(Challeging Howl)
(Demon Charge)
(Immolation Aura)
(Shadow Cleave)

/run PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Illidan\\BLACK_Illidan_13.wav");

A 600% armor increase gives you a total of 7x your armor (your 100%+600%). In PvP gear you get beyond 2000 armor (burning crusade values, but even if the VALUE of the armor you get increases on Wrath, most likely the % OF DAMAGE REDUCTION will remain the same), which means 2000x7=14000 armor.

Warriors are gonna hate this immensly, and so will rogues, since its "free" resilience, gives an insane 50% stun duration reduction and increases your damage by 20 %, a damage they wont be able to heal. This is going to be incredible.

I wonder what spec will be the most used for pvping warlocks on wrath, so many insane spells coming up...

also, for the duration, you will be forced to speak demonic.

Комментарий от hpavc

Can someone please comment on what effect the armor increase has if any on the pet's amour? So when you gain the bonus what numbers are getting translated to the pet.

Obviously this isn't making the pet uncrushable, but it would be nice to get the voidwalker near the armor cap perhaps.

20% damage increase might be useful for PvE warlocks. Demonic pact is already a highly valuable raid talent. Timing this right with a blood lust or other raid buff or proc could potentially out-weigh devastation.

Beware of Paladins, Exorcism and Turn Evil are not your friends.

Thorment

Ok this may sound stupid... but is it actually possible to enslave another warlock while he/she's in their demon form?.. I think it should be possible untill the buff wears off..

I just tried this out for the first time today, i wish they would just remove the duration and make it constant, that would be amazing... Or at least make it a bit longer, like 1 min. and a half, 30 seconds isn't long at all for this spell

Комментарий от marcimi

Hey Demons,

this talent has been updated in 4.0 but this post not. This mistake has been fixed now :)

Blue skies,

Marcimi

Orginal Post:

If you spent 51 31 talent points in to the demonic tree, you'll be able to transform into a demon every 3 minutes. While you're transformed, you'll get the following benefits:

Your armory increased by 600%
Your damage increased by 20%
Reduces the chance you'll be critically hit by melee attacks by 6%
Reduces the duration of stun and snare effects by 50%
You're able to reduce the cooldown with Impending Doom (Rank 2 Rank 3)
Your demon is still active
You can cast any of your spells while in demon form
Additionally, you're able to use the following abilities while in demon form:

Challeging Howl
An aoe mass-taunt, similar to the warrior's Challeging Shout.
Demon Charge
A simple but powerful Charge.
Immolation Aura
An aura, which deals an heavy amount of fire damage to all enemies within range for 15 seconds. Semilar to the paladins Consecration and the Immolation Aura of your own Inferno.
Shadow Cleave
A cleave, that hits up to 3 targets in front of you and deals shadow damage.

You appearance changes to something more evil than a tiny gnome :)
You have one of the coolest abilities in the World of Warcraft. Use it and kick ass!
While you're a demon you're forced to speak demonic. Let's have a talk with Illidan the demonic way!

Demonic talking isn't allowed in group and guild chats. Blizzard forces us to speak normal in our group and guild chats :(

Some usefull informations

Mounting automatically cancels the form
~~While you're a demon, you are vulnerable to Turn Evil and Exorcism. Paladins are not your friends anymore. And they can instant fear you with Glyph of Turn Evil. That's evil, demon!~~
Holy Wrath does not stun us.
By the way, all enemy warlocks can banish us in demon form but we can not be enslaved.
The damage done by your melee attacks while transformed is based on your skill with whatever kind of weapon you have equipped. If you're like most casters, your weapon skills are probably very low, so melee attacking while metamorphed won't hurt very much. (Thanks to Cross88)
Demon form ignores all weapon skills. In addition, you appear to gain 2 AP from each point of strength instead of 1 (I haven't tested this extensively). This is very similar to druid forms. However, you do inherit your swing speed and melee damage directly from your weapon... meaning faster weapons make you attack faster but do less damage. The +20% damage bonus is also applied to your melee damage. The damage you do with your auto-attack demon punches is pure melee. (Thanks to scientician)
If you want to use the modifier in a macro, be advised that demon form is stance 2, not stance 1. (Thanks to monotonerobot)
You can find your Metamorphosis spells by clicking the Demonology page of your Spellbook. Demon Leap and Immolation Aura are added, and they have the word "Metamorphosis" below them in dark text. (Thanks to NukeAlleria)
If you /kneel. you will be in the same pose if illidan while holding the skull of gul'dan.. but there's no skull in your hand.. and when you press x after this a awesome thing happens.. you look at the direction your facing before you typed /kneel (when you /kneel you face the right side of the direction your facing before /kneel) then rise up slowly.. plain awesomeness
edit: after rising up you also extend your right wing alittle (Thanks to Deathnitey)
While transformed you can speak to other transformed warlocks - even with warlocks from the opposing faction. I bet you have other things to do if you ever meat an enemy warlock :)

Feel free to add more informations about this!

So this 20% increased damage... melee AND spell damage? It just seems like my natural reaction with a move like Shadow Cleave and Immolation Aura would be to run in and smack things, but i'm not sure how this works most effectively yet

If you want to have some fun make this macro:

Комментарий от 137993

Just a heads up to anyone who was expecting the same thing I was. When you use this, you dont get a new hotbar with the demon abilities like warriors stances or rogues stealth. you actually have to put the powers on your bars.

I guess my question to the whole demo tree to reach this point is I have PVP Dreadweave gear on and not Felweave which would increase your crit chance a lot..

my crit chance at the moment is at 8.9% which is very low, and I only thought that shadow bolts and destro had the spells to crit.. Are you telling me that Corruption, CoA, and other drain spells have crits to them?

I only ask, becuase I was always told that DoT's are not critable.. Hense this would be a great thing for a PVP Dreadweave built Lock with crit gems .. but I was a SL/SL Drain lock.. which I'm now getting wiped pretty easily.. please explain this to me...

Abomb

ok think about the armor bonus this way, bear form feral druids tank in BT cuz 370% with lether is about how much armor a warr tank would hav so if this gives u 600% armor increase could hav a lock tank lower lvl instances for 30 sec then soulshatter and hav a tank pick up for rest of the fight, not to mention pvp :)

Do you melee with what-ever weapon you have equipped, or is it like druid melee forms (fixed damage based on level/gear)?

This form is extremely vulnerable to paladins and their holy magics.

What i really dont like about this ability is that it doesn't come with a new actionbar...

druids who shapeshift get new actionbars for each shape

my warlock has enough issues having all of his regular spells on the actionbars - with a new handfull WHICH MUST be readily avaliable for use when demonized, then this is quite unhandy

In this form, you speak Demonic. Assuming you can understand other Warlocks in Metamorphosis while you use this form, can Alliance/Horde Warlocks speak to each other during the 30 seconds you're Metamorphed?

Ok, so you can be banished and feared while in this form. But what about using Every Man for Himself? Will that work, or will it undo transformation?

Edit: just tested it out. Every Man for Himself will not cancel out transformation.

The before poster doesn't mean the Curse of Tongues. He means that while in the demonic form, one will begin speaking in the demonic tongue and able to understand it.

probably. You could do that when we were all speaking "zombie" so I see no reason why not.

When you click a Flight Path person while in Demon form, metamorphosis automatically gets removed.

IMHO, this should've been a form like the Druid's rather than a hyper-powerful 45-second thing. I would've found that more appealing. But it's still pretty dang good. :)

this spell is pretty good for soloing purposes like in Zul'Drak the quest where you need to kill those mobs on that platform. theres a bunch there so u can just follow this to make killing groups faster:
first go into Meta

now add on Immolation Aura
now pick up a bunch of mobs and use Rain O' Fire to kill them all in a explosion of fire!

Leduan

Nice spell.

It's not 7x your armor, 600% of your armor is your armor times 6. And I'm pretty sure that they mean your base armor, because when I transform, I don't have over 100% of resistance. It only went up to 52% or so.

Armor has diminishing returns. You can never actually get above 75% damage reduction, no matter how much armor you have. Conversely, notice that you have more than 9% (52%/6) reduction when not in Demon form.

Edit: The post I quoted was deleted.

Комментарий от GhostFlight

I was really hyped about this spell but I really wish we didnt get knock back while in this form, Its really annoying to turn into a demon just to watch your spell bar dance around

You keep your current hotbar when you change forms, so if you want to use your Demon Form spells you'll either need to keep them on your main bar or have a seperate hotbar that has the spells on it.
If you opt for the second bar, use this macro:

(Optional) #showtooltip Metamorphosis
/script CURRENT_ACTIONBAR_PAGE = (# of your main hotbar)
/script ChangeActionBarPage (# of the hotbar with your Demon spells)
/cast Metamorphosis

It swaps your hotbars so that you can use your Demon spells right away. However, you'll still have this bar when the duration runs out, so I suggest making another macro using the above /script commands, only with the bar numbers switched (if there's a way to make it automatically switch back after you lose the buff, I haven't found it yet).

Stormwaker

This isn't a gamebreaking issue, but several abilities related to race aren't usable while in this form. For example, the Undead's Cannibalize spell. It'll say "Must be in Ghoul", no I didn't leave out form, that's what it says.

One more cool thing, while u use Metamorphosis you can't be sheeped or sapped cause you are demon:)

I find it interesting that in PvE terms, this makes you uncritable, gives you ~14000-20000 armor in lvl 213+ epics, and an AoE taunt. I guess it could be an "oh %^&* the tank died" button, but with a 30 second duration, no way you could really tank physical attacks for long. As I said, its just interesting that while active you receive stats similar to a poorly geared tank (its mainly the fact they gave the 6% crit redux that makes me think)

No, John. You are the demons

Shadock

okay l wanna ask this: We now know that warlocks can banish these and paladins can do turn evil. But can we get rid of banish or turn evil if we right click cancel the metamorphosis buff? Im not stating anything, l just wonder...

Love this spell. If i am overrun by mobs... just pop this skill, quickly cast immolation aura, then shadow cleave a bit... they'll die very fast. use seed of corruption too is they're a bit though. very good to farm huge mobs. every 3 minutes. :p

30 sec is too short imho... but i guess u can't get this much damage with this CD and duration.

If your tank is dying in a 5-man and there's still a bunch of mobs left just pop this, put on Immolation Aura, use Challenging Howl, then either spam RoF or SoC

Metamorphosis was the Ultimate Ability of the Demon hunter in Warcraft 3.

Since Warlocks who are very talented in Demonology can turn into a Demon it seems like chances for a Demon Hunter Hero Class shrink.

According to the Patch notes for PTR 3.1.0, New Talent: Nemesis: Reduces the cooldown of your Demonic Empowerment, Metamorphosis, Soulstone and Fel Domination spells by 10/20/30%.

If you are using necrosis, it should remove a whole lot of situational spells from your hotbars (Demon summons, banish/enslave, demon armours) I recently started using it and found that i have saved a LOT of room on my action bars

Also new glyph: Glyph of Metamorphosis: Increases the duration of your metamorphosis ability by 6 seconds

Probably one of the best things about this glpyh, is if you pop immolation aura as soon as metamorphosis, you should be able to squeeze in an extra 6 seconds of immolation aura, as it's CD is only 30 seconds!

Can anyone who is currently specced into this answer me this?

Question: If you use the ability and metamorphosis fades, does the immolation aura still fade, even if its duration hasn't run through?

Intensity 2/2 is a most for a AoE Demon lock
just meta and i a 5 death combo
Meta>>Shadowflame&Cleave>>Immolation Aura>>Rain of fire
combo above sucks ass with out this 2 TP
there for this is a most for me and i end up Being oom if i try to keep Rain of fire going, remember u dont have 1 hitting but 4-5 and since ur pulling alot of agro multiply .15 per hit they do (x4-5) my rain of fire lasted like 2 secs.... but not with this baBY! my DPS is always burst every 3 mins to 4k DPS that or do 50% if not 60% DMG of that mob pull!

Most locks Die attempting this cuz they lack the Stamina or defence rating my lock has 31k HP with my own buffs and my Metamorphosis reaches 21k armor (thats almost 60% dmge reduction) in order to reach this God like stats for a demon u have to make some SP sacrifices.
thats why i have 2 sets DPS set with 2600 SP and my Stamina set, when my Metamorphosis is ready i switch from my "squishy" gear to my "tank" gear and i go there and kick some ass, healers dont have a problem at all keeping u alive cuz u have over 36k HP with Fortitud and Druid armor or Kings (i hit 42k raid buff) and i use Demon armor on top of that (fel armor is nice with over 800HPp/5 but 15-20k heals is alot better) also healer seem to love to heal me and brag they did a 17k crit heal on me lol
most a healer has healed me in a single heal is 24k heal (0_o)

Its a fair trade when it comes to repair bill and surviability, u can be crazy and go suicidal to do this on fel armor and DPS set.... how ever the ending can be very SAD..... i only do this when Soulshatter is up.
i made a macro for this, its my "holy !@#$" macro it uses all posible heals Pot/HS and shatters a shard. (life saver)
another good macro is my "getaway" macro where u take all heals Pot/HS and u teleport out gives healer time to heal you.

also when u have this 35k HP set ur pet can tank heroics bosses, yes i have had my pet tank several bosses and kill them (ofcourse u need the right TPs)
a fine example is the boss on UP the 3rd boss the 1 on the wyvern that u have to use Harpoons to get him down, well tank died..., then he squished the mage and the hunter in a heart beat it was me and the healer (tanking a heroic boss would of never been possible with out the Epic healer i had! Slim)
we tank and spank his ass!
I kept CoW on him and CoC and Health Funnel At all times! and healer spaming heals on my pet (pet would of died if i didnt had 35k hp) a regular lock as 18k hp that makes ur FG have 15-16k my FG pumped 32k HP he was under imp Health funnel 30% less dmge 2/2 And Demonic resiliance 3/3 this is very possible and Do able its hard to believe but u have to see it to believe it.

Actually , it's use Curse of Tongues, and only AFTER, metamorphosis. If you cast spells while in this form you get it's effect dispelled.
This of course except the unique abilities.
Also for those not noticing it, this is Illidan's demonform in purple skin and purplefel magics (:P)
Note that it is NOT identical, but really close to it.
Illidan
Has a skirt-thing
curved-up horns
nothing on his face
green felmagic

warlock demonform
doesnt have a skirt
front-headed horns
stripes (?) on his face
something above his head - weird but looks like a Kirin'Tor sign.

I don't know if anybody noticed this or not but 6% crit reduction chance is the limit that you've got to achieve to be uncrittable by lvl? bosses. this coupled up with a bunch of armor might mean that Blizz might soon implement encounters which require warlock tanks (just like the Twin Emperors fight from the AQ40)

I know this post was old, but a few things are different now:

+ Demon form ignores all weapon skills.

+ Your melee crit chance becomes your spell crit chance, which means if you have a 28% spell crit chance to then your melee attacks also have a 28% chance to crit. If you don't believe me, pop Metamorphosis and page back and forth between the melee and spell pages.

+ The 20% damage bonus is also applied to your summoned demon. 722 base DPS felguard FTW!

+ Even though spell power enhances shadow cleave damage, it does not alter your base melee damage (punching will be for your normal weapon damage plus whatever little bonus from strength you can get). Shadow cleave damage is not affected by weapon damage or swing speed in any way. I am unsure about attack power.

+ Mounting automatically cancels the form.

+ Demon Armor's effectiveness is not increased by 600% while in demon form. The 600% armor bonus from Metamorphosis applies to armor from items only. The Demon Armor armor spell adds the same amount of armor that it does for Metamorphosis as it does in normal form.

Metamorphosis is so versatile. You can use it from range for a flat 20% damage booster every 2 minutes, or get up close and personal with some very serious PbAoE damage. If you do plan on using this ability in raids, be sure to read up on melee characteristics for boss fights and take note of any AoE or melee-like things you need to avoid. The easiest way to get good at this is to find a good Rogue, and whenever you want to perform some melee-range combat just make sure to follow him precisely and position yourself exactly the way they do.

As others have noted, you do not get a new action bar with metamorphosis even though it appears in the stance bar (just like shapeshifts for druids, stealth for rogues, shadowform for priests, etc). Since all of your abilities can be used in demon form, another action bar is somewhat redundant anyways.

In addition, the demon form is the first real form I found where Hellfire is somewhat useful. When the situation presents itself, pop the metamorphosis cooldown, shadow cleave, immolation aura, demon burp (shadowflame), and Hellfire. The amount of PbAoE damage is downright scary, and because of soul link Hellfire won't kill you (immediately, anyways).

You know, despite all the cool spells with this talent, the cooldown from Metamorphosis kinda kills it. Sure there's talent points to reduce it a bit and glyphs to increase the duration but it's still not enough...

I mean cmon, 36 sec is not that great for an end game talent point is it? At least that's my opinion. Maybe if they bring back shadow bolt volley, but as it is right now I find it's a little to weak compared to other classes (a.k.a. : https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/spell=50334). Sure most end game ones have cooldowns but a druid that hits Berseker can easily drop a warlock (from a demonology point of view that is, affliction and destruction it's no problem).

Nobody has to agree with me but I find you shouldn't bother with this talent at all!

Affliction and destruction rule and if you can find a combination of the two that works for you, even better!

If you /kneel. you will be in the same pose if illidan while holding the skull of gul'dan.. but there's no skull in your hand.. and when you press x after this a awesome thing happens.. you look at the direction your facing before you typed /kneel (when you /kneel you face the right side of the direction your facing before /kneel) then rise up slowly.. plain awesomeness
edit: after rising up you also extend your right wing alittle

Hm, the tooltip for Shadow Cleave is worded weird. Does it mean your allies or the enemy's allies? I doubt the tank would be very happy if it damages friendlies. (Not that, of course, I would use Demo in raids anyway)

Has anyone tried using Meta and Immolation Aura, followed up with a Voidwalker's Sacrifice and Hellfire?

Sounds scary.

If you ask me its a real shame you can't fly with Metamorphosis in the Outlands, Icecrown, or the soon to be all of Azeroth. I understand how overpowered that sounds yes, but for what its worth Blizzard should enable this awesome spell for a nifty flying mount until the end of its duration and as long as you remain out of combat or else we’ll be bombarded by flying warlocks casting curses left and right. I mean after all what good/fun are wings if you can’t use them? Would also be freaking epic for Demon Hunter RPers.

Does this spell invoke the GCD, and can it be cast during GCD?

Go mine some ore with this on and watch what happens. Makes me think that everyone should have equipped mining picks during TBC to slay Illidan.

um... I know it says "20% damage increase" but is that only on melee or does that include spells? No one has specificly said and I would like to be sure.

Can 2 Warlocks of opposing factions talk to each other while under the effect of this ability?

I know you can cast a Curse of Tongues on an enemy player, and HEAR what he says while being a demon. (You can't talk back).
But when they both are demon, they should be able to talk back, right?

This is usefull on RpPvP realm to talk to a rival guild; You can also blend this into RP.

Some more tidbits of information on this, Bartender is very nice for making a new bar come up when you go in this form (no more spots taken up on your normal bar for meta), rogues and other classes can go through your BASE armor (without your base armor 600% of 0 is still 0) so all you'll have is your Demon Armor. This form puts right you at or above the res cap, I do believe your melee attack scales with your SP cause I've smacked around a few melée classes with just my auto melee before (could someone confirm this for me please? I might be wrong), the 600% armor increase also increases armor given from enchants (tested it with my engineering tinker for armor increase on the gloves), I do not believe that the 20% increase in damage applies to damage causing trinkets (didn't see an increase on my Lightning Generator), going into this form doesn't trigger the GCD nor does Shadow Cleave but all the other demon abilities do, and as posted previously if a priest casts Levitate on you while you're in this form, you'll start a flying emote flapping wings and everything).

Personally I love this for pvp and pve, for pve I use a meta/ruin build and for pvp I use the cookie cutter 12/51/8 and I personally prefer Fel Armor in both situations. In pve even with the meta/ruin build you won't be the best dps in a raid situation (except when it's aoe heavy) but you'll still be loved none the less by handing out the Demonic Pact buff, and the meta form must be carefully played in pvp or else you'll become CCed for the duration, become the center of attention and be bursted down faster than you can charge, or end up chasing a foe down for the duration that meta is up and end up fighting the foe when you become squishy again. Also remember, you can use Challenging Howl to bring stealthed players out of stealth (mainly useful against rogues and druids)

EDIT: Corrected some information.

question: what does casting metamorphosis do to your default casting animation? does it still do the same pose while casting, or does it shift to another race's animation?

This seems to prove that warlocks are based on Ganondorf from The Legend of Zelda. think about it. i will point out the similarities.

1. In Ocarina of Time, Ganondorf flys around shooting giant gold/green fireballs at you (Fel Flame coming in Cataclysm).
2. After Link destroys the castle, Ganondorf comes back to life (in WoW this would be due to a Soulstone) and transforms into Dark Beast Ganon ( a demon. Metamorphisis anyone?)
3. Ganondorf wasn't always bad, just like Warlocks. Warlocks are corrupt Magi. Ganon is... welL i don't really know his problem

please don't downrate this comment. i'm just pointing out things

Put it in a macro with this:

/run PlaySoundFile("Sound\\Creature\\Illidan\\BLACK_Illidan_13.wav");

The sound played is from Illidan, "Behold the power of the demon within!"
