the reason these are so pricy is because they are needed for a quest in one of the starting areas. so this is an opertune moment for engineers to make a quick bit of cash. its acase of supply and demand. its in big demand so if the supply is low, the price goes up.
the price will settle down in a week or 2.

I would like to personally thank blizzard for throwing engineers a bone like this. Thanks to them I now have generated enough money for my 3-person Tundra mammoth in a few short days. I simply couldn't keep them in stock, even at 100g.

If you are an engineer, make and keep at least 4 of these while leveling up. You'll need it for your trinket. You'll need two if you can make use of both AP and SP. (Or you are a caster who just wants 81 stamina)

Horde got shafted on these... All these people raving about the amount of money they've made on selling these have to be Alliance...

Horde has only the Engineering quest that this requires, and as the average Engineer can easily make these (and the mats are as common as mud by the time you get the quest), there's little call for them to buy so don't go by the 20g average buyout if a Horde player...

On a side note, these not selling on Horde AH's would likely explain the massive difference between amounts people are quoting here (80g+) and the recommended buyout that WoWHead has posted of 20g, being that it's an average...

I made a comment a while back about how Horde got shafted here and CANNOT make money on this... I dunno why people felt the need to downrate it into oblivion, other than immaturity and the neive hope that the prices on this will remain inflated for Alliance... Blizz aint gonna change things simply because of what is posted here...

Truth is, the price listed here is the Alliance AH only... Horde Engineers cannot even sell these for the cost of mats, just a heads up to any Horde player who tries to make money off these... The Alliance have a quest to hand these in available to all Alliance players, the shared quest is Engineers only... Considering the ease of obtaining the mats and crafting these, you can't even sell them to other Engineers...

I can make these, but on my realm, they don't sell for much. I mine the mats, so it's free cost, but just the other day I sold two for only 2g each, and that was a full 24 hour bid... no buyout. And my buyout price was lower than most of the starting bids for the other auctions.

Perhaps there aren't many people doing the related quest anymore. I even tried to pimp some in Fizzcrank Airstrip, with not even an ounce of interest.

I've salvaged a ton of these from XT-002 Deconstructor and Flame Leviathan in Ulduar and I have nothing to use them on. The most annoying thing is they stack only 5 at a time so they're taking up a ton of space in my inventory.

Although I have engineers in my guild than can help me with this, I can understand why some charge what they do to make a little money. Afterall they are gouged by non-engineers with ridiculous prices for recipes, and this goes across other professions suffering that dilemna, add their time and effort to get to the level to make this item et cetera. So when you stop selling weapons, armor, recipes, food, and other mats for ridiculous prices, then and only then will you have a right to complain about someone else's pricing.

I cant understand why Blizzard has put this in! Couldn't they see that the price would skyrocket rediculously? These are now regularly going for 150G on the AH! It's a licence to print money for engineers and everyone else misses out on a quest line unless we cough up.

It's not even as if the reward at the end is much good! I don't think they thought this one through!

4 cobalt bars and a single Crystalized Earth. Either have an engineer guildy make it for you or tip an engy with your own mats. Of course its going to cost if you buy it outright, but if you get the mats yourself you'll be much better off....

I got very lucky... I got an overcharged capacitor for 14g. I couldn't believe it....... As far as greed goes, everyone has something to extort everyone else with.... It seems to me that this game was designed with co-operation in mind, for example,
a hunter/blacksmith might trade a sword or dagger to a leather worker/rogue for a cloak or an addition to his leather armor...
etc. Instead, we take capitalism to a whole new level! Blizzard's gotta be lovin it, cause the more expensive items become, the more likely people will be to buy gold instead of earn it. There is a cottage industry created by farming gold! rofl. We gouge each other for everything. It also amazes me that people could get so upset over a game. Why not just take 1 night a week and help some jr. players achieve their goals.....and remember its JUST a game folks...an entertainment, so relax and enjoy.... if you can't enjoy it ... give it up.
