If you get this achievement (especially within the next couple of months) you seriously need to rethink your life... This is beyond "hardcore" most sane people would count 50 mounts as hardcore, most sane WoW players I would think would classify 75 mounts as hardcore to nerdy (even by their standards) hardcore.

Like Akumas said most people who even have a shot at 100 mounts would already have all those other special mounts like the ZG tiger and raptor etc. and THEN would have to have other sorces as well such as spending money on outside real world objects. If your not already proud to have the extensive amounts of rare mounts or aren't impressed if you see more then 2 a day and still consider the game to have casual leanings then imo you may have an addiction problem with WoW or need to find a different hobby. IF you are one to also buy cards and stuff to the point where you own both the spectral tiger and the rocket then you probably should have put all that money to a good/better use or were extremely lucky and again should be proud of what you already got and not just assume that because you got it that it is also easily "handed" to other people. These are still only a couple of the rare mounts required that would likely be needed for most people to get to 75 or so...

So yea I have heard a lot of the whining about WoW becoming more casual friendly but if you don't agree this is bordering on the ridiculous side of things (at the moment), maybe you should rethink a couple things about your life...

I just calculated how many mounts you can get with two rare drops added in as alliance (just to see how much that would help out), I got 86 =\

Saw a post about them adding more mounts (yay!) so it'll be a little easier.

While I agree it should not be "easy", it's so ridiculous as it is that "easier" would not hurt at all. 5+ Rare drops? 20k gold mounts? We shouldn't need these to get the achievement, imo.

Also, my little kapcha or whatever it's called ended with QQ, lol. Funny considering I came here to bemoan the difficulty and see if this was going to be a bit more obtainable in the future.

I'm not sure if anyone has their Dragonhawk mount yet but I can assure you that Zoltan(armory) is sure to be one of the first. As of 2-20-09 he has 99/100. This toon is also currently noted to have the most achievement points in the world thanks to the information from wow-achievements.com.

Well I can tell you it's not impossible. I finished this up last week, but you have to be dedicated to get it pre 3.1. I went as far as dropping a profession, making the 2 tailoring and 2 eng ones. I also farmed out Raven Lord and Rivendare's mount. Getting both of the 3 drake sarth mounts and a card game mount finished it off. Even after 3.1 it will take some work and it won't be cheap. The Hodir mammoth, traveler mammoth and Motorcycle suck. IMO the dragonhawk isn't even that cool and the fact that to get it I have to have a 310% and it isn't 310% is really dumb. Does any1 know of a site that would tell who all has this achievement. I have it on Huangzhong-Hellscream and i was wanting to know who all beat me to it. I earned the achievement on 1-31-09. I know of 2 characters who got it before me, Claad-Hellscream, who earned it on 1-21-09, and Warla-Dragonmaw, who earned it on 1-20-09. If anyone knows of anyone who also beat me to the punch, or know of a way to find out for myself(without armorying every character in game).

The worst part was to drop djewel, lvl up tailoring... then drop tailoring in order to lvl up engi...and then (oh, boy) drop engi to get my precious djewel back...

Every expansion pack comes out with new mounts. WotLK came out with plenty of protodrakes, drakes, mammoths, and war bears. Chances are this achievement will be attainable within two expansion packs (that is, without having to blow all your life's savings on trading cards)

Alright, currently I have 75 mounts, and i'm trying to find a macro that specifically mounts me up randomly to any epic flyer I have, but if i'm in an area where I can't use a flyer, it will mount me to any epic ground mount, would anyone happen to know of such a thing, if one even exists?

I got this Achivement 2 days ago and i like to share my strategys, this is how to earn it without haveing a proto drake or buying any trading cards, without spending any gold on expensive Travlers or Hog mounts. It will go alot easier if you have a friend helping you with some of the instances. But remember that i were a Paladin, so that makes me start with 2 mounts already, i also hade the Zehvra mount from Friends in High Places.

First off get exalted with your ''home'' Factions, Thunder Bluff, Undercity etc by doing low lvl quest in each of the start zones and then getting the last few reputation with turning in runecloths.
Daily Things you need to do: Sethekk Halls HC, Maggister Terrace HC, Neterwing dailys, Skettis dailys, Oracles dailys, Sons of Hodir dailys, Wyrmrest accord dailys, Brunnhildar Village daily & Argent Tournament dailys.
Zul'Gurub each 3day as soon reset is up.
Karazhan, it´s just first boss and a dps can tank it with a healer, and i belive most tanks can solo it at lvl 80.

Spare time:

Farm Stratholme in Easter Plaugelands for Deathcharger drops, do a run, go out and reset, make this 4 times, then HS to sell all stuff, run back and keep doing this as long as you have time.

And other thing to do is bring a friend to Temple of Ahn'Qiraj to farm the Red Qiraji Mount, keep killing 3/4 guards run out and then back in.

Do quests, and kill ogres to get exalted with Mag'har in Nagrand.

Make Normal Steamvault runs until you get exalted with Cenarion Expedition to buy the Cenarion War Hippogryph.

Tailoring/Engineering: I choose tailoring first, skilled up to 425, got both mounts, then i removed it and skilled up engineering, this was because i wanted to keep engineering as a proffesion.

Heroic Runs, Don´t forget to put on your Wyrmrest Accord Tabard for faster reputation with them, and your favorite instace is of course Utgarde Pinnacle for Blue proto drake or Timed Stratholme for Bronze Drake, you also farm them for Emblems of Heroism to afford the Wooly Mammuth mount.

Battlegrounds for the pvp marks to buy the pvp mounts.

Gold, Farming. Whatever makes you rich, There are alot of mounts you need to buy, Grand Ice Mammuth is the most expensive mount you will have to buy in this strategy guide

The important things to remember while doing this is that you earn alot of gold also, so don´t get upset each day you don´t get a mount, keep trying and it will eventually drop for you. I know there are alot more mounts but this is the easiest way to get it without haveing to roll on a mount with more then just 1 friend. Would be sad in a raid were Ashes of Al'ar Drops and you roll a 1..

Summary: With ALL mounts except class mounts, as Horde you can get 179 mounts (please correct me if this is wrong). As Alliance, in total, you can get 181 mounts, since they have 2 more unobtainable mounts. Once again, if this is wrong, please correct me. And note that this means ALL mounts, meaning you have to pickup Engineering and Tailoring to get the crafted mounts, buy all old school epic mounts that were available before patch 1.4, have been in the top 0.5% of every arena season, done all raid achievements, gotten all TCG mounts (this will cost you thousands of dollar on Ebay), recruit a friend (or yourself) and last but not at all least, OPEN THE GATES OF AHN'QIRAJ. Likely, noone in the entire world has done all this. So yes, this summary is basically for *!@#s and giggles.

So to make a more logical summary, lets count away the arena mounts and all that ridiculous stuff =P

With only rep mounts, mounts you can buy and the Albino Drake, Red Proto-Drake and Violet Proto-Drake the hardest to get being Red Proto-Drake, you can get 97 mounts. But, if you do Temple of Ahn'Qiraj a couple of times and get the bug mounts there, you can reach 100 without even doing HC achievements for the Red Proto-Drake. With class mounts, the number 100 is alot more easy to reach. So in patch 3.2, the number 100 doesn't seem too hard to reach anymore, thanks to just a couple of mounts Blizzard added. You still have to work hard to reach 100, but you don't have to just be plain lucky with drops etc. to get it. So, there you have it! I will try to improve upon this list as much as I can, so I hope this doesn't get purged right away ;O

Unless I accidentally missed a mount or something this is the full list of mounts in WoW. Remember that this is according to PTR build 10072, so some parts of this list may be subject to change. If you spot any mistakes please mention it in a reply ;) I spent alot of time making this guide, so I hope you have use of it! ^_^ Oh and I tried to make links to all mounts, but since there's a character limit I'm afraid that won't happen. LOL, so many people complaining and being pessimistic about this achievement so early when it's designed to last the expansion. I saw a few people on my realm with it early 3.1 - 2 priests and a rogue but I'm fairly sure they had engineering/tailoring and TCG mounts, possibly discontinued mounts too.

I play a warrior and I'm not going to drop my mining/blacksmithing professions, the only rare or instance/raid mounts I farmed are the White Hawkstrider from heroic Magister's Terrace, Rivendare's Deathcharger from Stratholme, the Red Proto Drake from Wotlk heroic 5-man achievements, the Black Drake from OS10+3 and the Sea Turtle from fishing Northrend schools.

I've lost the roll on the Blue Proto Drake from heroic Utgarde Pinnacle to a druid who's now quit the game, months of hatching Oracle eggs has only left me with a couple common pets, I've never seen the mounts drop in Zul'gurub or Karazhan and the RNG in the daily I do everyday in Stormpeaks still denies me the White Polar Bear but I'll have this achievement early 3.2 after buying every mount except the 16k traveller's mammoth and grinding champion seals at the Argent Tournament. As more come out during this expansion like the Venomhide Ravasaur which will only take around 20 days for Horde to get, this is easily possible.

To clear up some confusion, the red dragonhawk is a 280% speed mount, and not a 310% mount. This is rather sad, since many of us who have accumulated 100 mounts already have a 310% mount in our stable somewhere.

Nonetheless, the very striking red color of this mount makes it as eye-catching as a red Ferrari. None of the screenshots submitted does the vibrancy of the red dragonhawk justice. Yeah, it's slower than a 310% mount, but after having to get to exalted with all major cities, the Mag'har, Netherwing, Sha'tari Skyguard, having to accumulate 450 PVP tokens and close to a thousand Champion's Seals, doing every holiday achievement AND farming for rare mounts... You BET your ass I'm going to ride this thing.

Edit: All mounts now scale to your highest riding skill. This can now fly at 310% if you have:
1. Trained for it
2. Done What a Long, Strange Trip it's Been
3. Obtained a 310% raid achievement mount prior to patch 4.01

Agreed though, it take a lot of time to obtain, I love this model personally and then it's 280%...trying to go somewhere fast for a raid or something I'm more than likely to use my 310% mounts so it almost goes to waste...

this not supposed to be be like any regular mount it is a tribute to someone spending a whole lot of gold time so it isn't like a regular mount it is a status symbol it stands for you playing to much wow so go out and do something and not sit at your comp all day long playing and i know i will never get that mount but i would relay love to have and they should make murlocs a race.no i am just rambling

The two major types of flying mounts in Wrath have been for most patches drakes and proto-drakes (frostwyrms are arguably up there as well, but they've only been available for 1 patch, whereas the others have been available from the start). Of the two, drakes are typically much easier to acquire than proto-drakes.

So, since the 50-mount achievement gives you an albino drake, I always felt that the 100 mount reward should be an albino proto-drake.

I got this achievement yesterday about an hour before my realm went down, so I haven't had much time yet with my Dragonhawk but I sure love it.

I did the following to obtain this mount:

Worked on it casually with little spurts of hardcore grinding for about a year(I created my character about 13 months ago).
Got exalted with Silvermoon City, Undercity, Thunder Bluff, Orgrimmar, Darkspear Trolls, The Sunreavers, The Sons of Hodir, Kirin Tor(for cheaper Mei mounts), The Wyrmrest Accord, The Mag'har, Netherwing, and Cenarion Expedition.
Camped the fabled Time-Lost Proto-Drake in the Storm Peaks for four days, and obtained it.
Got the Wooly Mammoth on Alliance side, transferred to Horde side, and received the Horde version of the Wooly Mammoth through some sort of glitch.
Purchased the Frostwolf Howler and the five PvP mounts for 50,000 honor each.
Leveled Engineering to max and obtained all 3 mounts available from the profession. Also leveled Tailoring to max, made the mounts, and dropped the profession.
Got the black drake from OS103d.
Got the red proto-drake from glory of the hero.
Got 8 mounts from the Argent Tournament.
Got all 4 mounts from Ahn'Qiraj

I did not get any holiday mounts, Traveler's mammoth, violet drake, blue drake(s), twilight drake, no zulian mounts, no raven lord, no 310% speed mounts, no hawkstrider, no retarded horse, no TCG mounts, no amani war bear or currently unobtainable mounts, no blizzcon mounts, no Hodir 8,000g mammoth, and I know I'm missing a few.

My tip? Don't get lazy with this achievement. Go for it all out or give it up. I went on month long spurts where I simply stopped trying to go for this achievement, and I regret it. It seems like it's a long way off but it's really just a huge rep grind. Do all the dailies you can every day, and you'll get it. It's just a matter of time.

I also agree that 100 mounts is just too much. Lower it to 75....just like the companion pets achievement. In a year and a half of playing WoW I have gone from 50 mounts to 80. Really all that's left for me are the 1% drop mounts, mounts that cost thousands of gold each (I have epic flying to buy on other characters, you know.), and mounts from achievements/raids that I cannot do on my server. If I drop another few thousand gold and spend weeks of my life grinding champion's seals, then yes maybe that's another 12 mounts. But even then, I still have another 250 to grind to get all the city tabards, etc...

There's no reason this has to be 100. Pet collectors get it easy in both price and amount, their average purchase is like 10g maximum per pet. Meanwhile I had to just drop 200g per drake fro every colour of netherdrake. It's just silly.

The reward is also very underwhelming, especially for horde when we can get a more vibrant dragonhawk for 150 seals. Now an albino proto-drake, that would be awesome..

For the programmers out there.
I'd like an add-on (Titan Panel preferred) that I can use to select a mount and mount/unmount it. (Frees up an Action slot)
It would also be nice if it could randomly select a mount from the fast/all categories.
