Cataclysm =- decent raids up until Firelands patch.- decent classes/talents- decent 80-85 leveling experiencealso Cataclysm- last hurrah for challenging 5mans pre-Diabloesque M+ that was implemented in a braindead way that punished only healers- then promptly nerfed to the ground because "challenging content not appropriate for random matchmaking" (I wonder which was the chicken and which was the egg)- no world in World of Warcraft (Deathwing doing flybys doesn't consist immersion) extremely trivial and "on rails" quest experience (I know there's hand-holding addons nowadays even in proper vanilla/bc but at least the possibility of pick your path is there)- old world "revamp" = break everything to piecemeal morcels, Shimmering Flats + Azshara not enough to save the trainwreck.- extremely trivial content for everything but raids.- planned gear obsolescence "patch = expansion" even worse than Wrath Uld > ToC and with it content obsolescence as well, Zero reason to go back, forces even more catchup mechanics because not enough for new / late to join players.Cataclysm is very much where modern wow grew from the roots planted in late Wrath to what drove away classic mmorpg lovers in droves (sic).PS. Also.. never forget .. Wrath ONLY kept subs stable because China saved it. The game released 1 whole year later (you know skeletons and all that)Western subs were already crashing by the time ToC and soon after LFD became a thing, If not for the Chinese getting the fresh game at that point and propping subs up, we'd be talking about silliness like "subs are cyclical" starting mid-Wrath.
No, i pass COMPLETELLY AND UNDOUBTLY, i rather start playing TESO/GW2 or just do the misions STILL availables on RETAIL than play Cata.
I love how everyone is instantly negative about a cata classic without stating anything in terms of why they hate it and what they would like to see change. Can we try and think progressively in our opinions?
This pretty much confirms, they are considering doing a Cata Classic, which is what i was worried about when this train began. Where does it stop? I would of prefered they stop at Wrath in all honest before the big major changes rolled around in cata, I dont want us getting a new classic every 2 years it takes resources away from retail
With Classic catering to a more hardcore base Cata should do quite well. The original problems with it stemmed from it alienating the casuals. Good dungeons early on, challenging raids, sounds good to me. 95% of the time anyone in my guild asks "When did we get the answer is Cata.
I am looking forward to Classic Cataclysm.
As long as we separate the expansions into their own classic servers there is NOTHING wrong with cata classic (assuming we get hard heroics and transmog in phase 1)The only things cata classic needs are removing lfr and some minor changes to the later dungeons so I still have reason to run the first set. What killed cata for me was having to do nothing but amani dungeons and twilight dungeons before raids on new characters. I love the way my classes played though, and original mass teleport tol barad
Just go straight to mop the cata was horrible.
People whining that Cata bad, get can't seem to say why. I say bring it on.
I always said Cata would have been a much better xpac if it had mythic dungeons, mythic+ and flexible raids. There is no way this xpac goes with only "some changes", it's the breaking point in WOW's growth for a reason.
Funny how there's 0 questions about cross realm Random Dungeon Finder.
