Enhancement Shamans would get more value out of this gem in most situations compared to any Blue quality Purple/Green gem.

The competition all have 12 Stamina, a nice stats that hardly matters when you don't gear or gem for it. So that leaves the variation of 8 Agility, 16 AP, 8 Crit Rating or 8 Hit Rating. While Hit Rating has taken a long jump ahead in importance, and Crit Rating applies to spells (important for Elemental Devastation), it is quite unlikely that they can beat this.

What you gain from the Tear is:

6 Strength = 6 AP
6 Agility = 6 AP + 0.072% melee crit
6 Intellect = 6 AP + 90 mana (going upwards depending on points in Acestral Knowledge)

And 6 Stamina and Spirit.

Regarding feral druids, I'd say the best way to use this gem is to put it in some piece which is you use both for bear tanking and kitty dps, ideally in some slot that does not offer a very specialized enchant for either role: chest, gloves, boots. That way you get a nice mix of stats that are reasonable for either role.

To give an example, think of something like Gloves of Fast Reactions, with this gem and a +20 agi (or +20 hit if you need) enchant... nice compromise item that serves well for any feral role.

For a non-jewelcrafting hunter this can be a viable way of achieving your meta socket requirements. In many cases, the socket bonus is not worth using a hybrid gem over a pure red gem (AP or Agi depending on spec). In the past many hunters used all red gems and two green gems for relentless earthstorm - since earthsiege only needs one green, you can instead use this gem over a green and use red gems in everything else. +6 all stats > crit/stam or haste/stam or int/stam.

It's really this simple, this is a gem for hybrids.

The hybrid classes use every stat, even spirit (although they rarely gain any special benefit from their spirit, increaced passive HP/Mana regeneration rates are nothing to sneeze at), the notable exception is *most* Druids, who almost universally seem to reject their supreme flexebility in their quest to replace "core" classes.

So with that in mind, Paladins, Shaman and also Hunters gain a great deal of use from +All Stat gems and enchants. Holy/Resto/Elemental builds often (wisely) focus entirely on Int and Stamina, but the combat specs make use of every stat. For Retribution Paladins and Enhancement Shaman, Strength and Stamina are very important, Agility is always good, Intellect is fairly valuable for the Spell Critical and mana reserves, and while Spirit does nothing special, it certinally dosen't hurt to have it, especially when it's a freebie like it is here.

So what you're getting is 12 very valuable stat points, and an additional 18 stat points that are moderately useful. Not bad for one socket. Not bad at all.

As said above, good for hybrids, not quite as good for other classes. However, this would still be useful for non-hybrid, non-jewelcrafters, as you could use one of these to fill a slot for the socket bonus or for meta requirements.

This isn't as good of a gem as most people think it is. Don't waste a good color on something you could use (Mages, don't you dare put this in a blue socket)

But, it can definitely be used as a filler. Rogues get very little choice when it comes to blue sockets, so as a rogue I would put this in a blue socket to fulfill my socket bonus and/or get a meta gem.

These do NOT count as every gem. If you have a Meta Gem that requires 1 Red, 1 Blue, 1 Yellow... this will NOT work. Just tried it out, and learned the hard way.

Correct, it doesn't count as all the gems at once BUT if you have one red and one blue, this would take the place of the yellow for a meta requirement. Or if you had one blue and one yellow, this would take the place of the red. Think of it not as a rainbow that covers everything (with regards to meta gems etc) but more like water, it flows into an empty container and fills it, when the container changes, so does it.

When it says "Maximum of one socketed in your equipment" does that mean only one in your gloves and only one in your boots, etc. Or does it mean only one per person?

As a druid this in the blue socket for Leggaurds of the Honored nets me ~30 ap and .16 crit compared to a 8str 12 stams ~24 ap and .08 crit

I don't trust the earlier mentioned rating from http://pawnmod.trenchrats.com/viewtopic.php?t=626. Any rating is calculated considering the following factors:

Your class and talents.
Your current stats and equipment.
Your tactics. Which skills you plan on using, how and when.
The target (raid boss, another player, etc). All the same things must be known for the target: class, talents, stats, equipment, tactics. For example, if the target is a frost mage then Frost Resistance whould have very high rating.

For the mentioned rating, we know only one thing: it's calculated for Bear form.

Also, if I understand it correctly, 1000 armor is rated the same as 1000*6.96/8.35 = 833 Agility. Funny.

... Paladins get 0 mana regen in combat from spirit. It is the most useless stat for a Holy paladin aside from strength and Agility.

Mp5 is the only true way to regen mana without the sue of specialty spells. Period.

With a gem this godly, of course blizz had to put a limit on it.
The real limit isn't the fact you can only have one, rather, the level you can acquire it.
At 60, belt buckles work for the slot.
Prior to that, there are absolutely NO socketed items under 60, unless by some far chance I've missed some.

So this gem says it gives to "ALL STATS" however it does not add to Expertise, it adds to hit so why not Expertise?
