be made if you compare its HP with all the rings in the game after using an epic gem. It is the 2nd best in the entire game. (and I make this post after 3.2 is released)

Of course, no stats other than stamina may make it a tricky decision. However, it may not be spectacularly bad: e.g. going from 84 stamina with some avoidance to 130 stamina with no avoidance isn't that incredibly bad. Still though I wouldn't feel comfortable with it.
