This is a fantastic quest reward for lower level Horde players. In order to obtain it, you must:

1) Accept the quest Amongst the Ruins from Je'neu Sancrea at the Zoram Gar outpost. He sends you into Blackfathom Deeps to find the fathom core. The core is located underwater towards the end of the instance, in the large room filled with Twilight evildoers.

2) Upon looting the fathom core, a lvl 28 elite water elemental named Baron Aquanis will spawn and attack you. Once you defeat the Baron, he will drop a Strange Water Globe for everyone in the party.

3) The globe begins a quest to return to Je'neu Sancrea at Zoram Gar and claim your booty!

If you are a Rogue it is very possible to solo this short quest chain for a nice weapon upgrade. I was able to do so at lvl 27. Baron Aquanis is fairly squishy (not suprising since he is made of water...), and timing your kicks and gouges will ensure he cannot get a frostbolt off.

Update: Baron Aquanis has his level reduced to 24 during the Old Azeroth leveling refresh of patch 2.3.

This weapon is an amazing upgrade for any warrior, be Fury or Arms. I have finally found a weapon to replace my Sin'dorei Warblade https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=22995 and an added off-hand will further increase my DPS & make up for loss of stats.

I should note, this sword is one of the very few one-handed swords available until level 31. The 20-30 bracket is often spent without a good, reliable sword in the offhand for rogues and warriors, so this is a good bet.

This is much too slow for an offhand.
You'd be better off using this in your main hand as it does more damage than your Wingblade(I'm assuming you went to WC here), and a random of The Tiger/Monkey/Agility/Strength sword for your offhand.

You want to have as slow a Main Hand weapon as possible with as much damage on it as possible, you want a fast Offhand with high DPS.

That is, you want at mimimum 2.0 for MH, and at maximum 2.0 for offhand.
You should be aiming for 2.5+ for your MH, and 1.5 for your OH.

I did this quest solo as a 25 rogue, and it was extremely easy. He was a lvl 24 elite but it didn't really seem that way. I didn't pop any of my cool downs and he only got me down to about 60% life. Definitely an easy quest with an awesome reward. Good luck. ;)

I can only confirm that it is very doable to solo as a stealth class. I tried at 22 with my BE rogue but died twice. I went back at 24 and with some minor buffs (stamina food and an agility scroll) he went down easy. I didn't even notice how much his frostbolts hit me for because he went down to quick. One Kick and one Arcane Torrent kept the frostbolts to a minimum though. I had a underwater breathing potion but the fight was over very quick so I'm not sure it is needed at all.

You get the sword from a quest in BlackFathom Deeps which asks you to find a stone and then you find it and kill the thing that summons from it and you get this sword or some other wand. You get the quest once your inside the instance from a dead corpse thats pretty hard to find, but its in a sub-room from Gamoor-ah's pool.

Ok let me go through this for everyone...because I spent 3hours...seriously... figuring this out on my own..

I am just going to explain how to get this from my rogues point of view. Keep in mind this is comming from a level 31 Rogue with 5pt talent Master of Deception, so I read as 34 to enemy mobs. All mobs that I saw were 25-28 elites. I can get to the core in about 5 mins now :)

When you enter the instance keep following the main route. First room you are in has you swim to the other side and do some Super Mario Bros jumping from stone to stone to get to the next section. The next main room after that has Goom'rah a level 29 elite turtle. Skip him if you are stealthing...hes HARD. A 34 Warrior and I fought him. It was about a 3min fight and he ended up killing the Warrior right before I killed him. I never went above 24dps and I average about 60-70. He dropped a nice blue Mail item that the Warrior said is great pre level 30.

Anyway... skip him and swim to the next shore some what protected by Nagas. From there you will see a hard left. Take it. Sneek around till you get to this area that looks like an H (seriously...an H) in the road. You can go 4 differnt ways, but the way you want to go is like a U turn off the path you were just on. This path has TONS of Naga and stealthed Deamons. Use your distraction when you need.

Keep going strait till you get to this bendy in the road. At that point you are seeing the ruins of the temple. This is where I messed up...

DO NOT TRY TO GO IN THE TEMPLE! THIS IS NOT WHERE THE CORE IS! It will waste you 3hrs running back to your body again and again thinking you have to open the temple doors by lighting all four fires and dying after each one, there is nothing inside you can do solo.

Instead, there is a big body of water surrounding the temple. Stealth past the 2 sets of guards and jump in the water. The core is so easy to find, its like strait infront of you where you jumped in directly under the ruin path that leads to the temple. Watch out though, the water has a few level 26-27 elite Thrashers. Kill the ones some what around the core if you can, if not they will REALLY complicate your fight with the core boss. Also, kill the crabs near the core as well, because they will attack you once you agro the boss. Once you kill everything around the core, loot it. The second you loot it the boss comes out. Hes a big named level 28 elite water elemental. If you have it (which im sure you didnt come into an instance with out), vanish, or be prepared for a hard fight.

Fight tip: Make sure you fight the boss on the other side of the path you just swam under to loot the core. If you fight on the same side you came in on your seriously risk agroing the ungodly (more than 30 guys) amount of mages and druids that are on the path above you. And if they see you, kiss your butt good bye. The other side has no one really close enough to be a threat if you fight with out moving around a lot.

After you have situated your self, attack him. I found the best place to attack him was on the opposite side of where you just came from closer to the norther wall. Throw on evasion first thing and make sure you kick him every time he stops attacking you, beacause he is casting Frost Bolt or Frost Nova.

My personal style was cheap shot,ss till 4pt, kidney shot, ss till 5pt, evis. Rinse repeat. He hits for about 100-130 a shot. It was a really hard fight for me at 31 with REALLY good gear. I had about 10% life left and during the fight I popped a big heal pot. Loot the body to get the item that starts the quest.

Last bit of advice, because the first time I got the guy to spawn this happend to me. DONT FORGET TO BREATH! I died the first time from drowning.

After that its honestly faster to hearthstone out (I went back to XR) and then fly back to Zor'grom or whatever out post than it would be to worry about stealthing back through the mission to get out.

Once you get back to the post, the same guy who gave you the quest to get the core and get all those gems off the walls out side of the instance, is who you turn the quest into. He gives you the option of the Outlaw Saber or some off hand Caster thing. Let me just say as a duel sword Rogue running The Outlaw in the main hand and the Jade Serpent Blade in my off hand, I can average about 85-90dps a fight with some 350+ crits with a 5pt evis. I'm not sure sure if this is good or not since I don't play with many other Rogues to compare my self to.

stuff you should take: more than enough flash powder to use vanish 3 times, just incase you agro stealth walking. Major healing pots for the boss. Instant poison or deadly poison on both blades.

Why do people keep writing its from a dead guy in BFD? Its not. Its from the MOB you kill after looting the core, from the quest you get in Zoram'gar post from a guy named Je'neu something.

The MOB drops a stone, orb whatever which activates a quest, just accept the quest and go back to Je'neu and complete both quests, one being the initial, the other being the quest from the MOB - that quest is what rewards Outlaw Sabre.

To do this I used: Atlas UI + Stealth (UD Rogue).

It's easy, rest assured. I completed this last night. Make sure you have room for atleast two quests in your quest log, then travel to Zoram'gar outpost (Far West Coast of Ashenvale, Southern Zoram strand). Once you get here, there's a troll NPC (Je'Neu Sancrea) who'll give you multiple quests. The quest you want to take if you want this weapon is . Get this quest, and travel north along the Zoram strand until you find the temple that leads to the instance, jump into the water and travel to the instance and enter. Okay, now is where you use Atlas, the instance-map UI, as well as your normal minimap, to find the Fathom Stone. It is located in the center of the room as indicated by Atlas, you'll be consulting the map. Once you enter the room that Atlas indicate the Fathom Core is in, stealth past the guards and swim beneath the walkway (note: above guide refers to this as well) and you'll find a Fathom Stone directly beneath the walkway's circular intersection. Assuming you're a rogue, you open this stone to retrieve the Fathom Core. Baron Aquanis spawns, you kill him by whatever means available (you might want to kill a few mobs around the area first as well as refresh your breath meter) and then WHEN YOU LOOT HIS CORPSE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO LOOT A STRANGE WATER GLOBE, THIS BEGINS THE QUEST THAT YOU NEED TO GAIN THE OUTLAW SABRE. Simply exit the instance by whatever means, return to Zoram'gar, and find Je'Neu Sancrea. Make sure you've right clicked the STRANGE WATER GLOBE to begin the quest, then turn in your Fathom Core quest, and you'll also be able to turn in a quest named BARON AQUANIS. THIS QUEST IS A SIMPLE TURN-IN OF THE ORB, YOU RECIEVE THE SWORD AFTER THIS. Good luck!

Solo-ed as a lvl 27 Troll Rogue. Took me three tries, had him to 2% and died of drowning. Definitely need a pot. I had really good gear as well, I recommend waiting until lvl 30+ to do this, unless you're a twink and can handle it. A tip, if you can't seem to do it, I found that if you vanished with combo points, he retained them, so you could wait 5 minutes and keep those points, that's what I did. Went down, cheap shotted and evis, then went to town. Good luck!

ok, Im an undead rogue, so I had absolutely no problem with drowning :) I enjoy fighting people under water for this reason. I got this sword when I was level 26 and got the meteor shard right after, I'd say its a pretty good combo, the sabre in my offhand is great for applying poisons of all sorts. anyway, DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED! this sword is really easy to get. Just get a friend who is lvl 28 and up to help you. heres a little help for you all

FIRST OF ALL!
go to the Zorom Gar strand, then go to the Zorom Gar outpost (keep in mind you have to be horde to be able to get this sword)

Second!
go to a FEMALE TROLL quest giver called Jenu Sancrea (I dont remember her first name, but her last name is sancrea), she gives several quests for BFD. anyway, get the quest called in which you have to find and loot the fathom core.

Third!

When you loot the core, a big water elemental pops up, call Baron Aquantis. When you kill him, most of the time he drops a or something like that. Anyway, loot it, then, open your inventory and right click it, because it starts a quest.

Fouth!

the quest tells you to talk to Sancrea, and when you talk to her, she offers a choice between the Outlaw Sabre and the witches twig which is an offhand stat booster.

GRATS YOUVE GOT THE OUTLAW SABRE LIKE ME WOOHOO!

for directions to the outlaw sabre scroll up and read a post by mattoattacko, 1.2 years ago, its kinda long and its yellow, so you can't miss it.

Please read the things people have said from older to younger , since you guys ask "Where can i get this q" after it has been said atleast two times before , so please read what people have said about this quest. The Sabre isn't that good compared to the things you have to go through while at it , especially when you solo it. It isn't that much worth the trouble, since you can get soon to Razorfen Kraul and other places. The sword is over respected , i went through all that trouble , since you can get way more dps with Swinetusk Shank and *any* other blue weapon from lvls 25-32.

Because +ap from items applies to ranged attack power too, when dual-wielded this is the best weapon for 29 twink hunters, period. The extra attack power increases ranged dps, and it also increases the damage done by Arcane Shot. My 29 (non-twink) orc hunter is using this and Wingblade, and it works so well that in groups, I have to hold back so that I don't pull mobs off the tank.

Ok what you do is get the quest from the corpse, then do what he tells you to do, go to that stone and kill the water elemental, THEN loot the elemental, and it should give you a strange water globe, THAT QUEST gives you the Outlaw Sabre or the Witches Finger.

my recommendation!
rogues(10-19)
obvious. go with the Shadowfang and Assassin's Blade. it would be dumb going dagger spec at this level since u dont have much power. get any talents u have that deal crit and as much crit% as u can. trust me.. if u do it right... ur normal white crits should be about 150 one each hand... (eviiiiiil)
have fun farming tho (0.01% drop on both in SFK)

Gonna get my fury warrior the Bite of Serra'kis OF with this MH. Best/easiest combination to get. However, would it be worthwhile getting a second Bite (not too hard to get) for the sheer rage generation? Obv this for the extra dmg, but being able to hit twice as fast with the MH is always gonna be nice.

do the Quest "Amongst the Ruins"

you go into the water under the long walkway/bridge that leads to Kelris. at the bottom is a stone tablet. when you click on it and it summons Baron Aquanis, he drops the Strange Water Globe which begins another quest. you click on it to start the quest to turn it in. sword is one of the reward choices.

you do not have to do the whole instance

if your doing 29 twink builds don't forget Lady Sarevess drops these Blue ithems:
Naga Heartpiercer +5 agi bow
Naga Battle Gloves
Darkwater Talwar

to minimize XP, stay out of instance, group, loot to free for all, have a 70 in group kill everything up to her, enter, kill her, see what you get, go out instance, ungroup, reset instance, regroup, set loot to free for all, repeat/go back in

rogues at 27 are nice with one point in master of disguise, we stealth in, kill one or two...done we stealth out

I believe that you do have to be in the horde to get this also. I was doin the Fathom Core quest which you get from one of the darkspear trolls in Zoram;gar outpost. There is a named lvl 28 elite mob my group had to kill in order to open the fathom stone with out being aggroed. I looted the the mob and it dropped this item that says it starts a quest. So I accept the quest because all I have to do is bring the thing back to that troll in Zoram. Little did I know that once I handed it in it would give me this awesome sword. So there u go; that is the quest for this sword. It starts with looting the named 28 mob that is near the fathom stone, and I'm pretty sure u have to horde.

Ran BFd 3 times and it dropped in various mobs . find a good group and happy hunting and i didn't have the essence quest when we ran it cause i was low level 20 so it is possible to do at 19 if you pick a good group

I found this in BFD, underwater, it was a drop by one of the mobs, in the pools right before you go into the big room that has a statue in it that looks like Sheeva (sp?, Indian god with many arms) and has the masses of mobs to kill.

This sword can only be obtained on the Horde side. When you kill Baron Aquinas (sp?), you loot his heart (Quest Item, starts a quest); you just have to bring it to the Zoram'gar outpost and when you complete the quest you can chose the Outlaw Sabre as a reward.

Felblade, cussing does not encourage someone to help you.

However, You can find this item as a quest reward for one of the many Horde Blackfathom Deeps quests. One of the (trolls?) on the beach in ashenvale gives the quest.

It is quite possibly a Horde only sword, unless the alliance has a similar quest with the same reward.

First, you have to complete this quest:
Quest: The Essence of Aku'Mai
Turn it in (village).
Then, you have to do this quest:
Quest: Amongst the Ruins (Elite)
When you click the piece of rock that has the core you need, Baron Aquanis spawns.
Loot the Strange Water Globe from the baron and right click on it --it will start a quest. Bring the Strange Water Globe to Je'neu Sancrea and you will be able to receive the Outlaw Sabre as one of the rewards. Second option as reward is Witch's Finger.

I am not posting all the details on quests and items, you can look them up on allakhazam.

Kill Baron Aquanis, take the Strangewater Orb to Zoram Strand. The Sword is the reward for the Quest. It is really that simple, I just did a run to BFD and got the sword after and let me tell you it rocks muchly!

but im a lvl 27 hunter and i was using wingblade in my main hand and butchers cleaver in my off hand i did BFD once and got this quest and i didnt even know about it so now that i got it i have butchers cleaver in my main hand and outlaw sabre in my off hand but not that it matters because hunters are supposed to use ranged. Perfect for rogues who cant stand to use wingblade in their main hand
