Just compared these with Tier5 healing gloves. If you socket these with +4Int 2/5 (yellow) and 3/5 or 9heal 2/5 (blue) it comes out like this.

These will have 5 more Int, 4 more crit, and 11 or 20 more heal (depending on blue gem choice)

Tier 5 will have 6 more Stam, and 4/5 or 5/5 mana more (depending on blue gem choice) and one piece towards the set bonuses.

So it's pretty much a wash IMO (maybe a little bit leaning to tier5). If you will be competing with shamans and rogues for tier5 gloves for awhile and these drop, might as well spend dkp on um and wait till BT upgrade ;)

The best way to use these gloves is to use them in conjunction with 4 pieces of Tier 6, since the T6 gloves are pure junk. Throw in a Gleaming Lionseye/Dawnstone and a Royal Shadowong Amethyst/Nightseye and you're good to go.

Puntos is absolutely right, Spell Crit is the best method of mana regeneration for a paladin, even after the Illumination nerf.

I'm sorry, but these gloves are far from being best in game. Tier 6 gloves are much, much better. 12 mp/5 outpaces the crit on these gloves (even counting regen via illumination), and you gain 1 yellow socket which is certainly nice, but doesn't make up for the regen loss.

Additionally, the 4pc Lightbringer Raiment bonus is very, very good, and the best 4 pieces of the set are Chest, Shoulders, Gloves, Legs. The helm is garbage compared to tier 5, so wearing those 4 pieces + Crystalforge helm is your ideal setup. These gloves shouldn't be anywhere near your ideal set. Sorry!

I got these on our final Vashj kill for vialling about a month or so back, and can honestly say I doubt I would replace them with the T6 gloves *except* for if I needed those to get the 2 pc T6 bonus of +5% Holy Light crit.

Coming into BT we're already starting to see a lot of crit available on gear, lots of yellow gem sockets, and readily available epic gems to put into those. You combine the best crit gear you can get with +8/10 crit gems where available, the right talents, and the 2pc T6 bonus, and raid buffed you get ~50% Holy Light crit, compared to 39% FoL crit. You won't get anywhere near a 50% crit rate if you focus too heavily on mp5 (personally, I use +spell crit and +heal/+mp5 gems almost exclusively, focusing on the crit gems if I'm not going for a meta gem or socket bonus).

In the end though, to each their own. I'm sure heavily mp5 focused pallies will do pretty well, just as crit heavy and balanced ones will also. The reason I've started going crit heavy is that I know I can use varying ranks of HL to heal the tank as needed, minimise too much overheal this way, keep Light's Grace up, get good mana regen due to the enormous crit rate... AND be ready to cast a 2 second full rank HL at a moment's notice, with a (when full geared) 1 in 2 chance to crit, thus healing for ~8k on a BoL tank that only costs about 350 mana after refund.

If you are lucky enough to win these gloves, they are the best until Sunwell.

Use 10 crit and 11 healing/2mp5 gems are you are good to go for a long time.

Note that if you needed more mp5 or another Tier 6 piece for the bonus, the T6 gloves surpass this.
