This describes what Pygmy Oil does (and the fish you need to make it). If you drink enough Pygmy Oil, you become a Pygmy. This is alters visual appearance, voice and emotes, but with no immunities or obvious combat benefits (aside from size) we could find. Yet.

Noggenfogger shrink effect works when I use it and switch into kitty or bear. All shapeshifting removes is polymorph and movement imparing effects.

All it really does guys is makes you in to a gnome with a voodoo mask on. With each one you drink you shrink a little bit. After 5 you shrink in to a gnome.

This fish is used by Alchemists to make Pygmy Oil. Each fish makes 1-2 oils. Drinking Pygmy Oil makes you a little smaller for 10 minutes. After drinking 6-10 oils in a row, you gain a buff described as "Pygmified!", which turns you into - you guessed it - a Pygmy for 10 minutes! The buff currently changes appearance, voice and emotes: You become just like a gnome. There are no obvious combat benefits yet, such as immunity to polymorph. For Druids, shapeshifting removes the Pygmified buff (thanks zolani). This may become an alternative to cooked Deviate Fish (Pygmy Suckerfish are probably easier to catch).

Drinking Pygmy Oil does indeed make you smaller, but not really small - at least not if you stop at one. Each oil you drink will make you incrementally smaller. This skrinkage lasts for 10 minutes.

Drink a number of Pymgy Oils, and you turned into a Pygmy! This is basically a gnome with the old witchdoctor style mask. The number of oils required to drink for this buff varies, but it usually 8-10. Pygmification last for 10 minutes. You are able to mount while pygmified, unlike many shapeshifting buffs.

Pygmy Oil is also a reagent in a number of alchemist made items, including flasks and an alchemists stone.

Pygmy oil is made by alchemists, who create 1-2 oils per Pygmy Suckerfish. Most if not all alchemists should be able to create these oils, as it's trained early in Northrend.

Pygmy Suckerfish are freshwater parasites, and are sometimes found attached to fish caught in open inland water in Northrend (except in Dalaran).

Decided to get some of these pygmy suckerfish and make some of these Oils to see what it did. When I read about it before WotLK came out officially I thought it was going to make you smaller like the noggenfogger did. But, of course to my disappointment it doesn't. However, to make up for the loss of smallness you get turned into a pygmy. Which, from the screen shot I uploaded of the Female Pygmy, its not a bad effect, but not totally worth dropping noggenfogger for. Unless you're a gnome lover. :) Nice to give Alchemists something fun, the mad alchemist potion was nice and all, but us alchemists want stuff to play with too!

Haven't tested this on a gnome yet, but it may just leave you a gnome and change your appearance to the pygmy outfit.

Minor correction:

It is true that the fish is caught "attached" to another fish.

However, it can be caught in saltwater as well as fresh. So, pretty much anywhere you can fish.

Though I do not know if you can fish one in the Dalaran fountain.

The worst part about this item, other than that alchemists now have to fish their materials up instead of herbing them, is that it doesn't fit in an herb bag. If you want to stockpile these for making flasks, you'll have to waste your regular bag space.

I've actually found that making the oils, at least on my server, is a really good money maker. I usually buy 2 stacks of the fish and get around 3-4 stacks of the oil. Since the Oil sells for about the same price as the fish, I end up making my money back and then some. Of course I keep a stack for flasks.

Also, I love the /dance the Pygmy does. It's so... erotic at times. Not sure if that's the female gnome dance or not though.

Noggenfogger does work when shapeshifting to kitty or bear, but you have to drink around ten of them to get the right effect.

These are an alchemist's best consistent source of money.

On most servers I've seen - the Suckerfish sell for roughly the same as the Oil, but you get 2 oils per fish 90% of the time.

This is a much better ratio for profit than any elixir you can make.

I think the "Pygmy" effect may in fact have a reference to the WoW Machinima series: "Snacky's Journal"... I believe it was in the third episode that Snacky and Angie went to a Fishing Contest in Booty Bay and ended up being captured by a group of "Pygmy Gnomes" which all had witchdoctor garbs on, although that is just my opinion. Haha.

It's more likely a reference to real pygmies, which are members of human groups (tribes) whose adult males are less than 150cm tall. Given that gnomes are characterized by their height, its only natural they be considered pygmies in World of Warcraft.

This actually changes your "gender" opposite to what you currently are. So after turning into a gnome with this oil as a male, using a Savory Deviate Delight or Orb of the Sin'dorei will turn into the female version. You turn back into your original gender after the costume fades though.

This does stack with Noggenfogger, yes - but drink the Noggenfoggers and get the "small" buff first, since if you drink Pygmy Oils first, Noggenfogger might replace your "Pygmy costume" with the dull skeleton form.
I tried to eat a Small Feast after I had turned small from Noggenfogger Elixir and turned into a gnome from Pygmy Oil but even though the feast buff doesn't replace your Noggenfogger buff, it still doesn't make you any smaller.

But with Noggenfogger and Pygmy buff you're still pretty damn small!

Making this an alchemist can be a great income of gold, I usually buy 2 stacks of fish ( rougly 2-3g/stack).
And then procced to turnit into oil getting about 3 stacks oil from 2 stacks of fish and can then sell this for about 20g/stack.
Netting a profit of 54g.

This of course varies from server to server, but you could probaly sqeueeze in a profit with higher fish prices and lower oil prices =)

If you're trying to screw around and shrink yourself for the lulz and you're a gnome to start with, this stuff is a depressing waste of money. The percentage scaling is so minute, it's virtually unnoticeable until you've drank 5 or 6. And when you hit the point of turning into a pygmy, you actually grow back to your normal height and gain the mask. /target Blizzard; /facepalm.

So if you're a gnome, stick to other proven options.

I role a female Draenei, and I've found that if I use this in Culling of Strath, after the pygmy buff wears out or is removed, I transform into a human male. As if the insult of being turned into a female human wasn't enough.

If you're leveling alchemy, making this is almost a free 15 points. Stacks of the fish go for less than a gold on my server so I bought them and made these until they were grey. 15 points for roughly 2 gold.

In the Gormokk the Impaler encounter, if transformed into a Pygmy the Snobolds won't stay on your back but actually start running around. This may be a way to get Upper Back Pain (10 player) (or Upper Back Pain (25 player)), assuming when the tanks picks them up the Snobolds don't die from AoE.

Also, gaining and removing the Pygmy Oil buff while having the Human Illusion buff from CoT1 and CoT3 will turn you into a Human of the opposite sex.
