A new set of daily cooking quests can be found in Dalaran. These start from the cooking trainer, in the inn within your faction's enclave in the city. One quest out from 5 different types will be available each day. Most quests require items to be gathered from within Dalaran, and combined with some cooked meat. At least one of these quests (Mustard Dogs) is not available at low level (74) or low skill (400).

Completing a Dalaran cooking daily quest gives 1 or 2 Dalaran Cooking Awards, plus a Small Spice Bag that contains a few Northern Spices and sometimes another Dalaran Cooking Award, spice, or recipe. Dalaran Cooking Awards are tokens that can be traded with the vendor stood near to the cooking trainer.

Recipes marked "Dalaran Cooking Award" above can be purchased using 3 Dalaran Cooking Awards.

Northern Spices can also be purchased for 1 Dalaran Cooking Award per stack of 10 spices. All the best buff foods require Northern Spices, which (currently) can only be purchased with Awards, and each individual can only gain a limited number of awards each day. In practice, this should restrict the number of times a raiding group can "wipe" (die) fully buffed, each week. It may also make the best buff food exceptionally valuable.

It is likely cooks will need to complete many daily quests just to reach level 450: The best trainable recipes (those for buff foods) "go green" (become unlikely to give a skill-up when cooking) at level 382, and are likely to "go grey" (never give a skill-up) by level 415-420: the final 30-35 points of cooking relies on recipes that require Dalaran Cooking Awards.

This or Rhinolicous Wyrmsteak is going to be THE tank food come WotLK. I would pay a hefty price for either of them, and I will always have a stack or 2 of them on me. Maybe even Dragonfin Filet if I have the bag space and the time to farm it up for myself.

But those 3 foods, tank food. All depends on the fight. And feed your tanks right, otherwise we get grouchy, and people die when we get grouchy.

Also a DPS food, agility is a DPS boost for all physical classes (moreso for Rogues, Hunters, Shamans and feral druids tho).

It should be noted that the agility provided will add 1.16% dodge and 0.64% critical strike chance for your average tank. It's more of an avoidance food, while Rhinolicious Wyrmsteak is more of a TPS boost mostly if you are at early tank-gear stages and find yourself getting parried and dodged too much of your attacks.

Furthermore, Dragonfin Filet is superior to Rhinolicious Wyrmsteak in terms of TPS, if you find your expertise levels are fine. It also adds 0.20% parry to a Death Knight.

Dragonfin Filet is superior for Paladins, the tank class that arguably gets the least from Agility. Good chance it's superior for warriors and DKs as well. Aside from the considerable TPS boost it adds 20 BV as well. Probably not for Druids though.

Strikes me as odd and maybe not intended that this food requires 2x Dragonfin Angelfish + 1x spice, while the 40 strength food - being the same "ilevel" so to speak, requires only 1x Dragonfin Angelfish + 1x spice. Basically means dps that uses agi instead of strenght, have to fish twice as much to gain the same amount of food.

i'm surprised no one has said this, this food gives 80 armor. i know not really a major difference but for the min/maxers out there this food is the best avoidance/mitagation food in the game at the moment.

"1.16%" dodge from this is inaccurate (posting as of 3.3).

You have to take into account diminishing returns on dodge - an item will be offering less dodge the more dodge rating you have currently equipped. I'll use level 80 Paladin, unbuffed and with 0 dodge rating as benchmark. Tested using a Protection Paladin, but talents, like Anticipation, don't affect DRs (nor does base agility - only the one on gear and buffs counts, along with defense and dodge ratings).

Agility will give more dodge than this for Druids (and Rogues), but less for Warriors and Death Knights. The crit you obtain from agility is also better for Paladins than for any other melee class. (For more details on all this, see the relevant and current Tankspot or EJ threads).

Blackened Dragonfin's 40 agility offers then 0.69% dodge.

However, in a proper raid you'll normally have BoK, which will turn it into a total of:

44 agility
0.76% dodge
0.84% crit
44 stamina
88 armor

More armor (like stamina) also has good related benefits for tanks, not just effective health but also damage and threat through talents.

So this makes it clear that you should want this food buff, whether you're looking for the highest avoidance in ICC or the best overall buff, if you can bring these to your raids (costly, but very effective as shown here).
