A reference to Moroes - A Karazhan boss who as anyone who played during TBC knows loved to Garrote random raid members, putting a dot which damage piled up when more people had it if you didn't have a few paladins for Blessing/Hand of Protection.

When he kills a raid member he says 'Oh, I've gone and made a mess!'

--edit: Seems that now they've changed the achi. Rather than being 'Kill boss X before they Garrote X people in the raid' its now 'Defeat the Deathbringer before Mark of the Fallen Champion is cast three times in 10-player mode.' - which isn't really a Moroes reference without the garrote, just the phrase now.

Getting the achievement

Saurfang casts Mark of the Fallen Champion every time he reaches 100 Blood Power. So to get this achi, you just need to kill him before he does that 3 times.
This is done by doing the following:

Keeping your ranged raid members all spread out at least 12 yards apart. Saurfang will be casting Blood Nova on one random ranged member, and it will splash to anyone nearby. Anyone who takes damage from this will give him 1 blood power.
Not letting the Blood Beasts he summons (2 on 10 man, 5 on 25 man) every 30 seconds or so melee anyone. The blood beasts need to be kited/stunned and not land a melee hit on anyone. For each swing they land, they give Saurfang 1 blood power. Recommend using hunter slowing traps, earthbind totems, typhoon etc.
The Rune of Blood will be put on the current tank every 30 seconds or so. When Saurfang melees the tank with this debuff, the tank takes more damage and heals Saurfang. Some places report the healing being negated if you just swap your offtank to a DPS spec, but for this achievement you also need to consider that Saurfang will be dealing 2 sources of damage when he swings a tank with this debuff - his white damage plus the damage proc off the rune, and so he'll be getting 2 blood power per swing instead of one. You can simply have 2 tanks rotate to negate this.

Very unusual achievement, I would be amazed if anyone did not get it on their first Saurfang kill (my raid certainly did) - it would make more sense if the achievement was "Defeat the Deathbringer after allowing Mark of the Fallen Champion to be cast three times" - because realistically, for a group learning the fight, if you get three people marked, you're going to wipe. Letting him mark three people and still finishing him off would be an achievement.

This achievement is extremely easy, and if anyone is questioning how to do the boss fight, get a disc priest in your raid group, have him bubble everyone, and spam heals on whoever gets boiling blood on them. By doing this the boss doesnt recieve any blood power from the damage, and you can actually finish the fight without the boss casting mark of the champion even once.

My guild just finished it without allowing him to cast it even once., 2 tanks, 2 healers, 6 dps, overall raid dps was 28k including tank dps, which is a pretty average group for anyone doing this encounter, everybody was in mostly ilvl 232 gear.

Difficulty 2/10.

If you know what you are doing and have skilled players this is really easy.

Just have your ranged on either side of the platform and DPS down the beasts as soon as possible and it should come naturally. Try not to get to close to your allies or the blood spells will heal and give power to Saurfang.

Do not tank the beasts because every time they deal damage he gains blood power.

Make sure you have your tanks taunt off of each other and DPS him down as fast as possible, because the marks start coming exponentially as soon as the first one goes off.

This is pretty much "A quick shave" V2.0 pre nerf. You pretty much COULDN'T kill razorscale without meeting the requirements for this achievement. No different here. A guild would have to be pretty awesome as well as suck at the same time in order to NOT get this achievement AND kill Saurfang.

With decent enough DPS, and having the Ranged switch to adds and kite them without being hit, he will put out his first Mark of the Champion at about 30%, or his soft enrage. After that he will start picking up Blood Power due to the damage from the Mark, but again ... decent DPS will kill him just barely before he casts a second Mark. (My group got this when he was at 96 Blood Power, about to cast his second one.)

Just make sure not to make the little mistakes that turn this fight into a real pain.

Some tips:

Get a Discipline Priest on your raid. Damage that is fully absorbed by his shields from boiling blood does not add runic power to him. Damage that is partially absorbed DOES add runic power so weak absorb effects will not work.

Have halfway decent tanks. Unles your tanks are asleep (which they probably will be given how boring this fight is),they should swap with 0-1 hits taken each time rune of blood is cast,that is just 0-2 runic power gained for saurfang every 30 seconds.

Have a hunter in the raid. His dps will be severely gimped if he's going to the boss every 30-40 seconds to lay down a frost trap but unless you can spare a shaman that can do the same (and won't miss the earth totem buff much),the slow effect will give your dps more than enough time to kill the adds before they even reach anyone. Distracting shot also works wonders in taunting an add that is far away from you back through the frost trap.

Have everyone spread out as much as possible to avoid Blood Nova linking multiple people. This will be harder if your raid is melee heavy,and especially harder in 25man because of the increased number of people.

Have a Death Knight tank/offtank. After the first blood beasts spawn,your tanks *should* be ahead far enough in threat that the death knight can use his frost runes to cast chains of ice on the adds. Helps a lot,if he can pull it out.

Have plenty of ranged dps. This might work with melee,on our raid though we had 2 locks on one of the adds,2 mages on the other,and a hunter assisting on whatever was needed. Each add died barely having gone halfway to its target.

All in all,a very simple and easy achievement. Simply do the fight as you're supposed to do it,and you should have no problem. On our first kill we did it without Mark of the Fallen Champion having been cast once,and saurfang at ~70 runic power,however we did use everything listed above. Second kill was at 98 runic power before first mark,because we lacked the discipline priest.

This achivement would have been alot harder and require more skill if it was let Deathbringer cast Mark of the Fallen Champion 3 times and defeat him.

This achievement is ridiculously undertuned.

My group is competent but not elite. We killed Festergut(10) for the first time last night and are working on Rotface. But last night we managed to kill Saurfang before he cast his Mark ONCE. That should be the achievement!

It's not a matter of crazy-high DPS, it's a matter of denying him all sources of Blood Power.

He no longer gains blood power off the player that has a mark. This encounter, in my opinion, is much easier than it was.
