1) All ring enchantments make "Bind when Equipped" rings Soulbound.
2) All ring enchantments are enchanters only. You can't sell ring enchantments in any form (Formulas are "Bind on Pickup", Rings become soul bounded, and can not be traded within the trade screen.
3) Requires a level 35 (or higher) Ring.

Reason:
Presumably, The Scale of the Sands deals with Mount Hyjal and the battle that takes place there. Mount Hyjal is a part of Caverns of Time but has not been released yet to live servers. There are a few quests that'll earn you reputation with this faction, but it's few and far between - no where close to the required points for Revered (which this formula requires). NPCs and Bosses inside Karazhan give reputation points towards The Violet Eye, not The Scale of the Sands.

This enchant really doesnt add up when you compare the mats and work to the benefit. I can see maybe a druid enchanter benefiting if they are feral... but the lower level +spell/heal/attackpower ect are cheap to enchant and give much more in my opinion.

As far as the mats being to expensive. If your guild is to the point that an Enchanter can get this formula, the guild should, I hope, have Karazhan on farm status and you could pick up the items to D/E very easily.

Take note too, although the mats may be expensive and the enchant not that great, many can still benefit fromt his due to the fact it looks like by the description it can be placed on other non-enchanters rings as well, unlike +2 weapon damage, so manay non-enchanters will benefit from it, and the previous statement above as well.

How would you say this compares to the for PvP?
It would seem that +4 agi, +4 str, and +4 stam would top +2 wep damage.
Also I'm a rogue with a 2.6 MH, 1.5 OH (The S1 Pity Epics) So you can use those weapon speeds to help calculate your decision.

As a rogue, I'd take the +2 weapon damage over this, any time. 4spi, 4int - wasted, 4str - half wasted.
So this only increases two stats that you really need. Warriors might benefit from this more than from +2dmg, since their weapons are slower, and they don't dual wield (except fury). For hunters, shamans (enhancement) this is probably better than +2 weapon damage. Since they fully use the stats they get from it. For healers and casters, I'd suggest the +healing and +spelldmg over this one.

If you're an enchanter and you've enchanted two rings with this +4 stats enchant, then decide to drop enchanting for another profession, will you lose the ability to use the ring at all? Or will you just not get the +4 stats benefit but still get the benefit of the actual ring stats, etc.?

You WILL LOSE the enchant on the ring if you drop enchanting. It goes red and says "enchanting 350 requied". idk what patch this was applied but today I found out the expensive way :P

The mats for this enchant were also nerfed.

It is now 2 Large Prismatic Shards and 2 Void Crystals. So around 80-90g instead of the 250-300g it used to cost.

I as a rogue would actually prefer the +4 stats, it would give me 16 ap, about 0.20% crit and 80health, that 16 ap would be at least 2 weapon damage, maybe 3 and i would get a bit more health and crit, havent tested since i havent been to Mount Hyjal yet :P but thats my opinion as of now.

Great for feral druid since they get %20 more strengh from talents and get 2 ap per str. They also benefit from all the stats.

maybe a stupid question - 24 spell damage (2x+12 spell dage) or +8 stats (2 of this one).

It seems mats are more expensive and enchant level is higher and enchant itself is harder to get - but I hate losing +24 spell damage.

Anyone know reasons to do this instead?

PVP is a good reason
A mage however wouldn't want to lose 24 Spell damgage to gain 80 health.....(8spirit/int)
Pallies, Druids and Shamans will drool though...

I cant really understand how ppl can see the cost of this enchant as the problem in this case.. When u will need The Scale of the Sands Revered.
By the time any enchanter is revered with TSOTS u will have plenty of void crystals stacked up in bank..

Also, they are sold for 15g at AH at my server.

As of 2.3 this formula is no longer a The Scale of the Sands - Revered reward, but a Lower City - Honored one.
I haven't seen this being mentioned in the patch notes, so it's either a supreme stealth-buff for us non-topnotch-endgame-raiding druids (and whoever else might want this ;D) or an unintended change, which would be sad.

Edit: oh and the mats have been lowered from 6 Void Crystals and 6 Large Prismatic Shards to 2 of each.

It appears this is missing from the lower city quartermaster in phase 1 of TBC classic. The tooltip in-game also appears to reference lower city rather than scale of the sands which would be unobtainable until T6 content is released, so I'm hoping we will see this added in P1 otherwise enchanting as a prot warrior (don't laugh) will be pretty underwhelming until then.
