I find these to be great whit my Shadow priest if i do these and my trinket during a boss fight and cast Shadow word pain it ticks for alot and since SWP refresh every time you do Mind Flay u get a 200 bonus spell damage to shadow word pain the entire fight and that is some extra damage for a 3-4 min long fight.

At first, I thought this item was utterly useless on my frost death knight (74 at the time of posting), but then it occurred to me: What if I were to use this in conjunction with Anti-Magic Shell when anticipating a magical attack? Would I generate more runic power by being vulnerable and thus taking more magic damage? I gave it a try a few times in dueling a guildie mage (level 80).

Without the seed, I was getting 14-17 runic power from his Frostbolts and/or Frostfire Bolts.

With the seed, the runic power increase ranged from 14-19.

Now, to me that does not seem like a very significant increase (if there is one at all, I may have just been lucky with that 19, it happened only once), but there are other factors. First, I tried this only two or three times each. Second, I have Frost Aura (1 to all resistances per level; in this case, 74 to all resistances). I know it's been said that the seed reduces your resistances, but the numbers on my character sheet didn't change at all upon use. It may just be a bug. If my resistances were indeed unchanged by the seed, the mitigation from that could have been interfering.

I'll see if I can gather up a greater number of seeds and investigate this further sometime in the future.

Something for you warrior herbalists to consider also: could you spell-reflect a target for greater damage with this?

Not working as of 12/06/08.
Can check your Character Screen, no change and also tested with Shadow Word: Pain by applying, popping and trying to reapply over to no avail.
Confirmed by GM then that it doesn't work.

with items like this - prenerf - the profession probably would change to be overpowered

Fire Seed is being changed to a gray item, its effect has been removed with the up-coming patch.

The reasons why Blizzard did this is because the herb yield favors the class, meaning if you can wear plate you will most likely get the fire leaf (~80%) while clothies will most likely get the fire seed (~80%)

It appears farming Fire Seeds was removed in patch 3.0.8. I spent around half an hour farming Scalding Pools and got only . This will make it easier for all alchemists/herbalists to obtain mats for or but will probably make the flask price drop a little on auction houses.
