This helmet must be best TBC tanking head,our MT got it and he never wants to change it, he has got tier 5 head and he uses this instead of the tier 5 helmet....unbeliveble

2% to dodge right off the bat. (.4% to dodge just from defense rating) Best tanking helm in game. Total stats (w/ Solid Star of Elune and 2x Enduring Talasites)

72 stamina (75.6 stamina with Warrior talents. 76.3 stamina to pally tanks)
33 defense rating (+0.52 to miss/dodge/parry/block)
32 dodge rating (+1.69 to dodge)

A total of 3.25 raw evasion and .52 block.

Even without the sockets the stats are pretty awesome. Put some epic defense gems in the sockets and you have the best tanking helm ingame. Though warrior threat generation is poorly implemented right now at least there are some great items out there for when warriors finally get fixed.

It takes 20 Str to get 1 point of shield block. Let's say that the sockets and socket bonus were removed and replaced with 50 Str. We now have 2.5 less damage from blocked attacks and an extra 100 AP.....which does very little for a warrior's ability to tank considering how a warrior generates threat through non-scaling modifiers rather than damage. It's more important to pick up more Stam, D. Rating, and P. Rating. Just my opinion though (you could always throw Str gems on there as well >_<)

thats 19rage for both + defiance
no defiance + 15rage sunder ftl
prot spec is wicked for holding aggro

and some guy saying some babbling $%^& about dodge parry gems being useless, dodge and parry ftw imo stam is heaps important but y'know mitigation ftw.

atm i have 22.4% dodge unbuffed 527 defense
and 18.7% parry i like this amount of mitigation unbuffed.

all the qqing about who knows how to tank best is bull!@#$ get over yourselves anyone can tank its not hard. and whatever u max out in as long as u dont sacrifice too much in any stat is good it all works.

Madere if deltronfetus has 527 defence as he says he has, dont you think hes surporting it with ALOT of hit points? Avoidance is Migation to a certain extend, where you'd rather avoid a blow then just let it take away a fraction of your never ending health, i believe Good warriors such as i believe deltronfetus is, know how to balance his stat and need no person who cant even tell us why his specc on armoury is Arms/fury when he claims to be Mt of whatever guild on his server, to tell him how he should play his char.

parry and dodge are so great but for me i do a balance of that all i keep tryin to reacha minimum of 25 % block so with shield block i reach 100% but i better love stuff with some dodge and parry than pure defense and i love to have higher stam but with my 12275 life unbuff i reach more than 17k full buff my guild is still in karazan and i have 21 % dodge and 17.5 parry plus the miss boss do imaginate that 45 % of the strike i get are fully mitigated i help a lot healer to keep mana if they are not just spamming heal like ass like (/cast heal infinatly) if they know to heal they will prolly heal cancel if you are full

some will say me sta armor best since you generate more threat cauz you get hit harder ok yep i will have more rage gen but i already have no problem getting it with the fireguard it tank really good i usually finish a boss with 2 time what the first dps have
the scallin in aggro is the scallin of your weap

and if your wanna focus sta armor go roll a druid lol they get way more sta way more life but they get more dmg since they cant parry or block they get more crushin blow too that is x1.5 dmg on a 2k attack its not that much but on gruul and stuff like that it will be annihilating

without tiered gear this is a very good substitute tank helm. one of the better things about it being the dodge imo. with the standard progression into t5 raiding i personally found myself picking up a lot of gear with +block and losing dodge for it. if like me the t4 helm refuses to drop and you arent at the stage of accessing t5 then this is a very nice upgrade from the fugly eternium greathelm.

I'm just throwin this out there.. I do not play a tank in anyway or form I have a level 10 druid if thats considered a tank and its resto.. my main is a 70 Horde rogue on Ysera.. but ANYWAY!

From my observations and research the best tanks have the following stats..

28-30% Dodge
18-20% Parry
30% Block

Accomplish these stats even with 12k HP you can do Gruul's... Simple enough..

though the tanks in my guild are sitting on these stats AND 22k HP buffed.. Still working on Constantly downing Gruul' Sadly..

But I would say stack (If there is any kind) some sort of Dodge/stam or Block/stam gems on this helm..
