I currently have a Robe of Power ( https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=7054 ) on my Mage.

If you already have the Robe of Power, then would it really be worth getting the rare and expensive mats to make the Dreamweave Vest? The superior stats of the Dreamweave Vest don't seem dramatic enough to warrant the effort. Wildvine and Heart of the Wild are just too pricey on my server.

If you don't want to go through the hassle of collecting/buying Wildvine and Heart of the Wild there's an alternate robe you can get from a quest chain which is comparable.

Its a Dreamweave Vest which is probably why you think it looks unfinished...

Personally I don't like vests, but this one is just like an upgraded version of the Robe of Power.

The damage increase (1-35) seems to be averaged for instant cast spells. I assume for timed cast spells it will random between 1 and 35.

As for my math:

Renew rank 6 regens 80 per tick. With Dreamweave Gloves and Vest I get 87 per tick. When I add Cassandra's Grace and Hand of Righteousness, I get 99 per tick.

The difference is 12, so to get the % from the second two items (which do not have a random applification) we do:

((44 + 15) / 12) * 7 = 34.something

Rounding this off to 35 will give us the average amp increase of Dreamweave Vest and gloves (which will end up being 70/2, or 35).

Thus, for instant cast spells, you can basically cut the amplification in half when comparing dreamweave to anything else.

It seems like 17.5 is rather inferior to most other amplification items around that level, the stats are trash, and this item looks entirely like #$%^. Conclusion: Get a Robe of Power or Robe of the Magi.

Well, if you Check the WOW Archives on the european WOW forums you will see EXACTLY how the +damage works to spells.

The MAXIMUM level is given to spells that take 3.5 seconds or more to cast.

Cast times less than that get a proportionate amount of the bonus.

IIRC Shadow bolt is a 3 second cast (no talents) and so gets approx 85% of the max bonus.
Talents to reduce casting time DO NOT affect the bonus, so even with 5 talents to reduce the cast time, you still get approx 85% of the max damage.
Insta casts (like CoA) get Very little. Damage over time spells also get their bonus spread OVER THE DURATION of the spell, not on every tick.

Far better IMO for a warlock to go for gear that gives a SET AMOUNT of +damage so that the dots get a large boost.

Something giving +25 damage will work out a LOT better for a lock as ALL spells will get +25 bonus (over the duration of the spell)

Robes of Lich dropped in RFD so i'm wearing those for 'casual' wear then have the dreamweave vest for Q'in and grinding.

The stats are nice, but still.. The "look" is important to alot of people.. Coupled with the gloves at least those match but still prefer robes myself.

I am a full restro druid and finding good healing gear in leather is almost imposable before level 40 and even after then it can be quite the challenge. So I picked up this vest in the AH nice and chap and slapped a +65 to mana enchant on it. I only used it during instanced but it helped a lot with all my other gear I managed to get my + to healing spells up to around 175. I slow down on using it when I got the Jinxed Hooded Jerkin from ZF and finally stopped using it all together at level 51 when I was able to finish my Druid quest for the healing chest peace then I DE this and got my self a nice shard worth 5 gold in the AH.

The fact that you all would base getting or not getting this item on looks is rather pathetic. People complain about Dragonstalker gear and other T1 and T2 sets not looking good....but they still wear it...why? Because the stats are good.

best for a sub twink shadow priest. i'm going to stay 49 for a while for BG's and without 30dmg to weapon or 20 to gloves i will still have 190+shadow dmg from gear. Almost all of the gear i am geting is crafted. Starting with dreamweave set, then shoulders/boots/legs of shadoweave, starbelt, and two bands of the unicorn (sounds gay but are actually damn good rings). Also a hypnotic blade and unbral crystal.

I bought the mats for like 3-4g and got a tailor to make it for 30s. Im on Ravenholdt. Though prices are insanely high on this server on average. 3g for a stack of wool, wtf?

I posted a screenshot (Draenei priest) to show that dreamweave gear can look quite buff in ensemble with shadoweave. And the increase in dps and healing was very noticeable.

Robe of Power has such great stats at level 33 with dam/heal by up to 14 whereas Dreamweave has good stats but you have to be level 40 to wear it... Great stats again with dam/heal by up to 18... It's a toughie but if you're a tailor, I'd go with Robes of Power which are Bind on Pickup and Dreamweave for non-tailors who need dam/heal gear and is Bind on Equip. Hope this helps ^-^

To complete this vest, make sure to slap a +50 health onto it. Only 6 vision dust, not that expensive or hard to come by. Thus...the new stats read

65 armor
+9 Intellect
+14 Spirit
+5 Stamina (50 health)
Equip: Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 18.

Better than the Robes of Arugal, and a very good contrast to the Robes of the Lich or Grimlok's Vestments, especially if you slap a +100 health (+10 stamina) on it instead of just a +50 (+5).

Also, to all those people that don't wanna pay 5-10 gold for the vest, just pick yer lazy ass up and farm the mats.
6 Wildvine is very easy to come by from the Stranglethorn Trolls (Ruins of Zul'Mamwe, 39-44 trolls there). The 30 mageweave cloth drops off the trolls there as well, and if you find the drops lacking, just head to Booty Bay and kill the pirates around the bend (41-45). For the 2 Hearts of the Wild, usually there's some dimwit on the auction house that doesn't know the price and sells 'em for 5 silver each or 25 a stack, just look on the AH for one. Can also be found in Un'goro, killing the tree thingies.
Really, 1-2 hours of work is much more inexpensive to me than spending 5-10 gold on something that doesn't even require super rare mats.

it does work.
it gives an amount of dps: 18/3.5=5.1 dps
with 1.5 sec as minimum(quicker spells gain same bonues) and 3.5 sec maximum(slower spells wont get extra dammage) (spell speed enhancing talents dont lower the bonus)
the bonus on 1.5sec spells is 1.5/3,5=0.42%.
draining spells gain half the amounts(1/2 of + damage spent on damaging 1/2 spent on healing)

I agree that this thing is pretty ugly, at least on the males. Has anyone found a shirt that looks half way decent under this thing? The Orange Martial Shirt is the best I already have a recipe for. And the Orange Mageweave Shirt isn't terrible either, but I was really hoping for something better still.

All the dreamweave items' effects have been changed since the 1.5 patch. It's now "Increases damage and healing done by magical spells and effects by up to 18." instead of 1 to 35. I guess this is fair cuz it could be anything from 1 to 35. This just normalizes it, which is nice.

I tested the effect thoroughly. It does not increase damage or healing, not even by 1 point. So don't buy it if you would buy it for the effect. It's bugged.

Is there a specific spell line considered magical? (Like the Fire spell line for anything increasing fire damage) or does magical apply to ALL spells and effects?

I have tried to look this up and would love it if someone could point me to somewhere that would explain all of this to me.

After the last patch 1.40 the effect on this item was increase to 1-35 so that having the set could get you +70 overall to all magic types.

Definitely worth having now :)
