A good place to farm for these, once you have your flying mount, is the Elemental Plain. This is a hidden area only reachable by flying mount above the Throne of Elements in Nagrand. There are many fire and air elementals there, on a fast respawn timer.

You can far Motes of Air very quickly, and these can be turned into Primal Air.

for a protection warrior like myself, i have better luck farming the Motes of Air from the 65, 66, 67 air elementals all around Nagrand and the ones that are 69, 70 in Shadowmoon Valley. less competition, faster killing equals more Motes of Air per hour than my prot tanking self trying to farm the hard-hitting 70-71 elementals at the plateau.

also, note that the spot is choke full of elementals, it is also choke full of warlocks and hunters farming the crap outta motes. i check it out to see what its like up there few times a day at different times, and now that its summer, the kiddie alliance aren't in school anymore and don't have to work so they are up there farming at all times of the day now. terrible farming spot, unless you are a warlock or hunter yourself to minimize downtime between elementals.

A place I has found to be a good farming-spot is in Shadowmoon Valley as mentioned above. The mobs go down pretty easy (5,5k hp). You can find them north-east of Altar of Sha'tar and south-east of Warden's Cage (just a bit west of the big crystals on your map) as well as along the edge facing Netherwing Ledge. Happy farming!

Try out shadowmoon valley around where you do the quest to pickup the helm to see the ghosts of shadowmoon. Pretty successful in that area, maybe 2primal's an hr or so, maybe more if you don't have any others in the area and you aren't getting bothered.

Dont see why these are so expensive, dead easy to farm, im currently farming 20 for my Thunder, and i can pick up about 5-10 in about an hour in a good grinding session, i deceided to head to the AH to buy the last few i needed, and wtf? 50g each, supply and demand! appart from their piss easy to farm =/

I guess the prices will drop a fair bit in a month or so when theres less demand for them.

Primal airs themselves don't drop, you need motes of air. It's kind of obvious being that every other primal element works that way too. Anyways, the best place to farm them is off the wind elementals(also obvious) on the cliff north of Throne of Elements in Nagrand.

These are the most expensive primal to buy, about 75g on my server :x fire only comes to maybe 30-35g compared. It's nuts, sometimes you need 8-10 primal air for just one little thing but I guess the market got psyched up about Air somehow? Life and Shadow are nearly worthles.

If you are looking for a good place to grind these. I would recommend the Storm Ragers in Nagrand. They can be found around (48, 27),And (58, 44)

for me was in shadowmoon, kinda by the altar of shadows. there are tons there and every 1-2 kills you get at least 1 or 2 motes of air.

plus, 1 primal air sells for about 28g (cheapest price) in the auction house on bloodhoof.

for future reference for people who think you can buy something like primal shadow and transmute it all the way over to air (like i did).... DOES NOT WORK SOO WELL considering i did not know about he 24hr cd on it witch really sucks, plus, i need 4 meaning 8 TRANSMUTES that is 192hrs of cd total, so i need 8 alchemists or something, this isn't working soo well, plus hard to get mats for cobrahide leg armor if u can't afford so DO NOT try and take this easy was out, waste of $$

yup elemental plateau is the best place to farm all primals ... but there is a lot of competition.. just like previous post.. i go there late at night or early in the morning

on my server, i tried to grind primal air at the fields/pass in shadow moon and got about 4 MOTES of air in about an hour...it sucked and was frustrating...

If you have this transmute you can farm the water elements in Nagrand in the lake right next to Garadar (Horde base). It is a cool down of 24hours as you know but at least its much easier to farm. You can have primal water and primal air if you stay long enough. Much quicker to get 20x mote of water then it is to get 10x mote of air. 20x mote of water = 1x primal water and 1x primal air when transmuted. Or you could just farm to tranmute into primal air. If anyone thinks otherwise please comment.

I went to 60,20 in Shadowmoon Valley and farmed around 1-2 Primals within 30 mintues. If your going there be careful of the other mobs. Its nice and quite and I recommend that spot to farm it there. Probley want flight form or a flying mount

hunter lvl 70 i used my bird wit track elementals on in nagrand an got plenty of these enough so that my alt will get her epic mount soon an if my luck holds so will my other alt

If you're blowing a transmute cooldown on making these from waters, you're being a knucklehead.

On my server, anyway:
Primal Earth, sells for 5g.
Primal Water, sells for 22g.
Primal Air, sells for 27g.

Transmuting Water->Air, net gain 5g.
Transmuting Earth->Water, net gain 17g.

You would have to be getting 2-3 extras from Master of Transmutation every single time you transmuted to make up the difference.

Kind of a no-brainer, no?

im an elemental shaman and for me simply impossible to farm mote of air (i have the same problem with motes of earth, but they are rather cheap on my server). I wanna a non-nature nuke!

Well I was farming In nagrand, by the throne of elementals. The following is how many Motes dropped comapered to air elementals that didn't drop a mote.

Motes dropped:13
No Motes:17

This is a 43.3% drop rate of motes. However this counts mutiltiple mote drops. If we decided to look at it if an enemy dropped a mote or not not coutning more then one dropped it would be around 17%

In other words get ready for a long grind.

seriously farming this is so easy as an enhancment shaman, never have to sit down to drink thanks to shamanstic rage, continious grinding.. I'd get like 3-5 primals in an hour.. but for elemental is hell.
if I was elemental I'd farm water / fire elemental then sell primal water / fire for primal air.

I'm currently farming this for my elemental netherstrike set.. need 36x primal airs.

Yeah the best place to farm those are in Netherwing Fields from the elementals. And its good to farm gold too. I got Ced's carver from an elemental and about 8 primal air in 2hours

Zap Mote extractor... flying around Nagrand, I'm making 2-3 primal airs an hour -- with an epic flyer, my friend makes about 5 an hour. Also these always sell once posted on AH.

On my server primal air goes for 21g .. so thats upwards of 63g an hour, or 105g an hour if you have an epic flyer.

Even easier in 2.3 due to mote clouds appearing on mini map like mine viens do if your wearing skill 350 epic engineer only goggles.

The easyiest way to get primal airs as well as other primal is to be an engineer with the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor. You can find windly cloads in places like nargrand that are just like mineing veins. each once gives 3-5 motes or air. which one my sever comes out to somewhere around 10 g each time. They are fairly common to come across.

Used a normal 100% mount, and Zapthrottle Mote Extractor + Ultra-Spectropic Detection Goggles to gather 45 mote in under 1 hour, count from the clouds was a couple times as high as 5 motes per cloud. on the server i play, when i put lowest bid and bo which were 21gold per primal making it a profit of 94,50 gold, just running around Nagrand, place is great since its open.

sorry guys you all go on about how its always busy, if your farming primals it means when you sign on wow 95% of the time you are famring the same spot, if not then you left just to repair and sell. THIS IS FARMING

Now if you just go to nagrand and start killing elementals prob lots of competition but, if your liek me and farm, then your there alot and there is alot fo the time where you can farm for 30min up to an hour by yourself with no one else, it depends on how much you are there, and if your famring u should find alot fo the time you can be on a roll

Fellow shamans who are complaining about spell immunities:
I'm farming with no problem in SmV, getting about 1 primal per circuit (15-20mins) up and down Netherwing Pass and Altar of Shadows area.

etc... throw in Heroism (and Shamanistic Rage if you have it) if ya want. If you get in a tight spot, rocky is immune to their special attacks.
I'm level 70, I have mostly blue gear from instances (I still have blue chest piece from hellfire quests at 60ish), and I down these quickly if WF procs once of twice. I do these circuits non-stop, using SR and WS to keep mana up and bandaids/gift of the naruu to keep my health up. It helps to throw grounding totems when they begin casting Chain Lightening (nasty 800ish dmg), and when they cast hurricane, get behind them outside the AoE and enjoy several seconds of them not attacking you and whack away! :)

No Earth Shock? No lightening? No problem!
