It's pretty easy to see that this is going to be a must-have talent no matter what tank spec you take. It isn't too far down the Blood tree, but it's far enough that you'll have to sacrifice some other points from the Frost/Unholy tree if you want to get Imp Rune Tap. Thankfully there are no end-tree talents that are required for tanking from the other trees.

if read at moment it will with talent spec'ed that it will give 17.5% health back for 4 talents that isnt so great if consider all other ability's to get health back but it could be a life saver or with blood aura a very nice move but im not conviced till i play wotlk myself

This will give roughly 15% of your health back for minimal runic power (with https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=49489). With this talent, the cooldown is reduced to 30 seconds.

15%/30sec = 0.5% health per second.

DK's are also going to have amazingly high health. At 70, let's say 10k.
0.5% of 10k is 50 health. A 50 health per second (in combat) regeneration rate leaves no excuse not to get it.

my only beef with this talent is the wording. for the most part when there are 2 percents they are, more often then not, add not multiplied (at first thought i was think 55% health every 30 secs...OMG OP) but 14.5% makes much more sence.

But that being said, it is still an excelent talent (but the other way of adding it would be better lol) and if u have the spare points you should definatly grab it

Also with the Glyph of Rune Tap,it will also heal your party for 10% of their health.Very handy in my opinion.

Ooooooh yes it can crit ! I lvl'ed as blood till 74 (then switch to unholy as I like AoE pulls more..)

That is THE 1 talent I miss. It is simply totally WICKED with the glyph in group PvP !

It can also crit on party members... giving DOUBLE the amount as every DK spell does double effects on crit (gotta love that passive lol )

Yes... that does mean if you have 19k (savage saronite easy to get) life in pvp gear you will heal yourself for 7600 health on a crit . . .

with the talent vampiric blood which increases healing efects u receve by 50% will give u 30% of your total health back :)

It isn't on the Global Cooldown, so it can be used, for example, to quickly get Blade Barrier active at the start of a fight if you're tanking.

Use in wintergrasp with high-stacked tenacity for incredibly OP results. (That +health and +healing buff both work to your advantage...)

so Rune tap gives you 10% of your health back & stack that with Improved Rune tap Rank 3 (10% also plus reduced cooldown by 30 seconds) and Glyph of Rune tap (10% again).

in total thats 30% life Recover..... that amazing also since the normal, unimproved rune tap is 60 second cooldown, that means you would be able recover 60% instead of 10% of your life in 1 minute thats 6x as much power!

I noticed that this spell + glyph is broken.

My DK sits at 28.5k HP (Frost/Blood spec), and I have spec'd into blood specifically for Rune Tap. When used, it heals roughly 2400 HP. Not only that, but the Glyph of Rune Tap is obviously not working and/or its tool tip is broken. When mousing over the Rune Tap spell, it reads that it heals 11% of total HP. What happened to the other 9% from the glyph? This is true up to patch 3.1.2. So glyphing Rune Tap is not worth it right now. Guess I will try Glyph of Death Strike instead for a better self heal potential.

This is probably very obvious, but it's worth noting that this skill is absolutely excellent for weapon skill-ups, particularly when talented (Improved Rune Tap) and glyphed (Glyph of Rune Tap).

Does anyone know if rune tap and/or death pact healing can be reduced with wound poisen,mortal strike,aimed shot heal reduced bonus?

I gotta say I really love glyphed Rune Tap....In Soviet Russia, tank heals you!

I gotta get an appropriate mod going to check, but I have heard that yes, this will generate threat like any other heal

Rune Tap and Glyph of Rune Tap is currently bugged (at least in combination with Dancing Rune Weapon) and results in ridiculous amount of HP healed

Strangely, using this ability can grant a weapon skill-up as if you performed a melee swing.
