He doesn't hit very hard at all. As a level 27 druid in cat form he was only hitting me for 40 damage per hit. His fire spell is targeted at the ground, so you can avoid it by moving around.

I never knew that this rare mob existed, so naturally I didn't know that the helm existed either. Luckily it dropped. Quite a nice upgrade over my lack of a helmet! =)

Soloed him as a 28 draenei mage. He resisted a lot which made it difficult to keep distance from him. His fire spell brought my health down quite a bit so it's very important to avoid it if you are squishy like me. :P Had to use one healing pot. I also threw out a 'solid stone statue' (jewelcrafted combat pet that heals) at the end. (I had about 20% health left) But I probably didn't need it.

Although it says his flamespike does 70-80 dmg; it actually hit me for 152; didn't stay in the fire to check dot damage.

Took my Orc Hunter to Brightwood Grove to level up from 23 to 25. There are level 25-30 Alliance quests there for some fun PvP. Plenty of mobs on relatively quick respawn timers make for good grinding. I can skin 'em all. Until WotLK comes out, I still need to learn the next level of Howl from a trained beast, and the level 25 Black Ravager Mastiffs have it. If you get tired of the grind, you can fish just north of the grove. If you can manage to get to Desolace (or get lucky at the AH), you can get the Lean Wolf Flank recipe to grind cooking and maintain a steady +6 well fed buff.

And there's Fenros. I found him at level 24. He killed me in three straight fights, but I was so close each time that when I returned to Orgrimmar for the armor repairs (/frown - it's a long trip back and forth), I stopped in the AH for some elixirs and scrolls, got about 10 buffs on and tried a fourth time . . . for a mutual kill. W00t! That last blow just looked so cool watching us both go down. Ran back from the graveyard, rez and loot. Got the Ravenwood Bow instead of the Tribal Worg Helm I wanted . . . but dudes! I killed Fenros at level 24!

Here's my suggestions. There's a field just south of the Grove (just around the "point" from Darkshire) full of black wolfs (Black Mastiff types between levels 23-26). There's a path on the north/northeast side of the field heading up to Brightwood Grove. The path comes into the Grove about half way between two camps, one a little northish (I'll call it camp N), one a little southish (camp S) of the path's entrance. Camp N is Fenros' main stop, where he's got a little hut he'll hang out in for a bit before wandering. When he wanders out of Camp N, his first stop appears to be Camp S, then back north through the Grove where he touches the other camps and returns to Camp N for a bit.

If you just try to jump Fenros when you see him, it'll be tough to take him without pulling adds. Maybe when you're level 30ish, that's not a problem . . . but it killed me. However, between those two camps near the southern path into the Grove, there's a wide open field with a few Worgs of various types (caster and combat) between levels 26-29. Maybe more than a few Worgs, but they seem to be less densely packed than the groups of Worgs as you head further north into the Grove. And there are relatively few trees behind which you might miss a Worg you're trying to clear. Keep that space cleared and wait for Fenros to leave Camp N for Camp S. That should allow you to attack him with minimal risk of adds.

I was grinding exp since my girlfriend had alot more exp than me. I was killing one of those Nightbane Dark Runner. And then Fenros jumped on me. In this time I was a lvl 25 Druid in Catform and he was lvl 32 so I began to run away and prepared me for killing him but then a Nelf hunter showed up and took him from me :P But I was lucky, cause the hunter died and I got aggro while just had 300 hp left :D I killed him, got the head piece and the ressed the hunter and gave it to him :)
Well.. I'm not stupid, just kind :) Cause he did all the job while I got the exp ^^

Spotted him one day as i was doing a quest up in the area with my 26 warlock. It was long but I managed to kill him by having my voidwalker tank and health funneling and 2-3 attempts to apply a dot : (

He dropped the Ravenwood Bow for me, his loot wasn't really worth it, but i found it fun killing him : )

Spotted him while doing the worgen in the woods quest. I was a level 26 Nelf rogue w/ a few blues (mostly from deadmines) and it was not too bad. I say that, but I have the nature healing spell from herbalism and the +crit from skinning which helped. I had to heal myself to full health w/ the herbalism spell and pop a potion and use evasion but it was surprisingly easy. Just be sure and kick his junk when he's about to use the flame strike. Also, imo it's a good idea to use whatever DoT's you have if you are a lower level than he is b/c they are guaranteed hp decrease instead of melee damage that can miss or be parried or blocked or dodged.

He dropped the helm for me which will fetch some nice gold on the AH! Gold FTW!

Just soloed as a 27 feral druid in bear form.

Most of my attacks were almost fully resisted or dodged, since he's a 32. But it's possible, used the "Aquarius Belt" once, and just kept shifting into caster form for a regrowth.

Tip for Druids: Use Bash when he starts to cast Flamestrike

Not to state the obvious here, but if you have a hunter who can use the bow or a druid who can use the helm, neither is BoP, so you can always kill him with a high level alt and mail them over. Of course, you could do that and then be a capitalist pig and stick them on the AH for quick cash too...

He does Have a Gold Dragon around him, not silver or any other color.

Per the Atlas...

Fenros Uncommon spawn, lvl 32.

Lvl 32, uncommon spawn, -5 to 8 Hours.

There is no specific time for this spawn. I've spotted him at 12:05, 4:38, 9:16, etc.

You just have to go and camp, or make a run through every time you are in the area.

He shows up at any time, and spawns at any of the three camps. He's spawned at the northern camp on top of me, at the camp closest to Darkshire, and has appeared at the tent.

I've gotten his bow and his helm. A few times ;)

Found him by chance actually, I accidentally destroyed the book for the old book quest and came back from SW to farm a few Nightbane Shadow Weavers to get it back. He walked past, I saw he was a 32 rare and killed him easily with my L32 NE Hunter.

He dropped the Helm for me :D

I found him at 61,32 at 5.09am Server time (or 9.09pm my time lol)

I found and killed him 4 times in the last week.
I was trying to get the helm and finally did, the other times he dropped the bow. The best time I found to get him was around 6 am server time. He usually is in the main camp but once I caught him walking back from the camp to the north and the time he dropped the helm he was walking back from the camp from the south. use /target fenros

I am a Level 30 Hunter and I found him twice, both at around 5:00 p.m. server time. (Feathermoon.) I killed him both times, and he dropped the damn bow twice. I really wanted that helm. Anyway, I shall coninue my hunt!

wow, I didn't think it was true, but the whole spawning thing at 6:00 is confirmed... I woke up at 6:50, logged on, flew down there, and actually SAW him respawn, so yeah... its a pain to get, but its possible.

Killed this mob yesterday. was standing alone near a tent, with other mobs around the tent. managed to pull him solo and he droped the helm. Which sold for 14g on the AH....imo, not really worth that much..

I pulled an all nighter waiting for this guy to spawn, good co-ords 61,32, so almost 200 stacks of medium and heavy leather later & and some 7 hours he finally spawned. First time i've gone out of my way to get a drop i must say and thankfully Fenros dropped the Helm i was looking for. Thanks guys for all you comments they helped me sit it out :-)

Just wanted to let you know my 6 yr old grandson got him today around 5pm eastern time. a 27 hunter and cat got him on the 2nd try, it was a hard fight and the hunter was down to 42 health at the end. Was well worth it he dropped a and a potion and some food. Whoot, a great bow. better than the blue one he was using. I have been playin 2 yrs and never seen him before, good luck to you all.

Ran into to him last night while mining some iron in Duskwood. Bet the fur off of him with my lvl 31 Pally. He dropped the bow, I gave it to a lvl 25 hunter that was in the same area skinninig.

I ran into him, he was standing near a camp of worgs I needed to kill, I was lvl 28 hunter back then... I started killing him because he didn't walk away, to my surprise he dropped this awesome helmet, I'm definetely gonna kill him again to get some helmets and bows for guildies and friends... anyway, a good hunter (I am marksmanship) can easily take him on 29...

after 3 days of camping out by the tents, i finally got him. i logged in at 3am to see if he was there and spotted him walking towards the southern camp. aggroed 2 of his friends, also, but i killed them and he dropped the helm, which is perfect for my druid. bad ass

I killed this guy as a lvl 27 Discipline Priest. I killed all the Dark Runners at the camp closest to Darkshire and sure enough he popped. I kept Shadow Word: Pain on him constantly and kited him in circles around the camp until I ran out of mana, then I Power Word: Shield tanked him and Wanded him to death. Wasn't that hard, but had to fight him twice cause the first time the Dark Runners respawned. Dropped the bow.

Some people have said that he spawned at 6 a.m. for them each time no matter what, well this not a set time if he did spawn for them then. the current spawn rate is about 5-8 hours, and its random.

And now im tired for waking up to early to wait for him to spawn at 6 am server time.

Edit: I waited until 6:10 and nothing, i came back 2 hours later and he was there and the helm dropped =) (what i was looking for)

Killed him around 9:15 pm eastern time so 6:15 server time, was wanting the helm for my druid, but got the bow. Far as I can tell if u clear all the worgen from the camps then come back to the one with 2 tents he spawns (if he hasnt spawned for awhile) I will keep checking for him and will post my sightings. Hope to get that HELM :)

I just found him at 60,40 inside a small hut. I was a 27 Human Rogue, and took him down with a pot and an evasion. He dropped the helm, which was better than the Defias Mask I WAS using :D

I saw fenros, in a center of a camp. I aggroed him but then I accedently aggroed 2 other ones, so I started to run. but when I went back fenros was miising. I was a lvl 32 druid and when I put track humanoids on, I still couldnt find him. so did he dissapear after I attacked him?

Saw this helmet and just had to have it, but it's been currently selling for 60+ gold in the auction house (which I find ridiculous). After seeing that, I decided I would try to track down this Fenros, and get the helmet myself...
It's been two days now, and I've killed Fenros 3 times with my lvl 27 hunter. I got the bow all 3 times, used one of them, and sold the other two in the AH.
Still no helmet, but I'm going for a 4th try! xD

Just soloed as a 24 Night Elf Druid at 10:03 AM.... a 6 minute 22 second fight.

Pulled him from 63,37 (his walk from the southern camp, past the northern one...not sure where he goes or how far before returning to the northern camp) and kited him to the cliff walls with faerie fire.. that part just took patience. From there, just kept mauling him when i got the rage, save bash for when you get frost nova-ed and he starts casting Flame Spike (150 dmg on the cast and 74 dmg every few seconds while u stand in the area of effect) or you will lose almost all your hp while he beats on you and you attempt to heal it back up.

Don't growl either.... he resists 90% of them, wasting all 10 rage points used. At least when he parries 80% of your mauls, u only lose about 4 rage.

Got the hat too =D

Decided, on a whim, to run through Brightwood with my hunter on the way to town, looking for this one. First time I've ever bothered, and to my immense surprise, found him at the southmost camps. Promptly relocated him to a different level of existence, and acquired the helm. My hunter's going to be gloating about this one for a while.

Only spell I saw him use was flamestrike, but I was concentrating more on my ability timers than what he was doing; at 35, I wasn't exactly worried.

Ok so after days of Hunting I finally found him(Undermine Server), he spawned at the center camp @ around 9:40PM PST. I got a little tied up /w the mobs around the camp and tracked him to the Southern Camp where I had my Lvl 30 Shadow Mastiff run in to pull(out of Ammo...) I got 2 adds, between Fenros and the 2 adds my dog and I(34 Hunter /w Semi Outdated Equipment) had a relatively moderate challenge, I popped a Pot I may not have needed and the dog took a decent beating.

He dropped the Bow and a Large Fang. Kinda disappointed as I'm after the Helm.

Oh ya, Approx Cords at time of Spawn are 60,42, approx cords for final resting spot 63,51

I found him in the main camp, pressed up against the mountain, right in the middle of Brightwood Grove. Soloed as a level 29 Rogue. Best bet, keep a Healing Potion at the ready. Abilities to stun and give yourself time to recouperate are good too. Above all else, stop his spells, they're annoying as hell...

Saw this guy running around (lvl 32 elite), decided to kill him. About 18 minutes, 3 healing potions, 2 bubbles, and a lay on hands later, a nearby caster respawned and ganked me. I got him to 12%. Bottom line: it is not possible to get this guy down in a timely manner as a lvl 24 holy pally. If you are considering trying, you should level up first.

I found him around 08:30 (WoW time), and didn't have any quests for him. He was on my mineral circuit that I do pretty often, and it's the first time I've seen him. Must just be a rare spawn?

His Tribal Worg Helm makes my Dwarven Hunter look very Hells Angels. :D

That is not true, he is just a very rare spawn. It is rumored that he spawns only at night, but this is not confirmed. Fenros isn't part of any quest, just a special mob, thats all.

At 12:20 AM 5/26/05 on the Mannaroth server, I beat Fenros as a lvl 28 Rogue all by myself. I had to use 1 healing potion (280-360hp), but I beat him and got the Ravenwood Bow.

This guy makes his rounds between the dogboy camps in Brightwood grove and spawns at a pretty decent clip, he's reasonably easy to dispatch because most of the time I've encountered him he's alone. He's dropped the bow twice and the tribal worg helm.

Spent ages looking for him when I was level 27, never found him, and then this afternoon I saw him, he dropped the Tribal Worg Helm :D

As a level 29 Rogue the fight was over in seconds, I swear he was as easy as the Worg Dark Runners which are around level 28-29.

Killed him on Xavius server the dates 19th and 20th may 2007. At both time he was lvl 32 and myself with my new hunter was lvl 24 only. First attempt ( the day 19th ) )I died, and the 2nd attempt it was close for me to die again. Becuase my pet had hard time to keep aggro. but I made it. He dropped the helmet for me. the day 20th I kicked his butt, only got aggro once but with a cc shot, I had the range all the time, and it was actually my pet who killed him, while he was walking towards me. The drop again was the helmet.

Its pretty obvious even from reading this page that he is NOT a quest monster, but a rare spawn rumoured to be on a 6 hour timer. This means that you could hypothetically spend 5 hours and 59 minutes looking for him and not find him. If its really that important to you, my advice would be come back periodically over a long stretch of time, if ur worried u wont spot him create a macro to /target fenros, and hit this from time to time wandering round.

I've dropped him three times this week with my 27-32 hunter. Once i got the bow but the other two times i got the helmet. Sold it for 48g the first time and got it up right now for 50g. kudos to my girlfriend though, she let me need it when she was out with me the last time. I play late night, so usually i find him roaming around. If ur a hunter, u can pull whatever is around him first with a distant shot and clear a good path to him. just watch for the casters.....

Saw him today when I logged in early in the morning to do some hunting for the Worgen in the Woods quest. I was a 27 hunter and he spawned as a lvl 32=( Figuring that I might not get another chance I promptly sent my trusty crab to keep him busy while I fired away...and damn, this guy casts! Got my pet to around 30% fairly quickly after which set out for me...and I went melee. >.< He resisted every disengage attempt, but he didn't have that much life left on his lifebar( meaning it was definitely below half :3) so I wing clipped him and ran around like crazy shooting him from time to time while my pet(he lllliiiivvvveeeedddddd!)kept his life going down. We finally dropped him. Used a healing pot in the process, and he dropped the bow.(grrrrrrrr I wanted a helmet) Now I'm going to time him to see if he's really on a 6 hr timer or not. Hehe. :D

EDITED: Nope, doesn't seem to be on a 6 hour timer.

I dont get it. How can anyone see this guy as a challenge? got him on lvl 25 with my rogue, and got the head. Since then I've killed him loads of times. With my %^&*!@# today, lvl31. I had 100% hp 50% mana after the fight, no kiting needed. he droped the bow which I 2minutes earlier had vendored -_- .

Easy kill, easy to pull alone.

He walks around most of the entire area that is marked as a spawn location, so it's easiest to find him if you (or a PT member) have tracking.

I didn't even know he existed until all the sudden,he just spanws in front of my nose,I saw the silver circle around his portrait and I thought,why not give it a go.At that moment I was 27 so my chances were pretty low.But actually he wasn't that hard at all.Open up with CS,do another SS and when he breaks free from stun,use evasion.Give him a gouge,regenerate energy,SS once more and do a evis.He likes to use his magic so keep an eye open to that.Some well place kicks or a nicely timed gouge prevented him from using his spells all the time.He actually only hit me once.I just one medium healing potion and that was it.He dropped the helm...it rocks :p

Even met him with a friend,killed him again,got the helmet again sold it for 3g(ripoff I guess :s).

Guess I'm just lucky.

I found him as a level 32 and solo'd him as a level 27 feral druid with a combination of tanking with bear and heals over time. i did actually die at the same time as him though due to aggroing a shadow caster 3/4 of the way in.

after getting back to the corpse he had dropped a ravenwood bow.

ok i dont know if this is noteworthy but i just happened to come across fenros yesterday. i killed him at 430am. i got the bow btw. 10 minutes later i came across lupos another rare monster so that was cool. anyways i came back today 25 hours later and fenros was there again. killed him got the helm this time. will try again tomorrow. didnt find lupos this time. 5 minutes after i killed fenros there a few other people showed up so i got lucky.

Is that 6 hours hard or does it fluctuate? If you bag him at 1:40 ... as I did today at lunch :) ... can I camp him on him at 7:40?

Also, it bears repeating that it's worth following him a bit until he's away from possible adds ... that made my kill much easier. Of coarse, Druids and Rogues have an advantage there (I was prowling behind him ... lvl 30 Druid). Also, if you have competition I could see someone getting an itchy trigger finger.

He was not too far from main camp walking kinda south-easterly. And i don't think it's been said here but he was easy to spot because he was much bigger than the other Worgen.

I killed him this morning at ~ 0659. He dropped the Ravenwood Bow AND a Leather Headband of the Falcon. Nice.

Found him during the DAY, yes I said DAY. got the helm. 20 rogue , dropped with ease.. used on potion and stunned then bandaged... got about 3 tics on the bandage.. not too hard

Since this is a rare spawn, there will be a respawn timer for him. Just wait and stop complaining like a noob ;P

Not on a 6 Hour timer. Checked today, still hasn't spawned, been 6 hours sinse i killed him :)

i found him just north of the road. when i asked a higher to help me, i looked at him and he just disappeared. looked for em for 15 minutes and didn't find him anymore. too bad, my paladin wanted that helmet (yes i know its leather)

I have farmed him successfully everyday for the past week looking for the Tribal Worg Helm. Like clockwork I have killed him everyday between the hours of 06:30 A.M. and 07:00 A.M. Thats the best time because well at least in my server noone is in Duskwood at this time that early in the morning and hes always in one of the camps. The easiest way to do it if you have the track huminoids skill is to turn it on and pace around the camps and point at clusters of Worgen. Once you find him hes pretty easy well at least being a 34 Druid. But alas every day I have got the Ravenwood Bow. No helm. But once I get one..they go for 15G..cha-ching. Happy farming!

OK, I have read all the posts here and finally decided to post my encounters with Fenros. I found him twice within 30 minutes in the same day starting around 2:00PM EST on 01/08/08 on my server while I was looking for herbs. I killed him both times at exactly 60,40 and the bow dropped both times, and I sent one to my lower lvl hunter and the other to my lower lvl rogue. I have been trying to find him again because I want the helm for my hunter. I have read all the posts that say he spawns around 6 am to 7 am and I have been on since 5:55am this morning, 01/12/08 and have yet to find him. I'm not saying he dosen't spawn at this time, just that I have never seen him in the mornings because I have gotten on the past few mornings and never seen him myself. I have came back at various times since 1st seeing him and had no luck. Also, I would like to note, when I found him I had NO QUEST for him, so he is a rare spawn and you DON'T need a quest...you just need luck. :).

Killed him today just after 24:00, havent seen him before that time.

There are serveral camps full of other mobs that look like him. He walks from camp to camp pausing in everyone of them. A guild mate who came to help me could easely kill him as a lvl 32 rogue.

The looks: He is somewat bigger than the others and is reddish(red but not realy red) in color.
As for spells I have only seen one: Frost Nova - it is anoying but he doesnt run to ranged distance after he casts it.

Dropped the helm.

Just dropped him with my pally whos 27. 10 minute fight. Took 2 mana potions, 2 bubbles, and an ass load of healing to drop the SOB. Dropped the Ravenwood Bow.

Not so lucky:
This rare npc spawns about 5-8h after someone has killed him, his drop chances are aproximately 2 out of 3 times bow, 1 out of 3 times helmet, camped him for my lv 27 hunter helment and killed him 7 times, droped the helmet at the 8 when was about to give up but killed it on my alt while I was mining, he usually Spawns at the camp with 2 big huts and moves tho the other 2 camps, wish you better luck, at least I got it in the end.
