1 Agility = 1 attack power
14 attack power = 1 DPS (same as saying 14 agility = 1 DPS)
also 53 Agility = 1% cirtical chance

Base on your 1.7625 Increase in DPS for 1% crit.

You would need ~17 Agility when combining the crit increase and DPS increase.

Thus for the 2% cirt chance of this armor you need a chest that is +34 Agility, which is not easy to find. The highest i was able to find was +26 for the giantslacker. I think this is the best pure damage chest for a hunter.

This dropped from the safe in brd. 58 hunter wearing crap stam bonus passed (crazy) ....So I rolled on it and won. Arent I the lucky enchance speced shaman.

it takes 53 agility to get 1% crit. However, with 53 agility you gain a good amount of DPS. So which way is the best? Do I want a higher crit, or a crit more often. I have a lvl 56 hunter, with 135 base dps. i am juggling between going with mail that has crit % and mail with agility bonus. any comments / ideas?

But figure in the damage increase with a critical strike.......my Precisely Calibrated Boomstick Crits on Aimed Shot once every 2 - 3 aimed shots - 1200 damage. (One time got 6 critical aimed shots in a row).

I can tell +2% crit is added to melee attack, but how can you tell if the same is on the range weapon? If the crit rate is only a bonus for melee then it is probably worthless for a hunter.

Just got this ona 5-man BRD run, on my way to get attuned. I saw the 2% crit and jumped all over it. I was the only Hunter, and the only Mail wearer. Mine by default. Looks like crap, but I have a tabard.

best thing for a hunter is to get crit and a slow but high damage ranged weapon. use your aimed shot and multi shot as fast as posible. your damage with rise to the top on the damage meters for sure.

I see nothing but posts about how hunters need the +crit percentage, and I can't help but think to myself, "there are other stats there..." Let's look at this for a second:

Strength: Increases Melee attack power, amount of damage absorbed by a shield, etc...
--Just those two things alone should point out that Hunters have little to no use for an item with Strength on it.

Stamina: Increases your health points.
--HP is overall key to any player's survival, duh, but a GOOD hunter in PvE will NOT be getting aggro, let alone be getting hit. Especially not with Feign Death and a good tank. In PvP, hunters are hard enough to kill as it is at range, so if you get within range of a hunter with low HP, it's probably gonna go just about as fast as a hunter with high HP.

2% chance to crit:
--This is the most disputed stat on this piece of armor. It DOES apply to both ranged and melee attacks, but when you look at the whole piece of armor (as in the other stats), as well as the play style from both classes, you will realize that the 2% chance to crit does a lot more for an Enhancement Shaman than it would for a Hunter. Hunters can sit back and attack without any real need for crits, seeing as they do massive damage with crap to decent gear anyway. However, sitting there as an Enhancement Shaman waiting for a crit to proc Flurry is like waiting for a damned bus to come. Every crit for a melee Shaman is a significant boost to their DPS, and with 2.0 that means full Enhancement Shamans will be adding to their groups DPS as well. (Even hunters, if they're in range!)

Not only the crit percentage, but the strength helps them hit that much harder in melee, block that much more damage with a shield, and the stamina helps them survive a lot longer at the front lines, where there are often AoE attacks and stuff like cleave. I realize 8 strength and 8 stamina isn't that lifesaving, but at level 52, that item is gonna be pretty nice until you get the Vest of the Elements.

Bottom Line: Enhancement Shamans get this before Hunters. (And Warriors, and even Rogues! :P)

You say Enhancment shamans arnt always hitting? HELLO! what do you think we do? sit back and have tea parties? An enhancment shaman if hes smart (even with dual wield option availible) is to have a giant 2h weapon with high dps and very SLOW attack with windfurry on it. because of this slow attack it takes a while to crit.. but when we crit.. its worth it! My windfurry has both gone off once and both crit for 1100 each while doing a normal crit of 700 while useing *Twig of the World Tree* around 50dps and around 3.8sec speed. Im level 55 BTW. We need the strenth... we need the stam.. and we REALY need the crit chance!

Hunters on the other hand... you dont need the strenth...(yeah i realize pets mess up alot and you have to melee sometimes) you dont need the stamina (See pet thing above) but the 2% crit chance would help... its not a dire need for you... if you didnt have it you would still mombard damage... if a smart elemental shaman didnt have it... hes weak......

this is universal item. the fact it has equal str/sta means it is made for shamans.Thou it's just that goog for hunter especialy with sta/health enchant.I am a hunter and i would need on this in ANY case

Hunter here and I'd roll on it too. True we have great damage from afar and melee is our last resort, but sometimes there's no other option but to melee because well for one sometimes range is limited and we are caught in tight spots and have a monster on our tail so yeah I always try to have some strength on me. FD has a cd so it's not always an option, the armor on our back better be strong cause our melee isn't the best.

Whoever said Hunters don't need Stamina is a complete dumbass. Have you ever played a hunter before? Stamina is important in PVE and even more so in PVP. You think a warriors just gonna attack your pet until he dies and then attack you? NO obviously he's going to attack the one with the higher DPS. Same goes when pvping casters. What happens when they get in your dead zone and are whuppin' your ass? You can only count on having your STA to back you up while you WC or CS or Trap your wayout of the situation. What good is ranged AP/Crit if you cant survive a bout because you have no STA?

FYI if you download "Outfitter" you can tie it to your stances--in the case of a Hunter, you can have all of your +ranged stuff on when you're shooting in Hawk, and as soon as you click on Monkey your gear will instantly switch over to whatever you've allocated to those slots--in my case, +stam until I can get away from whatever's on me and go back to ranged.

This is free and will do more for you than probably any piece of anything in the game.

Just thought I'd mention it since I learned about add-ons late in life...

Pretty good armor for PVP... paladin, warrior, hunter. good stats +8 and 2% chance to crit, excellent chest piece.

Can't believe only one person managed to devise that this is an amazing chest piece for an enhancement shaman, /golfclap to everyone debating whether it should go to Pala / warrior or Hunter.
I'd say Shaman & Hunters should get priority over Warriors & Palas for PVP or not, since you can get some fat plate chests with good +agi bonuses.

A slightly better item would be the 墓碑胸甲 (Tombstone Breastplate), though that item can be much more difficult to farm.
