Patch 2.1 (currently on PTR as of mid-April) changes this item from 2000 mana to 65 intellect. This will give 975 mana (15 mana per intellect) without any talents that effect maximum mana. Priests with 5 points in the mental stength talent (+10% maximum mana) will get 1073 mana from this flask.

The mats to make all flasks will also be lowered. Distilled Wisdom will take 7 dreamfoil, 3 icecap, 1 black lotus and 1 crystal vial (down from 30 dreamfoil and 10 icecap)

As an Elemental Shaman depending on group make up I would probably take this over Flask of Power, (post 2.1).
With talents: 5/5 Unrelent Storm 6.5 Mp5
or
With talents 3/5 Unrelent Storm 1.95Mp5
Spell Crit %
and The Extra Mana Pool +975 Mana.
Now If I had a Shadow Priest in my group and no mana issues, I'd go with Supreme Power Flask.

For an Elemental Shaman, this is also 6.5 mp5.

Between the mp5, the mana, and the crit, you'd need over 1050 Int in order for Mighty Restoration to provide better longevity.

2.4 patch notes:

Spirit-Based Mana Regeneration: This system has been adjusted so that as your intellect rises, you will regenerate more mana per point of spirit.

i am unsure how this works out per class, but 65 int, the 1000-1500 mana it gives you AND the regen increase it now provides, might just make this the superior flask to have.

i will do testing on my priest when the patch hits, and report back, in the meantime, get theorycrafting, this or https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=22853 ?

As a priest in 2.4, you don't want to use Mighty Restos (assuming you aren't living in the past and have taken up spirit stacking ). Given raid-buffed stats of 600 intellect, 715 spirit, assuming a 10-minute fight, and IDS, for a priest, a Distill Wisdom provides 25 Mp5 I5SR, 56 Mp5 OO5SR, and 975 mana. This is assuming you do not have Mental Strength (most T5+ raid builds do not), as is outlined in the first "green" post, which would then add 1073 mana.

This may very well be the new Enhancement Shaman flask of choice. 65 attack power from talents as well as a decent amount of mana for more chain lightning abuse not to mention spell crit.

Oddly it is hard to push these on the AH, the mats are steeper then most flask *Curse you prebc mats* I tried pushing these for 35-40G a pop and was flamed endlessly in trade for being unreasonable for not selling them for 20g because they were "Only lvl60 items".

A few things to keep in mind for the current patch:

If one isn't going to be wiping on an encounter, there isn't much need to be flasking as a healer. I know I might get downranked for this, but one is not going to speed up the encounter unless one is assisting with dps. If one looking at this item, one is most likely a healer.

If one is on progression content and wants to be of utmost utility to the raid, one will take fel blossoms to pop in any encounters with non physical raid damage on pull... If one is not that excessive, a guru's elixir and elixir of mighty thoughts may be cheaper (depending on how many wipes and the intervals between them) and provide more of a stat bonus (especially with mixology). For all other situations I'm glad I can pretend Flask of the North is useful.

Edit: To summarise, there's a balance between cost (including opportunity cost) and utility that everyone makes an unconscious calculation about. Few people pay heed to the random 10 minute world buffs that would ostensibly be useful due to the opportunity cost of having to farm them and then get a warlock to port them in. Nor to items that are rarely on the AH and provide a marginal benefit. But perhaps people also place too much emphasis on optimising at great cost in other ways when the difference is as negligible (perhaps between this and flask of the frost wyrm) as those fel blossoms or world buffs.

One way to analyse enchants and flasks is by comparing them to how many gem slots it would take to match the stat of that particular flask and whether one would gem for that stat. For holy paladins, int is supreme and this sates 3.25 gem slots of it. But the additional stamina of the guru's elixir isn't to be sneezed at. For holy priests, int, spellpower and spirit are all valued in varied degrees. Guru's elixir provides 2 gems worth (1 for int and 1 for spirit) and mighty thoughts an additional 2.25, or draenic wisdom, 3. Flask of the frost wyrm provides the equivalent of 5.4~ gems. Flask of pure mojo 4.5 gems. Then compare to the gems one has used on your gear to determine the worth of a particular flask. If one has avoided nightmare's tear gems (for example, as a holy pally), then one probably won't be swayed by the guru's elixir + 1 argument.

its not a hard potion to make, the black lotus is the only tough one to find, you can collect the rest of the ingredients quite quickly actually... and if your lucky, you will find the black lotus while collecting the icecap

Just stack them over time and then when your guild needs to kill some other high level guild (ie. Battle Grounds or for honor) then give them out to your guild and show everyone the true power of alchemy. Think if all your casters have +2000 mana and all your tanks 1200 extra health, +you can give all rogues the mongoose potion. Yeah, it will be hard to get alot and yeah it does cost alot that is why you must stack them and use them for clutch, that is why alchemy is the number 1 clutch hitter in the game.

This is a potion for MC raid groups. The 2 hour buff will last for many fights in MC. It's a nice buff to have for doing the tougher bosses, when your healers will need a larger battery of mana.

I must say, this was handed to me in MC last night and its pretty sick having 10,000 mana (and I had +healing gear on and +mana regen .. If I had my Int gear on, It would have probably been closer to 11,000 ... with blessing of kings of course)

Yes the materials are hard to find, but people are farming for mana pots and healing pots all the time. We dont do MC everyday, (like 3 times a week) and when waiting for BG's you can just farm them. We often pool our resources and send them to one alchemist and have him make them all.

And yes, you also shouldn't be wearing it in EPL or where ever. It's clearly 40 man instance only.

There's alot of PURPLE lotus in the hinterlands.
TO find black lotus, go to the Thottbot page for it, and check the maps, the readings are quite exact and I usually get about 3-6 per day or two, if I'm lucky and competitors are few.
The potion is very much worth the ingredients, especially for battlegrounds and raids.

You can find Black Lotus in:
Winterspring - the Furlbog (whatever they are called) camp behind Everlook.
Eastern Plague Lands - The ghost town northwest of Light's Chapel and south of that elven lodge in the north. (watch out for eyeless watchers)
Burning Step - its random
the most common place is outside of Everlook (I have collected about 6 or 7 there).

Alchemy labs are is Scholomance.

It's a nice potion now that it lasts through death. Takes a while to farm the reagants, but it can give you the edge you need to down that new MC boss for the first time. Always good to have 11,000 mana with all the +int buffs you can get from people in MC. :D

EDIT: Oh, and as for finding black lotuses, just travel to all the places listed on Thott, I can usually get about 2-4 a week, checking on the good places for about an hour each day.

Can one live in Scholomance to get to the labs or is this similiar to the enchanters having to go to Uldaman to train?

u can only do the flasks in scholomance.. the alchemy lab is in Lich's room.. after killing the lich boss u can do it both left and right side of the entrance.. if u cant do it /w me

I'm currently gathering the material for one of these for my druid.
I'll use it on my guilds first Nefarian tries (downed Chromaggus last sunday after 3 tries with no deaths on the last one).
Since it lasts for 2 hours and through death it can be used for several tries.

I think it's up to the individual player when to use a flask. If you down one in AV or something, it's your money...

Gawd, this flask is sweet, if anyone thinks different or doesnt agree then they have clearly neve been to an end game instance and ran out of mana 1/4 way throught the fight due to a boss mana draining or maybe a curse causing your mana cost to increase or maybe if the tank has a curse to decrease healing spells and you have to spam your largest heals

im not a fan of these flasks greatly catering to spellcasters.... as a rogue its disheartening to see the best elixer (mongoose) so incredibly easy to attain... alchemy is pretty boring now, so currently im collecting as many herbs as i can to make as many elixers and potions as i can to send them to my mule :( please blizzard give us something cool like +100 attack power for 120 mins
