Just for reference...statistical distributions are great, but after milling literally thousands of herbs (I monopolize glyphs on my server) the numbers are abundantly clear.

Milling a stack of Adder's, Icethorn, or Lichbloom nets 6 Ink of the Sea and 2 Snowfall Ink.
Milling a stack of any other Northrend herb nets 5 Ink of the Sea and 1 Snowfall Ink.

If Grays numbers are correct, it would seem to me that you would want to mill the lower levels of herbs.

If we think of X10 as X1 (as it can be traded through the ink trader in dalaran) then we can simplify both items into one variable.

Based off the average, ten stacks of , , or will give you X60 and X20, or simplified as X26.

After observing my server for about 2 months I've found that and both sell for near 70s to 1g on the average day. So 10 Stacks, or 200 herbs, has a value of 133-190g were you to sell it on the AH instead of milling it, given the 5% AH cut.

Maximum Value =190g/10stacks = 19g Per stack at its highest
Average = 161.5g/10stacks = 16.15g per stack on average
Minimum Value = 133g/10stacks = 13.3g per stack at minimum

Once again, based off the average Grays has presented us if we were to mill 10 stacks of or we would get X50 and X10, or a total of X15

During the same period of time I watched the and , I found I could purchase and for 15s-30s in abundance, before running into sellers with higher demands. Buying a full 10 stacks costs me 30g- 60g. With an average of 45g.

Given that once I begin buying I buy anything under 31s and much of it is as low as 15s we'll give a hard number value to the lesser herb stacks of 4.5 per stack.

So if the minimum I make from selling 1 stack of higher herbs is 13.3g I can use that same money to buy almost 3 whole stacks of lesser herbs at 4.5g a stack.

With three times the herbs Im able to mill 30 stacks of lesser herbs for a total of X 45, given that we determined that 10 stacks was worth 15 earlier.

So in conclusion for the same number value.
Lesser Herb = 45 Ink
Greater Herbs = 26 Ink

I seem to have rambled on, but what I'm trying to say and if you only take one thing from this it's to continue to gather from the higher level herbs, turn around and sell them to make money to buy cheeper herbs then profit off your glyphs.

If someone would like to post the probability drops of off higher level herbs that would be even more profit from focusing on gathering from them.

This is of course if you do your own Herbalism, if you're buying the stacks of the higher herbs off the AH the number spreads even further apart as I wrote a 5% value reduction into the equation because of the money you lose selling your herbs on the AH.

1000x Tiger Lily milled into 59 Icy Pigment and 507 Azure Pigment.
