read the book day of the dragon. (not an ingame book)., details all that history read in that cut down version. and has deathwing in it... awesome book.

Grim Batol was a Horde Base of Operations During the Second War. At the height of it's power the Horde had reached up to Arathi. After the "disband" of the Horde a Warlock named Nekros' found an item called the Demon Soul. he "found" it with the help of Neltharion also known as Deathwing. Neltharion's plan was to steal Alextraza's eggs to rebuild the Black dragon flight. It ended up in him being "killed" by the other 4 aspects and Nekros' suffered the same fate.(You know he lives in World of Warcraft. Lady Sinestra at Netherwing speaks of "The Master") There is much speculation about Grim Batol becoming one of the late Game high end instances since WoW was released. If this happens (in WotLK maybe) you will certainly face the most Powerfull and Dangerous Dragon that has ever existed in Azeroth maybe the most powerfull Warcraft Character: Neltharion A.K.A Deathwing

The Grim Batol is at 73, 71.

On the way there, you'll find Red Dragonspawn (57-58 Elites)

I'm only level 33, so I couldn't get far enough to see what's past that, but bringing a party or a 70 might not be a bad idea.

The way up to Grim Batol, the Dragonmaw Gates, is guarded entirely by level 57+ elite red dragonkin. The first 2 or so gates are Red Wyrmkin and Red Dragonspawn. Further in are Scalebane Lieutenants, Scalebane Royal Guards, and Wyrmkin Firebrands, all of which are level 60-62 elites. As a level 70 demo warlock, these are simple to take down, and drop between 4-30s. :]

i was in wetland getting some herbs and i just see this place in far east of wetland as 66 druid i stealth all the way passing dragonmaw gates and at the end i saw a big gate and place name was Grim batol i red much about it its all like old wow story. but before that i spent like 15 mins to see if some way to open this big door. i really hope this door will open someday i also red that some quest give key for it but need to kill onyx for it . if there is some helpful infirmation plz write .. oh i forgot the funny part that dwarf have cheatet this place and made copy of it call Iron Forge .. haha

Yeah, i went there, absolutely nothing there. Closed doors, nothing else.

And Boone, why would they guard the location of a future instance with mere lvl 57-62 elites?

Alongside two other books, Ironforge - The Awakening of the Dwarves and War Of The Three Hammers.

With the release of the novel Night of the Dragon, following that of WotLK, it was confirmed that Deathwing resides within the deepest chasms of Grim Batol, continuing his experiments on a new brood to replace his black dragonflight, dubbed "twilight" dragons.

The proximity of the expansion's and novel's release dates, combined with the presence of twilight drakes in Obsidian Sanctum, likely foreshadows Grim Batol being launched during the WotLK expansion as a raid instance--falling into WoW's current plot (Krasus, Earthen, Rhonin) quite nicely.

Right where he said they were...at the Bael'dun dig site in Mulgore. This is not far from Thunder Bluff at all. The table you are looking for is pretty close to right in the middle of the first plateau (with a bunch of tents and scientists and mages etc).

If you are Horde, going to Stormwind to get this book might not be a good idea. As a rogue I stealthed all the way up to King Varian Wrynn . In that room there is plenty of guards that will see you so be careful or consider the other locations for the book.

omg now i finally can say what is it all about with it. The next expansion is named >>cataclysm<< and the cataclysm is a very powerful dragon and it changes everyting everywhere volcanos are coming over it all and in some deserts there are coming trees, fire everywhere and that says it all it is veeery powerful. and then you are being able to be on your fly mounts in outland-northrend-kalimdor-and eastern kingdom, and then try to think this out ( very big gate + powerful dragons on way up to it + next expansion powerful dragon + fly mount)= you can maybe fly over the gate and come into a instance/raid which is so extreme hard that blizz maybe make some raids able to get what do i know about 50persons in 1raid. so i am very excited (by the way they think the new expansion (cataclysm) is coming out in the spring about there but blizz always wait 1-3 months to make it 110%perfect so we can enjoy it. and i think the dragon (the cataclysm dragon has the name - DEATHWING!) is 2-3 times better than lich king so watch out. AND i have found out that there are coming 2 new race's goblins and worgen(wolfman) and the goblins are located on some new islands (like draenei) and i think they come from the lava from the volcanos (maybe from underwater) there are coming (magma) and then it as we know when lava(magma) it touching water (being cooled down) it will then make the island.

Originally the slaves of jungle trolls on the Isle of Kezan, the goblin race was forced to mine kaja'mite ore out of the volcanic bowels of Mount Kajaro.

The trolls used this potent mineral for their voodoo rituals, but it had an unexpected effect on the slaves who were in constant contact with it: kaja'mite generated a startling new cunning and intelligence in the goblins. Crafting their own powerful artifacts of engineering and alchemy in secret, the goblins soon overthrew their oppressors and claimed Kezan for their homeland. The mines that had been their prison, their slave camp, and the base of their rebellion now became the city of Undermine. Weaving through the heart of the island in a dizzying network of tunnels, vaults, and lava tubes, Undermine epitomizes the goblins' complex, unpredictable mindset.

The goblins' natural greed soon lifted them to prominence as masters of mercantilism. Trade princes arose during the First War as the cleverest goblins learned to take advantage of the strife. Great fortunes were amassed, and the Isle of Kezan became a hub for fleets of goblin trading ships. One of the trade princes agreed to lend his faction’s services to the Horde in the Second War. Following the Horde's defeat, the goblins learned from their colleague's failed example, and soon they realized that their profits could double if they weren't stuck in such a restrictive relationship. By the end of the Third War, goblins were providing weaponry, vehicles, and devious services to both the Horde and the Alliance. This wouldn't last forever...

Recently, the goblins of Kezan have found a new enemy in the Alliance – unexpected and unprofitable encounters with this faction have driven certain trade princes from their comfortable neutrality. Reforging old pacts with their one-time allies, the goblins have been welcomed into the Horde with open arms.

The worgen are a race of feral wolf-beasts whose very name inspires fear. Theories regarding their history abound, yet the worgen's origins remain steeped in mystery.

Records indicate that the worgen existed for a time in Kalimdor. In fact, more recent evidence suggests that their true origin might have a connection to the night elves and a secretive druidic order from Kalimdor's distant past. Yet until new evidence comes to light, this information remains speculative.

The worgen's first verified appearance in the Eastern Kingdoms has been traced back to the Third War, when the archmage Arugal utilized the wolf-beasts as a weapon against the Scourge. Arugal's weapons soon turned against him, however, as the curse of the worgen rapidly spread among the human population, transforming ordinary men and women into ravenous, feral creatures.

Arugal adopted many of the worgen as his own and retreated to the former mansion of Baron Silverlaine, the estate now known as Shadowfang Keep. The curse, however, was not contained. It persisted in the lands of Silverpine and extended even into the fabled walled nation of Gilneas, where the curse rapidly reached pandemic levels.

The citizens of Gilneas found themselves trapped, with no hope of escape. They retreated deeper within the isolated domain, and there they survived, fearful of the savage presence that lurked just outside the barricades.

Tensions among the displaced citizens escalated over time, resulting in a civil war that now threatens to destabilize the embattled nation even more.

There are those among the Gilneans, however, who cling to hope. Many believe that a treatment for the worgen curse may exist, although others have nearly given up, fearful that if the barricades should fall, their humanity will be lost forever.
