Not a bad sword for killing undead mobs. The proc rate is about once a mob.

My average crits with Fang of the Faceless (Epic) are around 1800 - 2000 (with Backstab)
My average crits with Argent Avenger (Rare) are about 1600 - 1700 (with proc and Sinister Stike)

Pretty good damage especially for its lvl when the proc activates.

Do I have to do Stratholme to get this Sword or EPL Quest reward yall's comments confused me and can I get the lvl of Stratholme I have a 53.5 hunter dwarf and I train super fast i made this guy 3 weeks ago so i can at least get to 56 this weekend ?

Good luck getting a Teebu's, though. It only drops from the mobs spawned in Silithus from the AQ Gates Opening Ceremony. As of this posting, the only server with a chance of spawning a brand new one is "Cairne" - a fairly new US-PVE server.

This is misinformation. It can drop from any old world 61-63 (and boss) elites. Just imagine the lowest drop rate you can think of, and then imagine a drop rate worse than that.

It appears it is not possible to change the color of the lightsaber.

The baseline blue remains if you throw an enchant over the top. And the enchant will not cover the tip of the sword, which remains blue.

I tried putting Lifestealing on this weapon, and the effects are not noticeable. Don't waste your money like I did! Too bad... purple + blue would've been cool :(.

Remember that if you enchanted this with something and you regret it, or just want to have it the original way, you can overwrite the enchant with https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=7788 or a similar low skill weapon enchant, seeing as (most) of them haven't got a glow.

i spent about 2 hours soloing live and dead side strat as a 70 holy pally, took quite some time to get the baron down alone as im just a healer, but i finally did it and i grabbed this sword for the RP looks..

Works great against the scourge with my undead slaying armor set aswell but mostly for RP purposes. its pretty bad@ss

Picked this up for RP reasons while i was farming Argent dawn rep with a friend, looks neat and is GREAT for RP :D if you are a Death knight like me you can add runes instead of enchantments for that "little extra" :)

If it says bonus against undead it means NPC ones, the scourge, not the forsaken which are player undead. It's like the paladin spells like exorcism and Banish Undead, they will never work on player undead, only NPCs. Interseting note though, the undead guards that defend horde towns count among the undead that can be hurt by those spells.

The archivist must be killed and his library burnt as required by the quest before the head can drop.

The head CAN be obtained in a raid, and you don't have to leave the raid to get it.

1. do the archivist quest set by the duke in EPL by the chappel
2. hand in the quest
3. next time you kill Balnazzar his head will drop, and this starts a quest
4. hand in the quest to the same person you obtained the archivist from in EP
5. obtain a quest to kill Baron Riverdare
6. kill him, hand the quest in, get a choice of 3 things (staff, 1h swrod and shield)

Procs pretty often. I don't have exact numbers though.

I have this in my offhand when I'm doing strat/scholo runs. And will carry it around for the look. Other than that >_> not good. I use the Mirah's Song from the scholo quests.

It did however increase my over all dps but I don't like the loss in speed.

edit: I put the fury enchant on it, Pink Sword of Power!

Did this quest in group rogue, mage, druid, warrior, shaman. It was piece of cake. Strath 5men including baron took like 1,5 hour. Noone died.

WRT to someone asking about finishing these quests in a raid...can't be done anymore. So those who got this reward (and MANY others) prior to the patch that disallowed this cheesey tactic did not actually earned their rewards.

Those of us who have 5 manned since then HAVE earned the rewards.

you are sure the enchants still show up i put a 15 agil enchant on it and nothing changed looks still the same and thinking now to change to fiery weapon for cooler look but dont want to waste again mats for enchanting :/

Took down the Baron last nite.

Priest (Tessara)
Mage (Olden)
Hunter (Feradon)
Paladin (Malachai)
Tank (I)

Did not wipe once, but I died twice, including once when tanking Rivendare.

Tried the 45 minute run. Ran out of time when we got to Maleki. Distributing loot is the biggest time consumer. It can be done, but you have to use that shortcut next to the spiderboss. I suggest you kill the Baroness first, then the spider boss, then Maleki.

And it was a good nite for lewt. I got the Acid-Etched Pauldrons, good for ZG or AQ; a Magister's belt thingie, for one of my alts; a large brilliant shard; 3 frayed abomination stichings, since no one wanted them; and a corruptor's stone. On top of that, a nice gold reward for quest completion and the Argent Avenger.

A very nice nite indeed.

Just to clarify, the sword is indeed a lightsaber. Besides Teebu's, it is the only lightsaber in the game to my knowledge.

The pic linked to below is with a demonslaying/fiery weapon enchant on it. Regularly, it has a blue energy blade.

Since they fixed the "dropped out of the raid" people used to do to get it, you now have to 5-man the baron.

Argent Avenger with Unholy

After having a few different enchants on it, when I finally learned Unholy I figured I'd pop it on and see what it looks like runnin around ingame. I personally think it's the best one I've had on it so far, and I've had demonslay, icey, fiery, +15agi .. they were all decent on it but I really like this one .. icey turned it into a portable spotlight XD hehe

This is one of those encounters that isn't meant for a pickup group. One good combination would be:

<class> | <spec>
------------------------------------
Priest - Holy/disc
Warrior - Protection/arms
Paladin - (really any spec would be fine)
Mage - Arcane (at least imp. arcane explosion)
Hunter - Marskmanship/beast

Priest be sure to buff shadow protection, Pally give the priest either Wisdom or Kings and off-heal the mage and priest, Mage save as much mana for arcane explosion as possible (for the skellies), Warrior don't let the baron budge. if you're all on vent and all know how to work together, this really isn't a hard quest. Oh, and major mana pots for everyone makes it easier :). This might be a bit of overexplanation since he only takes like 30 seconds to kill him in 10-man... but 5-man is tough, especially for the healer (I'm biased =P).

I had honoured with argent dawn (through goign to stratholme so much) I dunno if you can get the quest on friendly or whatever.. but basically it danuk explained it all.. once you do archivist.. balnazzars head will drop (this starts a quest back to lights hope chapel) then you get Above and Beyond quest to go get baron.. get his head (leave raid before he dies then join up again) then go back to chapel.. talk to another gy.. open a chest.. and you get a choice of this, the argent staff, or the argent shield (look up argent in search im too lazy to link)

the proc is cool lookin, it looks like ur using Arcane Power. it covers u with lightning bolts. and the proc is not as often as u would like, but its not that bad. and yea i could see how this would be good when doin UD strat. i have this as a mage only cause i have a better staff than the one u get from this quest. i bust it out every once and a while in instnaces or in pvp cause its just funny when u get beat down by a mage with this.

im thinkin of puttin firey on this. what would u guys do?

Can be done in PUG, can be done on blue gear. But guildies and ventrilo as well as some epics help a lot.

First, keep pulling as long as casters have atleast 50% mana, casters sit and drink as soon as possible. Allmost all trash pulls can be 3manned in there if you don't get adds so manausers can pretty effectivly drinkrotate when needed.

Ideal party setup;
Warrior, if goodgeared he can 2h tank most for increased DPS.
Priest, shackle comes very handy as well as the buff
Hybrid, supportive healing and buffs/totems as well as supportive DPS when healing not needed
Mage, AoE is very very important at the Baron
Warlock (or random DPS if you have a Shaman hybrid)

Kill spiderboss to the left first, then go the counterclockwise turn and go back to kill the mindcontroll !@#$%, continue through the narrow ally (NOT the "trap" next to the spider). Kill the silly mageboss Maleki at the stairs. Once Maleki is dead, make sure the Priest is soulstoned or that the Shaman has an Ahnk ready.

Here comes the trick, suicide run down to the gates before the Rammstein event, but don't aggro the abdominations there. Everyone dies, priest/shaman selfres and resses the whole team.

You just saved yourself 10 minutes of trash or so and have plenty of time to take on the rest of the event.

Another tipp is to have the mage+hybrid clear out the trash from inside eatch building behind the bosses while the other three continues to clear trash, this saves about a minute or two for each of the three bosses.

Ive succeded in the 45min run a few times now, the oddest setup didn't have any mage at all, all the AoE was from a holy priest (imba geared one)

You must have completed Quest: The Archivist in order to get this quest.
The head of Balnaazar (Scarlet Boss) will drop in a raid as well as in a single group. The head of Balnaazar starts the quest that ends in this reward. Part of this quest you must kill the Baron Rivendare on East side. Baron's head will not drop in a raid, so you must drop the raid before he dies, looot the head, then join back up again.

First kill the demon in the scarlet area in Strath...get the head...turn it in to a guy in Hope chapel. Then kill the baron, get his head...vwala...insta lightsabre sword.

High-ish proc rate (up to several times in a pull), making this weapon an absolute monster for undead Stratholme runs in particular, especially when paired with Seal of the Dawn (+81 AP vs. Undead).

A lot of people discount this sword due to its small damage range, but they forget that it's faster on average than most main hands (2.5-2.8) and will give more consistent Rage returns for a Fury warrior. It's 5 DPS base over Thrash Blade, which is a lot slower and sports--at the absolute best--a 2% proc chance. Argent Avenger should give you better damage and rage returns baseline than Thrash in your main hand. It might not have raw stats, but its attack speed and general damage throughput are great until you get something more raid-oriented, such as both of Dal'Rend's, Ironfoe, or a raiding weapon.

I will say, however, that the shield alternative is capable of being incredibly useful for AoE farming or powerleveling situations using a shield spike. Unfortunately, you have to choose here, but Drillborer Disk will be the BiS for that if you can get access to it eventually.

WoW Anniversary 2025

Decided to test this as rogue in Strat UD. Tried it both as MH and OH.

The OH procs are once in never, while the MH are somewhat better due to forced attacks. The item is nowhere near the claims of posts from early vanilla, meaning that it's proc was normalised. Either 1.5 or 2min internal cooldown.

The weapon it's pretty garbage compared to other options even against undead.
