On this quest you kill any of the Hellboards. These items will drop:

It's important to note that once you have 8 tainted hellboar meat the meat seems to stop dropping - you have to attempt to purify what you have, before more meat drops.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but after about 10 attempts, none of the meat I'm "purifying" is become pure, it's all toxic meat. Personally, they should have made either the drop rate, or the purification rate 100% chance. Having to be lucky to get the drops, then REALLY lucky to purify the meat... that's just horrible for people like me.

Be careful on this one, if you have a full inventory and attempt to purify the meat you will lose the resultant meat, be it purified or toxic

I had to kill 41 just to get enough purified meat, not counting the countless that didn't drop meat at all.

Bottom line...be prepared to kill a whole lot of helboars...

Been killing helboars for 40 minutes now without getting more than 3 purified meats, I guess it's some bug or something because I did this with my main a while a go and got just purified ones...

Blizzard may have increased the drop rate on them from the last patch I did a little over half the quest req. at the Helboars near the quest giver and I was getting a purified one every time.

The area around the quest giver has many Deranged Helboars to kill. They drop the Tainted Helboar Meat, which can be purified with the quest item given to you. But as the item says you "attempt" to cleanse the meat, therefore you are not guaranteed a Purified Helboar Meat. Luckily for us, the drop rate of the tainted meat is very high.

Simply kill the Deranged Helboars in same area as quest giver. I did this and had about a 90%-ish drop rate on the meat (Dunno, I'm not a mathematician, but i killed 23 Helboars and recieved 17 pieces of meat). In addition, the rate at which the meat purified seemed fairly good, about 50% (took 17 trys to get 8 pieces). I don't claim to be lucky, or unlucky when it comes to drop rates, and at any rate, I don't think luck really figures into a mathematical equation, which is what this is.

They must indeed have changed both the droprate of the meat and the chance of getting it purified.

I remember doing it on my druid awhile ago, it was a pain in the ass, this time though i got 10/11 meats and 8/10 meats purified.

I will say this the coords given seem to have a decent rate of return on the meat converted. I started outside falcon watch to get blood at the same time, on 8 meats all 8 were bad. I then went over to the coords and I was more like 50% conversion rate.

mm, i don't have much more to say than anyone has said before me, the drop rate is very low i had 8 purified and 16 toxic, i killed the boars to the east and south of the quest giver, you get quite nice skins from the boars though.

This quest, like so many others, is a menace, but can be made less so by keeping the following in mind:
• The Helboar can be found around 26,40 in a large group. Watch out for the Fel Reaver
• Pairing these quests: Helboar, The Other White Meat and Demonic Contamination spares the lives of about a thousand additional Helboars.

For non-Americans: The name of this quest is a reference to an advertising campaign launched by the meat industry proclaiming pork "The Other White Meat" to combat the widespread perception of it as an unhealthy food.

i had a 64% drop chance from the hellboars near the quest giver got my 8 purified from 21 attempts so around 35%

After patch 2.3, it appears the drop rate for this quest was improved. As I did this quest, boars seemed to have a 100% chance of dropping the . The conversion rate to purified meat remained about 40-50%.

Anyone else notice this, or was I just insanely lucky this time?

Hmm I don't know if it's just coincidence, but I was having a really hard time getting purified meat out of all the meat I was collecting. The moment I stopped using poison-like abilities, the purified meat started showing up allot more frequently. Wasn't there a quest similar to that in Azshara?

Trick to this quest is...

Don't use the Purification Mixture whenever you pick up a piece of meat. Use it after you have picked up 1-3 meats.

I noticed that if I used it after I picked up 1 meat, only having 1 meat in my inventory, it hardly ever worked. But nearly EVERY time I used it with 2-3 meats in my inventory, it worked.

Just food for thought.

An alternative way of pairing this quest with another is A Job for an Intelligent Man. You'll most likely start killing boars close to the goblin camp; if you work your way up to the road that leads west out of Honor Hold, you can mix business with more business.

Or you could do these two *and* the blood sample quest at the same time and triple your pleasure.

Another thing to note is that you have to have a few free bag spaces to do this quest. While the purified meat will stack, the toxic meat doesn't. Even if you end up getting the purified meat, you can't use the flask if your bags are full!

All in all, this quest went much smoother 4th time around. I think I had to kill like 25 boars to get the meat I needed.

One way to make this quest a little easier: Kill a large number of Helboars, loot their meat, but don't purify it as soon as you get it. Once you have a good amount, purify all of them; you might be able to get all 8 in one session.

here's a weird one to know: You can purify more meat than the quest needs, but you cant' do anything with the meat. I was curious and converted all the tainted meat I had. Ended up with three leftover after the quest.

While you can vender the toxic meat, you can't vendor the purified meat. Meanwhile, I'm a lvl61 hunter and my cat wouldn't eat the food. It seems it's completely useless, so throw away any extra you may have.

i found a massive flaw in this quest its not a ridiculously big one but its one none the less.

make sure i have one purified meat and one tainted in your bag in your bag then fill your bags full of any thing.
now try to purify your meat if its tainted it will say your bags are full, dont throw anything away.
go and grab another tainted meat then try to purify it if it works it stacks with the other purified meat and also the one before has reseted and can also have a chance of purifying.

i did this and ended up getting 4 purified meat in a row which made it faster for me =]

Confirmed the boars drop the Tainted Helboar meat 100% but the conversion rate for Purified Helboar meat is pretty bad. I ended up with 26 Toxic Helboar meat.

Confirmed. This is around my 5th time doing this quest while leveling, and for the first time I didn't pull my hair out in frustration over the low conversion rate. They did buff it, not 100% based on previous comments, but they did buff it.

Droprate was around 70% for me. Got 19 toxic and 8 purified meat. I think exp is still good, 'cos you get around 1000xp with rested for each helboar.

Seriously... This quest was easy, I killed about 20 odd helboars used the potion until I had 8 purified and job done. The helboars are really easy to fight (I was fighting them as an affliction lock at level 59), They enrage when they get to about 20-25% health, but apart from that they don't have any special attacks that I noticed, they don't hit all that hard for the level either :)

Just quick thing to add - it seems once you have 8 of the meat drops in your inv - they stop dropping them.

So what I did was get 8 - then tried them all. Then I went and killed 8 more and tried those. Basically took me about 16 kills to get all the purified meat.

I got this quest completed after killing only 20 of Deranged Helboars/Starving. I can't find any drop from 'standard' Helboars in Blasted Lands.

There's a pretty big chance to get Toxic instead, just keep trying and you'll get the right one eventually :) This is located a bit north of where they are, there's lots of pigs there :)

Whilst doing this quest, i noticed a strange pattern taking form:

Whenever i got 1 tainted hellboar meat and tried to purify it, i got the toxic meat, but if killed a couple of hellboars, got about 4x tainted meat, and then tried to purify it, i got the purified meat on 3 out of 4 pieces meat.

Try getting about 15x tainted meat and -then- try to purify it all. Might work better than doing it one at a time

Did this quest as well. Found the drop rate pretty decent. Think I killed about 20 boars to get the 8 purified helboar meat. I just killed the ones that are around the crash site...

Combine this quest with Shizz Work and possibly Demonic Contamination
to get the most out of your Helboar killing spree.

the Demonic Contamination quest seems to require specific mobs--Hulking Helboars, but the tainted meat will drop off of any Helboar mob in the area. You can try and purify the meat whilst you look for Helboar Blood Samples and the Shredder Key.

Unless you just want to grind Helboars separately for each of 3 quests, I recommend combining these three quests.

How To Do This Quest:
- Talk to Legassi at the Zepplin Crash (49, 74)
- Accept the quest Helboar, the Other White Meat
- Go and kill any type of Helboar
- Get the quest item Tainted Helboar Meat from a Helboar
- Use the Purification Mixture on the Tainted Helboar Meat by right clicking it
- Turn in the Quest At Legassi After You Have Gotten 8 Purified Helboar Meat

Rewards:
- 9800 Experience
- 5 Helboar Bacon
- 2 Gold
- The Quest: Smooth As Butter

How I Did This Quest:
- Talked to Legassi, Accepted the quest, Killed Deranged Helboars just around the Zepplin Crash, Got the meat, and Turned it in

My Results:
Helboars Killed: 19
Total Tainted Helboar Meat Recieved: 15
Amount of Toxic Helboar Meat Gotten: 7
Amount of Purified Helboar Meat Gotten: 8

Drop rate is low. It took me over an hour to get the 8 pieces of meat, as opposed to 20 toxic pieces of meat. Seems typical of the Outland quests so far--either way too fast to complete or takes forever to complete.

the best trick to ALWAYS get purified meat:

have only 2 free slots in bags (split stacks to fill the slots). when u get the first purified meat, close (or, if u got some, replace the unpure meat) the last free slot. now if u get a nonpurified meat, u will get the message "inventory full", as i can not use any slot..but! the meat will not be used ;) continue to get purified meat as u have the "purified meat slot"...yay!

Its not 100% drop rate, but more like 80%. It takes a while to get this and kill the boars so just know its not a quick quest to complete. Kill the Hulking Helboar at the same time and complete the quest Demonic Contamination.

I am very annoyed by this quest. The drop rate is ok for the Tainted Helboar Meat, but the rate I am getting the purified meat sucks. I am in the middle of the quest now, 4 purified and 10 toxic. Bleh, guess it's okay if you have rest XP built up...

I usually just use this quest to hunt down boars while im running around to complete other quests. That way you dont get aggravated when you see a lousy "conversion" rate.

btw, any boar in Hellfire dropped em for me

I have mixed feelings about this quest.

- Based off my vendor trash, I killed 36 Deranged Helboar to get the 8 good bits of meat (so a 22% overall droprate). Soloing it made it feel like half that droprate.

- Keep your vendor trash. The quest reward is 2g, but you'll more than double that by vendoring the trash (I got 3g20s for my 36 pieces). It's not that it's spectacularly valued vendor trash... it's just there's only 2 types, so it stacks nicely & you'll have plenty of them by the end.

- Find a skinner who wants to farm & group/cooperate with them. It'll make both your lives much easier. I play horde on a PVE server & I've helped at least 5 or 6 alliance guys finish this quest before. At one point 2 alliance guys I helped both completed the quest in under 15 minutes despite the droprate... with three people you basically never need to stop to eat/drink/recharge & two people will only need to rarely, hence the droprate becomes significantly less irritating.

To complete this quest you need to gather 8 Purified Helboar Meat.

First of all you need to collect Tainted Helboar Meat from helboars, they can be found for all around the quest givers. Beware of wandering Fel Reaver, it patrols across this area.
After collecting some Tainted Helboar Meat use provided Purification Mixture. A piece of meat turns into either Purified Helboar Meat or Toxic Helboar Meat.
Repeat until you got enough Purified Helboar Meat to complete the quest.

I inadvertently found this out since my inventory is usually always full, but when you purify the meat with a full inventory since the toxic helboar meat can't fit you can just keep purifying the same meat until it's the Purified Helboar Meat. Doesn't work once you have only 1 left since the Toxic Hellboar Meat can just replace the slot in your bag with your last Tained Helboar Meat.

As of 9/29/21 Quest is bugged on TBC Classic. I was able to get 6 purified meat, but now when I go to purify any of the meat from helboars using the purification mixture, the item disappears and I don't even received a failed toxic helboar meat the item just disappears. Killed over 40 boars, and same problem recurs.

EDIT: The issue seems to be when you try to purify a sample and only have one sample in bags. When I killed around 5 helboars and then used the purification mixture, it worked and gave me 3 purified samples.

Spent almost a hour just trying to get first purified. Was purifying as i got tainted meat. Seen another post about having multiple. Well it seems currently it takes two tainted meat to receive one purified or toxic. I think it got broken with the patch.

Apparently can stack up 8 tainted meats before they stop dropping so gathered 8 and use the provided item.
Done the process two times and 3/8 gets purified. Still 2 to go...

Legassi at the Zeppelin Crash wants you to gather 8 Purified Helboar Meat. To purify the meat, use the Purification Mixture on the Tainted Helboar Meat you gather from Helboars.
