As of 3.2, these no longer have a chance to contain random herbs.

You will either find Morrowgrain or useless grey "Mutated Morrowgrain" (no wowhead link available at the time of this post).

A nerf for those of us who would make these to farm herbs :(
On the plus side for questers, the cooldown to make them has been reduced to 5 seconds (used to be 10 minutes).

At first i thought the drop rate on Morrowgrain was super low, but as i opened more, i got more... 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 3, 2, 3, then 1. So with 9 herb casings I got all the Morrowgrain I needed for the quest :)

These evergreen herb casings reward your diligent collection of un'goro soil and patronage of thalendris seeds with a small token of vendor trash. its not really worth pursuing, imho...

the evergreen casings are now used as part of the Morrowgrain repeatable quest for increasing faction. Morrowgrain is just one of the possible loots, as well as a few various herbs that I've seen. Not sure what else can drop from them, as the pouch has a 10 minute timer, and I haven't had that many chances to make these...

When you are level 50, you either go to Thunder Bluff (Horde) or Darnassus (Alliance), and talk to the head Druid. I believe this is after you return 10 Un'Goro Soil, in a previous quest. Anyway, he'll commission you to give him 10 Morrowgrain, by using an Evergreen Pouch (object provided upon acceptance of the quest), one packet of Tharlendris seeds (also provided), and two bits of Un'Goro Soil. Each usage takes roughly 5 seconds and gives you an Evergreen Pouch Casing, which opens up into a random herb. Sometimes Morrowgrain (I've gotten as much as 4 Morrowgrain in one casing!), but mostly other herbs (Gromsblood, Kingsfoil, Ghost Mushroom, etc.)

I believe it is the same for both sides. I've only done it for Alliance.

Till now I got only Morrowgrain, Earthroot, Kingsblood, Briarthorn, Mage Royal, Blindweed, Liferoot, Gromsblood and Sungrass from it. Realize that you won't get Morrowgrain in 79,6% of the cases. It's more like 20-30% but it drops in staples of up to 3 or 4 Morrowgrain.

I made our guild's alchemist really happy with my herbs I sent him ;)

The seeds Quintis Jonespyre gives you as a reward are far more than you need so that is quite an income source if you try not to kill mobs for not making XP (what would decrease the rep-income)

I had 5 Morrowgrain after opening my first 2 casings. That's 250%! But I had 7 Morrowgrain total after opening my first 10 casings. That's 70%. Still not accurate.

My point is, you can't estimate statistics accurately until you open a lot of casings. There's too much luck involved. I'm not a statistics expert, but if the true Morrowgrain return rate is somewhere between 50% and 95%, then you probably need to open like 25-50 casings to be reasonably confident of the true rate within +/- 5%.

I am really curious as to whether Herbalism truly helps or not with getting more Morrowgrain. But, we won't know for sure until an Herbalist opens around 30+ casings and announces their experiment results.

Until then, the Thottbot stats above seem not too far off. :)

Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem...has a chat link that i followed. Hes at 78,29

He says it is "more rewarding if you have skill in herbalism" "Those who show more aptitude in herbalism will have more bountiful results."

So guess that means you get MORE of the herbs, but not necessarily better ones.

I dont see how it would be more beneficial to be a herbalist when you can pick them yourself... Surely it would be better for Alchemists?

If you have higher herbalism skill you get higher level herbs from these casings, thus more morrowgrain. A 150+ herbalism skill gives a bigger chance, this is confirmed.

While my character has 0 herbalism, I get casings with 1, 2 or maximum 3 morrowgrain, and ALOT of low level herbs like earthroot n ^&*!

My friends character has 300 herbalism, and she gets casings with up to 5 morrowgrain in it (which I never looted from 1 casing), and all the higher level herbs like firebloom etc

I can tell you this difference is confirmed as we both opened 100's of casings, and the difference in morrowgrain was at least 100 morrowgrain per 100 opened casings !

Have 300 herbalism and the item from ZG to get bloodveins (dont know if that has something to do with it.

I know it's only a few, but im happy so far :D

I'm 300 herbalism and I got mostly lferoot out of these. i used all of teh packets of seeds. 2 goldthorn.. 10 morrowgrain, and the rest were liferoot. i WISH that my trade skill had something to do with this!

Well, I was able to locate the NPC that sells the Evergreen Pouch Its sold by Bashana Runetotem she is in Thunderbluff on the Elder Rise. Facing the rise she is on the right most hut of the right bridge. loc is 71,34.
She also sells the packetof tharlendris seeds.

I sent a load of soil and seeds to an alt and had him buy a pouch, he was level 7 at the time with 34 herbalism and only got very low level herbs, as his level and skill increased he keeps getting better herbs so people need to post their level along with their herbalism if they have it along with their results.

i just had these two items for 15 minutes or so (which I bought at the druid trainer), and it, so far, gave different herbs when used on un'goro soil

As a level 300 herbalist, I have never gotten Earthroot, Briarthorn, or Mageroyal out of these; I have gotten at least a few of each of the rest. Stranglekelp seems to be a particularly common drop, as is Morrowgrain.

You can get better herbs from these if you have +150 herbalism (I though it was just speculation but it is actually true and it is in 1.3 patch notes). If the have high enough herbalism you don't get lowest level herbs anymore and you get higher level herbs and more of them too. Also it seems to work so that the loot in the casings is determined when you open them so you can make bunch of casings while leveling herbalism and open them when you have over 150 skill and you will get better loot from them.
