If you don't get what you want the first time, DO NOT loot the box and wait 2 hrs, every chest resets after 1-2 hrs, you will get what you want eventually.

i think Athendial is right on the page for chest someone says that since a patch this dont work anymore i think it stacks with this to... and i know what u mean i've been trying the same as Athendial with no luck after my meaning stop try get the other tabard wont work.) :(

I personally like this one better than the purple one, but the green swirls don't seem to stand out as much as they do on the purple.

I have the quest, but I can't find anyone else who wants to do it. Bah. :P Such a cool tabard.

I've lost my Green Trophy Tabard of the Illidari.
I've lost my Purple Trophy Tabard of the Illidari.

Bingo.

I've just submitted a screenshot of the dialogue box with the tabard restoration options on Lyesa Steelbrow's page, it's still waiting for approval."

If you have not done the quest yet or have not looted the Offering of Sha'tar you can get both!
I did the quest a while back and never took the green tabard out of the box (I was ^&*!y i didn't get purple >:P). Then yesterday I went to the tabard vendor in Dalaran to try to buy some of the new factions tabards (you can't there) and there were both options to get either the green or purple tabard if you've "lost" them. Clicked the one for purple, got it, ran to bank, opened box and got the green one too! :D

I did the quest to get this tabard on my paladin and I never got a tabard for her :\ the box just gave me junk and a lil bit of money.
Will going to the Dalaran TAbard vendor give me the option to get one?

I just did this today with my friend. 5/3/2009
While AUTO-LOOT off, I viewed my tabard, it was the Green Tabard. Went to SW Visitor's Center, Clicked on Rebecca and in the first trade screen that pops up you get the choice to choose:

Ive lost my Purple Trophy of the Illidari, or
Ive lost my Green Trophy of the Illidari

I chose the Purple Tabard from Rebecca since the green was still UN-LOOTED in its container in my bag. As soon as Rebecca gave me the purple tabard I then looted the green from my bag.

Woot! two tabards ^_^

Just to clarify, you do not nescesarily have to use the bug to get both tabards in your inventory to get the shortcut towards the tabard achievement. When I did this quest I just took the tabard in my eagerness, though I've often switched the color through the tabard vendor .. I got the 10 unigue tabard achivement, though I know for sure I've only ever owned 9, which means that when ever you choose to switch the color of the tabard, you get an extra tabard for your achievement.

EDIT:
Just checked again yesterday.. Went to my DK so he could get the tabard as well. Just looted it from the Offering as it was ment for, though this time I had my 10 unique tabard achievement on track. Got my 5th tabard when I looted from the offering then went straight to the SW visitor center to swap to the other tabard and still true it works and my tabard count went to its 6th.

I just did this as an 80 Combat rogue with a shaman, and finished the quest no problem, AND have confirmed that as long as you have Auto-loot off when you open the chest from the quest reward and see which one you have, you CAN in fact goto any tabard vendor and claim that you have lost yours... For the Tabard acheivment you can actually leave the one you have in the chest and get the other allowing you to have both.

I deleted my Purple Trophy Tabard of the Illidari today to obtain the Green one instead.
To make sure the Green (or the purple) counted for my achievement, I had to EQUIP it. All Tabard achievements clearly state that you have the EQUIP the tabards, otherwise they do not count.

I can also confirm that you can repeat the deletion of one tabard to retrieve the other as of patch 3.3.3.

You can DESTROY either tabard and go to Dalaran Visitor Center and get the same or the other tabard from the Tabard Vendor.

This was done on HORDE side, as I see most of the info on here is for the Stormwind tabard vendor.

It works in Dalaran for Horde.

This comes as a reward from this quest:

Battle of the Crimson Watch

It's aquired by getting The Journal of Val'zareq from Val'zareq in SMV.

It's a 4-5man battle, 4 waves. Not terribly difficult.

As a note, you don't get to choose if you get the green or purple tabbard, it's random which tabbard comes from the reward box you get.

did it with 4 lvl 70 and 1x 69. Not that hard tbh.
the event is 3 waves with mobs, followed by a boss. you can regen between the waves (drink/eat).

1st wave is 7ish lvl 59-60 elites. (with low hp)

2nd wave is 2 eye's that do heavy spell dmg. they you can easily interrup their draining spells as they are stunnable/kickable etc.

3rd wave is 4x 70 elites wich it HARD! and gives you a curse (+50%fire dmg). You'll better decurse that cause the fireblast they'll create will hurt.

4th wave is a boss, thas pretty much tank and kill.

so if you get pass the 3 first mob waves you're moust likely succeed.

A well-organized group can do this with 4 or 5 people. For the poorly-organized pug, it took 8 of us to complete...doing it 3 times so everybody eventually got credit.

I did this quest easy but we were 5 lvl 70s and 4 lvl 70's outside te group, btw can you only get one of the tbards ? is there no other way of getting the other

Alright so i found a really cool way to get the tabard u want REGARDLESS of the one you orignially see in the box. When u complete the quest and get the box simply right click it to see what u got inside DO NOT loot yet. Say theres a Purple tabard but u wanted a green one. Just look inside without looking. then log out-log back in and look inside. if its still not the color u want keep repeating until it does. This is a bug that can be done by server resets etc. Good luck and have a great time with your new awesoem tabard = )

Just did this quest with 3 lvl 70's. Prot warrior (self), arms/fury warrior, shadow priest healing.

We wiped twice before we figured out how to set up for the third wave. Really was pretty easy, just spam thunderclap and make sure tank has aggro entire fight. For the third wave spam thunderclap and mark a target for the dps to stick on. Last boss is super-easy compared the rest.

I really find it funny that some people took more than a 5man to do this, considering how easy it really was. Crappy rewards though. Feels like the rings are missing a stat or something.

Uhm, is it just me or does it really say: A trophy commemorating a victory over Illidan Stormrage ?
What´s the meaning of this if you don´t need to go in a raid and take down Illidan to get it?
I mean, it´s cool and all but still. It´s kinda weird. Dont you guys agree?

Just got mine a couple minutes ago. The event itself wasn't that hard...except some ugly warlock kept pulling the guards over to us and he managed to wipe us one time. But other than that it went pretty smooth. Got this cool green tabard and a nice healing ring + 24 gold! Pretty good for a half hour's work. =P

As long as everyone plays their role right, this quest is a cinch. One tip though is to pull the quest giver (Guy that drops book) when he is at the end of his patrol line. There are fewer guards around there, so all you'll have to deal with is him and his 4 adds.

Did this quest yesterday with 2 men, me as a warrior with season 3 arena gear and a 2 hand and a paladin with similar gear, was pretty easy IMO .

this was really easy to get took my group only bout 15-30 mins to complete it first try.
You have to be well organized because things can get a lil complicated once the waves start to come.

1st wave we just aoe
2nd we just split up and killed the floating eyes
3rd is around 4 elites just gotta be organized to beat em
4th was the main guy you kill for the quest hes really simple to be so dont worry about him as much

It took me so damn long to get a group for this quest so my advice to anyone wanting it is don't give up just keep asking around in all channels.

I got the green tabard in the end which is the one i wanted because i noticed its the one worn by captain skyshatter and some other big cheese at netherwing ledge...Green one is the best IMO!

Both these tabards are ugly as sin, but I wear mine for what it represents: A pretty difficult quest chain that many people skip.

If you don't get the tabard you want from the box just wait a while before you re-open the box. It changes.
