This is a very nice set of chest armour. It's an excellent alternative for Warriors who don't wish to finish the Fire Hardened Mail quest. For blacksmiths, it's pretty hard to get alot of profit out of these; they sell at the AH for around 10G and the materials can be hard to obtain for some of the lower level people.

I am not too sure how this would fair as a level 29 twink item, but it's a very good piece of armour nonetheless.

A very good chest, both for warriors that dont bother doing the quest for their chest or for paladins.
The price for this mostly go up for the Iridescent Pearls (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=5500), which usually sells for 1g/each, so if you can find two yourself it's much cheaper. The murlocs south of Menethil Harbor usually drops these in clams.

Anyway it is worth the price as this will follow you high into the 30ish, or until you get a Green Iron Armor (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=3844#00z)

I equipped this piece of armor at lvl 24 and have found nothing yet that would be suitable to replace it. I have talked to others almost 10 levels above that who are wanting one. This is a solid piece of armor, and although the mats are hard to come by I think that it is worth it.

If you are mining but not blacksmithing it is not that hard to pick up the mats and find a blacksmith to make this for you. I wanted this for my paly but didn't want to pay 15g for it in the AH. Since I am mining and jewel crafting, I picked up the mats myself. The hardest ones to get are the pearls. I found one in the giant clams in BFD but got lazy and bought the other one in the AH. I also bought the lesser moonstones from the AH. After I tipped the blacksmith, I only ended up paying 4g for this chestpiece.

Iridescent Pearls were going for 5g each on my server, except for one guy who was selling 4 for 5g (probably made a mistake and didn't split the stack. xD). Bought the 4, and figured I could sell the other two at high profit, or make another Breastplate for a friend.

Speaking of which, for Pallies, this is probably the best thing you'll have in your 30's with exception to Avenger's Armor. But Blacksmiths are much easier to find than the Avenger's Armor droprate. Many would probably be willing to make you the armor for almost nothing if you offer them the mats for it, or find a friend to make it for you.

Highly recommended. Would buy again. (Only cost about 8g total, and I got 2 iridescent pearls, too)

I have gotten the pearls from the Murlocs in the Wetlands and Southshore. I disenchanted this when I got a better chest piece and got a large glimmering shard (nice). Have not sold any of these at AH but would recommend just looking to see what they are going for and go from there.

The Shining Silver Breastplate is arguably one of the very best low/mid-level sets of mail chest armor you can get. As a warrior I was wearing this until I hit level 31 and switched it out for the Green Iron Hauberk.

Compared to most of the rest of the lowbie armor sets this breastplate is also quite pretty, and goes well with anything from the Silvered Bronze armor set.

Unfortunately, if you can't make this yourself you should expect it to be the first really expensive purchase in your character's life. The gems needed to make this really drive the price up. If you find one on sale for less than 3g, count yourself lucky, because it's being given away.

This is a great piece of mail for any warrior. You really only need 2 chest pieces from 24 to 40 and plate - this and the Green Iron piece. I'm not such a fan of the rest of the green iron set, but the breastplate is incredible. This thing will last you just fine until 31 when you should definately invest in that.
As always, try to find a blacksmith to make it for you, possibly even provide some mats, it'll save you a bundle.

For some reason though, the Shining Silver breastplate sells for 4-5g?

I've given up on making the item since there's really no money in it.. The Green Iron piece on the other hand...

If your a warrior then Fire Hardened Hauberk is the best but its extremely hard to get and only slightly better(because of the rage and a bit more armor, less strength though)

That one is definitely a twink item, according to me. Lvl 24 rare? and have some good stats so any warrior twinks would like to use that one if they have no better, and ask the mates who sell it for 4 g. You see the mats so IT IS VERY REASONABLE PRICE for that. Those gems never drop!

I've been working up my blacksmith skill on my shammy, and these are great to lvl up on, because they're worth so much! (even though the mats are a bit on the pricy side ^^) I can get between 5 to 10g for each of these! The trick is adverticing :p

1. i wore this when i was around that lvl. great chest peice.

2. Sells very well on AH. On my server, they will usually go for 10-16g. The mats only cost about 6-8g, so it is a profit of 2-10g

Im trying to sell this on Warsong server for a few days now seems that all twinks have some crazy .0001 drop rate chest piece and others have it already!if ne one wants to buy it pst to Myratheus. To make sucessful money off the Shining Silver Breastplate:
Bronze Bars (20): gained from mining in different low lvl areas.
Silver Bars (4): gained from mining in 16-30 areas
etc. Duskwood
Moss agates (2): gained from prospecting tin, or rarely gained from mining tin, silver veins.
Iridescent Pearls (2): gained from farming bluegill murlocs in wetlands near menethil.
Lesser Moonstones (2): the hardest part, gained from prospecting tin or mining.

How to get Gems Much easier (Suggestion) lvl up a Draenei (Recommended because of the 5+ jewelcrafting skill) to 50 in Jewelcrafting, then on your blacksmither character, send all your tin ores to your Jewelcrafter, Prospect the tin then send back.

Things to remember:
1. the Tin MUST be in ores.
2. prospecting requires 5 ores to prospect.
3. Shining silver breastplate usually sets around 25g on my Server (Outland) or in other servs, might go on an average of 10g.
4. The prospecting of tin requires skill 50.
5. Get to work!

Dwarf Paladins are rare. Even more rare are female dwarf paladins. In all my 32 levels I have only ever seen another and it was at the AH, and she looked just like me, only different face.

Anyway, I though this piece looked awckward on my char till I put a shirt on her and then it lookes just fine. I'm not a fan of midrift on short, dumpy women, especialy when they're suppose to be Priestesses of the Light (or so the story goes) with armor.

I posted a pic to let all know what it lookes like on a female dwarf, but knowing Thotbot, it won't be pu for several months, if at all.

You want to get the mats cheap? If I buy all the mats from the AH at the typical prices, I have to pay to pay 18G. I typically sell for 21G. Not much of a profit. BUT, I just keep an eye on the AH mats, and there's alway suckers listing their mats way too cheap. 12s for a moonstone, 2g for 13 silver bars, 5 iridescent pearls for 1g -- those were some of my favorites. I check the AH several times a day for those particular mats (swiftthistle too). I typically sell for a 7g profit. I find the SSBP a nice way to package up those cheap mats without feeling too much like a speculator. And it's a nice way to level my blacksmith without having to spend hours farming.

this is probibaly the best chest peice i've found for low warriors, only one so far that's even tempted me to upgrade was the Green iron haubrek, but i prefer the look of this, great peice of gear still happy using at level 37

Ahh, the shining silver breastplate. My favorite money maker in the later part of master blacksmithing (145 blacksmithing). The moss agate you can get fairly easy while mining tin and the same goes for lesser moonstones. Iridescent pearls come from clams dropped by murlocs all over the land which Menethril Harbor. Silver is the only one that will give me trouble, but you can buy them at a decent price at the AH. And even if you cannot get all the ingridients in the wild, you can buy them at at the AH like you do with the silver. The only snag is the the iridecent pearls that like 80s on Zul'Jinn. I sell mine usually at 7g, and sometimes alittle more.

I'm well and truly gobsmacked. I take a good half hour making one of these, brought 2 Iridescent pearls especially for it and everything.

Noticed I could make a bit of profit so what I wanted to do was put it in AH at 2g 99s starting bid and 4g 99s buyout (a bit cheaper than the one that was already in there) but easier said than done....

I accidently put it in as 4s 99c buyout... no wonder it sold so fast :((

This is actually learned at 145 Blacksmithing and not the indicated 135 skill. The hardest part to get, at least during the first week of Classic (might change once it has been live for a while), is the Iridescent Pearls.

Great chest piece at level 25. Should last you until green iron. They weren't kidding with it being a breastplate though. If you aren't wearing an undershirt you can show off your abs.
