For thoes who still argue that spirit is not for raiding shadowpriests redirect your attention to: iST
Furthermore: You will always have a heal priest with iDS in your raid.

Addtionally the damage done by MF and MB is increased by having your following DoTs on the target:
SW:P
VT
MF (yes this is considered a DoT)
and most importantly
DP. Eat your heart out non-Forsaken (Undead) Shadow Priesties.

Blizzard is giving most caster classes a spirit to spell dmg coef. talent for wotlk and so far most of the caster gear ive seen has spirit on it and resembles more of the pre BC style stat distribution.

This is one of the best new Shadow talents: good Stat-to-spelldamage that will most likely be equivalent to ~165 spell power for a raiding Priest and a straight up 15-20% extra damage from 5 talent points when full DPSing a single target.

This and Misery and Shadow Weaving and bring the percentage modifiers for Shadow damage done to target to +25-30%, along with Shadowform, which multiplies with that.

With such an excellent increase in damage dealt, the change in VT from 5% to 2% may not actually make any significant difference if we're doing so much more damage and Spirit is found so readily on most cloth caster gear.

No, note the key word "your." Otherwise with two affliction warlocks in a raid you would be having a shadow priest that would be hitting for more than double damage. Sadly this applies only to the dots that the priest can apply. However, it is still a superb talent that will really make shadow priests shine (they already are so useful).

they shouldive made it INT, not SPIRIT..

pve priests with spirit gear will dominate pvp shadow priests due to spell damage

there are no priest pvp items that has spirit.. i hope blizzard changes it to intellect, not spirit

all PvP gear for casters i've seen so far has spirit on it. and yes the PvP gear has been released now :)

This talent is probably named for the fact that Spirit would seem to be a more healing-type stat, despite shadow being a dps spec

Is this a joke ? Increasing damage of Mind Flay and Mind Blast when there is Mind Flay on ? This wouldnt happen unless there are 2 SP and even with 2 SP it wont happen often. I hope they will change it this is stupid.

"...if your target is affected by Mind Flay." is, in fact, a typo that just hasn't been fixed yet. It is supposed to be when your target is affected by Shadow Word: Pain, which when you actually think about it will be QUITE good.

If you have 3/3 Pain and Suffering you will never have to recast your SW:P unless it gets dispelled. Therefore, you will constantly have a 10% increase to your MF and MB spells on top of the increased damage from your spirit. This will be a must-have talent for shadow priests, assuming these talents stay the same.

Hey, I was curious if this talent stacks with the Glyph of Shadow Word: Pain, the Glyph gives +10% Mind Flay damage when SW: P is on the target.
Any insight would be great, my priest is only 47 so I can't test it out myself yet.

now grants spell power equal to 4/8/12/16/20% of spirit, up from 2/4/6/8/10%.

With removal of Spirit from DPS gear from 3.3.2 onward toward Cataclysm, I'm curious if blizz is gonna have to mod this talent, or if it's gonna end up being one of those things you take cause there's nothing really better.

Word on WoWhead blogs is that in Cataclysm, Spirit will once again be the most important stat to refill your mana for all situations (raid, pvp, solo...)

This means that this talent will become very useful. It's also likely that it will get nerfed, but you never know...
