Quick info
Now to do this might be a little tricky if you are alone, now he is supposed to be a 2 man (or higher) "boss". Luckly you can solo him as a ranged class! With some DPS and smart use of enviroment you can solo him without a problem (at least no problem for a Frost Mage, probably Fire too :P)

I made a small video (50 seconds) how you can pull him and then kill him without any adds interrupting you! ;)

Approach the Ruins of Andorhal from the South-East road.
Clear a bit when going forward closer to the boss (Araj).
Take a quick look at these 3 pictures (the pull, the jump and the dps spot).
That's about it!

When you kill Araj, as of 8-17-05 at least, he drops a lootable item called a phylactery. You need to open this like a chest and you will then be able to loot 1-3 items depending on what quests you have. (I think there are 3 that involves killing him and taking his drops)

You will need to clear the whole area b/c you will get interrupted opening the phylactery when attacked. This is a pretty easy battle with 5 ppl 56+

I just helped a raid group kill Araj, and got everyone pissed off at me because I had tagged him (he spawned right on top of me while we were waiting, and I reacted) and when he died I was the only one who could loot his Phylactery. Apparantly this group had tried about five times already and were never able to loot it.

For the last try, they decided to split into normal groups (non-raid) and kill him twice, once for each group. When he died, everyone, even the group who hadn't tagged him, was able to loot the Phylactery.

So:

It doesn't matter who kills Araj; the loot isn't bound to whomever tags him.

Do -not- be in a raid group when you kill him. Normal groups are okay, but raids won't work.

It's easier to kill him if you've gotten Attuned Dampener from Chromie, but not necessary.

you can loot the quest item from the thing whether or not you were in the group...i was hiding in the city hall while a group of horde killed him....i waited for them to leave and looted the shard from the thing. anyone on the quest can loot it once he's been killed
