This daily quest unlocks immediately after you beat the Black Knight and earn the "It's Just a Flesh Wound" achievement at Champion level. Bring a friend or use the LFG tab - as noted above, this quest is extremely difficult to solo even with Valorous gear.

For the DK's looking to solo this, here's a few thing to make sure to do. First, if you have a tank spec and tank gear available, doing this in frost presence and high mitigation is a great thing. As of patch 3.1.1, we now have the ability to get 10-15 percent of our health back even if we're in tanking gear each time we Death Strike. Lowering the damage you take so that the 10-15 percent is enough to cover your health works wonders.

Killing the cultist does nothing, another immediately spawns if you do. But if you want to finish the quest, you'll have to kill at least three, and if you let more than one stay up at a time, they deal a bit more damage to you. One way you can use this to your advantage though, if you lack the Disease glyph, is to swap your target to the add and pestilence off it to refresh your diseases on Chillmaw without having to use your precious unholy and frost runes. (Which should all be used mostly for Death Strike) Then pestilence off of Chillmaw again to disease the cultist. Chillmaw goes down rather quickly to your AoE. So as long as you have your diseases up while you kill extra cultists, it'll go down. Definitely kite, just keep backing up in a circle and you won't take damage from the bombs.

I see a lot of people saying it was hard to do as a DPS spec and I can see why. Without tank gear, I'm sure I'd be taking a lot more damage, and with the Death Strike nerfs in terms of "percentage of damage," this is even worse. But if you just do it as a tank spec with as much defensive gear as you can, and frost presence as well, this is easy. Having good defensive gear (naxx tank) with high health is a plus, but I don't think it's completely necessary.

A lot of people will spam asking for a group for it anyway, and you can get in on a group there. But if you're wanting something fun to do, and enjoy taking on frostwyrms and soloing "group" quests, this one's easily doable with those things in mind.

Whether or not you can solo this will probably be dependent on your gear and spec. I'm a DK, and it was much easier to fight him in my pvp spec with tanking gear. Some tips on the fight:

1)Kill the cultists when they land. If you leave them up and trust to your AoE to take them down, you will find you have three cultists and the dragon all up before the end. In Naxx 25 gear that still took me down before I could kill them.

2)Lilyi mentioned this on Chillmaw's page, but if you are having trouble you might want to gather up Vykrul bones and hand them in to the Bone Witch for runes.

As a Naxx 25 geared Enhancement shaman this quest was pretty easy.

Drag Chillmaw to the ground.

Throw down SoE, Healing, Windfury and then Fire Elemental totem.

As soon as one of the adds jumps down use your Spirit Wolves and kill adds first then move onto Chillmaw.

Use Shamanistic Rage about halfway through so you don't tax yourself too much.

I found that I had to use my 5 stack of Maelstrom on the occasional Healing Wave but that was about it.

No pots needed and no Bloodlust either. Although BL would trivialize it even more then it already is.

Possible as a hunter to solo. Have a gimmick pet tanking/solo spec as my dual spec (basically just picking up the armor and health talents + Catlike Reflexes + Mend Pet Glyph), which allows your pet to tank the dragon then just burn the boss, keeping mend pet up. The adds are kind of irritating, but I found dropping a trap before you pull so you can have 2 cultists trapped by the time they come out and just tanking the third while you kill the dragon was effective. Then its just a matter of killing the cultists, which had a tendancy to despawn then respawn in a triangle a few yards away from where I was doing everything (Roughly 43,33), so I was able to kill off the cultists as well.

When I tried killing the cultists first, it just took to long, and my pet was eventually killed from the dragon.

possible to do this as duo, hunter + xxx

just use your tank pet. When he/she is running low on hp take him/her of Chillmaw, use distraction shot pop deterrence disengage and put pet back on and burn him down!
FD revive pet and take the adds ;D

best parents for this would be: hunter,dr00d,pala imo.
did it with a rogue and just did it without any deaths ^^

Soloed as a Ret pala on my 1st try, the trick is to stay out of the bombardier's bombs while keeping high DPS on Chillmaw. I would not advise killing the bombardiers as they apear because this lowers your dps on Chilmaw wich should be the main priority aswell as lowers the healing done by Divine Storm, keeping up Sacred shield togheter with using any AoW procs that may happen provide all the survivability you need, if you're running low on health bubble/loh/dp(bubble as last priority due to dmg output reduction). As soon as Chillmaw is dead the bombardiers are easy.

Note : My gear is quite good so results may varry.

The difficulty of this mob is way overrated.

Under normal circumstances (aka: dps; low rate gear; low dmg/endurance specs) i'd recommend two people at the most.
Some things to consider:

Dump your cooldowns/trinkets (duh)
Use CC on the cultists if you have any
Run around in circles - or squares, whatever fits you - just make sure you avoid the bombs the cultists throw at you (stay still and you die)
Use agro lures if you got any (pets, army of the dead, etc)
If you have life leeching abilities or HoT's, use them/keep them up

Her (the frostwyrm) HP is pathetic, just a tad over 100k (okay fine, 107848 to be accurate). Remember to keep moving.
On a side note; I wouln't recomend solo'ing for clothies, unless your kitting skills are amazing.

Easy soloable as feral tank with naxx25/ulduar gear. Usually I end fight with 90% hp left.
The only damage that druid tank recieves is bombs/breath damage because Savage defence fully absorbs most of Chilmaws hits.
So just watch for bombs, always move to avoid them, and kill adds first.

Soloable by Ret Pally with half blues half BOE or craftable epics.

I used the fate rune of nigh invincibility from turning in vrykul bones, a 350 armor scroll, seal of light, blessing of kings, and devotion aura. I backpeddled the whole fight to avoid bombs, using my insta cast flash of light whenever it was up and my sacred shield as much as possible. I used repentance on one of the cultists every chance I got as well. I did have to use lay on hands and my bubble, a health potion, and my mark of heroism trinket. I almost died a few times so maybe someone with better gear would have a better time using that same strategy. But the key, as stated already, avoid the bombs and it's very doable.

Perfectly soloable as an enhancement shammy, only used spirit wolves to control the adds and passive heal.

Soloed by a discipline priest:

Always keep Power Word: Shield and Inner Fire up.
Always keep Shadow Word: Pain and Devouring Plague up on Chillmaw, don't dot the adds.
Fear the adds when they spawn.
When you need it, use Penance and Prayer of Mending on yourself to stay alive.
Use Holy Fire if you feel like you have the time for it.
You will run out of mana, use Shadowfiend for that. Hymn of Hope is useful when Chillmaw is dead, fear the adds and start channeling it.

It should be noted that I had Reflective shield talent when I did this, don't know if it's needed. It did 27% of my damage on both the adds and Chillmaw.

Soloable, though I wouldn't call it easy, as a 25-Naxx geared warlock with Siphon Life and a Voidwalker. Throw Curse of Weakness on Chillmaw, have your voidie tank him, use Health Funnel to keep voidie alive, Corruption and Drain Life to keep your OWN health up once voidie's got enough threat, and just dot and fear the adds. The only real trick is being very careful not to let voidie go down. Usually after a full Health Funnel he's close to full health, so if you need to deal with the adds or use a Drain Life, try to do it immediately after topping voidie off. I usually managed to throw Corruption, Curse of Agony, and Fear on one of the adds before turning my attention back to Health Funnel, with no real problems. It will, however, take quite a while! Make sure your voidie's using BOTH Torment and Suffering automatically.

Fight is soloable as a ret paladin. It isn't that difficult if you're well geared. Just keep LoH handy and use flash of light each time it procs from a crit. Kill the cultist as soon as they land since they're easy to kill and cause a lot of damage if left alive. I suggest using judgement of wisdom to help with mana along with seal of command.

solable as a resto shaman, with naxx 25 gear. just be sure to make gd use of ur mana and use ur fire elemental after the 1st Cultist has landed.

Solo'd these guys as a Moonkin Druid in Naxx 25 gear. Ignored the adds and just kept moving as much as possible to avoid their bombs. Popping AOE cooldowns (Trees, Starfall, Typhoon) as available jsut to stack on damage. He can't be rooted of course, but he was doable. Had to pop out and toss some heals up a few times, but the damage is weatherable.

Just keep moving to avoid the cultists bombs that they throw on the ground, they don't hit super hard, but less damage is less damage.

soloed this as a deep would protection warrior spec in naxx 10 up to ulduar 10 gear and by the time all the adds and him was down i had 5k hp left.. hard but fun stuff

soloed as a blood DK tank, no cooldown used, never got below 75% HP. Just avoid the mines and it's really easy. Naxx10 gear.

While soloing this may be doable, why bother? On my server, Runetotem, there are usually plenty of people who need this quest. Finding a group takes little time - why fight over the spawn so five individuals can try to kill him when a group can blast through it with ease?

Did this easily with a Blood DK and an Elemental Shaman
DK didn't need healing.
Pop Army of the dead/ Bloodlust / Fire elemental totem and just nuke it.

The adds will come either hex or just run around them so they don't cast.
Very straightforward.

Story of a Resto Druid Soloing (No PvP gear)

So it was 4:00 in the morning (server time/my time - same thing) and no one besides me was doing Chillmaw. Well I went Resto for the fight just to be safe. The fight took 9 Minutes and 30 Seconds with 25% of my Damage coming from Thorns.

Here was my strat: Place a cozy fire next to you, that 4 spirit might help. Hot yourself up with Regrowth and Rejuv and engage the boss. Keep Regrowth and Rejuv on at all times. (I prioritized Regrowth because of my Glyph of Regrowth) When the boss uses Frost Breath, throw Lifebloom on youself because Chillmaw seems to hit harder after a breath or something. The stacks of Lifeblooms to use depends on your health at the time. Also, keep Chillmaw dotted with Moonfire at all times possible, and whenever possible, use Wrath. When he drops an add, you'll want to Cyclone the add and get distance from him. If you don't wish to keep track of Chillmaw's breath at this time, slow-roll Lifebloom and keep Swiftmend ready. When the add breaks from the Cyclone, use Roots and Moonfire. Focus on getting away from Time Bombs and killing the add. On the third and final add, Chillmaw should have as much health as the add, kill Chillmaw (health is still most important) then finish the add. Obviously, mana is an issue. Use innervate as soon as you get to 3kish mana for you can use it later on. If need mana and Innervate is CD, pop in to tree form for bonus spirit and just chill out and regen mana.

I soloed this easily as a prot paladin in naxx-gear, I just ran around spamming shield, hammer and holy shield, killed the adds as the landed, used judgement of light

I prefer to do dailies first thing in the morning before heading to work, 6:00~ not a lot of people online at that time.

He's very easy to solo as a feral druid, stay in cat form and use your instant cast after finisher to heal yourself, regrowth + rejuv if you're high on HP, healing touch + rejuv if you aren't, if it goes wrong and you're getting low switch to bearform and burn all your tanking abilities including feral regen, you should be back to full hp after that, and Chillmaw will most likely be dead, the bombers are easy, just move from the bombs they put down.

Soloable even for a iLevel200 geared Disc Priest, if you know your stuff. Will need to use Shadowfiend and maybe get a Borrowed Time hasted Hymn of Hope off - but it's just about outlasting Chillmaw. Keep DoT's on him, Holy Fire on cooldown, DoT the adds at least once so no one steals them while you work - I usually kill Chillmaw as fast as possible, then slowly wear the adds down since I'm low on mana.

Just tossing it out there, it's worth a try for those days when it's just impossible to find a group for it :)

I soloed this as an unholy deathknight, very easily i might add, and without any major CDs. After the fight I discovered I was in PvP gear, not PvE gear. If you are lvl 80 you should be able to solo this without a problem. Just be sure to avoid the time bombs by moving around.

Very easy to solo as a good geared demo lock. Just fear and dot up the cultists when they drop, health funnel your pet and drain life when needed. Never went below 60%

Soloed as bear druid, easy stuff, run away from bombs and spam glyphed maul and swipe. If you get low on hp use rage->hp spell and you'll be ok. Finished him with full hp bar >:D
