You become Arthas again with a different set of abilities. This time, it's a one on one with Illidan.

As far as I remember, you have a Parry button to restore mana, a knockback and a super attack that needs you to be at range.

Parry until you get the mana to knockback and followup straight away with the super attack. Do that about 4, 5 times and he'll go down like a sack of potatoes.

The stone doesn't actually have one spawn point, it'll spawn anywhere around Matthias Lehner. It's always nearby though, maybe 30 yards at most.

It doesn't sparkle to indicate it's a quest-related item, but hover your mouse over nearby rocks and you'll find it.

This is a playable recreation of A Long Time Coming, the finale of the Scourge Campaign in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, which plays after completing the mission A Symphony of Frost and Flame. Shortly after the battle, Arthas entered Icecrown Citadel and merged with the spirit of Ner'zhul, becoming the new Lich King.

This quest is slightly inaccurate, as the battle actually took place when Icecrown Citadel was little more than a tower of ice, long before it was rebuilt into the massive Saronite fortress currently in-game.

The stone is right near the quest giver (at 48,72 as stated). When you click it you turn into Arthas and have to fight against Illidan.
As Arthas you get 4 abilities:
1: Parry - returns mana (i suggest spamming it when ready).
2: Deathstrike - strikes Illidan for 20k damage
3: Stomp - pushes Illidan away from you
4: Annihiliathe - hits Illidan for a lot of damage (400K) and stuns him (can only be used when Illidan is away (after stomp)

I would suggest spam clicking 1 whenever ready, get some mana, then spam clicking 2 and when you can stomp and right away annihiliathe. Really easy fight.

I just did this quest. I wasn't really paying notice as to what is going on, and lost, but i still got credit for the quest.

Note the superattack (button 4, Annihilate) has to be done at range. So you have to knock Illidan back first, then do the Annihilate. You can't win the fight without it.

This bugged for me. After just 1 strike it canceled and said, 1/1 Prince Destiny. Abandond pick up again ftw!

The rock doesn't sparkle nor does it stick out of it's surroundings. At least it didn't to me. You have to hover your mouse over every stone in the area to identify it.

This stone spawns in multiple locations surrounding the boy (within sight range)

It's rectangular and does not sparkle. Slightly smaller than a gnome's full height.

EXTREMELY challanging fight - you need to perform action 3 then 4 immediately after and it doesn't always work correctly if there is any lag or delay. If you can't do it within around 40-50 seconds you have to try again.

You gain mana from action 1. Performing action 3 then 4 needs 15000 mana. I found action 2 to be a uesless drain of precious mana.

Just realized that you can repeat this fight even after you finish the quest, tried after turned it in... I guess Blizzard itself didn't want us to be away of doing this again either

Ok ive heard alot about this quest and really wanna do it but i cant get the quest for some reason mathias isnt there. Ive done the quest to kill the soldiers as arthas and turn them into gouls and turned it into the skybreaker but i cannot find the boy, i know where he is but it isnt phased is for me, i even have the acheivment to complete 140 quests in icecrown, can someone please help me?

You need 15000 mana to do both the knockback and then the big hit.

So basically spam 1 until you have 15000 mana, then press 3 quickly followed by 4. Then hit him with 2 while he's stunned (if you have the mana, not a big deal) and then start over again with 1.

This is how i did this:

First i parry till i get 15k mana and then u kick him back and do the stun thing. then keep on parry and use the attack on actionbar nr. 2 till cooldown on nr.6 is gone and repeat. =) gl

This was actually a very even fight (not as in this quest where it's so easy that it's lame). The only reason it's made so easy is well you know, for people who can't take a challange. And probably because it's ment to be "enjoyed", but how can you "enjoy" something that is plain easy?

This is a key part of the Wrath of the Lich King story, where Arthas defeats Illidan Stormrage in combat in Icecrown on the last step of his expedition.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like you can re-do the fight with Illidan after you've finished the quest only if you haven't turned in the follow-up quest. After that, it looks like the rock that you use to switch to Arthas is phased out.

Might be worth taking off your equipment before you do this quest. I was unfortunate enough to kill Illidan but due to a bug then fell clean through Icecrown to my death in that big empty void under the world :(

Just turn your head around and you will find the stone:D
The abilities are 4!
1: Parry the Illidan's next attack to regenerate mana(you start with low mana)
2:An attack that does +20000 damage
3:Kicks Illidan and knocks him back
4:A kind of charge,that stuns illidan and does an amount of damage(can be used after you kick Illidan)
That's all :D

Arthas went to icecrown and was confronted by Blood elves and Naga and anub'arak helped him kill them...after that he walked to the frozen thrown where illidan was waiting for him then arthas was beating Illidan so Arthas took the opportunity and badly wounded him then took the helmet then Nher'zul whispers:now we are one

A few thoughts:

1- As soon as you right click on the stone, Arthas and Illidan appear. Be ready right away to get in position and set auto attack on Illidan.

2- Totally forget about using button #2. Keep pressing #1 (Parry) and keep your mana as high as possible, while pressing #3 (the Kickback one) as soon as you can.

3- Press the Annihilate button (#4) AS SOON AS IT LIGHTS UP. It doesn't stay lit long at all (less than one second), and if you miss that very brief window of opportunity, you will have to wait for another chance.

4- After you press Annihilate, guess what ? There's a good chance that Illidan is still alive but just stunned and doubled over. However, you are not facing the right way. Turn around immediately to get back into attack position. Resume steps one through three again.

5- It took me several tries and abandonments of this quest to finally complete it. Be persistent and patient and you too will complete it, finally.

When I did this quest earlier, it didn't phase out the enemies from the Argent Tournament quest. Luckily on my second try, a group rolled through and killed the commander. Just a heads-up for people phased with the Tournament.

First instructions worked great

Lotsa 1 s until uv enough mana
then 3 followed quickly by 4

repeat until he's dead

Once uv won you immediately return to ur body so you may have a couple of mobs on you be ready

i have tried this quest at least 10 times and can't even get close to killing the winged bastard. Please help with any tips! Im normally a badass and can kill like there's no tomorrow, but the prince that you have to control is a weak S.O.B. that dies way too easily.

The stone is right behind him at 50,73 but it moves around in a circle around him. It is a tall rectangular stone, but it does not have any "glitter" effect, so just look for the cog to show on your mouse.

when i first attempted this is seemed impossible. then i took the time to see what the abilitys are. there are 4 abiliys. 1 is kinda a pary doesnt do any damage but enables you to save you runic power or whatever its called. 2 does some damage but wastes alot of power. 3 does a push back that will knock him back, and 4 makes you leap to him doing 40 k damage... hm ok. so i spammed 1 till i had enough power to knock him back by pressing 3 AND leap toard him using 4. This stuns him for a short period of time. you should have enough health to do it about 3-4 times. I hope this helps.

WotLK Classic here, stone is literally non-existent. I think the quest is perhaps bugged, but there is absolutely no stone, no matter what size, available to click around Matthias.

This seems to be bugged for me. I parry hitting 1 till I have enough mana to do the knockback then the super attack, but the super attack doesn't work. Anyone else having this issue?
