If you get this item, just delete it. Though you might go and kill the mob and place the flag, there is no quest for this item. I had the GM research if there was a quest and after 10 minutes, he found that there is no quest for this item. You may delete it, you get no reward/rep/gold/xp for completing this items requested action.

It seems the quest says that you need this banner to spawn the Hand of Kargath, but when we got there the guy was already there. We killed him 3 times (one head drop for each party member) and he kept spawning without the need to plant this banner. So like the post above says, just delete it.

Keep it while you have the quest. Occasionally, Hand of Kargath isnt spawned and you'll need to kill Gorrax and drop this to spawn him.

Just did it today after two unsuccessful attempts yesterday, both times we needed to spawn him with the item. Twice yesterday, actually, since we wiped one time (rogue+rogue+warlock didn't work out as nicely as we had hoped) and were ganked the second time. It might be that the quest has been fixed as I've seen The Hand around a couple of times while leveling other (alliance) characters, with no hordies nearby to summon him.

It also doesn't disappear after you complete the quest, I had this in my bag for 5 levels, after getting pretty fed up with it and wondering what it was for, I had a look here.

The quest is bugged, but works to our benefit...killing Force Commander Gorax is not necessary to complete the quest!

keep the flag until you turn-in the quest, just in case they fix it. LOL

Does someone have the coords of this guy? I have the banner, but I don't recall when or where I picked up the quest and I no longer have it in my logboog. *shrugs

The banner, it is needed to spawn the mob. If someone was here before you and failed, the mob will be already spawned. If you are in group, only one person needs to plant the banner, so others will keep theirs. You can freely dump the banner if this is the case. Or just spawn him again for fun while on the quest
